PX5 - Downgrading Android 8 to 6 - update.zip needed - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

Hi all. I have a KGL unit with Oero 8 currently installed. My bluetooth module doesn't work so I'd like to downgrade. I've created and booted into an Android 6 recovery SDCARD and am ready to install an Android 6 ROM.
I'm probably being an idiot here but I can't seem to find a suitable update.zip to use - all ROMs I can find are update.img. Anyone point me to a suitable update.zip file?
Thanks in advance
**Edit - Nevermind - it wasn't booting from the SDCARD. Fixed now **

It looks like we should be able to get some code and kernel for android 6.0..now we just need to find someone to build a roms for us
food for thought can we do something like this for our intel units ...this could open some doors for us

wasn't necessary thinking Linux ubuntu only...but if you made bootloader look for a system on a sd card android,linux,windows,exc...you could have a dual boot system....this would be awesome it would make it easier to mod system files and experiment with different os and have the ability to pop out the sd card and be back to stock config if you didn't want to boot off sd card make an sd card to redirect boot loader back to internal system...or if bootloader can't find a os on sd make it default back to internal system. ..I think something like this would be one of the best things that could help speed up development and allow roms that were built for different partition sizes and systems become more Universal .

Yes I have seen that that's why I wanted someone to use titanium backup on there unit and do a full backup or nandroid. Also .titanium I believe will generate a update.zip file that could be flashed...once this is done you could just do a standard restore with a titanium or nandroid backup. ....I have reached out to a few people about a multirom boot setup hopefully we can get that to work and boot and flash to sd cards....
Also remember some units are 16gb and others are 32gb so the partition tables will be different. .but that's nothing that can't mod to be fixed...another reason multirom flash to sd card would make life easier
this can be the answer if can this be done with our head unit.... http://www.xda-developers.com/install-use-multirom-xdatv/

:fingers-crossed: can install or update MultiROM, it's recovery and kernels. It can also install Ubuntu Touch system-image based builds into MultiROM as a secondary ROM.
MultiROM is one-of-a-kind multi-boot mod for Android devices. It can boot any Android ROM as well as other systems like Ubuntu Touch. Besides booting from device's internal memory, MultiROM can boot from USB drive connected to the device via OTG cable. The main part of MultiROM is a boot manager, which appears every time your device starts and lets you choose ROM to boot. You can see how it looks on the left image below and in gallery. ROMs are installed and managed via modified TWRP recovery. You can use standard ZIP files to install secondary Android ROMs, daily prebuilt image files to install Ubuntu Touch and MultiROM even has its own installer system, which can be used to ship other Linux-based systems.
.Here's the deal... if we could dual boot another android os for head unit let just say rom from joying or other brand/manufacturer you could test rom see what works and what doesnt , modify rom ,extract apps from rom and if rom was better you could make rom you primary boot ..(i also believe we could add or mod the mcu part back in the rom).:fingers-crossed:... and you would be able to test this all with out erasing you stock configuration or stock rom ....you would be able to test and develop new updates as they come out.. you could test with out erasing or wiping your system.. you could run Ubuntu ,Ubuntu touch or other more pc based os and still have the ability to reboot and be back in radio os android mode....and I think there is a fun factor here with experimenting and adding more function to the head unit

there are now at lease two types of intel units out there ones based off mtcd and non mtc ones on a totally new board...the firmware should be similar as for there both built for intel x86....developments that help one should be able to be applied to the other...the biggest thing that i think that would help both platforms would be the ability to dual boot these models so you could run experimental os fw os a sd card and still have the ability to go back to stock configuration simply by removing the sd card with the os on it or just telling the bootloader to boot the stock system img....thist is where i think we need to focus and develop.....

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2DmzEjJljx3OXlQM2RFbWp4UWc
Method 1 (didn't work for me, as I could not figure out how to enter revovery):
1) Copy to USB thumb Drive
2) install from recovery
Method 2 (didn't work for me either):
1) Copy to USB thumb Drive
2) Go to Settings -> about device -> system updates
3) System should ask if you want to install update
Method 3 (worked for me):
1) you need to know how to connect and use adb. I connected using head IP address from laptop connected to the same wifi router. I did not use any additional apps or software (other than adb from android sdk). Hint: https://developer.android.com/studio/command-line/adb.html
2) extract su.img, SuperSu.apk and boot.img form the update.zip, place it on USB drive
3) use following commands:
cd /mnt/usb_storage3 (change path according to your USB drive)
cp su.img /data/su.img
cp SuperSu.apk /data/SuperSu.apk
dd if=boot.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p9
4) reboot
THIS IS A GREAT START THANK YOU
a system ROM zip for seller would be useful ...
.also please use apk extractor (updated instructions and link in first post)and back up all apps and system apps and upload that would be helpful.....

I just got what you've been waiting for, the Joying upgrade file dated 10-31. I have the JY-UL135N2, just like StingerRUS above. I e-mailed Joying about the update shown in Boy ka's youtube, and they sent it to me here: https://mega.nz/#!iUECzLDB!oxXcP9Xa_jOeH3NTWoqwlPNzfYbeOHcJ_hP1NhvHCQs
I kept trying to ask them to show me how to root, as stated on their website root is supported, but they kept saying it's not recommended and would "make chaos for the unit". I tried Kingoroot, but that failed. Hope this file helps.

The rear of your unit looks pretty interesting with those 2 antennas plus the wifi antenna to the right..(that's disconnected) Unless that's GPS ?
Do you have a link for it ?

Why do you want me multi OS on these units?
You will lose all the interaction with MCU, as it is programmed to interact to Android part.

Realme X50 Pro 5g GSI (RMX2071)

Hi everyone, I am a RMX2071 owner and I was experimenting with GSI images, I have installed the AOSP 10 GSI (AOSP 10.0 v222) Source: https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/releases/tag/v222
Seems like it works except for the fingerprint (it doesn't work) and the camera that could be better. I'm not a developer nor I'm familiar with Android modding. I have bricked my phone several times during the attempt. This is not an advice or guide, everything you do is at your own risk.
I had unlocked bootloader and TWRP (Source: https://forum.xda-developers.com/realme-x50-pro/how-to/recovery-lr-team-twrp-3-4-1b-0616-t4123353)
This is what I did:
I have downloaded the latest firmware for my device from realmeupdater (https://realmeupdater.com/)
It was an OZIP file, I have unpacked with this tool (https://github.com/bkerler/oppo_ozip_decrypt)
Now I have a zip file
I have downloaded a GSI .img image (I have tried many, the one listed is the one that works best for now)
I have used this tool (https://github.com/xpirt/img2sdat) to convert .img to three .dat files: system.new.dat, system.patch.dat, system.transfer.list
I have used this other tool (https://github.com/VarunSaiTeja/Brotli-Rom-Manager) to convert system.new.dat into system.new.dat.br
I have deleted this three files from the the official rom zip, using 7zip: system.new.dat.br, system.patch.dat, system.transfer.list
I have added to the official rom zip the files just created: system.new.dat.br, system.patch.dat, system.transfer.list
I have put the zip on a flash drive. I have booted in recovery, wiped everything, flashed the zip, closed AVB2.0 from advanced menu, booted into system.
There could be many bugs I have only tested for some hours, I'm sharing this because some expert could find a way to make fingerprint work, modify the top bar to accommodate the camera hole and find a better camera app.
I'm uploading the zip I have created, I'll post it soon.

You flash this gsi zip with twrp ?
I did try before to install GSIs on this phone without success, if thats it, ill try it and see what i can do
Just wondering again; What either in theory or practice prevents from using an Android 11 GSI with this phone?
I don't understand the Project Treble/GSI mechanism enough.
Shouldn't every device from Android 9 (shipped with, that is) able to run a stock android image? i.e. why would this not work - https://developer.android.com/topic/generic-system-image

[SOLVED] Thinking of upgrading my Galaxy Tab S T800 - double check help please

Hello all,
I am thinking of upgrading my T800 to android 7 or 8 and need to start somewhere.
The main reason so many apps are either v7 or 8 min recently and I still use this tablet surprisingly lol
I have read a few threads to help me but I keep seeing that old ones I need to be careful and some say ok and some say no - so I need help.
I checked this thread to start rooting my device:
[Root][Port] Cf-Autoroot T800 [Tab S 10.5 ]
CF-AUTO Root By Chainfire Ported To the Tab S 10.5 By:@BeansTown106 First off, Huge Thanks to Chainfire for coming up with AutoRoot & for his SuperSU App Warning: I cannot be held responsible...
forum.xda-developers.com
Now - with my research I need:
Odin 3.13.1 the latest
Download Cf-Autoroot T800 from the link above
load the file to AP Odin and install to tablet
Then do the same again with TWRP with the latest file I found called: twrp-3.5.0_9-0-chagallwifi.img.tar
Reboot and should be rooted with TWRP as far as I have read
Now - do these files still work and is it ok for me to use the above to start? Am I missing anything? I guess SuperUser gets install with the rooting?
I am on Android 6.0.1 currently.
Then I need to choose an Android 7 or 8 or 9 or 10 - but seems only 7 OFFICIAL I can see - would want as close to stock as possible and the most stable I guess - can anyone recommend which ROM to flash, please?
Thank you in advance
Ben
bumping an old question - I guess may be difficult to get an answer for such an old device.
if anyone can help pls reply or PM me.
you are planning to install custom rom right? most custom rom have built in root included just follow the custom rom installation and your pretty much good to go
LineageOS seems the most popular and active custom rom for your device
No you shouldnt use cf auto root as it might brick your device reportedly.
Use magisk v21 instead (again v22 is bricking devices).

twrp-3.5.0_9-0-chagallwifi.img.tar
2: I installed the Samsung USB drivers - and checked that I could transfer files to and from the PC - in this step I added the files into my external SD Card:
lineage-14.1-20210122-UNOFFICIAL-chagallwifi
addonsu-14.1-arm-signed
open_gapps-arm-7.1-nano-20210224
3: Once they were copied over - I unplugged the tablet and powered it off.
4: I opened ODIN on my win10 machine
5: I booted the tablet into download mode - by pressing the HOME-VOL:downOWER at the same time
6: I added the twrp-3.5.0_9-0-chagallwifi.img.tar file into the AP of Odin. Go to options, and deselect "auto-reboot"
7: Pressed START in Odin and waited for the Green PASS! to show.
8: Unplugged cable from the tablet
9: This is important -
You need to power off and power on back to the recovery you just flashed - if you miss this you may have to start again from the top here.
When done press HOME-VOL:downOWER for about 5 to 8 seconds - the screen will change and as soon as it changes let go and repress HOME-VOL:upOWER at the same time - the only change is the volume to UP. This will then boot to TWRP.
10: when TWRP first comes on - just swipe right
11: On the home screen of TWRP - I decided to make a backup - so I went to back up - and backed up to my SD Card. This takes a long time
12: when this was done - I went WIPE - and selected Format Data
13: when done go back and select INSTALL - here choose:
lineage-14.1-20210122-UNOFFICIAL-chagallwifi - then add zip and choose
addonsu-14.1-arm-signed - then add zip and choose
open_gapps-arm-7.1-nano-20210224
14: Start flashing. this is quite quick except for the Gapps.
15: When done - you will be asked to format cache and davlik partitions click it and when done - REBOOT
16: Wait a while, you should see the Samsung Logo - then the blue arc of LineageOS and go through the set up. The first boot can take 4 to 6 minutes - in my case, it was about 6 minutes.
17: Optional ROOT
Go to Settings > About Tablet > tap the build number seven times to enable developer options
Then go back and go to > Developer Options > Root Access. and choose what you want - I selected Apps Only.
I hope this helps anyone looking to do the same and wanted to say THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAS HELPED ME.
Done.
Hi, I'm thinking of doing the same (for security reasons since updates are no longer provided for Android v6).
What version of Android did you end up with?
And have you had any issues since your upgrade?
Thanks

And do you get ongoing automatic updates for android 7 or does that need you to go through the manual upgrade process again?
(sorry, newb questions)
Thanks

That is ok,
Once you are in Lineage - you will get updates as they release them - and just upgrade from the app - you will have to go to TWRP to upgrade after you download the update but it is an easy and quick process
ill try get some screen prints now for you
The last updates

PX5 Assert Failed: update _dynamic partitions... when flashing ROMs (Help Request)

Hey guys,
The title says it all. When trying to flash ROMs, I get an error saying= assert failed: update_dynamic_partitions(package_extract_file("dynamic_partitions_op_list")) E:error in /mnt/usb_storage/update.zip (status 7) Installation aborted.
Recovery version: HCT 10.3.0 rockchip/rk3368/rk336810/QQ2A.200305.004.A1/hct206241158userdebug/test-keys
PX5 Head Unit 4GB Ram Android 10 HCT the latest
I have 5 people and a couple of friends from XDA suffering from the same problem. We all have px5 devices that were originally android 8.0.0, which we updated to android 10 using ModInstaller Pro.
The ROMs we are trying to flash are updated HCT ROMs(stock), Malaysk or VIVID. All exhibit the same problem.
I had an idea to remove the assert update_dynamic_partitions(package_extract_file("dynamic_partitions_op_list")) from updater.script but I don't know what it does really. Dynamic partitions are a new thing for me. We do not have OTG support so if it gets bricked its game over.
Steps followed: Format Usb flash drive with fat32 filesystem (I tried 2 tested and working ones, one new).
Put update.zip in it.
Boot the head unit and click wipe data and install when it pops up.
We always get the same error.
Any help is truly appreciated.
Try Mr. Hanichl procedure # 347:

There are threads for paid roms and support via the mod, what does the developer suggest when approached for paid support.
If paid app fails and developer is unable to support, have free, factory methods such as OTG been tried.
Also, this isn't software development, requesting mod moves to q&a forum.

Thank you, I downloaded and installed Magisk on the tablet and yet downloaded the link of the described "Android 10 factory image" (it's valid for my Toshido tablet too, right?.. ), then I extracted all into my pc, and copied a file named "boot.img" into my tablet as described on the thread (as I understood..)...for now I wished ask you if till now I did right.. (I didn't install the "Boot.img" file yet, because I still have to install ADB and FASTBOOT tools because I tried but my Linux OS is giving me some problems w repository 'n I'm trying to solve hoping soon...)
I'd like if someone can follow me in these steps... I hope to not annoy you I'd be very gratefull if you can do, 'cause I still have very little experience...
The latest ADB / Fastboot drivers you can obtain here:
