Smartphone with the following characteristics... - General Topics

Hi! I've been looking for long time for a smartphone with these characteristics:
- not too old with at least 2GB RAM
- easy to root/unblock/flash/backup firmware
- easy to repair imei, without box and it would be great if it could be done without pc too
- dual sim
for someone who is not into the smartphone/android world it's not easy to find, can you people suggest anything?
Thanks a lot! :good:

Android on GT-I8320
It would be so great to see android running on this machine, i have a friend that just sold his phone because of this stupid LiMo. How come it's so hard to have a working version? Is it because of drivers? who are the responsible?
any news on this? such a good phone, basically an expensive paperweight as i'm using x10..
Hi there.. There's awesome news...there were released more android roms and phone calls already work, but there's work needing to be done!!
More Info for developers (Chinese forum, main forum) limofans
Portuguese Forum: samsungh1pt.freeforums
International forum: freelimo
Git repository (owner mephisto...it still has not phone calls working but he needs people to help him) gitorious h1droid
Since a user released the drives that control phone calls and etc...the project seems alive again... the latest rom is 0.3!
There's also a lot of videos on youtube!
Hi there,
I just bought this wonderful phone with those awsome specs, even better than iphone 3g for 100$...
1 day of studying Limo OS and 360 service off, I love this phone... But there are some not good things about this OS (wi-fi internet loading big pages always crashes, not working GPS becouse only 360 users can do it..). Google'd, and found that people from China, Portugal, Poland Spain, have transported Android OS v2.2 froyo to this phone, but there are not working camera, UI sensor and other things...
Looking forward to next release of H1Droid. Just read chinese forum, and found that they already have H1droid 0.4 version in those days.
Want android system so badly...
Portugal page, about h1droid 0.4: samsungh1pt.freeforums.org/portal.php [use google translate to translate in english]
Wifi is now working...stil some work needed in phone module and power managent!
GPS, Bluetooth ... not working yet!
Please contribute to this project!
is the processor on h1 fast enough for android 2.3?
It is! But it is too soon to port to android 2.3! We have to finish first the work on android 2.2!
Rom 0.6 released!

HIPHONE dual-sim phone with Froyo

Is it possible to upgrade / root these ?
http://www.sandsmobile.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=31
It's apparently a Android 2.2 installation, but with a lot of spelling errors and such; therefore the wish for rooting ;-)
Been searching high and low for this, but can't find anything about this - so guys - I need your wisdom once again

[Q] lg p500 general query?

i have p500 for past one year and i want to grow my knowledge about smartphones , hardware, software , solid state electronic devices and of course usability! i am going to ask you some question about one of the revolutionary topic(telecommunication and integration of other devices in one smartphone circuits) of humankind! my topic is bit lengthy(and interesting for first time smartphone and android user) but hey devil in detail right!
part 1 - general
whats the main difference between hardware and software of a basic , feature and smartphone mobile! do 1 ghz of iphone processor equal to the computational power of 1 ghz desktop processor? why a feature phone browser have wap and pain to setup it than smartphone browser http! i know all the os and aps are made from programming language and framework, digital logic and circuits do different business companies just hire computer programmer to make living just to make things look and feel little different from one another(bada, android, windows, ios etc). ?
part 2 - future
how much upgrade p500 can take i have already checked rasheds jellybean rom(working but full with bugs) , do you think p500 can take all upcoming upgrade smoothly ? i know p500 have capability but not sure can his rom support upcoming android upgrade easily? can you really make a rom perfect for p500 like they work in high end phones?
part 3- applications
no one will spend extra money on a telecommunication devices if it cannot make him happy or play desire application! i need tts in hindi for android and a application of android which can translate english or other language pdf,,files, document etc to my own language(hindi) and then converted file can be read by tts in hindi?
i know smartphone is palm computer with some extra hardware attached to it (sensors, phone call, internet)! i have multiboot pc and not much problem installing uninstalling it! but for my smartphone i had to read and understand hundreds of thread and forums just to know root , flash and reinstall features! i had rooted, flashed , installed custom rom and then third and bricked my phone in a single day! now solved but for future troubleshoot want to know the difference between recovery image and baseband version ! do a kdz lg tool change the baseband and recovery, rom image simultaneously! i have now oxyzen 4.0 and v20d firmware and i heard there is v20e and further available so is there any benefit and safe wy to upgrade my firmware? i have also noticed that i need a recovery image or boot manager which can support all rom from different vendors and developers can this possible?
please answer my doubts! thanks!

1. Difference between hardware and software:
Hardware is physical, for example the CPU or memory or whatever. Software means that files in the memory.
A 1 GHz+ phone‘s CPU is not the same as a PC‘s one. On the PC it have more voltage and so it is working faster.
2. Nobody knows until which android version our phone can run. The only soloution is to try that.
3. Recovery is installed on every Android smartphone and tablet. In recovery mode you can wipe data, flash new ROMs or even flash another recoveries. But if you want to flash something, it must end with .zip
You need the baseband to call, send sms or whatever what needs your sim-card. Without the baseband (like when you did something wrong while installing new bb) you can not receive nor do calls, send sms or whatever.
You don‘t need to upgrade baseband to V20E! It‘s specified for other countrys, and you have the right baseband. So just ignore it.
NO YOU CAN NOT FLASH ROMS FROM OTHER DEVELOPERS! YOU‘LL BRICK YOUR PHONE!
is their tts for Hindi and software to convert a document in Hindi language and speak it in Hindi for android

Voopee - where social meets the next generation

Has anyone tried Voopee ?
would like to get more feedbacks from users on the existing application.
Practically it is using a voice over lte technology where you get a mobile number (malaysian based for now) and functions like a prepaid account without the need of a sim card.
We're connected to a malaysian telco right now, but imagine the infinite possibilities when we connect to other country telco's.
The capabilities also includes messaging, news and most multimedia features.
Would love to get feedbacks from you guys !
thanks !

Reading "register" information from my ZTE MF90+

Hi Folks, i read quite a bit in the XDA-dev forums in the last few years, but now it's time to change the status "from passive to active". :silly:
- I have a "ZTE MF90+" (a nifty little mobile 4G WiFi hotspot with battery). The Chipset should be based on a Qualcomm MDM9215.
- I bought it about 3 years ago and it is SIM-Locked (aka Provider-Locked iirc).
- I fiddled around a bit with it and am able to ADB into it (from my Ubuntu 18.04 machine and from my Raspberry Pi, too - e.g. to activate RNDIS/CDC mode for USB tethering)
- I have an unlock code, that should work "to tear down this SIM-Lock wall" without any hassle.
So far, so good ... but my interests are still not satisfied; i want to know what's up with the internals of this modem, when i enter the unlock code. I simply want to observe and understand what's going on under the hood.
To quote Ylvis from their song Stonehenge: "And i know i should be happy, but instead, there's question, i can't get out of my head!"
Maybe a year ago i did some internet research, where i found several clues that the "SIM-Lock" information might be stored inside some Section of a NV storage https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1954029.
On some other russian hacker forum (that i can't find right now, unfortunately) according to google translate one of them seemed to be able to change one NV entry there to get rid of the Sim-Lock. The tabs are still open on my other Ubuntu 14.04 Laptop 250km away from here, so it might take some time to provide the "russian hacker forum link" here for further reference. I haven't tried it out back then as i heavily relied on this mobile hotspot back then and could neither afford to brick it nor had the time to fiddle around further.
What i remember was also this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804117, but this thread is from 2012 and e.g. the download link for the NV-items_reader_writer.rar don't work anymore, so i haven't tried it yet to get this program running.
So now i need your help:
-> What tools can i use (on my Ubuntu Linux machine, if necessary via WINE) to read out a "full image" of the (Android) system to flash back later (if necessary) and what tool can i use to read (and modify if necessary one day) the NV items to compare them "before and after" i unlocked it?
Any hints where to start and in which direction i could head from there? :cyclops:
Please help me to grow and rise :highfive:
