Personally, since you are rooted, I would backup using a third party app (titanium, 3c, swift...).
During the initial setup, I would restore with Google built in restore from other device/cloud. And only restore with the third party app what Google did not. Some apps do not have their data backed up by Google, so you need to restore with other apps.

I'm currently using Titanium just to restore app data. It is having trouble with apks in Android 10.
But since Google backup will already download the apks, you should not have any issues.
3c and swift backup are working fine in Android 10.

That's why u always make a backup, I don't understand, why did u wipe the device to root? U don't need to, unless u had to unlock the bootloader to, but that's simple enough, just make a backup, and no titanium backup probably doesn't work with 6.0 yet

Exactly
BTW Backup+ works on M.
EInstead of being unhelpful and spammy like the posts above, I'll help. Revert to supersu 2.49 and install the appropriate elemental x kernel.

I had the same issue, and although I didn't have the time to investigate it much, the problem seems to be the following:
Backups used to be located at
Code:
storage/emulated/0/TitaniumBackup (sdcard)
and they are now saved to
Code:
storage/emulated/legacy/TitaniumBackup
The second path is only accessible with a root browser. I think that if you've rooted your phone and you move (or better yet copy some for testing) your backups there, TB will see them again.
At first I thought it was a bug with TB and Android M, but now I start to wonder if it has something to do with ElementalX since I've also flashed that kernel to my device.
Use SELinuxModeChanger (Google it, is not in the play store) to set permisive mode. That worked for me
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
SELinux permissive mode is the solution! Kernel Audiutor has an installable plugin for changing SELinux mode.
Permissive mode is not working for me, for some reason. TitaniumBackup on Android 6.0/ElementalX v6.02/SuperSU v2.52 still saves at ''storage/emulated/legacy/TitaniumBackup'.
I tried both SELinuxModeChanger and the permissive.zip flashable that ElementalX post is supplying.

6.0 support was added with SuperSU 2.50+. Stop being unhelpful and spammy.
I'm having problem with titanium bkp. I had backup all my apps with data on 5.1.1 and flashed 6.0.1 rom. Now titanium bkp doesn't detect my bkp.
Tried many things like
copy bkp files to internal,
just made an app bkp and copy my bkp files to that folder etc.
still my TB doesn't detect my old bkp
Can you make sure that the filename casing is as TiBkp expects it?
Move away TitaniumBackup and data/com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup, then create a backup and see what TiBkp creates for these two folders.
I've had instances of TiBkp not seeing data/com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup because it was named Data/com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup (note the uppercase D at Data).
Hi guys,
I currently have a nexus 5, rooted, exposed installed phone.
However, I m thinking to use titanium backup to backup some of my app (maybe sytem data). I do have some questions tho.
1st, I heard it is not recommend to backup system data since they are not the same.. is it truth?
2nd, Since nexus 5 do not have a SD tray. If i would backup my apps data and format my phone later. Where can i store those backup files? Can i Move the titanium backup folder to my pc first, format my phone, install titanium backup on the new devices, move files back to the original location and hit restore? Can I do that? Or there is anyway to workaround?
1. Yes it is.
2. You can backup them in the cloud or on your PC. No problem to restore them later.

Yes (user data ONLY) but you need a permissive SELinux on Marshmallow.

No idea what is selinux... Is it hard to setup?
I guess I should stay away from marshmallow than.
What about restore within lollipop?
Just google for se linux mode changer app. Very simple to change to permissive. Needs root, but this does Titanium Backup too.

but seem marshmallow have a lot of bugs and errors. maybe i should wait for more stable built first.
I've always made TWRP NANDroid imgs for backup & restore.
Twrp doesn't work with Android10 yet. So what are you all using instead?

Have you tried formatting a USB drive and backing up your data (important files - Pics, SMS, etc.) to a USB drive including an apps list? If you can use Titanium Backup with this ROM you can skip the apps list and restore your apps with Titanium Backup. Then when you finish flashing a ROM you just copy your files back to your phone from the USB with a 'root capable' file explorer.
It will not back up your boot image, system image or Vendor image, but if a reset is required you won't lose all your important data.

Can Titanium Backup restore system settings/configs etc like twrp nandroid?
I want a complete system backup/restore so I won't need to setup/configure device again after a wipe.

@Momotani-Hitoshi
Gonna have to go back to Android 9 until or if they even get TWRP working on 10 for the Pixels. This is probably one of the biggest reasons I'm still on 9.
Titanium is still fairly unreliable as well as I still come into contact with certain apps that refuse to work after restoring them with titanium (Waze is one such app)
I am using Swift Backup and it works flawlessly. It saves things on the cloud (if you want or also locally) and then you can restore on any phone. I actually like it better than Titanium, which I have used since the days of my Note 3.

Came across your post by chance while searching to understand why TWRP failed to restore the images made of LineageOS 17.1 (Android 10) on my Wileyfox. Huge time waste, as is Titanium at present, with this Android version.
I am still using TiBu daily and occasionally sync TiBu to Google drive. Swift Backup looks like a good alternative.
I miss NANDROID backups with TWRP.
OAndBackupX on F-droid is free and seems to function well enough
TRWP is now available for Pixel 3/XL Android 10!

Used it for years, When I updated to a new phone and every version update and Rom change. It can upload your backup to Goggle Drive. I usually copy the storage directory to my PC.
Setup auto backup schedule, your good to go.
I paid for it yrs ago, still reloads with no problems.
It's a powerful app.

If you are using Magisk for root than you can hide root from Banking Apps, like Bank of America.
I have successfully hid my banking apps in Magisk. I get all of my three banks working properly with root.

so then does this replace TiBu for you on total?
Sony phones in settings in storage have option to clear cache for all apps. Why is it missing in our phones? Or am i missing something?
Sent from OnePlus 7 Pro, OxygenOS 10.0.3, TWRP 3.3.1-75, Magisk 20.3, EdXposed 0.4.6.1 (build 4513), Modded Play Store 16.5.15, android core.java patched and SafetyNet pass OK
It's a good question. We ought to have an option to clear cache AND data for all or selected apps in a batch mode.
Currently I just use Titanium Backup to do this but shouldn't have to rely on a 3rd-party app. OOS is decked out enough that we should reasonably expect this functionality to already be a part of the OS or baked in in future updates.
Also using Titanium, but would be if in Settings...
i know this is not hte place for this so i may get in to a bit of troubles but does titanium backup backup wifi and restore apps ok for you guys on your op7 pro? i havent been able to restore apps or backup wifi profiles since android 10 and it appears there is no support for titanium or at least they will not respond.
I'm pretty decent with root ROMs etc, but I've always been **** at backing up properly. Any recommendations on apps (old or new) and instructions on how to backup and restore my phone so I don't have to relogin to apps, or reset up apps that don't keep my settings within apps that don't keep them even if they have a log in.
Any help would be appreciated. And no, google backup won't work. Doesn't do what I want

Hi, have you tried Swift Backup?
I always use it when I switch the ROM.
Not only apps and its setting, it can restore SMS, call logs and wallpapers though it can't restore entire system.

Haven't tried it, but will on next Evolution ROM update. Do you just not do a restore when clean installing the rim? Then root and install swift, and restore? That simple?

Yep. Just backup apps before doing clean install procedure.
And install Magisk on the new ROM, then install Swift backup and restore apps so that I can use apps just like before without any 're-configuration'.
