New update, what is it's nature? - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

I just got a notification about an update to be installed. It downloaded while sleeping, tried to see what build or see the info but nothing on it in the software update app.... After restarting the phone to get it installed, I checked software update and there is no info on it too!
In the updating process, the device booted up without entering recovery, I wonder if this a real update or just a fake message from huawei?

It would be helpful if you declared your full name Build name/number from Settings/About, patches and updates depend on what you have
It's not a fake update but if not a firmware update (no more new ones for Mate 9), it might be some patch (your screenshot says System Settings), usually it adds/updates Patch0X to the Build number

If you previously⁵ had all the same but ending with Patch02 then you just received Patch03.
You can search here, it was commented about Patch02 and Pstch03.
Months ago, I don't recall, only small patches with no further info than what you had in the notification

I don't actually remember that, sad it wasn't a big deal...
Thank you tho.

After the update only way to activate the control toggles is via fingerprint swipe down. Can't swipe from the screen anymore.

Hello,
I also got an update..but it's patch05 my current version is 9.1.0.252(C432E7R1P8patch05)
The contents of log screen is
" Cette mise à jour améliore la compatibilité du système avec certaines applications tierces" (I'm in France)
"This update improves system compatibility with certain third-party applications" (Google translate)
I notice no change or trouble with this update

Tonight I also got System Settings update by OTA.
I had b252 Patch03 before this update, and it remained after the update (patch number was not incremented)

Same for me as the OP stated...

Settings update

After installing ICS last week i am now seeing another update entitled "settings Update" which is about 15mb in size. Anyone know what it is/does. Also it downloads ok but fails to install. Anyone managed to install ok? Thanks in advance.
It doesn't install on my sim free Sensation XE either (still waiting for ICS!).
Posted about it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24674922&postcount=306
I've just received OTA update named as Settings application update.. (problem I have different language and translation was wrong). I have had 1st wave OTA 4.0.3 update installed on stock Sensation. Did not find out what has changed and unfortunatelly did not have filename because it was installed just after update without reboot request. I see version 4.0.3/Sense 3.6/3.32.401.5 CL309896 ...
Somebody with the same update ?

Settings application:
current version (after the update) is: 4.0.2213332163.350357
In about Settings application there is: 1.00.0048.309896 (original build version)
ya, i got the setting update too, but no idea what has changed...
I successfully installed the 'settings' update, so far all I can see is a not very good attempt at spelling fixes!
Stock xe UK on ics!

At least it now reads "Airplane mode"
MrSums
My Exchange account settings are now persistant accross reboots.. But I did not checked it before - just test now and it seems to be ok .. Facebook sync looks better now also.. But I still don't see some security settings (still did not make hardreset).
This is the reason for the update:
HTC has developed a fix for a WiFi issue affecting some HTC devices. Most products have received this fix already through regular updates. However, some will need to have the fix manually loaded.
Devices listed below have already received a fix through our regular update process. If your product is not listed, please enter your serial number below to check if your device needs an update.

Applied this update on 4.0.3 and I can see the device administrator settings now which weren't there before in my case. I had to get them by bootloader factory reset.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA
Now when i search for this update it is not found. Instead it came up with applicaion update and downloaded it and installed fine. Not sure what this has done or what has happened to the settigs update. when i search for software updates now it says none found and up to date.

[Q] The update was downloaded, but couldn't be opened. (8007000d)

Hello Everybody,
A few days ago, I tried to check if I have an update possibility. The phone via OTA noted that there is an available update, and started to download it. After the download the preparation went through (it was strange that during the preparation the progress bar from 81% immediately jumped to 95%, but apart from that there was nothing special). After it showed the error message what is in the subject: 'The update was downloaded...' and error code 8007000d.
I've tried to do a search on the net without any luck. I tried to update after a factory reset, of course haven't solved the problem.
Finally, I downloaded care suite, connected to it my phone, and it said that my phone software is up-to-date. So what the f..k? OTA says there is an update, care suite says my phone is up-to-date?
I also tried to find an eligible update from navifirm but for the product code I have (based on the data provided by care suite) there are nothing.
Does anyone have some idea what is going on around my phone?

Android/Stock firmware 5.1.1 system update

Hi everyone!
I've just received and successfully installed a system update for Android 5.1.1 and it says exactly zero about itself. Even Android's version hasn't changed.
Does anyone have any idea what it fixes? I surmise it fixes two recent holes but 10MB sounds a little too much for that.
I also got but nothing happened
Sent from my Nexus 5
I got it, I'm updating manually since for some reason my phone never wants to update the regular way.
It addresses the Stagefright vulnerability
How can I apply this update manually?
It doesn't apply automatically - there are no errors, nothing. I've rebooted my phone three times already and it wants to install it again.

flash it through ADB
I use this thread as reference just to make sure I don't miss any step but there are a few others threads like this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/guide-update-rooted-device-to-5-1-lmy47d-t3050789
OTA install error
I got the OTA notification to download & install the Stagefright patch. Every time I try to install it, it says "error!" shortly after it starts to install and shows the android with a red exclamation point.
My nexus 5 is stock & unrooted.
Any idea what's causing this and how to force the install? If not, I can sideload OTA with ADB later tonight.
Thanks!
I think the build number should have changed to LMY48I.

I've had my first freeze and first complete blackout since this small update
This should be the monthly update mentioned on main page
This update is worthless: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/0...efright_fix_wont_be_resolved_until_september/
I will skip it.

is this safe to install!!?

Just got checked and found this update in setting, but there is no change log info for this update kinda worry to install. Any suggestions would be helpful for me, thnx. Current running H8 frd-L09 B386 (no rooted).
it would mostly be only security patch unless there was some major bugs highlighted and been fixed. mostly April patch only.
i would say stay there because i have installed the later updates (almost 3 after that version) and they are crap bs, made my phone laggy and ram cant hold out games in background for long and also my phone is heating up.

I got this notice too today.
I update, it rebooted after I clicked on it. Normal boot, no update during boot, boot complete, it says system settings updated...
But I don't know what's changed? Also on the P20 Pro?

Maybe they are preparing for harmony os dual boot or something?

Same here
Did notice something saying that feature advisor is running
I received the same thing and I couldn't find any information regarding the update. Was thinking something is not right and not the usual update process we are used to.
Hopefully someone fingers it out.
I also got this push notification for system settings, wasn't a normal update. My device a Huawei nova 3i.
Edit: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80680997&postcount=2
Honor 10 also received this system setting update.
Some news? I also received the update but I didn't notice any restart in recovery or changelog. Perhaps they have resolved the excessive consumption of the battery due to the system IU process.
The same with me today mate 20 pro
I noticed this update at the morning. I assumed it's related to daylight saving time. For example Israel moved the clock 1 hour back yesterday night.
updated but no clue.
Got the update too. It's a timezone fix
Which theme are you using nice one
