Aftering rooting with Stock, my video player is requesting that I open WiFi in order to play a movie from my sd card.
Has anyone else had this issue and what was done to correct it?
Thank you in advance
Sounds like you are using the connected media app on your phone instead of the gallery or watch (it maybe videos, im running bamf gingerbread). I just tested mine, and when using the connected media app and selecting videos, I get a prompt asking me to connect to wifi.

Do you mean a connected media like VLC?
No, I believe all sense roms have an app called connected media. Try looking for it in your app drawer.

Roger...Got it. I down loaded MoboPlayer app and now I am using it
excursively as media play (movie player). Do you have any other suggestions for media player apps?
Thank you again!
I use v player. Simple to use and has all the standard screen ratios. Rockplayer lite irritated me with the damn pop up everytime I tried to use it.
Ok, I will play around with V player again. Thank you very much!
Looking for a (mp3)media player that can backup the playlists that are created and then can be restored when you wipe and install a new ROM.
I have tried PowerAmp, the stock Music Player, and Double Twist, but with no luck. Maybe I'm missing something.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!!!
you can use the software or winamp. Before wiping you can do a nandroid or use titanium backup with backup App+data.

I use Titanium, but after restoring with Titanium, the playlists are empty. Haven't tried Winamp.
Google Music. Backs up everything to the cloud that I am aware of. It should bring back all your playlists. I don't use them. But I do know that all my songs are immediately brought back to working order. So there.
And you can access it on any computer that you log into with you Google account.
Thanks > > > >
I recommend this over others, because of it's cloud syncing features. If you have a large data plan, you can stream music you don't want wanna keep on your phone.

Yes google music keeps your playlists.
You can try the miui music player too, as it has playlists that I believe stay.
Latest Version of the Apk attached.
Use Titanium Backup and Back up: [Playlists] Media Storage 2.x.x Next time just restore the same thing(data only) and the playlists are there
Simple as that.
Hope i helped

Doin it wrong, I use Doubletwist to sync my itunes playlists, it puts the playlists on your internal, then use Poweramp as my main player which finds the playlists files with no problem.
When I flash a new rom I just select the "reset doubletwist" option or "rescan" option in poweramp. These option get the playlists back every time. (also in Poweramp you can select the music folder that poweramp searches for)
Thank-you all for your suggestions.
I found out that if you use doubletwist on your phone with the desktop version (Didn't know there was a desktop version!), you can sync playlists from Windows Media Player to PC doubletwist which will then sync them to your phone.
I already had the playlists on WMP, so it turned out to be a simple solution!

Haha I was an iOS slave since the original ipod came out an had an iPhone till I got my Infuse. Getting rid of itunes would amount to completely erasing a good part of my life. My music collection is rather epic
I DO have a Zune tho Wouldn't recommend that **** to anyone lol

Just export as MP3's virtually and then have a Google music heyday. That's what I'm gonna do for my girlfriend. I myself use Rhapsody and strip the DRM right off with Sound Taxi. BOOM. #2 In this thread.

Oh. How did you get your music over?
And I was saying because because you used double twist over whatever..

Most of my music came from Limewire/Frostwire and I ripped the DRM off of my purchased like a year ago for my Zune, I don't remember how I did it but it worked lol but thanks for the heads up anyways!
I've been using Google Music since it was in beta a while back and love it so no more itunes...or poweramp lol
If someone need not only backup but also share songs list with friends or on Facebook, I can recommend following application:

hey all, i converted a few m4p songs to mp3s a few days ago and my phone refuses to play them. i dont know why. ive also tried converting then using an app from the market and they just wont play. could it possibly be that ita due to the fact that i took then from my iTunes library?

It's because it's country music. Lol j/j
There was another thread around here about some music playing & others that wouldn't. You might have to search for that one...I don't remeber the subforum.

Burn the mp3s to cd then import them from the cd. Even if you convert to mp3 it keeps the stupid itunes drm. Atleast that is how I was able to play some music my brother put on my laptop after I lost his and his wifes passwords.
I suggest you to install the Vplayer or ArcMedia to your phone to play the special MP3s. BTW, if you always rent movies from iTunes, you may interest in keeping iTunes rentals forever.
I have been trying to get some music on my one s with liquid smooth. I originally put an album on my phone in flac. I loaded it at /sdcard/music/[artist]/[album]/[track#]-[song].flac. I've been trying three different apps, play music, stock music app, and winamp. The files would not show up in any of the apps but I did noticed if I browsed to the files with root explorer and "open with" winamp that they would play within that app but the app showed no recognition of the file other than being able to play and pause it.
Next I decided to convert some albums to ogg and put them on my phone. Still have the same issue as with flac, but notice that all three apps would play them if I opened it through root explorer.
Can anyone tell me what is going on here? Obviously there is support for the file types as I could get them to play, but why will they not show up within the apps?
Btw, my initial goal was to get music to play in zombies, run! Which uses an external music app to play music from what I understand.

You have to clear then data on your media storage which can be found in apps. Open settings/app and find media storage.. It will have an android icon.
Clear the data and cache and reset your phone. This should work. Let me know if it doesn't

Try the APP "rescan SD" or sth like this.
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium
do what the guy above said
and check your sd card for ".nomedia" file in your music folders
Took a while before I had a change to try your suggestion, but it worked, thank you! Downloaded "rescan media" and rebooted and now I see the files

glad i could helP!
Hi all.
All my music players seem to be unable to play the songs that I moved from internal storage to external SD card. When I try to play. Play music says "couldn't play the track you requested"
But when I use total commander. The song is there. And when I play from total commander. All the music players were able to play.
I have tried reinstalled the apps but doesn't seem to help. My guess is the music players stored the previous songs' location, and are unable to find them now since I relocated them. (I tried to refresh on the music players list doesn't seem to help either)
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks you

Try to clear the app data/cache. Or remove you sd card and put it back in.
Sounds like all you need is to make the music player do a media scan so it recognizes the files from their new location instead of searching for them in their old location...
I've dealt with that before, usually the methods I mentioned above solved the issue right away. Good luck.
