My phone removes permissions of apps always after a few days, sometimes after a reboot. Today this was the case after installing the new os update.
This is most problematic for bitwarden and my file manager. It's the "manage all files permission" and the "overlay over other apps permission". I already made sure, that the permission removal option is off.
Any ideas why this happens?

Since you have already checked this setting, it appears to be a software bug, since it started after an update.

Actually, this did not start after an update, but usually the permissions get removed after updates or restarts. I had this issue since the beginning - I bought it about 3 weeks ago.

I guess this is Android 13 problem. I see similar problems on my OnePlus 8T and iQOO Neo 6, and both of them are running on Android 13. Some of the settings get reset after a reboot and I have to reconfigure everything from scratch. Pretty annoying.
Thanks for your reply. I found something similar here:

Maybe I'll try to factory reset.

Factory reset is unlikely to solve this problem.
This bug must be fixed by Google, or the OEM since they have their own implementation. I don't have this problem on my S22U, but I do have it on my OnePlus and iQOO phones.

I got my Transformer yesterday, and I'm still discovering all its features.
But I'm having a little problem...
My unit when I turned it on for the first time was missing some apps, like MyDesktop.
Also, I was experiencing some issued which I believe were fixed, like MyNet being in Spanish instead of English (I'm Italian but I use English on all my systems)
I thought it wasn't fully updated, went to Settings->About Tablet->System Update, and checked for updates.
The result was (and still is) "There is no update currently available for your device"
Any ideas?
Hi, I have been trying to update my Transformer for the past couple of days with the same results, no update found I can only think that either the server is busy or the update has been removed temporarily.

Thanks, Neil.
Knowing that I'm not the only one having this issue at least calms a bit the fear that something isn't working on my side.
Let's hope we manage to update as soon as possible - I'd really like to check the new stuff
Have you tried clearing the caches for all the system and Asus apps in the settings, rebooted, and then attempted the update again? Or a full reset?
If i were you two i would seriously consider rooting it and apply the update via the rooted update in the android development thread. Just my .02$

Yup, cleared the cache for all the apps, rebooted, and... same result.
I haven't done a complete restore to factory settings yet, but yesterday I tried the update as soon as I turned the thing on, before installing anything, so that should be as close to factory settings as possible.

Actually, I'm a bit scared about rooting the device. I know I won't install alternative OS's and I'll never tamper with the system innards, so rooting is not really a priority for me.
Meanwhile, I've also dropped a note to Asus support, let's see if they can shed some light...

Hi
I got my phone back and recovered it through a backup from TWRP.
Everything went smooth, besides half my drop-down menu settings are gone. Anyone with similar problems?
Attached picture. Missing things like Mobile Data on/off
I have the same issue after replacing some of the toggles. Now I can't turn data off wtf

I can't understand how it can disappear without any update. Like Samsung sat a date in the system it should disappear on
Maybe it's there when we wake up tomorrow.
i am now having this problem, the phone rebooted itself which has been reported on the net by lots of people and after i downloaded an app i noticed that this mobile data icon has disappeared. i have about 32 gb of space left on my phone so i dont understand what has happened here.
happened to me to today , 920i not rooted, Saudi Arabia
So what was the point of OTA update? What's changed beside disappearing toggles?
I'm having the same issue here in Ireland since yesterday. Spoke with Samsung support and they said factory reset should fix it but I haven't done it yet
Has anyone tried a factory reset to see if it worked?

I've read that some people tested it and factory reset is not working as far as i know... If you have rooted your phone, there are some solutions exist. Otherwise, we have to wait for a fix.

great tip, but due to the hardware problems I've had I rather not root (and yes I know that pingpongroot doesn't trigger kn0x).
Ok so I rooted 7 days ago from a clean install from odin and did all the trickster/interactive, force gpu etc to make it running smooth. But today I started experiencing apps like soundcloud crashing and giving me notifications it stopped, and then finally google play did it, now I just figured restarting the phone would normally fix it. But no, all it did was reboot, after the carrier sign it just vibrates and keeps vibrating and never boots up even after 15 minutes.
So I decided to just do a clean install and unroot again with my sammobile download. So I rooted AGAIN and shortly after, it started doing it.
Then I did a clean install again and rooted, now it's working fine for now. Anyone experience this? I have 20 days to return the phone, I got it from swappa
The same thing happened to me out of nowhere. I've read elsewhere of this happening to other people. I don't know what causes it. A clean install should fix your problem, but no telling when or if it will happen again.

You were rooted right? has this ever happened while you were stock?
I was rooted, the only thing that may have been different than the op, was the I had xposed installed. But as I said. After the clean install of the most recent firmware the crashes and boot loop stopped ave battery life improved as well. Also this has never happened to me until I rooted my device.

You need to use Titanium backup to freeze the Security policy update agent. I've had the same problem and after doing a search I found this thread with a lot of useful information.

lol No I'm not sure it works but someone else is sure it works. I'll be honest with you. This is my third attempt at rooting this phone. I rooted when the option first came out and 1 week later I got bootlooped so I went back to stock and rerooted. A week later bootloops. That's when I gave up until more information surfaced on my problem. And behold it did. That's when I learned about freezing the security policy update. And it makes sense to me too.

Corwinder is absolutely right. I read through that thread as well. AS SOON as you take that POLICY UPDATE that it tells you to accept, you're done. From that point on its only a matter of time before you experience a BOOTLOOP. NEVER UPDATE THE SECURITY POLICY WHEN IT POPS UP. DISABLE SECURITY POLICY. Haven't had a bootloop in 4 days now.
Corwinder I'm actually on my third root as well, hah. Third time is a charm. I just want to restate that it's not just disabling security policy.... If you accept that security policy update pop up which happens probably ~5mins after you rooted, you're going to bootloop. You can also disable security policy updates in settings. Do this as soon as you root. Settings -> Lock Screen & Security -> Other security Settings -> Security Policy Updates -> Turn off automatic updates.
Thank you guys for this thread / help.
Woke up today and wanted to see what offers were available on T-Mobiles Tuesday App. Said that the app needed updated, then Google.playstore keep crashing. Reboot phone and ran into the famout bootloader screen / process.
Saw this thread days ago and followed the steps and I "think" im good now.
Step that I took :
Reflashed PG1 through Odin v3.12 (Prince Comsy)
Reapply root / SuperSU
Disabled security policy settings by going to Settings -> Lock Screen & Security -> Other security Settings -> Security Policy Updates -> Turn off automatic updates.
Downloaded TitaniumBackup / Flashfire
Applied fix+debloat script via Flashfire
Deleted more Bloatware through Titanium Backup.
Enjoying fast, responsive phone

Has anyone else had any of these problems with their oneplus 6?
-files disappear after each reboot
-keyboard stops functioning on lock screen and I can't unlock the device
-apps randomly losing their data such as Snapchat/Instagram and I have to log back in
-can't use any other keyboard with a password since the device comes encrypted. My s7 used default keyboard before being decrypted.
I have factory reset at least 3-4 times since I have owned the device.
Oneplus customer support said in regards to my files being randomly deleted, "You should just backup your stuff with google drive". Is that really the solution? Just expect my files to be erased and have to recover from backup after each reboot? Most of the customer support people never understand my problems that I am trying to tell them and I can hardly understand them either. Sorry for ranting a bit. I was excited to get rid of my galaxy s7 and try something new that I was told has good rom support and little no bloat on stock ROM, but I've been very disappointed. I guess after seeing their customer support is partnered with Acer it makes sense.
Try a factory reset. I haven't heard anyone report such issues on OP6 before. If it still doesn't work after a factory reset, I would look for a warranty replacement

I've factory reset 3-4 times and still have the same issues. Corrupted ROM perhaps? I have seen a few people on one plus forums talk about how their files are being deleted, but those threads disappear magically. I talked to two people today who have the same issue.

I've been using it for almost a week with 0 issues... It's probably a faulty unit you're having, make sure it's running the latest 5.1.8 software.
Try installing a custom rom and see if it sorts things out

which files is it deleting and from what directory? never had any issues, really think a fresh install is best way, start over and don't do any fancy crap at first (root, etc). It's possible you had a bad flash or bad download. Download a fresh copy of 5.1.8, check the MD5, and install from the system updater (not twrp). If the problems persist, you may have a faulty unit. In nearly a month, I haven't had any of the problems you describe.

I think I just realized I may have done reset system settings instead of factory reset.
Hey
since I installed the official android 12 update on my phone I am getting restarts at around5am-6am as well as some strange playstore errors when installing applications.
Does anyone knows why these errors occour?
unfortunately at this time I can only attach the logs of the playstore error while installing an app as I am sleeping around 5am/6am and I cant create logs in time.
Probably auto restart is active.
Lol, probably shouldn't have been so eager to move to 12.
yeah, the same thought occured to me as well haha
nah autorestart is disabled, checked that as well. Changed my csc via samkey, maybe that caused the issue. I will reset my phone tomorrow maybe.

Yeah a factory reset is mandatory. Lol, maybe auto restart is a permanent Android 12 feature.
For users like me that run for days at a time without rebooting
