Metadata corruption using Oneplus switch - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi,rooted my op7 Pro for the first time today. Created a backup using oneplus switch and have my photos backed up to google drive. Flashed magisk and then restored my opbackup. All my photos are there but around half of the 3000 have been jumbled up because the creation date has been set to today. Regardless of whether I sort by date or date modified they stay the same which is quite annoying. Does anyone know of a fix for something like this? Thanks
Edit; all the photos in my google photos album are in the correct order so have the correct metadata. Would it be possible to do some workaround with that?

This app changes date according to mask (file name) and exif data of image. I tried it long back and worked great.

Thanks, I'll check this out. There are probably 1000 photos affected though, will I just have to go through them one by one or is there a way to import them again using this app to keep the data?

[Q] [HELP] Losing metadata when transferring Photos and Videos

Hi all, this is my first post to XDA forums, I've been a lurker for a while now but I can't seem to find the help I need so I decided to post.
I recently got my Nexus 5 coming from a Nexus S, and I've been trying to migrate all my photos and videos (~700 files) taken on my N2 to my N5 but no matter what methods I've tried I cannot seem to preserve the date that the photos and videos were taken, leading to a jumbled gallery on my N5.
I've tried using copying through USB (both dragging and dropping from the N2 into the N5, and copying onto the computer (preserves date modified/taken) then onto the N5), WiFi transfer apps, Bluetooth and LocalSync. I'm not proficient enough to experiment with adb so I haven't tried that yet.
My N2 is rooted and running CyanogenMod 9.0.0 and my N5 is rooted but running stock KitKat 4.4.2 and I am running Windows 7 64-bit, if any of this helps.
Any help would be appreciated!

How about uploading everything to the cloud and then downloading to the N5? Although, if all your stuff is in the cloud, you don't really need it on the phone.

I just tried using box storage, and it still doesn't preserve the metadata and instead changed the date modified on my N5 to sometime in 1970... :\
I'd prefer it on the phone itself so I can access it offline as I usually have my mobile data turned off (small data allowance) and am not often in range of a wifi signal

Ah, in that case, my idea wouldn't work.
So, if I understand correctly, you're having no trouble transferring the files, it's just that the metadata isn't preserved?

yeah, so my gallery goes completely out of order, usually showing the videos as the 'most recent' :\

This is a long shot, but maybe you can import them into a PC program that preserves metadata, and then export them to the phone. Maybe Windows Live Photo Gallery, for example.

Windows Live Photo Gallery doesn't seem to have an export to device function, only sharing to facebook and other social networks :\
Any other free PC programs you might know about?

RAZR HD Unwantedly Recovered Deleted Photos after KitKat 4.4.2

Hi,
I just received the KitKat update for my phone in which i didnt like at first... And well now i HATE it as it just caused me a 48 hour argument with my girlfriend.
Anyway, the issue is exactly as i have described... After the update photos that i have previously deleted now magically reappeared in my Gallery... Including the ones of my ex which my girlfriend found which caused a HUGE argument with my current partner.. Why did this happen?
I dont backup my phone and i dont have it synced with my google account... Ive very concerned with my privacy and dont want my information stored with Google and all that Jazz. I dont have the photos stored to my SIM card nor do i have them located elsewhere other than the Gallery.
How can i be sure that what i delete actually gets deleted? This is extremely strange and a little violating to me.
Appreciate the help... Save me from future grief please!
Guystillintrouble.
Aliens...
If they did that, I guarantee you have them backed up somewhere.

Thanks guys.

Go to your Google account with a web browser or install Google+ from the Play Store (you're looking for an app called Photos with a pinwheel icon) and make sure your photos are permanently deleted
Thank you kindly CWG.
I removed Google photos long ago when I first saw it install with an update. I tried logging onto my Google account and the only photo I saw was the one I have set as my profile picture for google+.
Definitely at a loss here.

[Q] trying to recover wallpaper photo

Several photos were inadvertently deleted, one of which was my lock screen photo, which I really want to salvage. I can't seem to find it anywhere on the phone. I've also tried Android file transfer, no luck there either. If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears. Stock android 5.0.1 if that matters. Thanks.

Your lock screen photo? Stock android doesn't let you set a separate photo for your lock screen. It just uses whatever your home screen wallpaper is.

How was it deleted? Most of the time, if you delete something, it's gone.
If you mean you set a wallpaper then deleted the image and you think its recoverable because its still your wallpaper, well its not. It doesn't store the image anywhere.
If you're rooted, there are apps that may be able to recover the deleted photos
Yeah that's what I mean. I thought it would still be a data file somewhere.

Yep, its stored as data not as an image.
Ok, so it's stored as some kind of .dat file and therefore not recoverable in its original JPEG format. Is that correct?

If its something you got off the internet you could try taking a screenshot and using a reverse image search service like Google Images or Tineye.
Like Rootsu said, try this app in the play store "diskdigger".
I lost a load of photos after an update, this app found all of them.
It will also find a lot of junk so it will take you a while to sort through everything.
Needs root.

Photos doesnt show on N roms

Hey everyone! I have a problem with every N rom i've tried, that in some app like google photos, the default wallpaper picker, and the inbuilt file manager, lot of my camera pictures (from a specific date), and some of my wallpaper folders doesn't show up. But in other apps like totalcommander or Quickpic they are there. Do you guys have any ideas what's causing this? On MM roms everything works fine, and i haven't read anything like this from other users. I would appreciate any help or idea

If i snap a pic now its gona be there, but if i change to a different N rom or just do a clean flash, then the last photos the apps gonna show, those will be the ones i took in april. And with other wallpaper directories, the half of them are there but the other half is missing.

Are your photos dependent on Google Photos? Maybe they're in the cloud and can be accessed on another device.
Also, use a root file manager to search your device for all *.jpg.

Favorite Photos Disappear Randomly

The stock gallery app has a heart shaped icon you can select to create a folder of your favorite pictures. Recently and seemingly randomly, my entire favorites folder disappears and all selected photos become unselected. So far, it has happened twice this week.
Anyone else try this yet? Does it work for you?

Yes I have had this issue and its very annoying. I lost all my marked photos and have to search them all again in the gallery. Not sure if this is a bug in EMUI 4.1 because I haven't upgraded yet to EMUI5. If it's still there in EMUI5 then Huawei is yet to address it.

Google photos and Adobe Lightroom for editing. I'll try using various features one at a time to isolate the issue.

Well bro , i wonder how he is doing. Even i do need a update from him now:highfive:
This is so frustrating! I tried the following and nothing happened:
- Editing a favorite photo using the stock editor
- Editing a favorite photo issuing Lightroom
- Sharing a favorite photo via sms
- Sharing a favorite photo via Facebook
- Viewing a favorite photo via Google Photos
- Restarting the phone
Since none of that caused the favorites folder to disappear, I moved on with my life and over the next few hours, I did the following:
- Phone calls
- Browsed the web
- Sent text messages
- Played music over Bluetooth
Just as I had nearly forgotten about this issue, I decided to check one more time and now the favorites folder is gone again! I have no idea what caused it but it's now the third time in the past 2 weeks. I only recently started using that feature but it doesn't seem to last for more than a few days for me.
Anyone else have any feedback?

U figured out the culprit?
Approximately how much time passes from you marking a photo to when you notice the folder missing and pics unmarked?

2-3 days, I'm on day 2 now... Fingers crossed
After seeing this post earlier, I marked some pics as favorite. I see the Favorite folder, and I'll see if that happens with me.

Any report?
Mine has suddenly lasted a whole week without deleting itself. Not sure how or why though...
I marked 5 pics back when I first replied a few days ago and the Favorites folder is still in my gallery showing all of the marked pics.

Mine too .. the photos still exist there . I had a backup before doing this
Honor needs to fix this
Luckily I never used this feature.
