Is there any way/possibility to bring back bluez stack to android >= 9.0? - General Questions and Answers

been having bluetooth connectivity problem with legacy ps3 controller aka "dualshock 3" with android 9 phone(no problem connected via usb),
all guides/documentations related needed the bluez stack that google was ditched since android 4/5 to work with,
the 'bring back bluez to android project' was stopped at the lollipop stage as well, no documentation can be found for porting back bluez to android 9/above, and no bluedroid/fluoride solution can be found, the only related app "sixaxis controller" not working as well.
am just an programming amateur with just limited knowledge, it's hard for me to work it out.
hereby, am begging for any master/sifu can spare some of your precious time to look into this matter or point me some direction to study/fix it, thanks for your kindness.

Sixaxis should work for you then.
https://profandroid.com/network/bluetooth/connect-to-ps3.html
But, you need to use an app called "Sixaxis Compatibility checker" first, it will tell you if your phone is compatible.
If you already tried these methods and they didn't work, you are doing something wrong. Try again but take it one step at a time. If you have problems, tell me what problem you are having.

Does the Sixaxis Compatibility app confirm that your device is actually compatible? If it doesn't, it probably won't work no matter what you do. Some devices just don't support it.

Bright House TV now on Android -- Won't work if you're rooted...

If you're a Bright House TV subscriber, you can now watch live TV at home on your Android device. This has been available on the iPad for a while now, and is available for iPhone now as well.
Problem is, it WILL NOT work if your device is rooted. And it says, "You can't use this application on a rooted device." (Or something along those lines)
I even tried Voodoo's temporary unroot with no success. Can the apk be modified to bypass the root check?

Wow, that works great. Just tried it out on my Touchpad running the latest nightly on CM9. So far so good... Thx for posting.
Apparently, it doesn't work on the EVO 4G LTE, either. I jut got it a couple weeks ago, and I haven't been able to get it working. I'm not even rooted.

I installed the apk and get this error message:
the programming you have requested is only available when you are accessing this video service through a modem authorized by bright house networks. I got this message on Jelly bean, and ICS.

Disable hardware mirroring MX Player?

Hey guys. Used to be able to turn on hw decoding and the video on the tablet would turn off while im viewing on my tv via micro hdmi. Now no matter if i turn it off or on the video still plays on the tablet and if i put the screen to sleep it does the same on my tv which is pointless. Anyone have an idea? Thanks. 4.2 jb for me.

I didnt think older version of apps were available thru the play store. I have to check what version is on my phone as well.
Took 1.7.11 off my phone, installed it on the tf300t and the same thing happens. On my tablet i had 1.7.14 but uninstalled.

[Q] Android 4.3 JB for Nexus 5 request

Maybe the stangest request in xda´s time
As I need an app only compatible with 4.3 and nothing newer to run on my rooted Nexus 5, I desperately need JB for my Nexus. Does this exist or do I need a tech friend (or someone in here to bake a rom for me. Is this even possible?
Kind regards
Some q&a
Q) Is it technically possible?
A) Pretty much anything is technically possible
Q) On a scale of 1-100, how difficult is it?
A) 99.9999
Q) Will anyone ever release JB for N5?
A) Nope
Q) Not even if I ask nicely?
A) Nope
Q) Why not? Why is it so difficult?
A) The N5 was not released with JB. There is no JB Source code compatible with the N5. There are no devices with the same hardware as the N5 on JB. All the drivers and kernel would need to be backported. This is an extremely difficult, if not impossible task. No one will do this.

Have you tried using an Android emulator such as Bluestacks or Andyroid?
What is the app? Maybe someone can suggest an alternative.

LG G2 was released with JB (4.2.2), and that basically is the N5. Not saying that makes things a lot easier.

It doesn't because it doesn't have the same hardware. A few similarities, but not really.

The apps name is CSC Scandihealth HH3 version 8.8.11.7 (works only with Jellybean at this moment)
Looks like something to do with health insurance. Can you just use the mobile site? Or does the app do something special?

Sounds like you need to get on the app developers ass to update his useless JB only drivel
Maybe a stupid question, but have you tried sideloading the app? The reason I ask is because while it may not officially support KK, you may still be able to sideload it. T-Mobile VV for example didn't officially support KK until a few weeks ago (and consequently couldn't be installed through GP), but many people, myself included were still able to sideload it and it worked just fine. If you can't sideload it you'd have better luck pressing the app creator to update his app. No developer is ever going to port an outdated version of Android.

Capacitive button remapping.

Hi all,
I'm new the the OPO having just left the Nexus line after a long time.
I'd love to use the capacitive buttons but really hate how they're opposite to the Android guidelines. Is it possible to remap them so they're the same as the Android on screen ones?
TIA.

Ah but it requires root :/
Root, and unlock bootloader and Install the latest Oct. 21st verion of SLIMKat and be over it.
You have so much customizations under a super clean and LIGHT ROM. In fact, most of what Android Lolipop is coming out with has ALREADY been out on custom roms ages ago.
Think of it as Google finally taking ideas from the development community.

Bro, theres hardly any adblocker(ad free is what I use) that doesnt need root. Are you telling me you're letting all kinds of tracking scripts/cookies, youtube ads, animated epilepsy inducing garbage steal your time/cpu/battery/data bandwidth?

I need to update that. Went back to stock because of battery life. Its difficult to keep it updated when you don't own a PC.

random thought

I'm not a developer, but ran across this while surfing xda. I realize that the pixel isn't a Moto device, but could someone take this example and fix it for the pixels that are locked tight?
Link (concept): Moto G4 Play Amazon bootloader/root
What they're using for example/to gain root: initroot
This is just a thought and I'm not quite sure how to use it, but I know there has got to be someone that does/could use this to gain at least root for the locked bootloader pixels from VZW.
Nope, only affects Moto bootloaders.

well, what about the initroot? would that work for us? i'd love to be able to find a way to root/unlock the bootloader far from selling the phone and getting the google edition pixel, lol.

but if you look at the stuff on the github, they're using dirty cow. is dirty cow patched by google? god, I wish I could find exploits that would let me gain temp root, but unfortunately, i'm not good at that stuff.
Dirty cow was released in 2007, Debian patched the old kernel in 20l6 and canonical (ubuntu) followed after that for there live iso. Ubuntu is built from debian

Where did I say it was patched in 2007 ?
Android kernel is based on Linux, Linux is the kernel not the operating system
The current kernel in gnu/Linux is 4.12, earliest kernel patch for dirty cow was 3.2
Android I believe now is like 3.10, but, I don't know when Android patched it.

I'd love to see if this is something that could work on the pixel. I'd love to be able to unlock the bootloader and have my go at this phone, but I'm not even sure where to start looking..
Why would you need this for the pixel?
The pixel is easy to unlock the bootloader and root, unless your on Verizon or the other one in Europe.
You couldn't pay me to use Verizon and that is even with a corporate discount.

yeah, i just can't afford to pay the 900+ for an unlocked phone. unfortunately, locking the phone down for VZW was stupid on google's part and hopefully they'll see this mistake next time, but doubtful.
