App to Lock and/or Shutdown Phone Remotely? - Samsung Gear S3

Does anybody know if there's an app for the Gear s3 that will allow me to lock and/or shutdown the phone remotely?
I found one (Phone Remote) that allows me to control volume and few other settings, but that's about it.

No there's not one

Installed it, works.
Thanks!

Unfortunately I could not find quick settings. Where did you find it?
... found how to track my device, but that's all.

If your phone has android 5.0+ .. you have a built in option called smart lock .. It will keep your phone unlocked when your gear is in range while auto locking when not in range .. kinda like a key to your phone

Thats not remote.
Im sure he wants to use the watch to lock the device at a distance. Maybe over mobile data or WiFi.

In that case Quick Settings from Tizen WebApp is the only app yet that does it but galaxy apps currently have some ridiculous restrictions about which apps to show who, if you cant find the app, you are out of luck.

Damn, I expected something like that. Those restrictions are really bulls***! But thanks for the info 10urshin.

ok .. haven't seen that type of app yet .. closest thing i could find was smart lock .. if your phone is too far it locks automatically with a password unlock and when in range of your watch the phone unlocks automatically :/

Create a task with Tasker to lock the phone. Use TaskS2 on watch to launch the locking task

you could use the Samsung findmymobile website(or your phone's equivalent if you use a different brand)
the are several web browsers available for the gear s3.
i just "located" my phone with Changyong Jeon's "Gear browser" and remotely triggered a "lost phone" ring, and i also had options for locking/unlocking and wiping.

tried looking one by one in galaxy apps utilities section to find the quick setting app. i dont think its there . any way we can sideload the app . i really need .

If you can find the tpk file, you should be able to install it using "sdb -install {path_to_tkp}".

I don't think it is possible to extract tpk's from watch without rooting. Try emailing them.

Maybe when seeing the Samsung store, you aren't ticking off Gear search. You may be looking through phone apps. Otherwise try updating your store app and try again.

[Q] Smart Lock: Available in 5.0.1 ? [SOLVED]

Hi, I'm looking for this setting, to avoid introducing my PIN when I'm at home or connected to a specific device (BT)... Is it there ? I can't find it under Security settings.
Thnx a lot in advance.
It's Settings, in Security, under Smart Lock.

Hi... anyone know why there's no "Smart Lock" while connecting to certain WiFi networks? For now only bluetooth, nfc, geo locations and faces...
Thanks...

Solved!
I needed to activate "Smart Lock (Google)" at the end of the page, under "Advanced Options" in "Trusted Agents".
Thnx and regards.

That's... weird.
I had previously suspected Smart Lock was now part of Google Play Services and not Android, but this time around the settings seemed more conclusive that it was really stock Android.

Simply because wifi isn't an option for smart lock. It would need to be modified to trigger on wifi networks as well. Not sure why they decided not to, maybe because it would be less secure?

Any way to have no password while on certain WiFi(s)?

I have a Sprint GS8+ (just bought today!! ).... On my S6, I had Xposed and a module called No Lock Home, which would allow me to have no password if I was on a trusted WiFi. Is this possible to achieve since there is no root+Xposed for the S8+? Thanks!
Go to the Play Store and download Tasker. It has a free trial but comes at a small price, like $3.99 I think, for use after the trial. Then use this tutorial.

You can do it based on the location using Smart Lock. Just search for it in settings. It's part of Android OS.
Smart lock, and then 'trusted places' or 'trusted devices'.
@Blis @kxdaorbit that's not what I'm talking about though, I already know about smart lock, I don't wanna always have to have my location either.
@kh4osX That doesn't work anymore. Notice how it's from 2012 lol.
Smart lock on location doesn't work.
I have found it to work one or twice but usually it doesn't.

Is smart lock with Bluetooth working?

On most android phones you can disable locking when specified devices are attached via Bluetooth.
I have multiple bt devices connected and functioning ok. However, when I go into the settings and select the smart lock category / button / option the entire settings app crashes back to launcher.
Had anyone wise succeeded with this feature?

It's working for me. I have smart lock enabled when connected to my car...
Did you de-bloat anything through adb as shown in other posts? Maybe it kills something off that is required?

No, I have done nothing to my phone. Its how it came from Hong Kong.
I just went to settings/security and privacy/screen lock & passwords/smart unlock.
Once I put my PIN in I just selected the Bluetooth device (my car) to use with smart unlock.
Be aware that you have to be connected to said Bluetooth device before you can select it for smart unlock....
I don't even get the list, just goes back to desktop. Time for another reset I guess

How to bypass carrier hotspot restrictions?

I've already tried googling, but most information is really old and doesn't seem to work. I'm trying to find a way to enable hotspot on my phone so that I can share my phone's data with my tablet. (I just want to watch video's on the tablet, since I think it's far more enjoyable on the larger screen) Is there anyway to get past the carrier's restrictions? Both devices are rooted if it helps.
Just put a vpn on or something or go through a proxy
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Yeah, but when I go into setting and try to enable hotspot I get the message "Service not supported. Please contact your service provider."

My god, you're a legend. Thank you so much.

What happened to the mapping that the Gear S use to show for my walks, hikes, etc

Both my Gear S3 watch and the S-health app on my Android phone use to show a map of my route. I was able to share/send it via email from my phone and use it with some other computer mapping programs. I know its been gone a while but don't recall when it might have disappeared. Or maybe I've done something to kill that feature or its been moved to some sub-menu? I've just finally got around to asking what happened to it. Anyone know what's what?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks. Just looked around on the watch.
Is it on the watch or one of the Gear settings done in the phone app?
I don't see a specific GPS setting in the phone. I see some location/map stuff?

There are a setting in the watch setting : Location to enable or disable the watch GPS (like on phone), and other setting for each exercice in the SHealth app on the watch. When you launch a "Walk" exercice for exemple on the watch, there are some settings on watch screen and you can disable/enable the GPS for this exercice.
I have been looking around and tweaking various settings on both the watch and in S-health on my android phone. Location is ON. I have not been able to get back the map or track of my route. S-health on the phone use to be able to export or share a gpx route that I could view using Garmin software and I can't get that working either. I might be missing something obvious???? Thanks for any additional help.
Here's the type of maps that I had but are now gone:
I had the same issue, no map on watch after a training, and position switch was on.
But today I started manually a walk session and a pop-up appeared, on the watch, asking me to give permission for position.
So I confirmed the permission tapping on the check symbol and now it works again!
I think that this happened after I paired another phone which made an hard reset of the S3. It seems not enough to set position on, you should also confirm the position permission by manually starting a training session (if the session start in automatic detect, the popup does not appear).
