My Redmi Note 6 Pro keep turning the volume max constantly, even without me touching the phone. As for the volume buttons, I can only turn the volume down using the key, the volume up key doesnt seem to response. Can anyone tell me is this a software problem or a hardware one?
I am actually having the same issue. My volume sometimes randomly starts going all the way down, and only stops if I press the Volume Down Key.
The problem occured back when I had the stock ROM, then I flashed LineageOS 17.1 and the problem stopped for about 24 hours, and now it's back.
Does anyone know how to solve this, or how can I know if this is a hardware issue or a software one?

Anyone ever have issue with one of the volume buttons stop working? My down key doesn't decrease volume anymore but up key still works. When I go into recover with holding both volume up and down that still works. I can't find a solution. Anyone?
Mine still works as Vol Down, but the springiness of it is gone. In other words it doesn't feel like there is a detent for volume down, no feedback, I don't know if it is being pressed without seeing the screen. Does that make sense?
Anyway, I'm concerned with the build quality of this phone. I've only had it for 6 months, and the Vol Down has that issue, and the camera lense cover is cracked. What is next? How will I make it to 12/22/11 when I am eligible for another upgrade?
Hi!
I have this bug with my OnePlus One. When I press volume up or down, the usual volume panel doesn't appear and requires a reboot to work again. This happens around two times a day. If I press both up and down buttons, I can turn the phone on vibrating mode and back to normal. Really annoys me to have to reboot phone to change volume level.

I'm having a similar problem with the sound. It doesn't make the beeping sound when I increase or decrease the volume, so it's difficult to know the volume level unless i'm on a call or open the settings. Also the haptic feedback has stopped working even though it's enabled. Still had the same problem after restarting.
Hi, I'm having a problem here.
I've had my Nexus since Jan 2014. Today, I accidentally dropped it from around 50cm (With Spigen armor case on) and suddenly, the hard buttons stop working.
I cannot turn my phone on but I can force restart it (when I long-press it) so I know its a hardware problem. I can go on recovery mode/bootloader and use the volume buttons and power buttons to select and all but I can't use it on my 5.0.1 L. I tried reflashing 5.0.1 but to no avail. Any help?
Thank you.
Bump-chikki-chikki-bump. I really need help, guys! It's my daily driver.
What do you want us to do? You said it was a hardware problem. Repair shop or RMA it...

Best option is to have it fixed.
Quick fix would be to flash a ROM or kernel with double tap to wake (DT2W).
Hmm. Okay, noted. Thank you.
Are you sure it's a hardware problem? You said the power button works when you hold it down to restart the phone. I'm having the same issue where the power button (AND VOLUME BUTTONS) don't work in any ROM but I can hold down the power button and volume button to get into recovery and restart. It's only intermittent too so sometimes it will start working and then sometimes it stops for no reason and I can't work out any pattern. even reflashing a rom doesn't fix.

Same here!!
I've been searching for possible causes and fixes for the EXACT same issue - hardware buttons work fine in bootloader but unresponsive in Android. I've only ever run stock and reflashing made no difference.
I am of the assumption that it's NOT a hardware issue, since long-press to reset works fine and volume/power buttons consistently work OK in bootloader (not intermittent at all).
Since I've reflashed to stock several times to no avail, I guess the next option is RMA. I do keep pondering if this is a Lollipop-created issue, but that doesn't fit the symptoms...
exactly, if it was a lollipop issue a lot more people would be having the same problem.
Hey there,
my Nexus 5 (Android 6.0.1, Security Patch-Level: 2017/10/05) appears to be suffering from a stuck volume up button.
I have had a similar problem regarding the power button, which sent my Nexus 5 into endless bootloops. I was able to solve the power button problem by hitting the phone against the palm of my hand repeatedly.
In the case of the power button there doesn't seem to be an easy fix. Smacking it against my hand did not do the trick. The problem appears to occur randomly with the ringtone and/or media volume jumping to full blast from one second to the next.
In some cases I can lower the volume and it stays that way. Other times I can press and hold the volume down button and upon release it jumps right back to full volume.
I will try the following steps:
1) Diassemble the phone and clean the buttons
2) Flash the stock ROM to make sure, that it is not a software issue
I was wondering if you had any ideas/ additional steps, which I can take to fix the problem?
Thanks in advance!
Ron
Just got mine back from repair, got stuck in bootloop, only new microswitch helped.
I also suspected the ROM, but now it's fine again.
So I do recommend to change the microswitch, it's cheap...
Just be careful (or mention it to whoever will do it), it's being held in place not just with the solder but also somehow glued to the PCB. Don't force it too much. Take your time.

Im still running android 9 and over the last few months, my phone turns off randomly and i have to press both volume keys and power button for 10 seconds to restart the phone. What might be causing this? Should i update to android 10? Have most of the bugs been ironed out? Thx
Actually, something like this happens to me on Custom ROMs. The phone goes randomly black screen and need to restart it the same way.
