Realme X50 Pro 5g GSI (RMX2071) - Realme X50 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi everyone, I am a RMX2071 owner and I was experimenting with GSI images, I have installed the AOSP 10 GSI (AOSP 10.0 v222) Source: https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/releases/tag/v222
Seems like it works except for the fingerprint (it doesn't work) and the camera that could be better. I'm not a developer nor I'm familiar with Android modding. I have bricked my phone several times during the attempt. This is not an advice or guide, everything you do is at your own risk.
I had unlocked bootloader and TWRP (Source: https://forum.xda-developers.com/realme-x50-pro/how-to/recovery-lr-team-twrp-3-4-1b-0616-t4123353)
This is what I did:
I have downloaded the latest firmware for my device from realmeupdater (https://realmeupdater.com/)
It was an OZIP file, I have unpacked with this tool (https://github.com/bkerler/oppo_ozip_decrypt)
Now I have a zip file
I have downloaded a GSI .img image (I have tried many, the one listed is the one that works best for now)
I have used this tool (https://github.com/xpirt/img2sdat) to convert .img to three .dat files: system.new.dat, system.patch.dat, system.transfer.list
I have used this other tool (https://github.com/VarunSaiTeja/Brotli-Rom-Manager) to convert system.new.dat into system.new.dat.br
I have deleted this three files from the the official rom zip, using 7zip: system.new.dat.br, system.patch.dat, system.transfer.list
I have added to the official rom zip the files just created: system.new.dat.br, system.patch.dat, system.transfer.list
I have put the zip on a flash drive. I have booted in recovery, wiped everything, flashed the zip, closed AVB2.0 from advanced menu, booted into system.
There could be many bugs I have only tested for some hours, I'm sharing this because some expert could find a way to make fingerprint work, modify the top bar to accommodate the camera hole and find a better camera app.
I'm uploading the zip I have created, I'll post it soon.

You flash this gsi zip with twrp ?

I did try before to install GSIs on this phone without success, if thats it, ill try it and see what i can do

Just wondering again; What either in theory or practice prevents from using an Android 11 GSI with this phone?
I don't understand the Project Treble/GSI mechanism enough.
Shouldn't every device from Android 9 (shipped with, that is) able to run a stock android image? i.e. why would this not work - https://developer.android.com/topic/generic-system-image

Unpacker Kitchen for Android(UKA)

version: 4.9.4
Last update of the program in the header: 04/06/2020
Developer: kory-vadim
For the program to function, root privileges are required.
Install: flash as Magisk module
Short description:
Unpacking, assembling and converting system (vendor) {. Img} {. New.dat} {. New.dat.br}, mounting raw.images, gluing the system.img broken into parts into a single image (from the firmware for Qfil), unpacking payload.bin, repackaging boot (recovery) .img, extracting file_contexts from boot.img (android <= 8.1), and converting file_contexts.bin on the phone.
Description:
To unpack images, you can use a phone with android 5+.
The system make_ext4fs is used from the phone’s firmware, so on a phone with android 6+ (or better 7), you can collect system.img images from android 5+.
We need root rights, busybox (needed before UKA version: 4.4 inclusive) and enough space for the images themselves and unpacking them in ./data.
Before flashing versions 4.6, 4.7, delete the old version and flash the corresponding archive via twrp.
In the kitchen there is a utility AIK - Android Image Kitchen for repacking boot (recovery) .img.
If, for some reason, you do not want to flash AIK-mobile (or, for example: already installed), then delete the file "AIK.Mobile.Installer.v3.4.zip" from the archive and flash "unpack-android_new_4.6. zip "without this file.
After flashing, install the terminal emulator (if it is not already installed), and check the box for UTF-8 in its settings.
To start the kitchen, in the terminal enter:
su
menu
Go to the item: "Extract file_contexts", and select the subitem: "Install configuration", if this is not done, then the conversion file_contexts.bin -> file_contexts will not work.
You need to run the configuration installation only once.
*In version 4.5 and above it should work without applying this item.
And then enter the numbers corresponding to the desired action.
To extract file_contexts, put boot.img in the folder: /data/local/UnpackerContexts.
To unpack .img images, you need to put system.img or vendor.img in the folder: /data/local/UnpackerSystem, and select the .img file (no more than 5) for unpacking.
When unpacking, the folders will be deleted: "system", or "vendor"; files: * _fs_config and * _pack.sh from the previous unpacking.
To build the image, copy the received file_contexts to the folder: /data/local/UnpackerSystem, if for some reason it will not be in the folder, then the assembly will be performed with file_contexts obtained when unpacking the image.
If files or folders were added to the disassembled image, then before assembling it, you must enter everything added into fs_config, and only then collect it.
If there are spaces in the names of folders or files in the unpacked image, then make_ex4fs will not collect such an image until you rename the files and correct the entries in fs_config.
Therefore, adding folders and files with spaces to the unpacked image is also not possible.
In version 4.6, the write assistant in fs_config is added.
If you just deleted something, then you do not need to edit fs_config.
Also in the collected folder must be present symlinks.
Well, in terms of context, Selinux will also need to be watched, depending on what was added.
To unpack or convert .dat, .br and in other cases, you will be prompted to enter the path to the folder where the image is located (in the same folder should be system (vendor) .transfer.list).
When converting and assembling in .dat, look behind the phone screen, because in some cases you need to enter a number corresponding to the version of the android, the image being collected.
There is a choice of compression ratio for converting * .new.dat to br.
To reduce the conversion time, compression can be selected 3-5 (maximum 7).
To unpack boot (recovery) .img, put the file in the folder: /data/local/AIK-mobile, and select the file in the menu: "unzip boot"
For packaging, use the item: "pack boot".
The collected file will be located in the folder: /data/local/AIK-mobile with the name boot-output.img.
To clean the working folder, also use the corresponding item. Source and output files will not be deleted.
AIK-mobile can be completely removed from the phone directly from the menu.
To mount, use the corresponding menu item, and the raw image must be located in the folder: /data/local/UnpackerSystem.
Do not forget to unmount the image.
To remove the kitchen from the phone, go to the corresponding menu item and confirm the removal,
after confirmation, the phone will be overloaded in twrp, and after working out the script, it will be loaded into the system.

Hello ??
First thank you for the great work ?
After downloading version 4.9.2 I found it perfect for Android ROMs modification without the need for a computer .. But it needed translation, so work began on that then I decided to add a feature to save and rebuild the ROM currently installed on the device .. This feature is tested on one device " MediaTek treble enabled " .. and on two Android systems 9 And 10 and works perfectly this feature helped me a lot to repack and share the ROM after debugging it or adding new features .. Sorry I don't have other devices to confirm the effectiveness of this feature, but the script is designed to support most versions of Android and many devices when possible .. I'm glad if you accept to add and develop this feature in the next updates .. Thank you.

This is a small fix for zuk z2 pro and plus and there is no problem to flash the final rom build.
But if you want your vendor file output name like this "factory.new.dat.br" then you have to wait.

All custom roms(z2+) shows "vendor.new.dat.br" in zip, only they unpack in /factory partition .

Looking for June-updated boot image

I want to avoid configuring the system from scratch and thus need to recover the official boot image for PPIS29.65-51-5 for the European version (reteu), which has been available since few days ago.
Does anyone know where to find it?
Stockrom[1] only has the Brazilian version (retbr) and lolinet[2] only has versions up to PPIS29.65-51-3. The Telegram Moto Updates Tracker[3] shows the update, but the download does not work and the older MotoOTA script[4] does not work neither (or I am entering incorrect information) and the newer MotoOTA script[5] needs the build guid, which I do not seem to be able to get from fastboot or TWRP.
If you have a matching model and version, could you please get the boot image[6] and put it somewhere?

[4]: motoota.lolinet.com
[5]: motoota.lolinet.com/guid.php
[6]: android.stackexchange.com/a/190102
Update
I learned that the former most recent version [7] can be used to find out the guid inside of oem.img inside of that zip file:
ro.mot.build.guid=7d7b4268f01b080
Using that information [5] can be used to download Motorola's OTA zip file. However, that zip file seems to be some kind of patch format (only 72 MB instead of the typical 1.9 GB) not including a (complete) boot.img. As I do not know the file format, I can't patch the new boot.img myself.

Blu released kernel source today. 8-27. The tar.hz is dated April, eh, whatever.
I added the source files to the wip twrp tree, it compiles without error. (Not my normal experience , on first time out with Blu kernel).
But as mentioned before, the twrp will not pack the image correctly. Because of the need for new dtb commands that twrp 9.0 build environment does not accept.
And when building in the twrp 10.0-wip tree, the results have not booted for me yet. (I'm on build attempt 12, or so)
I'm rambling, sorry.
When I repack the twrp using the built kernel, twrp has only blank screen, and adb is active. So kernel is slightly off.
Build did not output separate dtb or dtbo.
Well I confirmed it, the screen on this phone is not the one the kernel is building for.
I compared the defconfig from source, the one that matches the name in build prop, to the one I pulled from /proc. And they are different, and the kernel errors out during build when using right defconfig. So, waiting again for Blu to provide the files.
There does not appear to be any interest in this phone, other than my own.
Well maybe it will catch on
It's been advertised on many mm ore locations than the average BLU phone.

Not yet. They acknowledged my email, but as yet have not updated there posted source.
Root is half way achieved.
Factory rom was found. It included a boot-debug.img
When this image is used in boot partition, adb root is allowed.
It is only limited root. Example: blockdev command , used to allow remount / to rw, is not permitted. Bit is start.
Factory flashtool rom shared on Blu developers mediafire page.
Will add link to debug-boot.img soon
added to device folder listed in OP

This is not entirely true.
Many Umidigi phones have been upgraded from 9 to 10. So the partitions would be very similar and considerably easy to root.
But for new phones coming with 10 the story changes. Read the last pages of your link's article. In addition, I know why and effect on Umidigi Power 3 still has limitations on root.
So this BLU G90 is not very different and depends on a lot of experimentation and tests. I believe that the OP is doing a great job mainly taking everything to github and trying to compile the kernel and firmware.

[LG Velvet 4G | LMG910EMW] A noobs guide for installing Magisk (rooting), SafetyNet, Gcam buffer fix and fingerprint fix

Disclaimer: None of this is my work! I only used guides from other people and decided to create single a step-by-step guide for the LG Velvet (4G version). I tried crediting all people at the end of the post.
I am not responsible if you brick your device - use this guide at your own risk and know what you are doing.
After unlocking, your fingerprint reader will no longer work, this can be fixed and the instructions can be found below.
All these tools are commandline tools (cmd) - you should know how to use them.
You should also be familiar with "adb" and "fastboot".
This is not a guide for noobs, only a guide made by a noob.
Unless mentioned otherwise, all these steps are to be done on your computer.
I used Windows 10, it should work on other platforms just fine with a few modifications.
Bootloader Unlock
(European Version - I have no idea about the possibilities of unlocking provider-locked phones or other regions!!!)
Create an account and follow the instructions here:
https://developer.lge.com/resource/mobile/RetrieveBootloader.dev
The steps are explained quite well, therefore I will not write them down here unless people actually have problems with the steps.
(Preparation on the phone: Enable developer options, allow USB debugging and allow OEM Unlock.)
As always, unlocking the bootloader will WIPE your phone.
Installing Magisk / Systemless root
(After you successfully unlocked the bootloader, remember to re-enable developer options on the phone and allow USB Debugging)
Download the latest firmware here.
Use the IMEI search if you don't know which one you need!
Using this page, you will eventually receive a link ending in .kdz.
I don't recommend using the Download tool provided by lg-roms, but instead this script:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...nd-lgup_ui-fixer.3916444/page-2#post-84148225
Paste the .kdz URL in the tool and wait for the Download to complete.
Next, you will need a copy of kdztools. Download a copy of this repository.
Important: Do not download from "Releases" - they are outdated! Instead, download a copy of the current master branch!
To be able to use this tool, you need to have python3 installed.
I will not further describe this step as there are enough tutorials out there and it is usually self explanatory.
You will have to install the module "zstandard" for the script to work:
pip3 install zstandard
Click to collapse
Use KDZ Tools together with the downloaded firmware.
First, exctrat the KDZ file:
python unkdz.py -f G910EMW10i_00_0520.kdz -x
Click to collapse
You should now have a large .dz file in the subfolder "kdzextracted". We can use this file to extract the boot image:
python undz.py -f c:G91010i_00_user-signed-ARB0_COM1_EU_OP_0520.dz -s 41
Click to collapse
After this step, you should have a file "boot_a.image" in the subfolder "dzextracted".
(If you received a different file, use "python undz.py -f c:G91010i_00_user-signed-ARB0_COM1_EU_OP_0520.dz --list" and search for the partition named boot, edit the number "41" in the previous command accordingly)
Rename the boot_a.image to "boot.img" and copy it to your phone.
Download and install the latest Magisk release on your LG device.
In Magisk, select Install and patch the boot.img file.
After patching, copy the patched Magisk image back to your computer, rename it for easier use.
Using adb/fastboot on your pc:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash boot_a magisk.img
fastboot flash boot_b magisk.img
Click to collapse
Finally
fastboot reboot
Click to collapse
Wait for the phone to boot and check Magisk installation status.
Congratulations!
Disable automatic firmware updates on your phone if you want to avoid having to re-install a patched Magisk image after every update!
Passing SafetyNet (Google Pay and more)
(You might not need all steps - after every step, you can check SafetyNet status via Magisk and if it is still broken, continue with the next step.)
Reboot after every step!
In the Magisk App, open Settings (top right) and enable the option "MagiskHide"
Download Universal safetynet fix and manually add as a module in the Magisk app
Download Magisk Hide Props Conf (manual DL not needed, can be found as a module directly in the app)
Unless there was an update to SafetyNet, you should now be able to set up and use SafetyNet services like Google Pay
Fixing your fingerprint reader
After the bootloader unlock, you will no longer be able to register fingerprints. This can be fixed using the following steps:
Launch the hidden service menu by dialing #*462633*#910# (might require an inserted SIM card)
SVC Menu -> Handprint -> HandID Logging "ON"
Go to the start of the menu and then navigate to "Device Test" -> SAAT -> Manual Test -> Optical FingerPrint Test
Press SEVERAL times firmly on the green button until it says FAILED, confirm and exit the menu
Go to settings and set up your fingerprints!
AFAIK, you can now disable "HandID Logging" again
Gcam Buffer Fix (Viewfinder Lag)
Using Gcam on the LG Velvet 4G, you will notice that most of the ports will not work properly.
Only a few versions based on Gcam 6.x with the option "buffer fix" will somewhat work, but not very well.
If you have Magisk installed, you can install the Buffer Fix that was originally designed for the LG V40 (Use the one for Android 10). Just flash the ZIP as a Magisk module.
Some Gcams will crash but MGC builds by BSG appear to work well!
(I don't know how this buffer fix works so I don't know if it is healthy to flash a module that was designed for a different phone but I tried several bufferfixes for different phones and this one appears to work flawless.)

Hi. I wonder how it is possible to unlock the bootloader using this page since the LG Velvet 4G (LM-G910EMW) doesn't seem to be at the supported devices list. How did you got it?
Is there a way someone can help to unlock Korea version of velvet?
Can someone from 20a backup me system and vendor partitions ? Not the ones from kdz, i need as they are in the phone with partition backup app that requires root either with qfil? i can give instructions just dm me on telegram @EmanuelCN0 . I specifically need from EMW model.
Got the German Version of the phone (DEA) ... Everytime i want to use undz.py it says Error: extraneous data found IN version. Also unkdz.py says something but extracts the .dz. Any idea what i could do ?
Hello. I've succesfully rooted my European Velvet LTE/4G variant.
Most of the kdz extractors are a total disaster and won't work with recent KDZs. You have to use this one:
A correct extractor for LG's KDZ Android image files
A correct extractor for LG's KDZ Android image files - kdz.py
gist.github.com
This is the correct, working KDZ extractor. Save this raw Python script for example as a kdz_extractor.py.
Now, assuming you already have performed the previous necessary steps like installing zstandard with pip, all you have to do is:
python3 kdz_extractor.py -e <where to extract> <kdz to extract>
You'll have a file called 4.boot_a.img, around 96 MBs. Now you can keep following the OP guide.
I can provide the patched boot_a.img for LMG910EMW Android 11 20a version if someone needs it.

Yeah i already saw it and it worked.... Just forgot to write you a big : THAAAANNNNK YooooooUUUU!!!!!!!!!
Hi. Thank you very much for the detailed explanations.
Update. Rooting worked for me for LG Velvet LMG910EMW and Android 12 with a minor change:
The extract of boot.img did not work as described. Following tools failed for me
1 kdztools -> "Error: extraneous data found IN version" :-/
2 LG Extractor tool -> ZlibException: Bad state - zero bytes :-/ (also with kdz DZ file)
3 "hovatek" ectractor -> unsupported data file :-/ (tested with both DZ and KDZ files)
4 adb dd command to dump the my-name boot partition -> permission denied :-/
Finally it worked with kdz.py from https://gist.github.com/iscgar/e0da0868df7b2f179b000c61f12d1a8c
So i just put in the 5GB Android 12 KDZ from my previous flash and it extracted all partitions including the boot_a.img/boot_b.img files (each around 93 MB).
A quick test with fastboot boot boot_a.img showed that they are working.
Btw. I unlocked the bootloader already with Android 10 (see other post), before i updated to Android 12 with LGROMUP1.1.
The original LGUP did not work because the roms i found are in region "DEA" and my phone seems to be restricted for EU market.
In LGROMUP1.1, this seems to play no role. There was no partition selection, just "flash" button, but it preserved the unlocked bootloader to my surprise.
A lot of automatic restarts until it reached 100%, but everything went smooth.
Cheers.
I am interested in this Velvet 4G with dual screen. Can you answer me two questions please: 1º Is the battery life good? 2º Does the dual screen of the Velvet 5G snap765 work in this 4G model? Thanks friends.

Rooting Guide
OVERVIEW:
This guide outlines simplified instructions for rooting the Assurance Wireless Moxee MH-T6000 4G-LTE smartphone. To cater this guide to new and inexperienced members, I have provided a stock boot image pre-patched with the Magisk v26.1 systemless root solution.
PREREQUISITES:
First and foremost, you need an unlocked bootloader. If your bootloader is not yet unlocked, complete that task and then return here. XDA hosts a plethora of how-to guides on standard bootloader unlocking. You will also need a Windows PC or laptop running the Minimal ADB & Fastboot Tools (link provided below). It should be noted that this guide can be carried out on a Mac or Linux computer as well; however, for purposes of this guide, I am focusing solely on a Windows setup. It is highly recommended that your device be running firmware build number MH-T6000V1.0.OB010, with the March 5, 2023 security patch level. As OTA updates are rolled out for this device, I will try to keep this guide updated with a patched boot image that corresponds with the latest firmware build.
Finally, you will need the factory supplied, or a quality equivalent USB-A to USB-C charging/syncing cable.
DISCLAIMER:
By proceeding further, you are assuming sole responsibility for the integrity and operability of your smartphone. Rooting your device is a task that carries with it the inherent risk of bricking or otherwise rendering your phone inoperable. While this guide has been thoroughly tested on my own device, you have been warned. Proceed at your own risk.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Download the ADB & Fastboot tools from the link below and install the program on your PC or laptop;
Open your Windows File Explorer, navigate to your C: drive, Program Files x86, and locate the Minimal ADB & Fastboot folder. Copy this folder and paste it to your desktop. (This step is not required, but is recommended for easier access of the ADB & Fastboot path);
Download the patched boot image from the below link and save the image in your ADB & Fastboot folder. Note: the filename for the patched boot image is patched_boot.img. The flashing commands assume that you leave the filename unchanged;
Boot your phone into fastboot mode by first powering your device off, and then holding the power and volume down keys simultaneously until fastboot mode appears on your device display;
Connect your smartphone to your Windows computer using the factory supplied or a quality equivalent USB-A to USB-C charging/syncing cable;
Open your ADB & Fastboot folder and double click cmd-here.exe to open a command window. Execute this command to verify a proper fastboot connection:
Code:
fastboot devices
If properly connected, the command window will return an alphanumeric string consistent with your device serial number;
Once a proper connection has been verified, execute this command:
Code:
fastboot flash boot patched_boot.img
Now execute:
Code:
fastboot reboot
Upon reboot, open your app drawer and tap on the Magisk app or its placeholder stub. Ensure you are connected to the internet, grant any permissions, and follow any prompts given by Magisk to update to the full version in order to complete the root environment setup. Magisk may reboot your device during this process.
That's it. You're now rooted via the Magisk v26.1 systemless root solution.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
In the unfortunate event that you get stuck in a boot loop or brick your device using this guide, my guide on unbricking this smartphone will get you back up and running fairly quickly. This guide can be used to restore both soft bricked and hard bricked devices. You can then return here and give rooting another go.

Lol. Now you post this. After unsuccessfully scouring the internet for the stock firmware. I finally did the same as you and simply reached out to konnectone and asked for it. I just came here to see if there was anyone here that is by far more knowledgeable than myself (not hard) interested to have the firmware and would post a guide like this one. Well done!
Would you happen to have a twrp recovery compiled for this device by chance? Or if not but planning on it would you let me know please. I would appreciate it!

I just got KonnectONE to agree to release firmware a couple of days before you mentioned having firmware. It's been a long wait indeed.
I don't have source code to compile TWRP; only the firmware. I will be attempting to port a TWRP build for this phone very soon. My legal battle with KonnectONE was in regards to source code under the General Public License 2.0. Because they were ultimately unable to provide kernel source, their legal team and support department finally acquiesced to provide firmware to device owners upon written request. I compromised for the firmware release, but was not able to get kernel source code for building TWRP. I am pretty confident that a ported TWRP can be ironed out as a stable build. I already have the base build selected.
Thank you so much! I have 3 of these devices and been waiting lol. I see the stock kernel has hot-plug . What's some good tuning profiles? I tried to debloat permanently with LP but it didn't work. I think it's read-only so I flashed the magisk overlay for rw and going to play. We definitely need TWRP! I see a port may be in the works. Awesome. Thanks again

Several months ago they weren't releasing firmware to the public. I got it released by battling with them over open source code and I ultimately compromised for factory firmware. It was only recently made public.
Yeah I've noticed a nice performance boost too with some debloating and sone kernel tweaks. I'm using EX Kernel Manager. Keep in mind this device uses dynamic partitioning (super.img). As such, even with root, it isn't always possible to mount /system r/w. I extracted the super.img on a PC and then mounted /system, /vendor and /product, debloated, and then repacked and reflashed super img.
Awesome. I don't have a good pc now unfortunately. I do have viper4android repackaged version with driver and effects pre-installed. I used smart pack kernel manager to tweak kernel. The device is very useable now! I have a Blu View 3 android 11 mtk device id love to root but can't even unlock bootloader. Maybe I should look into emailing them

BLU won't unlock your bootloader. It is locked per contractual agreement with the branded carrier of the phone. However, if it's MediaTek, you may be able to use MTK Client to exploit the bootloader into an unlocked state.

Sure. I don't mind sharing my super.img. I'll need to upload it and then I'll message you a link. It's pretty much exactly 2.5 GB in file size, so I'll first compress it to a zip before uploading.

I don't yet have all my mods made to the /super partition in that regard. Having encountered some force close issues with certain apps, I debloated from scratch and and have now begun my kernel tweaks and edits to the.varuous .prop files. So when finished, I'll share both my boot.img and super.img.
Just the stock super.img would be fine then. I think I can figure how to decompile, debloat and recompile then flash.
