Hi to all,
Since few days, I've major issues to update or download some apps (Firefox, Snap for example and others...). Some stop at 99 percent, some at 100, some at 60...
I'm a bit confused, cause I've tried all things :
- update Play Store and Play Services
- factory reset (by OOS or by recovery)
- delete cache and data for Play Store & Play Services
- disable Google app
None of the solutions worked.
What can I do ? I don't like the fact that I must do a 3rd factory reset...
I'm on stock latest stable version of OOS.
Up
An other factory reset didn't help.
Do you see the issue if you disconnect wifi and just use cell data? I had a similar issue a while back and my router was the problem. Ended up resetting that and it fixed it.

This used to happen for Webview and Chrome for me.
Try this. When the app is trying to update, cancel it. Make sure all other apps are updated. Then update the apps one at a time.
That works for me and the apps update without issue after that. I believe it is a problem with the play store and not with the OS.
Thanks a lot but didnt help

What do u mean ?
The issue is here on mobile data
EDIT : I've just reflashed the entire fastboot rom, no changes
edit 2 : don't forget the issue is here for some fresh apps (not updates) like when I try to dl Snapchat (92 % stuck), Firefox (99 % stuck)...
I too had the problem yesterday when I tried to get Swiftkey. Download stopped at 85%. Tried several times with no luck. Then I tried one more time and just left it alone. An hour later when I checked, it had finished. Too bad swiftkey sucks worse than gboard. Interestlingly after trying swiftkey for less than a day after uninstalling it, gboard seems to be working better. weird
i've the issue with several apps, not only one...
But thanks for your contribution
Good evening, I had exactly the same problem and on 3 OP7Pro GM1913. I wiped, reset the phone completely but still the same problem. So I contacted google who tells me that my phone is not officially compatible with the google service. So I contacted oneplus who tells me that it's a hardware problem.
But tonight I finally found a solution: I used nord vpn and I connected in Germany (I'm in France).
And the : miracle ! All my applications have been installed.
I occur this issue too.

I've NordVPN app but if I'm with you, a factory reset should have solved that. Or, it's not solved.
I'll try to uninstall it. Thanks even if it doesn't work
EDIT : few words in French, c'est effectivement un miracle en fait j'avais pas compris : je pensais que tu étais connecté à un VPN et que tu l'avais désinstallé. Et en fait non, tu fais l'inverse.
I've tried to connect to NordVPN in Switzerland, et en effet ça marche, merci à toi
You have to connect to a VPN (NordVPN) and it works !
Yea seems like there was an issue with the play store but seems to have fixed itself for me
I still have the issue as of today on my OP7T Pro (I'm also in France), Mobile Carrier is Orange (also for the Fiber connection). VPN is not helping for me (I use VyprVPN). Tried also to factory reset and it didn't work even after the reset. Does work a bit better in safe mode though (if I deactivate the Google app)...
Any other solution you would have in mind?
Replying to myself... After 3 factory reset (even wiped the internal storage) I found the culprit app...
The Amazon Alexa app as soon as installed was blocking any other installation. For what it's worth I'm using adaway and one of their API request while installing the app was probably never working (because sent to 127.0.0.1) and it was blocking any apps from being installed/updated. What I don't understand is how this can be blocking. This process should be async on the playstore side...
Anyway, uninstalling the app made everything fine again...

I am also experiencing this issue for weeks, but a VPN solved it. When a download is stuck (like Snap or Google Message), I use Nord VPN and everything gets downloaded :good:
finally found the culprit. make sure to disable the randomization of ur mac address in the network details.

Hey all,
Anyone noticed any recent abnormally high background data utilisation from Android OS (both wifi and mobile?).
UK XT1032, 16GB stock unrooted Tesco firmware currently on 176.44.1. Hangouts, Migrate, Google+, Google Play Music, Google Play Movies & TV, Google Play Games, Google Play Books, & Chrome all disabled. Google Backup and Automatic Restore are on, all of the other Google Services set to Sync automatically. I use Firefox as my browser (with a sync to my laptop Firefox).
I've looked back on the data records for my phone and it looks like the problem started around the 25th of February. This roughly coincides to the last OTA to 176.44.1 which I'm pretty sure I got on the 26th or 27th. The most recent Google Play Services (4.4.43) installed on 1/3/14. The only other thing I can think of is K9 Mail which I installed on the 24th, although I'm struggling to see how a User app could show data used under Android OS.
I've checked my other half's Moto G (8GB UK version - O2 variant, stock unrooted) and she hasn't got this showing up at all. I've compared Sync/Backup settings between the two phones and they are the same, and other than Chrome she has pretty much the same stuff disabled. She doesn't use Firefox, and uses the stock email app with an exchange account.

16/1/14 to 13/2/14 - 311MB (so about 11MB day)
13/2/14 to 25/2/14 - 71.2MB ( about 6 MB day)
25/2/14 to 13/3/14 - 0.93GB ( about 55MB per day)
Mobile Data
15/1/14 to 15/2/14 - 70.19MB ( about 2.5MB per day)
15/2/14 to 25/2/14 - 21.14MB (about 2MB per day)
25/2/14 to 13/3/14 - 275MB (about 16MB per day)
Possible solutions to try
1) Get rid of K9 email for a while (I use it because the stock email app appears to be incompatible with my talktalk.net ISP email account - it receives but can't send).
2) Cache Wipe in Recovery (although I'm pretty sure I've done this once since the last OTA)
3) Remove and then re add my gmail account.
4) Factory Reset.
Before I commence anyone else experiencing this problem, or even better has had the problem and solved it!
Indeed I have the same issue, the one thing I believe that fixed it was turning off Google backup but I am not sure if is a permanent fix or a fix at all, since I renabled it. Try it!
Thanks, switched off Google Backup this morning, and that seems to have sorted it. Android OS only used 336KB of mobile data over 10 hours or so. I'll try and re-enable it later and see what happens.

Bah!
Turned Google Backup back on just before bed (thinking that 6-7 hours on wifi before going to work would be enough for it to do an initial backup) and then headed for work yesterday- Android OS chewed through another 20MB of mobile data in less than 2 hours.
So a simple disable/re-enable isn't the solution. I'll think I'll go for a Factory Reset. Checked my dates again and the problem definitely coincides with the OTA to 176.44.1 - I got it on the 25th.
Issue solved. Nothing to do with the OTA after all, although the factory reset gave me a valuable clue, when I noticed one of the things restored after a factory reset was my static wallpaper.....so Google Backup and Restore backs up the wallpaper, and I've an automation app installed set up to regularly refresh my wallpaper from the gallery. I created the routines on the 24th. Doh. Backup has been uploading multiple wallpapers everyday.
Tested today with the wallpaper switcher disabled and Backup and Restore enabled - no crazy data use and even better battery life than usual. Wallpaper switcher enabled and Backup and Restore disabled all is also fine. Both enabled gives crazy Android OS data use and noticeably more battery drain.

I got my OnePlus one yesterday and all was good, installed a few apps from the playstore.
Then I updated play services and some firmware updates and get a 'RPC:S-7:AEC-0' error when I tried to install/update apps.
I've tried all the usual fixes, clearing data, removing accounts and rebooting and even a factory reset.
Still can't download any apps
Any ideas?

Same here! On my galaxy tab tab 10.1 and my galaxy S4.. Can not update or install apps anymore!
I got a notification saying my Play store services was out of date. Since you have a Galaxy Tab it probably isn't the firmware updates, did you get the same thing?
Same error on all my devices (Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S III, Onda V975m). I think, it's server bug
I'm chatting with a guy from Play customer services. When I told him I had a OnePlus One he asked me if that was an Android phone
Same issue here on my Note 3 and Nexus 7 (and OnePlus). Get ready because it may be a while. Took over two months when it happened to me back in January of this year. Nothing works. Just something from Google's server side. Don't even waste your time taking steps to try and correct it, has to come from their end. Hopefully it's faster than two months this time.

They never explained it to me. Just one day it started working about a week after I filed a BBB complaint. All they said when it started happening was something with their servers on certain Google accounts.
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem since yesterday on my Note 3 and Nexus 7, I have tried everything new firmware, delete cache and data from play store and services framework, sign out and sign in and several other things but nothing seems to work. I hope they fix it soon

Nothing will work. You can try everything you can think of, but the fix is going to have to come from Google server side. All you're going to do is get frustrated. I can't tell you how many times I waned to throw my phone out the window when this happened to me earlier this year. We'll just have to wait and try and keep calm, lol.

I have a ticket raised as well. The customer service rep asked me to send some screen shots of the issue, we'll see what happens.
Same here on all my devices.
It sucks; I reset and install an fresh rom ... I have no app now .... Grrrr
I have this on my GNote 2 (Verizon) as of last night; never heard of it before and the dearth of information on the internet indicates it is a pretty obscure problem. I have my phone backed up via TiBu, so I am not too fraught. Support had me factory reset the phone, no dice -- even other accounts can't instal anything.
Left with a phone with no apps, I activated an old iPhone 4s that was one of my kids before the last round of hand me downs. Surprisingly not awful, but the screen is a postage stamp. Boy, do I miss 4G.

Try going into recovery, wiping the cache partition and rebooting.
If that doesn't work, you might consider doing a factory reset.

I also have a similar problem trying to access language and input. It crashes. Haven't checked data storage setting yet.
Another bug I found, at least for my nexus 7 2013, is for apps that are call-related. Skype, kakaotalk, groove ip, none of them receives voice input from the other side to my device, hence it's muted or screechy.. Skype abruptly ends when attempting video chat, and voice chat doesn't properly start either. Note this is mostly voice apps.
People probably shouldn't conclude it's "pointless" or not without understanding properly what's going on.

Hi all,
This is my first Thread but I am long time follower of the forum, thanks for all the amazing work and support!
I am trying to set up the Google Assistant voice recognition on my wife's new Huawei P20 without success.
The first thing that is weird is that on my OnePlus 3 the Assistant asks me to say twice "Ok Google" and twice "Hey Google", whereas on the P20 I am asked to say thrice "Ok Google", like on the older version of the OP3 Assistant.
Is this normal for Huawei? Is Google behind with the integration of the Assistant on the EMUI?
The second (and main!) problem is that after saying 3 times "Ok Google" nothing happens. Every time I say it a check appears so the Assistant can actually hear what I am saying, but after the third time nothing happens and only the "Cancel" button is active.
Is anyone encountering my same issue?
Does anyone have a solution or a workaround? :fingers-crossed:
Many thanks for your time
Hmm I think the hey google is just an app flag.
You could try to clear the data on the Google App. That worked for my P10 when it failed in a similar manner.
Hope it helps

Hi Paul, thanks for your suggestion.
I have tried to clear the data on the Google App and also in the Google Play Services but it didn't work.
I rebooted in recovery and wiped the cache and it didn't work.
The only time it worked for a little while was by setting the language to English (US), clearing all the data and rebooting the system.
At start up it asked me to configure the assistant from scratch and the voice control worked.
Then I had the brilliant idea to switch the language to English (UK) and the Voice control toggle went back to off and there was no way to activate it again.
However it's worth noting that on my OP3 the language is English (UK) and it works perfectly, so the only thing I can think of is a problem in the implementation in the EMUI.
I am curious to understand if it works fine on the P10 series.
This is where the process gets stuck

Hi.
After the third time you say Hi Google and the device starts to listen, you have to say something different and the app will search the result. That's what I did and it worked.
Cheers :good:
Had a similar problem, only i couldnt even start the setup, it always said "could not connect".
What i did to solve my problem, i deactivated the google app in the setting, downloaded and installed the most recent version from apkmirror:

then i was able to finish the setup succesfully and it is working for me now.

try with setting English (Generic) as your main language (long press on this) and Italian(?) as a second.

Update 15:18 BST
I've been told that there's some incompatibility issues with the OS which could cause some apps to stop working. They believe at the moment that reinstalling the app will workaround the issue for now
They'll release an updated OS as soon as they can
Update 0926 BST (16/09/22)
Just spoken to the Oppo social rep on messenger and they've informed me that this message really only applies to UK customers.
The team have identified a few minor issues which can cause compatibility issues with some app which they wish to address. In response to this they have withdrawn the update from their side for UK region customers.
Other global customers can proceed with the update as they wish.
Yeah, I saw this about 2 hours after upgrading from the beta to the unstable stable!

I'm running the final release (C.35) and for me it's been fine. Have asked for clarity on what the issue is but no response as yet

Yeah not encountered anything yet all the little annoyances from the beta seem fixed.
Though I still need to do a full wipe on my phone because of going up a major version of Android from 12 to Beta and Beta to Stable
Doesn't sound too critical a problem but hang fire if you can is the advice.
Please check the OP -- updated as i learned more

Ah ok nothing major then thankfully.
I'll be Factory Resetting so it should negate this issue anyways as I always manually re-install apps a fresh rather than bring data with them
If I see any issues, I will either factory reset or just try uninstalling and reinstalling the apps that crash!
Hello, I don't know if the same thing happens to someone else, but in the official version the button to activate the automatic brightness has disappeared, in the Beta it was there and now it isn't. The curious thing is that in Android 12 it wasn't there either, it appeared when installing the beta version of android 13.
I don't have the automatic brightness button either.
I guess it's incompatibility with some UK carrier apps or configs then.
I guess this is why I downloaded the 2.6gb update and then it disappeared into the ether when it asked me to install.

Could I ask where you downloaded this from ?
Version C.37 is now available -- i used a vpn and downloaded via france using phone update system
The Photos app has been crashing since the 13 update. I've been trying to delete a couple of photos and the app crashes each time, I can't reinstall it, as it's part of the OS. This is actually a major issue for me, it's one of my most-used apps. It might have been nice to get a heads-up not to install the update. Shutting down and restarting do not help.

Only got the device yesterday and upgraded to android 13 factory reset and transferred over. Just checked and can confirm no issues deleting from default gallery here.
I know it's a pita but maybe a reset and restore given the Android upgrade.

I've just stumbled on a fix - I'd tried a forced stop of the gallery app and that did nothing, so I thought I'd try deleting the pix with Google Photos. Same issue, repeatedly crashed. So I tried a forced stop on that app and bingo - THAT worked. Phew. Photos finally deleted and the default app is working normally.
Thanks for your reply.
