None of my app data was restored via Google Backup. Is there a way to force Xperia Transfer to work with this phone?
Or maybe root, use Titanium Backup and then unroot it?:good:

Quick question. There have been times where I've read that it's not good to restore stuff from Titanium Backup when flashing a new rom but is it on to just restore the apps without data? I think that's essentially the same as just downloading then from the market right?

At the batch menu you can restore missing apps with data. You just don't want to restore any system data.

I always restored my missing apps without data in the past (didn't restore any system) just to be on the safe side, but that's good to know that restoring data works fine for user apps.

Wanted to know what you did is it applicable if you are upgrading your rom from gingerbread to ics?
And i also did that but was always on gingerbread
I used titanium backup when for the first time to backup all my apps + app data and restore it after installing a new rom. It didn't work. It took forever to install the apps because I didn't pay for the premium version, and after it did install it didn't actually transfer the app data properly for most of my apps. My save games were lost and most apps didn't log me in from the save data.
So i downloaded Go Backup, which is much simpler to use and always works. Backsup all apps you want, and restores them in the same way titanium pro does, all at once without you having to accept each app. And the difference is my game saves and app accounts were auto logged in the first time I opened them. I would say Go Backup is a much better solution if all you need to do is backup apps + app data. Don't waste your time with titanium (and it's crappy UI).

Not entirely sure about that. I'd imagine so, but haven't had personal experience with such.
Good morning,
since i am not rooted right now, i am looking for an alternative to TitaniumBackup. An app to backup and restore my data and apps.
I tried the stock tool "Backup & Restore" which comes with the stock rom.
Everything is nice and as far as i can see, my app-data is also restored...
BUT: Is there any possibility to restore only ONE app and not every app in the backupset?
Mac

Thank you, but as i said: I am not rooted, so i think Nandroid do not work for me and App Backup & Restore only backups the apps, not the data (as far as i know).

right, i was too eager to answer. you are correct, none of them is helpful, unless you could root. i just used Nandroid and it really did an excellent job.

I know that there is some "ways" to backup apks data on unrooted devices, but none of them work on Xperias (I have Z1). I just got my Z3 a week ago, but The programs that backup apks data doesn't work on current Xperia Phones. Helium, and holo backup.
Is there another way to do this?. I can't believe that I cannot use my brand new Xperia Z3 because it's still non rootable.
Thanks.

Helium works perfectly on Z3 without root. I used it successfully to migrate my appdata!

This, transferred whatsapp for example to my Z3 (from the Z1). No extensive experiences here but seems to work pretty fine for most apps...
Well, I've just today moved all of my apps and data from my HTC Droid DNA to my brand new Z3 using helium, worked like a charm (use the helium server option, that's the easiest in my opinion).

I have all drivers installed, but the phone doesn't recognise helium on pc, but helium pc tells that there is a device connected. I cannot switch the phone to tpt mode, it marks the check, but after asecond it uncheck the option.

Are you using free version of helium.
Sorry for so many questions.

Hi there,
Yes, I made the backup on a rooted phone without a computer, and restored on the Z3 after connecting to my computer with the desktop software installed on it.
And yeah, I'm using the free version
Yeah, i forgot to install z3 drivers, so now i restored app data.
Thank guys.
great it worked on the end
if I had to setup all my apps again this would have been a huge pita, thus I was very happy that helium worked smoothly
Hope that root comes quickly, I miss Titanium backup
Hello,
my Pixel arrived and I wanted to copy all my Data from my Nexus 5 (rooted) to my Pixel. As I can't root at the moment the Pixel (at least I don't know how) I wanted to use Helium (Premium) to copy all Data from my old to my new Phone. Helium gets activated from my PC on both Phones with the PC Companion App. On my Nexus I have done the Backup to the Google Cloud, in my Pixel I can choose to restore. But then nothing happens. Helium on my Pixel acts like everything went fine, but I can't find the App in the Drawer. After restarting the Phone Helium says that the App I restored previously is not installed.
Did anyone try to restore via Helium?
Cheers
KobiP
Same problem.
Helium says that my apps data was restored, but in fact it was not.
Looks like Helium is not compatible with Pixel or Android 7.1...
This doesn't seem to be Helium related in particular but perhaps a bug with Android 7.1.
Helium uses adb backup to create and restore backups and when using adb backup manually it doesn't work either when restoring app settings & such to 7.1 from lower versions of Android.
If I back up an app on 7.1 using either Helium or adb backup though it works as expected, just not if the backup was created on MM (I haven't tested any other version of Android yet).

I really only wanted backup of one app (Subway Surfers). I saw the same issue. I had to install the game from the Play store and then using Helium to restore, it worked perfectly.

Hey,
tnx, works as described! Install from Play Store, then restore via Helium. Now I have my Savegames back
Cheers
I am experiencing the exact same issue with my Google Pixel. I have performed a full backup from my Nexus 5X so that I don't have to install the app manually. But when I attempt to restore the app it is not installed, despite all messaging suggesting that the restore worked just fine. If I install the app manually from the app store and then perform a restore from Helium the data is restored.
Unfrotunately I have apps that I'd like to restore that are NO LONGER IN THE APP STORE so this is rather bothersome.

Can you not pull the apk from your Nexus 5X and side-load it on your Pixel, then restore your back-up?
Isn't that the point of using Helium to backup the App AND the data? I too have an app that errors out when trying to restore. It worked with a few other I backed up. I tried full backup and then just data then uninstalled the app and reinstalled it and both restores errored out.
Any ideas? Thanks
Hi!
I always restored my mobiles with titanium backup .
The s8+ is the first one I did not rooted therefore I need an advice how to restore the phone after an hard reset (I am gonna do it cuz I just received oreo).

App: automatic restore from play store. Right?
Apk: I had to download 3 app and install them not from the market because are not avaiable on it. I am gonna lose the data. Is there some way to save and restore the data without root?
Mp3: I do not care to restore them
Pics: on google photo - no need to restore
Other hints?

Use smart switch app and backup your phone on the internal sdcard

You need to use some third party app to backup your app data like Helium. Even Smartswich (System based) and Samsung Cloud) will not backup and restore app data
