As the title states my phone is stuck with baseband version I997UCKD5. Everytime my phone trys to get a update it tells me that it cannot connect to ATT servers. My phone is rooted, is this why its not updating or do I have a defective phone. I have tried to find the answers for with no luck so if someone could please point me in the right direction that would be great.
this is typical att. it is not the phone. can you connect to odin? if you can then backup your apps with titanium backup then use odin to flash gtg's rooted ucke3 package, then backup the new rom with cwm (just good practice). if the apps are wiped then use titanium to reinstall them. it is not always a good idea to restore system data with titanium but i dont think there are significant system changes to prevent hat from working, id try it then if everything force closes id wipe user data in recovery and try it again without restoring system data.
I had the same problem even when i was UNrooted. I rooted my phone and updated to that Infused ROM. I then used the [ODIN][UCKE3] Return to stock download to return to stock and then I had the new update. Everything turned out fine, I had no problems afterwards. I then proceeded to UNroot the device and a day or 2 after that I recieved a new update but alas my phone STILL cannot connect to the servers.

Sorry for my stupidity but I'm still learning, are you saying to load odin UCKE3 to my phone and get the update that way and if i loose my app backup up with titanium?

yes, backup just in case. i dont know if gtg's package wipes but it probably does, actually id bet on it.
sometimes if the firmware is different restoring system data causes issues, what that means is you would lose your call logs and things. but if the app+system data restore causes issues you can just clear data in recovery mode and restore app+data rather than apps +all system data.
do you have contacts sync'd with google? att? if not export the contacts to a v-card on the sdcard. then import after the flash. but i recomend the gole contacts sync if you have want to set it up, sometimes simply setting it up on the phone doesnt work the first time. but once it is working it will restore contacts to any android phone you ever own and you can edit and merge contacts from the gmail website to keep it organized.

I just did this and it wont let me open up Titanium or most of the apps installed it forces me to close them any ideas?

this is after the flash? did you have to log into the maket and install titanium backup from the market or were all the old apps still there? did you make a backup before the flash? is super user installed? busybox?

yes after flash. I backup everything in titanium, i thought that is what you ment?? yes the apps were still there just cant open them. yes super user is still there and can open it.

sorry i think i miss read something, i thought you meant "incase" hand you lose you apps to backup with titanium which would imply it would be before but now i see it says "if" which implies after the fact, sorry if my confussion caused you problems.
so you didn't do the backup before the flash? and all that apps are present but some force close? is this right? just for clerification
if the apps are still there you may just need to clear app data, this can be done in titanium or in setting> apps > manage apps> all go to each app individually and clear data. this will lose progress on games but not usually much else.
you may prefer to use titanium, to get titanium to work go to settings> apps > manage apps > 3rdparty/downloaded scroll down to titanium and clear data (this wont hurt the backups they are on the sd card)
if that doesnt work and you have access to the market then delete titanium and reinstall it.
im about to be away from my computer, if this doesnt get resolved contact me through pm and i will get back to it tonight. i will make every attempt to keep whatever apps you still have.

i performed a system restore and in the process of doing an all batch data backup restore on titanium now will update in a few min, thanks again for helping me through this!

All my apps came back up, just have to reset my screens with my wigets and etc.. but have the new baseband UCKE3 now that is what i was after. Thanks again for the help!

So my company is switching to google apps, and apparently google apps requires a factory reset in order to get up and running with my corporate e-mail.
I thought titanium backup would do the trick but I can't seem to find the right options for a full backup. I also looked into astro with around the same results.
I do have a Clockwork ROM backup but if i understand correctly that is A FULL backup, whereas I only need apps.
Ideas?

Although I am not expert and have not done it myself you could possibly just copy the app folder off your internal SD and then replace it. Your setting would still be gone though.
I would imagine that certain data is stored all over the place. I am going to just do an odin's 1 touch restore and redo all my stuff...

I've just started trying out custom roms and I've noticed while some roms such as CyanogenMod lets you restore all previously installed apps upon installation other ones doesn't. If I flash a rom which doesn't support it all my apps still stand as installed if I search for them in market on the computer however it's a pain to manually reinstall all apps so is there anyway to trigger something which reinstall all apps like CM do?
well, i don't know what PHONE you are using, but on my inspire 4g with a gingerbread rom, altho the rom doesn't do much with app reloads, just by signing into my google account my apps reappear on their own.
Use Titanium Backup. Run a batch backup of user apps. Then when you install a new rom, run a batch restore. This will restore data as well - game progress, an app's settings, etc. The free version only allows one backup at a time (if you backup the app again, it overwrites the last backup) and you have to agree to the permissions of each app. In the paid version, you can set the max number of backups yourself and everything will install in the background. There's tons of other cool stuff the app can do, I suggest checking it out.

This is the way to go. Trust me on that. One more thing if you kind of like a certain rom but you just want to try others make sure you do a nandroid back up. This makes life a hell of a lot easier if you don't like rom boot back to recovery and restore your last back up. I nan once a week so I keep a fresh image cuz I am always adding and removing apps.

As far as my experience when (this afternoon), TI is the ONLY way to go (although, you'll want to root first).
A follow up question on this topic. I have TI Pro and made a backup of apps and data. After flashing an update ROM on my EVO, I could get most of the apps, but not all of them back. Actually, some apps would not even reinstall -- e.g. Twitter gave me some error about a shared library missing. Any ideas?
I bought the paid version of Titanium backup but during batch restore, I still have to press install/cancel and open/done for each app. Is that correct or did I miss changing a setting?

Not sure, I have never had to do this, and I have not changed any settings that I know of.
I am about to flash my first ROM on my Inspire. I did a NAND backup and copied all the contents of my sd card to my computer.
My question is if I transfer it back onto my sd card after flashing will it restore my apps and other data?

No. Apps need to be installed, not just copied (that's assuming that you're talking about apps on the SD card, and not on the phone's memory).
Do as most of the posts above suggest and do a backup using Titanium Backup. Then you can batch restore (with the paid version) or app-by-app restore (with the free version) after flashing your new ROM.
Titanium is excellent , however I find backups arent always compatible between roms. I sometimes get errors after a restore. For that reason I just sing into Market after flashing a new rom and let the apps re download.

I purchased the pro version, batch backed up all of my apps. Installed MikG on Evo 4g and now I can't access TI back up. I also did a nand back up. when I restore data nothing happens. Please help. I just want my apps back.

1. Push your apps recorded in your android market library to your phone.
2. Use titanium backup.
Titanium backup is easier, but since you do a reset to make everything fresh, I would prefer the first option.
What you do is to go to android market library from your PC browser. It has all your apps listed. For each app, use the install button to push it to your phone. You need not wait between apps. Just push which ever app you need and they will automatically get downloaded and installed to your phone. For some reason, Google has kept the reinstall feature hidden. See this for details -

I don't know, google play used to reinstall my apps when I was on stock sony rom, but since I use Cyanogen now, it doesn't do it. I always keep checked option "keep backed up with bla bla", but it doesn't restore automatically :/

anyway..just flashed my first rom....and when i booted the first time. i set up my google account. Before i could even get to titanium my phone was downloading all my apps and contacts from google.
Any opinions on googles ability to restore stuff? Im contemplating wiping again and disabling auto restore before i set up google. Is it worth it?

Google backup works just fine for downloaded apps and contacts, so why bother?
Well for me this didn't work. I did some wipes now but the Google backup functionality never worked for me. Therefore I always use TB.
well this is the first time ive flashed a custom rom. Was running stock for the first few weeks of root.
The first time i flashed and set up my phone google didnt do anything
Was having some probs so i decided to wipe and reflash...the second time google went crazy and started dowloading everything from the market.
I always use Ti Backup. In my experience, Google backup doesn't always backup and/or restore all my data and I end up uninstalling and re-installing through TB anyways.
If you choose to go the TB route, remember to force a re-do of all your backups (or at least of user apps) before wiping data and flashing a new rom. That way you'll ensure having the most current data from your apps when you re-install.
Also if you want to only restore from titanium, just skip the google sign in setup, and uncheck the restore from google setting. Go to the market and download titanium restore all the apps and data, wifi and bluetooth settings only. Restoring system data from an old rom or stock rom to a new one may bork your system.

Yes but make sure your phone wont autosync. When you skip the setup that should also skip the autosync as well. Just in case go to settings, accounts and sync and make sure autosync is unchecked. Sign into the market and get titanium backup. If you have a rom like coredroid, it may already be included. Check your particular rom for details.
Well I used titanium after I reflashed. I restored all user apps. System data is where I'm confused cuz there is so much data. I'm thinking contact sms Bluetooth settings wifi settings and sense desktop are what you would want to backup. Most of these were in green type.
However..... After restoring I still noticed multiple copies of friendstream and a lot of weather apps which all seem to be the same thing. I dlfeel like I got a bunch of dupes

So when I started up the phone titanium backup is gone, I read that I must redownload from the play store, but when I run it, it says I failed to acquire root privileges. It tells me to get busy box, so I download that too, but that won't install properly.
What should I do now? Have I lost root? The bootloader is available...that means it's still rooted right? The internal sd card still shows my folder of titanium backup and all the other root folders I used to have on my phone, I just can't get titanium backup to run so i can't restore.

If you flash a new rom root is lost.
You have to root again.

A few of the JB ROMS were causing issues with root. The fix was to re-flash the SU (superuser) apk and that would fix things right up. You should be able to find it doing a search.

What rom did you flash?
What, if anything, did you wioe in recovery?
Did you get a superuser or supersu prompt when titanium started?

Not necessarily so. Most custom roms are pre-rooted by the dev. Ive flashed countless roms and until recently w/ jb not had any issues w/ root access.

it pretty much looks like this in TitBack, give or take a few letters: "[SMS/MMS/APN] Phone/Messaging...". when you tap on it, the pop-up recognizes it as "Phone/Messaging Storage". this is where your text messages are.
some 3rd-party MMS apps like GoSMS Pro can back up your messages too, and I believe there's also an app or two solely for backing up your messages to your sdcard/internal storage.
Titanium Batch restore fail

Having a few problems, I'm new to flashing roms and the use of Titanium Backup and I've just flashed my second ROM. I've gone from CM9 to CM10. Before doing so I created a backup of apps + data.
I flashed the ROM fine, and ran the batch restore function in Titanium. I have all the icons on my homescreen from the previously installed apps but after clicking on them my phone tells me that app isn't installed. I then notice that my notification from Titanium's batch restore shows the apps I had downloaded from the play store failed to restore (the notification said that the elements failed after batch restore was complete).
I noticed that these apps have a line through them when the list of apps I want to restore appears.
Titanium then advised me that the apps did not restore as the Android ID had changed, So I then reverted to the previous android ID thinking this to be the solution. However, after running the restore function again, the same amount of elements failed to restore.
Due to my lack of knowledge in Titanium and my need for these apps, I turned to the play store and decided to manually redownload all the apps again. This does not work either! The error message I get is the apps cannot be downloaded due to an error (491). I guess this is to do with the android ID changing?
Please help, how can I get these apps to restore? and also how can I be able to download apps from the play store again? :crying:
EDIT: So I was able to reinstall the apps from the play store by wiping the dalvik + cache.
This still leaves me baffled as to why Titanium wasn't able to do this

I always use tb w/ the pro key to restore user apps + data, and have been getting the changed android id lately, but whether I keep the new id or revert to the old one, my restore works. Depending on what ROM I'm going to or from, sometimes I have to change my home screen shortcuts for system apps.

I didn't select restore system apps, instead I selected restore all apps with data, failing that I tried restore missing apps + all system data.
What option should I normally be selecting to do a straight restore after flashing a ROM? Does the fact that there is a line through the apps that I'm trying to restore mean anything?
I always select "restore missing apps + data" it's the 1st option under restore in the batch menu. The apps with a line through them are the ones that tb recognizes as being backed up but not installed.

i use 'backup to gmail' for my sms and mms, it puts all your messages in your gmail in folders and will restore call log and sms, dont support restore of mms yet... i paid fo it and there is a free version too, i think it limits the number of back-up messages tho...

"Super backup contacts" app from market backs up SMS call logs and contacts..its free also

Only thing was getting frigging Kies to work... what a disaster. I had to reinstall several times before it would not freeze.

back em up with titanium, a root solution is available. just make sure to copy the entire titaniumbackup folder to windows/linux/osx, flash the os, install titanium again, and copy everything from the old titanium folder to the new to restore

seriously. At work, trying to get it going on 3 pc's and it took me 2-3 hours to finally get the upgrade. Hope its worth it.
