Hey folks, I'm currently on the official Android Oreo build with root and noticed, that whenever I want to buy an app the play store crashes. Anyone experienced something similar?

Yes. Unrooted and it crashes with purchases. Tried wiping cache and data for play store. Thinking of doing a factory reset. On Pixel XL.

I had something similar in the past couple of days. Try searching Google on play store and then have a look at any Google apps that need updating, particularly Android system Web view

That is the culprit. Try wiping data and cache in app. Or maybe uninstalling it and reinstalling straight away? I was able to enable it so just suggestions here. Keep trying.

Maybe a coincidence then. Have you tried logging out of your Google account? Or wiping all your account settings and logging in again?

No success again. Is there a way to remove root on the Oreo builds? Couldn't find anything since this topic is pretty new at all. Will fastboot flashing the boot img from the Oreo build be sufficient?

There's nothing wrong with your web view. It's that way by design. It has been since Nougat. By default Nougat and Oreo use Chrome instead of Android System WebView. That's why you can't enable it right now. You can change it so it uses WebView instead in developer options.
Google explains how Chrome will become WebView in Android 7.0

Ever find a solution? I haven't had a chance to factory reset yet, will likely do so this weekend unless an alternative solution exists.

Did a factory reset, didn't help though. Had to reflash the Oreo image. Rooted again and play store works fine now.
I having this issue right now. Now using android Oreo. Any of you face this issue before? and how to fix it? Please help me
Not spontaneously - did you flash or install something new just before it happened? If not it may be a hardware issue...
if you did, undo it if you can.
Hello,
I am experiencing a weird problem which I am unable to determine the cause.
My settings screen labels are not correct. (See screenshot)
This is only happening in the main settings screen. The sub menus all appear to be fine.
I am rooted.
I tried re-flashing the stock image to no avail.
I was running renovate ice but disabled it when 9.5.9 came out. I tried re-flashing renovate ice as well in case there was a conflict from an older version.
Any help is appreciated. I am trying to avoid factory resetting, but may have to resort to that.
Anyone else experienced this?

Do you have any other magisk modules ?

I have systemless hosts enabled.
I had NFS-Injector and magisk recovery, but I have disabled those.
No other modules are loaded.
Renovate is mostly the cause, I've had this happened before. A clean flash might be your only option as it's obviously tweaked something that hasnt reversed so far

I'd stray from renovate completely; they're still not very stable and can boot loop and lag.. Until then, best of luck.
So as I was running my titanium backups and preparing for a wipe, I tried searching the renovate ice telegram group and sure enough I am not alone with this issue and there is a solution.
This was caused by me installing the 9.5.9 OOS update with renovate ice module still enabled.
The fix is simple:
Boot to twrp
Install the zip I downloaded from the telegram group (attached)
Reboot

Used it loads with no problems. You should just never update with magisk modules enabled
Hi guys, so I didnt know that you had to unhide magisk in order to update, this morning I got the notification to update it, clicked on it, and boom, doesnt open anymore, opens for a split second and crashes.
uninstalled the shortcut, installed the apk again, but still same, won't open. Root and everything works as usualy, but It won't open the app.
I run stock OS with just magisk for rooting and some modules.
is there a way to uninstall it completely? I imagine being hidden its still installed under another package name, I tried searching for it but can't find anything....
I hope there is a solution that doesnt require wiping and starting over......
Thanks!!
FIXED, I had version 25206 installed, and when updating to 25207, it wouldnt open, found another apk of 25206, reinstalled, it works now!
For some reason, can't seem to update it, I unhide magisk, update the app, its back to not opening, something is wrong here and I cant figure out what exactly.
I've never unhidden Magisk before updating fwiw...

me neither, but I read somewhere you had to unhide it before updating just in case, thing is now it wont update, doesnt matter if its hidden or unhidden, after installing, it just crashes on opening.
EDIT: seems like its a common issue with canary builds. will wait for a fix.

Canary Magisk 25207 had a bug in it which prevented the app from opening. It has been fixed so hopefully a new build will be released soon.

My phone removes permissions of apps always after a few days, sometimes after a reboot. Today this was the case after installing the new os update.
This is most problematic for bitwarden and my file manager. It's the "manage all files permission" and the "overlay over other apps permission". I already made sure, that the permission removal option is off.
Any ideas why this happens?

Since you have already checked this setting, it appears to be a software bug, since it started after an update.

Actually, this did not start after an update, but usually the permissions get removed after updates or restarts. I had this issue since the beginning - I bought it about 3 weeks ago.

I guess this is Android 13 problem. I see similar problems on my OnePlus 8T and iQOO Neo 6, and both of them are running on Android 13. Some of the settings get reset after a reboot and I have to reconfigure everything from scratch. Pretty annoying.
Thanks for your reply. I found something similar here:

Maybe I'll try to factory reset.

Factory reset is unlikely to solve this problem.
This bug must be fixed by Google, or the OEM since they have their own implementation. I don't have this problem on my S22U, but I do have it on my OnePlus and iQOO phones.
