xda loosing popularity? - General Questions and Answers

Hello,
I noticed recently that in most phones forums where in the past was pretty crowded, right now we have very small communities. I measure this by seeying 50 thanks, instead of 300-400 as before.
What is your opinion?
Thanks

Maybe everyone goes to social media

I thinks is becoming to decadence

[Q] [Request] Forum App

I don't know where the right place to post this would be, but I am a member of a forum that has upwards of 3k+ people online at any given time. As far as i know of, there is not an App for it, just a mobile site that is VERY limited.
I was wondering if it's a pretty big deal to create an App like the XDA App for another forum? It would be amazing and make life a whole lot easier for lots of people.
I am sure there is more work than I would assume, but just throwing it out to ask.
The site is ar15.com. Check it out, click on General tab and scroll to the bottom to see how many people are on ATM.
Thanks
Xda app is just the basic crippled version of tapatalk. Get it and if your forum isn't already in their database just email them to add it.

Forum newbie rules!

I have in the last few months purchased a htc desire to replace my motorola dext (cliq).
With my previous phone I have plenty of modding experience (if anyone knows anything about the cliq they'll understand)
But due to the rules here I am unable to offer my advice and knowledge wih rom issues, of which there have been a few with desire roms.
If any mods read this, can you please remove the restrictions in place on my account, so I can participate actively in the htc desire development section, and be able to help out fellow modders.
Regards
Ryan

Running in to the same issue with Xoom.
I've been working on this for over a year but I can't post cuzz of the newb rulls.
As far as I'm concerned we're all here to learn from others and let others learn from ourselves.
This is the only android forum I've come across with this ridiculous rule in place, restricting the sharing of knowledge because I'm deemed too " inexperienced".
Just because I'm new too XDA obviously means I'm new too android as well. Its a joke.

Guys, it is so easy just post 10 postings (you can do that in an hour) and all restrictions are removed. It is easy as saying in a posting "i agree" or " wow, interesting" do 10 pointless postings and you are good to go
Thanks for the advice, but its not really the point.

It can take up to an hour for your privileges to change.

Don't make pointless and meaningless posts outside of Off-Topic.
Also, try to contribute
I am in the same boat wanted to post but I guess Ill need 9 more
interesting
interesting ;-)
the only posting limit before 10 posts is development areas. (about 1/6 of the forums)
if you are a developer, use you vast knowledge to help 10 people
if you have a question about something in development ask your question in Q&A
but search first. it is better to reply to a pre-existing thread than to start a new one!
(this thread case in point)
there is no reason to complain or spam post " i agree "
Interesting! (sorry, needed 1 more)

That rather highlights the foolishness of having a 10-post restriction. Just about anyone will look at this and go, okay, let's just post 10 worthless messages and get around the restriction. In the end it does nothing to promote a better quality of user while at the same time clogging up the general forums with messages that are a complete waste of time and disk space. Like this one.
10 post restriction
I agree totally!
9 more to go!
And now theres people wanting to change off-topic to also having the 10 post restriction? I dont get it

[XDA App][FIX] New forum not showing up on your XDA App? Try this!

Hi!
So, for those of you who haven't heard, we've got a new sub-forum (YIPPIE!). It's located in the "Legacy Device and Low Activity" forum (previously just "Legacy Device" forum).
A lot of you use the XDA App and have noticed, or rather noticed the lack of the forum (still in the old place, in the old order).
Solution: A simple sign out and sign in from the XDA App.
See you on the other side!

I appreciate ur info buddy. But i think this should be posted in general thread as a general information. Plz take care of it from next time dude
-double post-
Yeah... Srry about that. Actually I had intended it for the old dev section so people could find this forum, from that old section. Anyways, a mod moved it over!

[Q] how in the world?

Am I supposed to get to ten posts when I don't have any questions, and I'm not allowed to post in the Dev forums.
I created this account for the sole purpose of giving feedback and helping people in android dev forums, and I can't do that until I have ten posts. *meh*
Got the same problem dude

How about answering some questions in here. Dev sections aren't meant for questions.
If I see some good ones I will. But I prefer to give answers I know about. I have one phone, and some experience with the HP touchpad. And I've installed only one rom on each. Those are what I feel I could help with best. Ah well, maybe in their general forums I'll see something useful for me to do.
Same problem right here :

Why did the mods move all discussion to questions?

We used to have topics discussing next phones to buy, ubuntu porting to this phone, monthly cm7 stuff, etc.
Someone moved them all to the questions forum because... They had question marks in the title?
There used to be at least a couple posts per topic a day in them, now nobody says anything.

Unfortunately moderation on xda has always been uneven and of variable quality.

This is due to the disproportionate amount of users to moderators. As new moderators are added so are more forums. The moderator system has just been overhauled and things are going to normalize.
The policy is that ALL threads that ask a question go in the Q&A. even if is about a ROM, app, theme or accessory.
If you feel that your thread was improperly moved, then just report it for a review.
