Corvus vs. Derpfest (Only opinion) (PocoF1 only) - Xiaomi Poco F1 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi Good day everyone, I just want to make a small pole for us to have a discussion about this two awesome Master of customization ROMs. Which do you think is more stable or Less buggy and can be a daily driver for a long time
CHEERS MATES!!!
P.S. : No hates let's just share experience. Let's help each other decide for everyone to have an idea
Props to this two amazing ROMs:good::fingers-crossed:

Wrong section, and comparing roms is not good, every rom is good at something. But to answer to ur question derpfest is rich of customization

Not that i am comparing, I just want to know what people's opinion with this two amazing roms. I just found out that HAVOC and EVO X are ones that already been a talk. I just want to see what opinion other users have
Thank you for you comment:victory:

Haven't tried Corvus yet but Derpfest is good. Im using Havoc at the moment. But all ROMS released for Poco are great. Developers have done an amazing job in maintaining and updating ROMs.

Lineage:silly:

I take covus for this one. I just installed it 2 days ago and my review was. Great customization, Gaming mode, Smart charging(you can stop charging when reaches 80%) and good battery.

I can not talk about Derpfest, I have not used it, but Corvus was super smooth and a lot of customization... Than he crashed suddenly after 2 days of tinkering.. launcher stop working and google "some servise" stop working..
Went back to Miui. more precisely Eu Miui but I become spoiled by custom roms and customizations, so I decided to try some other rom. Ended up to Havoc
And I forget to say, all that trip started from Crdroid, which was super smooth but started to have bugs with updates.
That is my 2 cents, i hope it helps someone..

Great review! Thanks!

This is me with ROMs/computers/smart devices....Tweak them until they break... Start over.

Both rom are stable and both have lots of customisation, but corvus has upper hand because it has some extra customisation options, i used derp for 2 weeks and notice little bit ui lag. The last version i used was 20200316 after that i switched to corvus and still using it and very happy with this rom.

Using derpfest with lawrun kernel 67hz version.. super smooth with great customisation and descent battery life.
Gaming is super smooth too.

for me corvus is the king(for now) earlier my anytime favorite rom was derpfest still it is. I wont say derpfest is bad still its my favorite only thing it lags is gaming experience, games sometime lags whereas corvus is super super smooth! in terms of ui too!!

Hey buddy, is smart charging fixed on the latest build of corvus?
Been using the initial build of corvus for more than a week, its based on DU and the amount of customisation is pretty good. Battery life is good enough, all san1ty gcam versions are working, smooth since day 1. Im satisfied with this rom
I did try derfest pie a couple of months ago and i believe its one of the best rom for poco as well

Corvus is smooth for me.
I use 0.3x animation scale with slider. Derpfest lacks animation slider.
I treid many roms - Crdroid, Havoc, EvoX, Derpfest, Stagos (doesn't support exFat sdcard), AEX, AIM, Superior OS, MSM (unofficial), Pixel Experience.
In customisations MSM is best followed by Corvus, Stagos, EvoX, Derpfest.
In smoothness I feel Corvus is best followed by MSM, EvoX, Havoc, Derpfest.
For now, I got only issue of bluetooth in Corvus and I am fine with it for now, lets see if update fixes it.

Best and most stable ROM with features working beyond 7.1.2?

Im on a 7.1.2 ROM and its getting real buggy so its time I wipe and switch to a new ROM, preferably newer than 7.1.2
Look, I understand the outdated "test and see which is best" but my phone is for my job and I work all day so I can't be with a buggy phone and be testing, wiping, etc. every day/hours; I need a working phone and stable features. Switching phones and/or a iPhone are currently options Im not looking at.
* Bluetooth hands free MUST work.
* GPS must work
* Camera and its flashlight must work
* Data (4G/WiFi) must work
* I need battery life to maintain a stable level; I can't be carrying powerbanks or stuff like that.
* Responsive; The phone is showing its age but it must be able to keep doing simple tasks as fluid as it can
What do you recommend?
Thanks

7.1.2? Man, you've been missing out! Oreo's been great since it became stable on bacon. And now there's Pie and it's even greater! There are quite a few ROMs based on it available right now, and pretty much all of them are more or less stable, but personally I'd recommend you go with POSP 2.0 - a stable build of it has just been released a few days ago, too, so make sure to check out the changelog as well. It's buttery smooth, rock-stable, everything you mentioned should work flawlessly and it even has features like OnePlus' faceunlock, which is awesome. Of course, there might be some really minor issues here and there, but it's nothing nowhere near as serious as WiFi not working or broken GPS, so don't worry.
In the end, OnePlus One might be an old phone, but its devs aren't any less talented than they were and the development is far from dead

I'm currently on 7.1.2. Just wanna ask a few questions to know if it's stable enough for me to get into.
1) I play lotta PUBG. How is gaming performance on this device?
2) How is the audio performance? I use ViperFX.
3) What's the camera quality like?

1. Don't play PUBG, so I can't really tell, but it should be similar to how it performs on your current ROM I believe.
2. I don't use AudioFX, but both wired and BT audio seems to work just as well as on Oreo (...which for me was a better experience than the one on Nougat).
3. Decent, again, nothing out of the ordinary, just your usual 4 y/o phone custom ROM experience. It's not buggy though, if that's what you're asking

I just read thru all 79 pages of that ROM; That ROM is alpha at best.
Hotspot not working
GPS is glitchy
Lag
etc.
I need something stable.

Eh. If you didn't know, this ROM's been the first Pie ROM for bacon. What you've read through is a discussion about it since its very beginning, while the stable version has been released much later. I'm happy with what I'm using - no lags for me, and the GPS works fine. Your call though.
Also, there's no reason to be rude to people in the POSP thread just because some things don't work in your case. Wi-Fi hotspot is pretty much the only noticeable bug at this moment (it does work, just under specific conditions), while for me and the vast majority of people everything else works well. Not to mention that calling others kids is certainly not a mature behavior. Developers are building ROMs when they're free, for free, and sharing them with others, even though it's hard work. Their hard work. It's not a service you pay for that magically allows you to demand whatever you want - if you don't like it, don't use it and go make your own ROM instead of bashing everyone around since you seem to know better.
Honestly it's a bit of a stretch to be asking for a fully featured and stable version of Pie on this phone this early anyway. I'd suggest you just stick to Oreo for the time being anyway. Google changed a bunch of **** for Pie for no good reason and made the whole experience slower, less intuitive and more Apple-like. You missed out on Oreo, so just install a nightly official build of LineageOS 15 or something and enjoy the customised and optimised experience of a mature operating system.

I neved asked for Pie. At best, you can understand I asked for Oreo (which would have been nice but).
Official LineageOS 15.1
I've been using forked LineageOS 15.1 from microg, with microg built-in, and it's running smooth, no complaints at all. The official version should be better than the Forked version isn't it?

Still waiting for a true ROM that is made for daily, with no worries about bugs or anything.
Guys here don't seem to understand the meaning of the term "stable" - just because something is free, that doesn't mean i can call my beta stable.
I am currently on Official LOS 15.1 - and it is a pain in the ass to use my phone at the moment. It lags on every user interaction, and if i use it too fast , it restarts. Also BT is buggy, sometimes it just disconnects and doesn't work anymore, even if i restart my phone, i must remove the device from the list and reconnect - which is, in case of connecting to alexa, a doubled pain in the ass because the alexa app laggs ultra hard.
@riahc3 On which Rom are you currently? Did you find a stable before 7.1? From what i recall, i didn't find a stable 6 with working quick charge - which is a requirement, i do not have the time to load my phone about 5 hours in the middle of the day, what i found i must do with each rom i tested.

Probably tried 15+ different ROMs over the years of owning my OPO.
Only ROMs I've ever used that worked without issue are Sultanxda's, but because he's just one guy he can't devote a lot of time to it, so it's still being maintained on 7.1.2. I've been using Sultan's ROMs for probably 2+ years now and forgot what a dumpster fire the rest of the ROM community is, and made the mistake of trying the official Lineage 16.0 build. The fact that the ONLY downloads available were a weeks worth of nightly builds should've set off alarm bells in my head, but I ignored it and went ahead because I wanted to try 9.0. Huge mistake. Wifi takes TEN minutes to connect or reconnect to a network, and mobile data only works for the first 5 minutes after booting before dying, forcing you to hard reset every 5 minutes to use mobile data.
At this point, I'm going back to Sultan's ROMs and never looking back. Whenever he decides to drop his OPO project, that'll be the same day I drop my OPO. Actually have a work phone as well that's an iPhone 8 and I wish those things supported third party ROMs, because that turd just gets slower and buggier each passing month, dropped calls, no data, broken wifi, broken video chat, it's like paying a premium to get a hobby phone. I hope to god Microsoft wakes up and comes back to the mobile space, it seems they're the only company on the planet that knows how to put out an OS that actually works, and can properly maintain it with regular updates. In the end I'll probably end up getting a Pixel 2 or something if I want a usable phone.

Please do not take it too much to myself, which I will write now.
From your post I conclude that you have excessive requirements for ROMs, which are actually made by amateurs-hobbyists.
Despite the seemingly correct theses, in my opinion your entry is of no value because you were not active in this forum in reporting bugs and patches to the ROM.

BEST ROM?!

What is the best ROM that is free of bugs and can be used as daily driver ? (I haven't tried any ROM )
Bug free is a strong term.
We have a couple of good ROMs to be used as daily driver.
Lineage, Pixel Experience, ArrowOS, AOSIP.
And you can use treble ROMs like Havoc 2.0.
"Best rom" depends exclusively of your experience, so take a time to try each of them and then tell us how was it.
Btw I'm actually using ArrowOS. It's amazing.

How does the speed and fluidity of custom roms compare to miui 10. I've been using miui and found it to be very smooth. I am worried custom roms would feel slower.

In my experience ROMs are just as smooth and snappy as MIUI10.
The biggest issue with them are bugs. Pretty much every Treble ROM I've used has had issues with the fingerprint sensor acting as a cursor and selecting theme when my finger presses it. I've tried AOISP and Liquid Remix, and on both I had an issue where the phone would lock itself every 5 or 10 minutes. Which made it made it super frustrating to watch videos.
I'm currently using ArrowOS and haven't noticed any issues yet, but I'm sure I'll find something. I'll probably end up going back to MIUI at some point. Things like slow motion video and scrolling screenshots aren't necessities, but they're nice to have.
Wow I actually didn't know miui supported long screenshots. Thanks for that! I heard treble roms tend to be buggy but last week an official pixel experience rom was released so I was considering running that. It's still on its first build but the second build should be released this month and should contain bug fixes that people reported. It's great to know that performance is still smooth.

I miss a lot scrolling screenshots. Slowmotion you can get using Manual Camera DSLR app. There is an option to choose recording speed (half-dotted circle with "play" icon inside it).
My two cents: keep original rom and flash custom kernel. You will increase smoothness and battery life.

Question Which is the best performance roms for OP 9?

I wonder what is the best room for performance in OP9 even optimization?
There is not a huge difference it's all personal preference.
Stock rom
Debloated OOS and some magisk mod tweaks.
I've tested custom rom my choice is Syberia
Stock or AOSPA imo
OOS
*Syberia is the most customisable and so far seems very snappy.
*Elytra OS The most aesthetic UI and fast kernel
These two ROMs are my choice for #bestROM.
*Pixel extended is the perfect Google experience
*CRDroid is also another one worth mentioning and the Dev is very friendly.
*Stag OS was the first 13 rom and is very stable also
*lineage OS is the most basic Custom rom and easy to flash.

Exactly this. They're all pretty great.
For A12, any ROM with OOSCAM and a current security update is amazing.
For A13, ElytraOS is very impressive, and the maintainer is very active in what feedback is given. StagOS As well, but that maintainer is/was supporting A12 and 13 while ElytraOS came in on A13, so has just had more time to focus just on it. Both are great.
And now with Syberia (one of my favorite OP6 roms) on the scene, It seems you literally can't pick incorrectly, all are winners.
All my issues have always come from incorrect OOS update prior to flashing a ROM (see: PEBKAC), Android and/or its various changes itself effecting the Apps I use itself or an underlining bug that's from lineage (that all start with as a base, at least on every OP devices I've run with an android OS) that's out of the maintainers control.
For now, I'm back on Pixel Experience A12, but will return to A13 ROMs once it matures a little further and apps stabilize on it (preferably one with Google AI call screening enabled by default.)
I'd also take note of the few ROMs that offer vanilla builds that allow you to manage your own exposure to GApps, or none at all (ex: CRDroid)

OOS13 is so damn beautiful but hate the idea of trying to root, remove bloat/spyware, optimize it all while in Beta.
I need to try it at least once for a week or so.
nothing beats the stability of OOS.
i use some filming ang photography apps. i have tested these apps with most of the popular custom roms. the apps develop issues that do not happen in OOS.

Question Which rom should i use for a daily driver

Hi all!
I been thinking about getting a custom rom on this phone ever since I got it (it's my second xiaomi, after my first one I thought it's probably the best to skip MIUI entirely). But since then I couldn't figure out what to get. Some say EvoX is the best, CrDroid has some cool features but can't find much about it being a daily driver, I heard lots of bad things about the PixelExperience and I'm holding out on LineageOS until an offical port comes out
Main things I'm looking for:
Camera to stay as good as with stock
Fast charging with all of it's 67W glory
5G
Privacy features
Thanks in advance
Logan
best in what?
how bout Evo x as your daily driver...?
I use elixir and its working great for heavy daily usage
Honestly? MIUI EU rom works flawlessly for me, fast enough, stable and has a few extra mods. Custom ROMs aren't what they use to be... Bugger all features and lots of bugs due to half-ass development and the fact this isn't a hugely popular device.

General Best Custom Rom for Pixel 6a

Hello there people of XDA, below, I've compiled a list of the best custom roms with GAPPS from my experience of flashing roms the past few months. If there are any roms I've missed, let me know. I probably won't try them all though. As for what rom I'm currently using, it would be stock android. The custom roms for this phone still seem like they're all in Alpha stage. Yes, the customization is great, but I can get similar options using root. It's hard for me to flash roms over and over for a update. I would come back only when the roms have all matured, and when an update can be done over OTA. (EvolutionX has OTA, the other roms, I'm not so sure.)
RisingOS: It's basically the only rom so far that I've found that actually works with Google Pay, but currently it seems like it's still in alpha or beta stage due to the amount of bugs so far. But it runs fine, and the battery drain isn't too much. I will revisit this rom in the future, when the bugs get ironed out.
EvolutionX: I mean, it's stable... but battery life takes a huge hit. I don't know if the kernel is overclocked or what is going on, but the phone gets warm (99-105F) with light usage (30mins on youtube). Would only recommend if you're a gamer and want the best FPS out of games, since you seem to get better sustained performance with this rom.
Project Elixir: It's basically EvolutionX, but with less customization features, and the battery drain isn't high. I would daily drive this rom, if Google Pay worked. But like EvolutionX, I can set it, but it'll have me re-add my card over and over. (Revisiting this Rom reveals that apps like Facebook and Instagram has issues 6/24/23)
DerpFest Tango: This rom is basically stock android with some tweaks. I joined the Telegram and it seemed dead, but it's a decent rom. It seems like battery life is similar to stock, and the phone runs fine. Google Pay seems broken for me though.
StagOS: Has a lot of customization options, and not a large userbase. Similar to DerpFest Tango, the Telegram seems dead, and Google Pay is broken for me.
Not on your list, I've been pretty happy with LineageOS since it went Official. OTA works, but can be slow to install.
Far from perfect, but suits my (minimalist) needs with NeoLauncher.
Which ROM has the unlimited google photos?
Used all the above roms and they are all pretty solid. My daily driver and go-to if I don't like how a certain rom works I the Velocity Rom-Maxium Velocity kernel. He was on xda up till about 6 months ago but now he's on telegram.
Good features but no fluff - speedy as hell - battery standby is great and no heat to speak of. Comes preloaded with root so you just download magisk and that's it. Really good rom.
You should try out LineageOS and crDroid. Those 2 roms are the best ones I've tried so far. As for Gpay/Google Wallet, I got it working with most of the custom roms I've tried. You just have to use "safetynet v2.3.1-MOD_3.0."
LineageOS doesn't come with GAPPS but it includes instructions on how to flash it.
The unofficial build of risingOS 1.0 ran great for me, but when trying to switch to the official version, it wouldn't flash the product partition.
Generally, I carry 2 phones. One with GAPPS as some stuff requires it, and one without (the phone I use the most). Pixel has gapps, oneplus 8t has microG. Overall, any rom I'd recommend on the 6a, its either rising or lineageOS. If you want customization, go crDroid

Most roms have it baked in. Project Elixir (enabled by default), Evolution X, and RisingOS. As for the other two, I used them for a week and I didn't see a toggle.

Its also not very hard to add it to a rom. There's a Magisk Plugin for it
