local music files not showing up - HTC One S

I have been trying to get some music on my one s with liquid smooth. I originally put an album on my phone in flac. I loaded it at /sdcard/music/[artist]/[album]/[track#]-[song].flac. I've been trying three different apps, play music, stock music app, and winamp. The files would not show up in any of the apps but I did noticed if I browsed to the files with root explorer and "open with" winamp that they would play within that app but the app showed no recognition of the file other than being able to play and pause it.
Next I decided to convert some albums to ogg and put them on my phone. Still have the same issue as with flac, but notice that all three apps would play them if I opened it through root explorer.
Can anyone tell me what is going on here? Obviously there is support for the file types as I could get them to play, but why will they not show up within the apps?
Btw, my initial goal was to get music to play in zombies, run! Which uses an external music app to play music from what I understand.

You have to clear then data on your media storage which can be found in apps. Open settings/app and find media storage.. It will have an android icon.
Clear the data and cache and reset your phone. This should work. Let me know if it doesn't

Try the APP "rescan SD" or sth like this.

do what the guy above said
and check your sd card for ".nomedia" file in your music folders

Took a while before I had a change to try your suggestion, but it worked, thank you! Downloaded "rescan media" and rebooted and now I see the files

Strange Play Music Behavior

I am using the AOPK rom along with the latest Harsh kernel. I have music on both internal/external SD cards and at first, things were playing fine.
Recently, some files won't play from the music library. I get the error stating that file cannot be played. But if I go to ES manager, I can play the files individually just fine.
Started out with a few albums, then more became faulty. I even moved from SD to SD and uninstalled/installed Play Music but nothing is helping.

what do you mean by "root folders"
if you mean the internal storage, like /data and /system, it really just depends on the app. I think poweramp will let you select other folders, but others may not.
Jet audio also let's you select other folders
Yes, i meant internal memory. Is it possible to make music player/ gallery recognize media files placed in internal memory....
Currently i can use internal memory to save data just as in a flash drive. And if i want to play any media, i have to manually browse to the media location using an explorer and play.
Simply put, Is it possible to play music/ videos in stock apps without an sd-card inserted?
I want music files preview to be shown in music player, pictures and videos preview in gallery.
And poweramp and jet audio are showing a message that an sd-card is not inserted.

There is no way. The internal storage is for apps only. You have to use a external sd for all media.

Music - genre

I had been using an ipod to listen to music prior to getting my charge. When i got the charge i coppied music files(mp3) to the data card. Since then i have never been able to get any music player to identify songs correctly with regards to genre.
I've used programs like itag to modify song properties. Also tried modifying properties via windows mass storage. I even tried clearing data from players.
What else can i do?

have you tried Google Play Music or Winamp?
Yup. I've tried both and given up all hope that it'll ever work.

I think a lot of it depends on the info settings for each song. you'll have to edit each song's info. I have read/heard of websites that will clean all of that up for you, but really did not venture too far into that.

[Q] Offline songs in Google Play Music?

Hello, I just want to know how the Google Play Music app know where and how to select the songs on my device's local storage in order to play them in the app? In fact, on the external SD card of my phone, I made a folder with all my songs in it and when I open the app, all songs will automatically loads up in the app. But the question is that the setting of the app is dead simple; it does not even have the "music folder' selection in which I can tell what songs the app have to scan. Why and how everything comes out automatically and what happens if I have more than one "music folder"? How to app will scan? Thanks.
I want to know this as well cause Google Music isn't bad but just being able to play music when your online is just crap when you have music stored on your phone.
Android has something called a media scanner, it usually runs after boot has completed (it may also update here and then while the device is running).
So this media scanner scans all your data for music/videos/pictures so that these files can easily be accessed by any app. So it does not matter where your files are, it just finds them.
If you add music through any non standard app to your storage this may not trigger the media scanner, thats why recently added music may not show in those apps using the media scanners results.

Play music can't play song after I relocated them

Hi all.
All my music players seem to be unable to play the songs that I moved from internal storage to external SD card. When I try to play. Play music says "couldn't play the track you requested"
But when I use total commander. The song is there. And when I play from total commander. All the music players were able to play.
I have tried reinstalled the apps but doesn't seem to help. My guess is the music players stored the previous songs' location, and are unable to find them now since I relocated them. (I tried to refresh on the music players list doesn't seem to help either)
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks you

Try to clear the app data/cache. Or remove you sd card and put it back in.
Sounds like all you need is to make the music player do a media scan so it recognizes the files from their new location instead of searching for them in their old location...
I've dealt with that before, usually the methods I mentioned above solved the issue right away. Good luck.
