Bluetooth app priority - General Questions and Answers

I have two apps I use with my bluetooth headset, one for music and one for podcasts. Most of the time I'm listening to podcasts, but when I hit play on my headset button, it's always the music app that starts playing, even if I just listened to a podcast and paused for a sec.
My question: is there somewhere I can set the priority of the two apps, so the podcast starts instat of the music app ?

That button is configured to start your music/media player. What app are you using to listen to podcasts?

I'm not sure it can be configured to work with Pocket Casts without some heavy modification or decompiling and editing something.
In other words, probably not a simple fix(if it can even be done at all) involving the use of another app to do so or not as simple as changing some settings or selections.

Thank you for helping out
Dang, I was hoping for some simple file edit or app, but it sounds like something I just have to live with.

[Q] Any way to keep screen on while music player is playing?

I didn't notice any settings in my newly purchased Infuse that would allow this so I wanted to check, is there an add-on app or setting I'm missed that will allow the screen to stay on while the music player is playing?
this is an option that i don't believe the default player has. there are several media players in the market that have this option. i use PowerAmp, best player in my opinion
Thanks any thoughts on what is considered the most feature rich player?

people seem to like doubletwist because it integrates with itunes i believe. but as far as features, i believe poweramp is head and shoulders above the rest. it autoplays on headphone insertion/bluetooth connection. it has its own lockscreen controls. it crossfades between songs and kills the silence at the beginning and end of tracks, making for a professional dj sounding club mix. the only shortcoming is, it doesn't directly handle m3u files, but this will be fixed in the next release.
Much appreciated.

Rockbox is the most feature rich, not on the market though. You'll have to hunt for the apk.

You can do this using tasker.
I was browsing apps the other day and saw Tasker... it seemed a bit daunting so I didn't look in to it closer... (as an aside I'm probably going to stay with the default music player as I like its integration and swiping capabilities), but it looks like I can use tasker to replicate a feature I did like from poweramp (launch automatically when headset is plugged in), and the keep backlight on... guess I'll give it a whirl.
Thanks again.
edit: Stumbled through setting up the task I wanted related to the music player this morning.
Worked brilliantly. Thanks!

Music - genre

I had been using an ipod to listen to music prior to getting my charge. When i got the charge i coppied music files(mp3) to the data card. Since then i have never been able to get any music player to identify songs correctly with regards to genre.
I've used programs like itag to modify song properties. Also tried modifying properties via windows mass storage. I even tried clearing data from players.
What else can i do?

have you tried Google Play Music or Winamp?
Yup. I've tried both and given up all hope that it'll ever work.

I think a lot of it depends on the info settings for each song. you'll have to edit each song's info. I have read/heard of websites that will clean all of that up for you, but really did not venture too far into that.

If I'm just listening to music from YouTubes, I use Harex... Basically lets you create a playlist of YouTube videos, and allows them to play in the background.
Not quite what you're looking for, but I don't really download music to my phone. Would much rather stream it .
I use both torrent and MP3 Music Downloader V6. But, I typically buy my music from Sprint Music+. I know I know LAME lol.
The only thing simple is the belief in simplicity.

I just found out (stupid me) that the google play app has the ability to stream music from your desktop. So I've just started using that and I downloaded an app call youtube2mp3 that downloads and converts videos to mp3s and I use solid exploer to put the music on my sd card.
Side note: solid explorer is a great file manager app. Its simply beautiful when trying to save the little internal memory on this phone. I don't have to use directory bind no where near as much!

I also use tTorrent. You can get the whole album, and if you don't want the whole album you can just select specific songs.

radio station that doesn't use data?

I know it's a stupid question. But the idea I have in my head is something just like Pandora except when you're connected to WiFi it automatically downloads a preset number of songs to your phone so whenever you're connected to data you could just play the random downloaded songs right off of your phone. Is something like this around? If not someone should work on developing something like this for real.
i believe that some music apps will keep a cache of songs that you play over wifi or data available offline.
might want to investigate that route.
i think i usedthis a few times with google play music
I believe Slacker radio does this. Haven't used it for quite some time though.

Google Music does this, you can 'pin' songs, albums, or playlists and they will be downloaded to your phone so they're always available.
Oh ok. I'll check out slacker radio. & as far as Google music goes, I listen to a lot of jazz & classical & I like various types so I don't have them on my actual player. I use Poweramp for all my downloaded stuff. Will Google Music allow me to just create a jazz or classical station?
Check out Tune In radio. It may be a paid feature but you can download whole radio broadcasts from local and internet radio stations. I listen to jazz and classical as well and there are a bunch of different jazz and classical stations, all different genres, too.

Music plays all sounds

I'm on a stock phone using the stock music player and it plays all sounds, not just music. Is there a player that will filter file size?

There are media players that don't scan for all audio but there are too many to name. There are others that you can setup to scan only the folders where you put music in. What you're asking for most music players already do in one form or another. In the end you have a choice of 500+ music players out for android.
I just want one that doesn't play my notification and ring tones

You are the second person in two weeks that asked for help for something that can be done yourself by searching the Google play store. Instead you want someone to make the choice for you. This section of the forum is meant for those with problems rooting their phones or with a particular rom and other phone troubles involving the 4.3 ota. This section is also for troubleshooting rooting and flashing issues. Your thread is essentially a suggestion thread(which gets closed) disguised as "help" since you want us to name music players that don't read and play notification and ring tone. You may be mad at this response but please understand that this isn't what this thread section is for. Had you posted about a rooting or flashing related issue more people would be willing to help you.
Not mad, just didn't know where to turn. I've searched the Play Store and didn't find what I needed. Just thought this was an educated forum that could help. Sorry for wasting your time.

Create a playlist containing only the files you want and select it any time you listen to music. That's what I did.

If you know where the sound files are, you can place a .nomedia file in the directory, preventing the music player from scanning that directory.
