I have in the last few months purchased a htc desire to replace my motorola dext (cliq).
With my previous phone I have plenty of modding experience (if anyone knows anything about the cliq they'll understand)
But due to the rules here I am unable to offer my advice and knowledge wih rom issues, of which there have been a few with desire roms.
If any mods read this, can you please remove the restrictions in place on my account, so I can participate actively in the htc desire development section, and be able to help out fellow modders.

Running in to the same issue with Xoom.
I've been working on this for over a year but I can't post cuzz of the newb rulls.
As far as I'm concerned we're all here to learn from others and let others learn from ourselves.
This is the only android forum I've come across with this ridiculous rule in place, restricting the sharing of knowledge because I'm deemed too " inexperienced".
Just because I'm new too XDA obviously means I'm new too android as well. Its a joke.

Guys, it is so easy just post 10 postings (you can do that in an hour) and all restrictions are removed. It is easy as saying in a posting "i agree" or " wow, interesting" do 10 pointless postings and you are good to go

if you are a developer, use you vast knowledge to help 10 people
if you have a question about something in development ask your question in Q&A
but search first. it is better to reply to a pre-existing thread than to start a new one!

That rather highlights the foolishness of having a 10-post restriction. Just about anyone will look at this and go, okay, let's just post 10 worthless messages and get around the restriction. In the end it does nothing to promote a better quality of user while at the same time clogging up the general forums with messages that are a complete waste of time and disk space. Like this one.

So after years of being an xda user and lover, I must say...the banning of all MIUI roms on this forum is completely ridiculous to me. Not to mention, done in bad taste. I am very curious as to why this happened. Can anyone please enlighten me as to why one of the best, most desired roms is not supported here? I can find nothing in rules about this at all. They aren't banning miui. The user at modaco who did the sensation rom is banned from xda. So his work is not allowed on xda.
It doesn't mean miui is banned...

we're not supposed to discuss bans/infraction publicly in the community. And to answer your question, i have no idea, and it should just be left between the dev and the mods (and those who know).
There is an MIUI ROM, it's on MoDaCo, we're not allowed to post his work here due to him being banned. Go look at MoDaCo for it. MIUI is not banned on xda.

After clearly stating my question, yes, accidentally in the wrong forum, I must say that you are not helping in xda if all you do is call people idiots, when the response doesn't fit the question. After doing searches as to why this rom would be banned in here, I politely asked a question. And usually by asking a question...you are looking for an answer...not some smart ass cocky response like you know it all. Next time you hear a question that you know the answer to, why not kindly answer...or shut your mouth and move on. You're a big guy by thinking you pwn'd someone online by throwing digital insults at them. Grow up, guys. Way to jump the gun...and as said, MIUI is not banned from xda.
For some reason my contacts ringtones have quit working and my phone ringtones plays for everyone. Does anyone have any idea what is going on with this and what the solution may be?

Well, nevermind. I installed Ringo from the Market and it worked that way. I had tried setting the contact ringtones thru both the system contacts as well as GoContacts and neither worked. But this did. Weird.
Anyone understand this?

Nun is right... but the only thing that irritates me is if you will look in general and [email protected], there are 7 Zeus threads created by people who don't feel like posting in the actual Zeus [email protected] thread. That's why I don't answer in these threads anymore, I have pointed and pointed people in the right direction to Zeus thread til I'm blue in the face. I think everyone should at least ask where it is, rather than start a multitude of threads... I can't be all over the place at one time, the reason I have a [email protected] thread, lol.... just stating the facts. But nun is right, the noob bashing needs to stop(me included) we are more adult than that..

No...not my boards. Just try to get the users of our roms on the same page as us. That is all. And if users of our roms...noob or otherwise...get treated poorly, just want them to know that its not our philosophy. We try not to put down users who need help, even when it comes to forum etiquette.

We all know about it. There are already 3 threads or something in General. There are also modded versions already in the dev section.

Um, Kind of why I never write things here. People are dicks on this board. Um, I was just trying to be helpful. But um, thanks for the unnecessary comment. Um, I'm sure there is a mod around who's job it is to decide if a post should be deleted or not. Um, I am also sure they are very capable of doing said job as well. So Um, your suggestion to delete this thread, needs to be, um, deleted. Development section is for active developers of a ROM. Since we don't have RC participating here (he's on RootWiki) it doesn't belong on developer section.
The two developers that DO participate on XDA and have developed ICS based ROMs (HellFire and EagleBlood) have their own threads.

Don't get discouraged bro. It's a reason why you can't post it here. 1. In dev section you change log, screen shot, disclaimers and on top of that you must be dev or have the dev permission. (to open a thread). In the general section is where you should have made this thread and it would be called a information thread. And it's 1 or 2 already made for arcee ics.

Ha, "pissed", "flaming". Don't be so full of yourself. I simply out Douched you. I only use my Douche abilities to teach lesser douches how and when to douche. Also, the fact that you can't tell how much of a douche you are really concerns me. Yes, its people like you that ruin the experience of others. See info[]box1 @ 10:17. So if you are keeping count, on this particular thread, I have helped out more people than you. So it would seem as if it IS people like you who ruin the experience.

What Arnau said plus many times people don't want to look stupid on forums with as much brainpower and expertise as on the XDA forum. Some of the most brilliant people hang out here and obviously if you don't know what you're talking about, to try and bluff your way through may work on some forums, but not here.
As you visit more often, look for some of the gurus, follow their threads, Thank Them and if they help you, contribute. That might really help you get the answers you need. Good luck.
XDA is not a support site, it is a site for and about developers and development, soooo, I suggest, if you are in fact looking for support, use search here, or go elsewhere.
Meanwhile, development still occurs here at XDA.
