As the title say I want to know if there is a way to turn on WiFi hotspot without turning off WiFi I saw this feature in one of my friend's phone he was running 2.3 (Gingerbread). Is there anything like this for KitKat (4.4.2) ? Please recommend external apps or method.
Thanks

So what you want to do is connect to WiFi hotspot and WiFi at the same time?

its not software related, its built in to the phone itself. most phones cant handle both connections at the same time.

No turn on hotspot to provide WiFi to other device without turning off WiFi so that it will not consume my mobile data

If so it isn't possible to do it manually only trough apps, I suppose.
Try search Google for it if not successful try search in Google Play you might find something
If still not successful then I'm out of options
Edit: Unless you find out a way to create 2 different Wi-Fi's with the same connection. To do it you will need to go to your Internet Connection Settings trough your IP in any browser to find the IP go start than search CMD press ENTER then type Ipconfig and it should be under IPv4. Then copy your IP place it into browsers address bar pres enter. You will be provided to enter login and password. So type admin to login and admin to password. And from there you are all alone.

So, if you already have wifi, why do you need to use your phone as a hotspot, if one already exists? Or are you looking to use it as a repeater?

Hi, I'm looking for this setting, to avoid introducing my PIN when I'm at home or connected to a specific device (BT)... Is it there ? I can't find it under Security settings.
Thnx a lot in advance.
It's Settings, in Security, under Smart Lock.

Hi... anyone know why there's no "Smart Lock" while connecting to certain WiFi networks? For now only bluetooth, nfc, geo locations and faces...
Thanks...

Solved!
I needed to activate "Smart Lock (Google)" at the end of the page, under "Advanced Options" in "Trusted Agents".
Thnx and regards.

That's... weird.
I had previously suspected Smart Lock was now part of Google Play Services and not Android, but this time around the settings seemed more conclusive that it was really stock Android.

Simply because wifi isn't an option for smart lock. It would need to be modified to trigger on wifi networks as well. Not sure why they decided not to, maybe because it would be less secure?
Does anybody know if there's an app for the Gear s3 that will allow me to lock and/or shutdown the phone remotely?
I found one (Phone Remote) that allows me to control volume and few other settings, but that's about it.
No there's not one

Unfortunately I could not find quick settings. Where did you find it?
... found how to track my device, but that's all.
If your phone has android 5.0+ .. you have a built in option called smart lock .. It will keep your phone unlocked when your gear is in range while auto locking when not in range .. kinda like a key to your phone

In that case Quick Settings from Tizen WebApp is the only app yet that does it but galaxy apps currently have some ridiculous restrictions about which apps to show who, if you cant find the app, you are out of luck.

Damn, I expected something like that. Those restrictions are really bulls***! But thanks for the info 10urshin.
ok .. haven't seen that type of app yet .. closest thing i could find was smart lock .. if your phone is too far it locks automatically with a password unlock and when in range of your watch the phone unlocks automatically :/

Create a task with Tasker to lock the phone. Use TaskS2 on watch to launch the locking task
you could use the Samsung findmymobile website(or your phone's equivalent if you use a different brand)
the are several web browsers available for the gear s3.
i just "located" my phone with Changyong Jeon's "Gear browser" and remotely triggered a "lost phone" ring, and i also had options for locking/unlocking and wiping.
tried looking one by one in galaxy apps utilities section to find the quick setting app. i dont think its there . any way we can sideload the app . i really need .

If you can find the tpk file, you should be able to install it using "sdb -install {path_to_tkp}".

I don't think it is possible to extract tpk's from watch without rooting. Try emailing them.

Maybe when seeing the Samsung store, you aren't ticking off Gear search. You may be looking through phone apps. Otherwise try updating your store app and try again.
Can anyone recommend a way to bypass the mobile Hotspot authorization or an app they're using to activate the Wi-Fi Hotspot?

Does the Tmobile firmware allow the VoLTE? Don't believe the unlocked does, use that frequently just because of bad reception in home.

I haven't tried the Tmobile firmware on this device, but had no issues on my S7e or my S8+. Didn't have wifi calling though, but I don't use that anyway.
I just flashed the unlocked firmware on it and I could use it just fine.
I'd like to know as well. Don't want to lose volte & Wi-Fi calling by flashing a different firmware.

Got it working last night using a method I found I think on the S8 section.
Use "BK disabler" and search system for "tether", disable all 3. I have attached a screen shot of them.
Set up your tether options, and make sure to Enable Wi-Fi sharing.
Now try to connect to any Wi-Fi network using a wrong password. While it's trying to connect quickly enable mobile hotspot, then turn off Wi-Fi.
I did it multiple times last night, it worked every time.
if you're looking for just an app then netshare no root tethering works, but since you have to use a proxy, it only allows internet to programs where you can configure proxy settings.

May I ask what firmware is your AT&T device running?
Hi I updated from BRA8 to CRB8 and lost my ability to have a hotspot. I am using it on AT&T and now have the bloatware. Can anyone help?
I just got the Note 8, updated it all the way. I guess I'm screwed on the hot spot?

hmnmm that first one is missing
There's a program around the net called wifirouter but I think it's only working on rooted devices
I've already tried googling, but most information is really old and doesn't seem to work. I'm trying to find a way to enable hotspot on my phone so that I can share my phone's data with my tablet. (I just want to watch video's on the tablet, since I think it's far more enjoyable on the larger screen) Is there anyway to get past the carrier's restrictions? Both devices are rooted if it helps.
Just put a vpn on or something or go through a proxy
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Yeah, but when I go into setting and try to enable hotspot I get the message "Service not supported. Please contact your service provider."
