No video for mpeg2video streams - MX Player

Hi,
Since I upgraded to 1.21.6 (currently latest version in Google Play Store) MXplayer does not show any video for mpeg2video streams anymore. Only the audio stream is being played.
I did update the custom neon codec to the currently latest version 1.21.0 as well but with no luck.
Any hints on why this is so?
BTW: I'm running on a Galaxy Tab S 10.5 aka SM-T800 (ARMv7) with Android 6.0.1

I just updated to 1.22.5 - now the video playback seems to be working again [emoji4]

Best video player to use?

I normally use diceplayer for all my videos but it doesnt seem to play ball with this phone.
Which player are you guys using?
Not sure if MX Player works but that is what I often use. The device just plays all videos I have asked it to though you access them through the gallery app.
I'm also using MX Player and I could always watch the videos I wanted but I don't watch videos too often.
I'm testing VLC Player now, I always used it on my desktop and wanted to try it on my phone.
Didn't had a chance to use it much so I still don't have a full opinion about it.
MX Player... Also supports X86 specific hardware decoding! Hot...
Thanks will give mx player a try

Same here. I had been a fan of MoboPlayer a a long time ago, but more recently, I had switched to MX Player. Howewer, I just got my Razr i, upgraded it to JB, installed MX Player and the x86 plugin (as requested by the application), but when I tried to use it, it fails straightaway on opening with the following error message:
Unsupported device or component files are corrupted.

So I tried a few other players, most of them horrible and/or slow and/or bad picture quality, when I realised there is a special version of Moboplayer for x86. It works beautifully, fast, low cpu usage and great picture quality. You can get it there:

Does anyone run Razr i with unlocked bootloader? Is it true that the phone looses video playback when unlocking the bootloader?

Is there any video player that supports streaming over Samba?
On iPad I use xbmc but it is not compatible with x86 processor.

I have watched movies over WiFi with MX player. Windows 7 host. Haven't yet watched over off my main Arch Linux host but have not setup samba shares.
same here, watching 720p or even 1080p mkv video with mx player from samba share through wifi without any probems (GB ICS rom). decoding of 1080p is smooth only with hw+ setting, but 720p can be played with sw setting as well.

AC3 Codec Removed from MX Player! Need REAL Fix.

MX Player Pro*Version 1.7.39 (ARMv7 NEON)
Today I attempted to play one of my older AVI files and realized that the AC3 codec support disappeared with the 1.7.33.
How many other video's won't i be able to play... Others are "patching" MX Player to enable AC3 audio to play. What is the Long Term fix for this codec issue that could disappear?
Thank you.

As for now, only using a custom codec can help you.

Just so you are aware the Codec patching never worked on my phone. The only thing that worked was to install MX Pro 1.7.32 - and it worked fine. It would seem that since my Nexus 5/OPO never had me install any external codec's - I don't have any lying around. It seems as thought on my phone when I install an external codec - It's not being used.

Android N Support?

Hi All,
I'm curious if MX Player is compatible with Android N.
There are a few reports that the Pro version crashes as soon as it is run.
Can anyone confirm if this is true on the Pixel C running Android N?
Many thanks!

Yes. Unfortunately pro version has broken.
Google has implemented the new restrictions which prevents the developers from accessing non public APIs.
Pro version is crashing while checking the license.
Android N is on early preview for developers & not for the daily users. OTA is doesn't check the prerequisites. It has hard bricked many devices.

Also I'm not getting any audio running (non-pro) mx player under Android N on a Nexus 6.
For those of you running Android N on a Nexus 6, just an FYI that VLC works, though it can be choppy at times.

Probably your video might have ac3/dts audio track. Kindly download custom codec from my custom codec thread.

I have the AIO 1.8.x custom codec installed. Looks like network streaming a file with an AC3 audio doesn't show the audio stream, but locally playing a file locally with AC3 audio works. (Same file both times.) So I don't think it's a codec issue.
VLC is playing the audio stream from the network streamed file fine.

Can you try the following
Go to settings > Player & Disable "Remember Selections" & then try again.

I must admit, I really miss having HW+ decoder on Android N. Hopefully the dev can make an update soon.

Google has restricted usage the non public APIs. So, the existing H/W+ method may no longer possible. The developer is already working on alternative method. It may take some more time to land on beta channel.
Till that we have to wait......

Sounds good! Thanks for the prompt updates.
Android N feedback. When MX Player is in multiwindow it stops whenever anyone interacts with the other app. It starts playing again when touched again.
I assume that it an interaction with the Multiwindow lifecycle which causes other apps trouble as well.
See http://developer.android.com/preview/features/multi-window.html
Willing to test and send logs if of use.

It's because of the way multi-window implementation in Android N. When you interact with other apps it switches other app in pause state. The player needs to be changed to work on pause state.
BTW, enable "Background Play" from Settings > Player. So, MX Player will continue to play even when other apps are set to Top.
One more thing if other app also using some multimedia content like audio/video playback MX will loose audio focus. So, it may pause. If you want to play despite of audio focus, disable "Play Alone" from Settings > Player.

Audio play issue with build 3 of Android N.
Mx-player fails to play the audio files (songs) using sw codec. It only play them with HW codec.
It worked great playing the same songs in build 2 of Android N.
The files are a mix of mp3 and flac songs.
another questions, is how can I force Mx-player to use hw codec for songs, it kept reverting to sw codec and I had to manually change codec for each song.
