Maybe the stangest request in xda´s time
As I need an app only compatible with 4.3 and nothing newer to run on my rooted Nexus 5, I desperately need JB for my Nexus. Does this exist or do I need a tech friend (or someone in here to bake a rom for me. Is this even possible?
Kind regards
Some q&a
Q) Is it technically possible?
A) Pretty much anything is technically possible
Q) On a scale of 1-100, how difficult is it?
A) 99.9999
Q) Will anyone ever release JB for N5?
A) Nope
Q) Not even if I ask nicely?
A) Nope
Q) Why not? Why is it so difficult?
A) The N5 was not released with JB. There is no JB Source code compatible with the N5. There are no devices with the same hardware as the N5 on JB. All the drivers and kernel would need to be backported. This is an extremely difficult, if not impossible task. No one will do this.

Have you tried using an Android emulator such as Bluestacks or Andyroid?
What is the app? Maybe someone can suggest an alternative.

LG G2 was released with JB (4.2.2), and that basically is the N5. Not saying that makes things a lot easier.

It doesn't because it doesn't have the same hardware. A few similarities, but not really.

The apps name is CSC Scandihealth HH3 version 8.8.11.7 (works only with Jellybean at this moment)
Looks like something to do with health insurance. Can you just use the mobile site? Or does the app do something special?

Sounds like you need to get on the app developers ass to update his useless JB only drivel
Maybe a stupid question, but have you tried sideloading the app? The reason I ask is because while it may not officially support KK, you may still be able to sideload it. T-Mobile VV for example didn't officially support KK until a few weeks ago (and consequently couldn't be installed through GP), but many people, myself included were still able to sideload it and it worked just fine. If you can't sideload it you'd have better luck pressing the app creator to update his app. No developer is ever going to port an outdated version of Android.

Hi All, here's the use case: I use my phone for work quite a lot, so I need a stable, fully configured version running during working hours (this is, my curent rooted-stock 4.1.2, but also I want to play with other ROMS and possibly in the future migrate from my main stock ROM to a custom one.
I've read that it was possible to dual-boot on CM9 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774795) and that for other S3 (I9300 and I9305) there's a kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709686) that allows multi-boot pretty easy.
Now I want to know, is it possible and is there a good totorial to dual boot in an updated Verizon S3 (I535VRBMF1)?
Thanks

No as none of the kernels has a dual boot option.
As mentioned it's not possible. Next best option is to nandroid and restore as needed

The way these S3's are... it just isn't possible to dual boot.
I wish it was an option.

Is it really impossible? Back before the bootloader was unlocked we were using kexec to theoretically do the same thing.

No isn't possible with this phone since we no longer use kexec and pretty much all of the custom kernels don't have any dual boot option.

I'm positive. The best and closest thing we can do is backup ROMs and flash back and forth between them... but actually dual booting won't happen. It has something to do with how our phones boot up... I've read the explanation somewhere.

Hmm, I'll have to look for that explanation. It would seem to me that someone could build a kernel with kexec again and multiboot kind of like Tasssadar did for the Nexus 7. I realize it's different hardware than the N7, but seems it would be doable since something similar was already done once-upon-a-time on this device.

There were certain kernels that could dual boot for an S3, but from my understanding, not for the VZW S3 (I could be wrong here, or just wrong entirely). I really don't know much about kernels and hardware, but maybe it has something to do with the lack of hardware that a VZW S3 has compared to the others. Quite possibly the processors since the VZW is actually only a dual core? Not sure if that would have anything to do with it. Lol.

Dual Boot has definitely been achieved on the Verizon Galaxy S3 via kexec. It was how we were able to get around the locked bootloader. Once it was unlocked however we no longer needed it so it was dropped. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28809516
I for one would definitely donate to any dev that was able to come up with a working solution (like Tasssadar's http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2011403)

We don't need to. We have root. You're waiting for 4.2 while I've had 4.3 on my tablet for a week now. With the 2014 edition coming out I can promise someone's going to port it to our device. Just a matter of time.

You can root as others have suggested but if you want official, you're not getting 4.2. They are skipping and going to 4.3 I would assume by the end of the year but who knows

if i install a custom 4.2 or 4.3 rom, do i loose s pen functionality?

You don't lose S pen functionality, but you will have to install some 3rd party apps that use the s pen, like lecture notes

For the Note 10.1 its entirely plausible but at the same time, don't trust that post. Its copied and pasted from a really unreliable source.

Hi guys am using Nexus 5. And i have rooted it and flashed liquid smooth ROM. Now my concern is that wil i get lollypop update automatically as soon released by google? or should i haave to flash factory default ROM?
1. Does not belong in General section
2. There are threads regarding OTAs which can be found in the first thread of my signature, which is a sticky
3. There are dedicated Lollipop threads
4. No and yes
Why do people think they will get an ota from Google when they are running custom firmware?

Because they have no idea what they're doing. Why would anyone flash a custom Rom when they don't know what they're doing? That's what gets me.

Are you also concerned about updates when there are new versions of SlimROM? Or Paranoid Android? Cyanogenmod? You shouldn't be because those are ROMs that you're not currently using. In the end, the Google image is just another TOM.
Please follow the rules before opening a new thread.
Any Developers or people who's working or done with the lollipop 5.0 rom for infuse? I just want to experience the new material design.
They have said once beanstalk is ported they'd give it a go.

I'm working on it, could be interesting if we can use this kernel on our device
https://github.com/hak86/android_kernel_samsung_aries
since infuse has 2.6 kernel and required a lot of changes to make lollipop
I am unsure about specs but you might visit the Samsung Galaxy player 4.0 and 5.0 forums, they are at least same gen devices and I saw lollipop is built on it.

Is there any progress on Lollipop for the Infuse? Still using mine. Thanks.
Lollipop is a ram eater. I tried it on the razrm and it didn't go well. Wound up reverting to kitkat. I'm sorry but at some point even if you can, you shouldn't and I think all devs are realizing this.

I think people should just run the latest that's available, or get a new phone. A Moto E is 3 times the phone the Infuse is, and can be had for $30 if you buy it at the right time. Plus it runs Lollipop out of the box. Methinks trying to run 5.0 on a 4 yr old device is near impossible.

Hey mates,
Please hold your horses and hear me out!
Until we get a working Xposed, I would prefer to rock marshmallow for a few modules that I like.
Is there an available ROM or stock image that I can use for that purpose? I know I may have to wait for stable TWRP as well.
Planning to install that on a Verizon pixel, although will likely use it on T-Mobile network.
Thanks!
