Don't hold your breath....

We don't need to. We have root. You're waiting for 4.2 while I've had 4.3 on my tablet for a week now. With the 2014 edition coming out I can promise someone's going to port it to our device. Just a matter of time.

You can root as others have suggested but if you want official, you're not getting 4.2. They are skipping and going to 4.3 I would assume by the end of the year but who knows

I assume 4.2 and 4.3 on the tablet will kill spen? I would like to go newer, but I actually use my spen for notes. I haven't seen a definite answer yet. But I might have missed it.

can someone clarify the s pen issue?
i use it for drawing to its pretty important for me.
if i install a custom 4.2 or 4.3 rom, do i loose s pen functionality?

You don't lose S pen functionality, but you will have to install some 3rd party apps that use the s pen, like lecture notes

For the Note 10.1 its entirely plausible but at the same time, don't trust that post. Its copied and pasted from a really unreliable source.

Cool, thanks Joey, I appreciate the clarification. Also, that works out perfect because I already use lecture notes.

sweet thanks Joey. I use autodesk sketchbook, dont touch any of the samsung stuff.

Flipboard unsupported.. Tragedy..

I'm running jelly bean on my 8013 and I noticed when I tried to download Flip board it said it was not supported on my device. Why is that?

I don't think it's supported on most Samsung devices. I sideload a beta version that I had on my older Android tablet.

A beta version that's supported? Can you kindly upload it? That would be great as it is the finest reader I have found, unless there is something better in terms of sleekness and functionality that I am unaware of.

Don't think so. It supported on Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 as well as Note 2, s3, s2.
It has got to do with the Jelly Bean version of Note 10.1.

Now via Play .

4.1.1 emoji help

I updated my Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5113 to jellybean today and I was ecstatic. Ive been waiting for jellybean since I got this. I watched plenty of phones with jellybean reviews and they mentioned emoji support.
I can see emoji but I can't access them!

I guess that GTab 3 as a dual core device breaks the rumour that Android 5.0 will require a quadcore device..
may tab3 will never see KLP its will just get 4.3+ and value pack
I don´t think that Samsung will release 4.3 for Galaxy Tab 2. I get´s cheaper and Samsung don´t need to make Money with it. I think Tab 3 will get it.

Samsung is upgrading the first gen of Galaxy Tabs (Tab Plus, Tab 7.7) to Jelly Bean, they were released a long time earlier than GTab2 so Samsung will not 'kill' our device with only two updates...
But if Samsung include Multiwinfdows in 4.2 update, i won't need 4.3 exactly..

Maybe not, but I've seen other companies do it, and with 4.2.2 that would make three, at least since i got mine.

Samsung should have had better battery performance. I would like to see.
Knowing the way that Samsung likes to update their devices, I'm not even going to hold my breath. It took them forever and a day after the Tab 2 released to even think about updating it from ICS to JB.
Sent from my GT-P5110 using xda app-developers app
i've stopped getting excited
eventually someone will port new Android
I think, XDA developers will port new iteration of Android for TAB 2.
Switching to Nexus
I really liked my Samsung Note and Samsung Tab 2 but these update issues have helped me decide that I am soon buying a Nexus 7 and Nexus 5 when it comes out.
My LG Nexus 4 has finally received the 4.3 update, but the Tab 2 is still waiting (forever?).
So I think by now, it is fair to say that the Tab will NOT get 4.3 which is a crying shame! I love my N4 on JB 4.3! Its so much smoother and finally the screen sensitivity has been addressed.....
i am using unofficial CM 10.2(4.3)...it had some root issues but it has been solved.it is still early but i am surprised how well almost everything works...there is tread here on xda in development section

I know the reason why these b*stards don't give any 4.3+ update for us.
Samsung has done only one good think in his phones. He sells it with unlocked bootloader.

s3mini on novathor is not getting kitkat also. Only US version of s3mini(almost completely diffrent device) on qualcomm is getting an update.
And what's the moral of it? Never believe in rumours, and NEVER EVER BELIEVE Sammy. Oh wait I forgot... they kept their promise, they gave us JB... Yeah, right... Fck sammy.
---------- Post added at 11:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:06 PM ----------
Hahaha I just remembered that Sammy sait that they will provide many mid range devices with Kitkat, coz it's lighter than JB ! ROFL
Maclaw said, that, the US version of the s3 mini, and from what i learned, the "US" version is the AT&T variant, i seriously don't think that Sammsung is goin to invest in the few hundreads(?) of AT&T S3 Mini version (i think it has express name or something), when they can invest in the vastly international version sold in USA and almost all the american continent (the GT-i8790L).
Anyway time will tell maybe later this month Sammobile is going to have STE Novathor firmwares of S3 Mini.
Even then we have more than amazing dev's and we are in the golden age for our device, also i think that by years end most of us will be having new cellphones.
I think if wolft will came back witch android 4.4 costom rom witch touchwizz we will feel the same feeling as official kitkat for our devices.

It's better...with 4.1.2 samsung hasn't working well
Yeah we wouldn't get a decent OS anyway
I don't think the rom is itself would be good. I don't like the touchwiz experience that much. But it would mean newer kernel sources, and newer binary blobs, such as OMX components, Mali libs, etc... All those could improve the current state of Team Canjica's CM11 (which I'm currently happily using).
Given all the 4.4.2 ROMs floating around, it wouldn't be much of a hassle for Samsung to make an upgrade (not taking Touchwiz into account).

[Q] Android 4.3 JB for Nexus 5 request

Maybe the stangest request in xda´s time
As I need an app only compatible with 4.3 and nothing newer to run on my rooted Nexus 5, I desperately need JB for my Nexus. Does this exist or do I need a tech friend (or someone in here to bake a rom for me. Is this even possible?
Kind regards
Some q&a
Q) Is it technically possible?
A) Pretty much anything is technically possible
Q) On a scale of 1-100, how difficult is it?
A) 99.9999
Q) Will anyone ever release JB for N5?
A) Nope
Q) Not even if I ask nicely?
A) Nope
Q) Why not? Why is it so difficult?
A) The N5 was not released with JB. There is no JB Source code compatible with the N5. There are no devices with the same hardware as the N5 on JB. All the drivers and kernel would need to be backported. This is an extremely difficult, if not impossible task. No one will do this.

Sounds like you need to get on the app developers ass to update his useless JB only drivel
Maybe a stupid question, but have you tried sideloading the app? The reason I ask is because while it may not officially support KK, you may still be able to sideload it. T-Mobile VV for example didn't officially support KK until a few weeks ago (and consequently couldn't be installed through GP), but many people, myself included were still able to sideload it and it worked just fine. If you can't sideload it you'd have better luck pressing the app creator to update his app. No developer is ever going to port an outdated version of Android.
