As the title states my phone is stuck with baseband version I997UCKD5. Everytime my phone trys to get a update it tells me that it cannot connect to ATT servers. My phone is rooted, is this why its not updating or do I have a defective phone. I have tried to find the answers for with no luck so if someone could please point me in the right direction that would be great.
this is typical att. it is not the phone. can you connect to odin? if you can then backup your apps with titanium backup then use odin to flash gtg's rooted ucke3 package, then backup the new rom with cwm (just good practice). if the apps are wiped then use titanium to reinstall them. it is not always a good idea to restore system data with titanium but i dont think there are significant system changes to prevent hat from working, id try it then if everything force closes id wipe user data in recovery and try it again without restoring system data.
I had the same problem even when i was UNrooted. I rooted my phone and updated to that Infused ROM. I then used the [ODIN][UCKE3] Return to stock download to return to stock and then I had the new update. Everything turned out fine, I had no problems afterwards. I then proceeded to UNroot the device and a day or 2 after that I recieved a new update but alas my phone STILL cannot connect to the servers.

yes, backup just in case. i dont know if gtg's package wipes but it probably does, actually id bet on it.
sometimes if the firmware is different restoring system data causes issues, what that means is you would lose your call logs and things. but if the app+system data restore causes issues you can just clear data in recovery mode and restore app+data rather than apps +all system data.
do you have contacts sync'd with google? att? if not export the contacts to a v-card on the sdcard. then import after the flash. but i recomend the gole contacts sync if you have want to set it up, sometimes simply setting it up on the phone doesnt work the first time. but once it is working it will restore contacts to any android phone you ever own and you can edit and merge contacts from the gmail website to keep it organized.

sorry i think i miss read something, i thought you meant "incase" hand you lose you apps to backup with titanium which would imply it would be before but now i see it says "if" which implies after the fact, sorry if my confussion caused you problems.
so you didn't do the backup before the flash? and all that apps are present but some force close? is this right? just for clerification
if the apps are still there you may just need to clear app data, this can be done in titanium or in setting> apps > manage apps> all go to each app individually and clear data. this will lose progress on games but not usually much else.
you may prefer to use titanium, to get titanium to work go to settings> apps > manage apps > 3rdparty/downloaded scroll down to titanium and clear data (this wont hurt the backups they are on the sd card)
if that doesnt work and you have access to the market then delete titanium and reinstall it.
im about to be away from my computer, if this doesnt get resolved contact me through pm and i will get back to it tonight. i will make every attempt to keep whatever apps you still have.

All my apps came back up, just have to reset my screens with my wigets and etc.. but have the new baseband UCKE3 now that is what i was after. Thanks again for the help!
so i have titanium backup..
anyway..just flashed my first rom....and when i booted the first time. i set up my google account. Before i could even get to titanium my phone was downloading all my apps and contacts from google.
Any opinions on googles ability to restore stuff? Im contemplating wiping again and disabling auto restore before i set up google. Is it worth it?

Google backup works just fine for downloaded apps and contacts, so why bother?
Well for me this didn't work. I did some wipes now but the Google backup functionality never worked for me. Therefore I always use TB.
well this is the first time ive flashed a custom rom. Was running stock for the first few weeks of root.
The first time i flashed and set up my phone google didnt do anything
Was having some probs so i decided to wipe and reflash...the second time google went crazy and started dowloading everything from the market.
I always use Ti Backup. In my experience, Google backup doesn't always backup and/or restore all my data and I end up uninstalling and re-installing through TB anyways.
If you choose to go the TB route, remember to force a re-do of all your backups (or at least of user apps) before wiping data and flashing a new rom. That way you'll ensure having the most current data from your apps when you re-install.
Also if you want to only restore from titanium, just skip the google sign in setup, and uncheck the restore from google setting. Go to the market and download titanium restore all the apps and data, wifi and bluetooth settings only. Restoring system data from an old rom or stock rom to a new one may bork your system.

Yes but make sure your phone wont autosync. When you skip the setup that should also skip the autosync as well. Just in case go to settings, accounts and sync and make sure autosync is unchecked. Sign into the market and get titanium backup. If you have a rom like coredroid, it may already be included. Check your particular rom for details.
Well I used titanium after I reflashed. I restored all user apps. System data is where I'm confused cuz there is so much data. I'm thinking contact sms Bluetooth settings wifi settings and sense desktop are what you would want to backup. Most of these were in green type.
However..... After restoring I still noticed multiple copies of friendstream and a lot of weather apps which all seem to be the same thing. I dlfeel like I got a bunch of dupes
Hi,
I made a backup by TWRP.
But the problem is that I don't know what to do with this backup.
1: For full backup, I leave to the nexus or I spend it on a PC? If my nexus has problem to boot, what I do with my backup ? How use it (txrp, fastboot....) ?
2: For a backup of data (so if I understand it, the app), I leave on nexus or I put on pc? and after I use it when and how?
For ex, when I switched to M, at the beginning (after boot), the nexus has installed all the app from my google account, but it's very long, so I would like tu stop it and use ma data backup, but i don't know how to do...
Thank you.

1. Both. Keep a backup on your PC and another one on your device. Hold Power + Vol Down to reboot into the bootloader then select Recovery. Once into TWRP use the Restore option to restore your nandroid.
2. Both. Same answer. If you are using Titanium Backup then use the restore option.
During the setup wizard do not check the "restore my data from Google servers" then check in Settings > Backup.
Thanks.
And if I want to use the backup of the PC, how do I do ?
Because the backup (nandroid) is very big, and it's a problem to keep it on the nexus.....

adb push and adb pull
You can also use the MTP feature though TWRP which allows you to drag and drop your files.

I need restore app for backup beacose this app have key to restore account
Migrate, uses root access to back up all your app with thier data .
Restoring it is a breeze. Just Flash your backup file in TWRP reboot then restore using the app.

Nope , you dont. Just restore the app in question with its data via the migrate app itself. You have the option to restore only what you want or everything. I used this for my banking app as well. Worked every time.

So I'm changing phones, but there's one app which I would have to backup including it's data. If I'd be rooted I could use Titanium Backup, unfortunately I'm not rooted.
Is there a way to root without wiping the phone or is there another way to backup the apps data (and restore) via adb or something else?
Google backup and restore is pretty good, it should restore your apps

But I need the actual data of the app, does that come with Google backup and restore?
App in question is WhatsApp and I need the app including the registration etc on the new phone. Titanium backup can do that, but obviously needs root
Whatsapp has its own backup and restore feature I use it all the time. It will restore all your data, chats etc but you have to log in first

I know... that's exactly the issue though. I'm asking for a way to backup 1:1 so I don't need to do the login. Which Titanium Backup can do since it's does it with all the apps data, but that obviously needs root which I don't have. Hence I'm asking for help here.
I found this which doesn't need root not sure how deep it goes though
How to fully backup and restore your Android device without root
One of Android’s little-known tricks is its built-in backup and restore process that allows users to save their private data...

For that I'd need a way to remove everything from the backup besides WhatsApp though. As that does a backup and restore of everything, all apps, all file system etc IIRC
Trying adb backup now, there seems to be a java tool that allows you to open the backup file on pc

I'm living in the UK for a few more months, but still use my German number on WhatsApp. The number has since been retired so I can't get SMS/calls on that one anymore, so I'm unable to sign in.
I wish I would've rooted the phone....

Is that the Samsung moving phones thingy? Does that move apps including it's data so you don't have to set them up again?
I usually avoid the moving data from phone to phone during setup, because I take setting up a new phone as an opportunity to clean up data/apps. So I only reinstall those I actually need
EDIT: Just tried it, sadly not:

Backup with ur whatsapp. Its too easy. Anyway, in case u cant do it, think u have to reset only single app (whatsapp - like ur screenshot), so u cant?

As mentioned in here, using the backup inside WhatsApp still needs you to sign in again on the new phone which isn't my goal. I want to backup ALL of WhatsApp including the sign in, so I can just move it to the new phone without logging in.

Then u have 2 options:
1 - Root your phone.
2 - Ask dev of Whatsapp to do something for u (for all too.lol). But i think it'll never come true. Its too risky for any apps.

Yeah thanks, I know it's possible with root which I don't have and doing it wipes the phone which makes my whole reason for this pointless.
This whole post was just asking if there's any way to do it without root. If you can't help don't reply?
