Cant start my car twice since installed PX5 - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

Hi, last week I installed MTCE PX5 unit and OBD module, I enabled auto sleep and about 6 days car worked good, but yesterday I must use cables to start it, so I did one hour ride to charge it, but today it happened again... I have Peugeot 407, my battery have 74 Ah and I have wiring right, because installation was easy plug and play. There was not any space for do some mistake. Also when car engine is running, radio shows income voltage is 14,4, which should be normal and there shouldnt be problem with alternator.
What is best solution now? should I buy car battery charger and try to charge it? Or my battery can be damaged?
Thanks

See an auto electrician.

I have almost the same problem. I just posted a new topic without realizing someone else has the same problem. My car is Renault Megane III coupe. I noticed that even while car is off, the radio periodically starts by itself and turns of after a short while, but over a few days that's enough to drain the battery. I changed the battery, bought a new one and it's still happening.

Try not using auto sleep but a fixed power off interval.
The head unit will take longer to start but probably it shouldn't use battery power when car is off.

Obd port is always on. So might be that draining the car battery.
Hope this helps.

I hope this is it, because I dont want to go to service, I took OBD module off and testing it now and so far so good.

I also have this problem. It's worse now that I don't use the car so often (quarantine and such...).
The first time this happened (after a 1 week vacation away from the car) I had the OBD module installed and I blamed it on that so I removed it and swapped the battery because it wasn't receiving enough charge. But this week (after 12 days without moving the car) the battery is completely flat. Can't even unlock the car with the remote, have to do it with the key.
I tried a lot of hacks (even have the can-bus powered from a fuse that I know it disconnects when I turn the car off), but I still have battery drain problems...
I will probably disconnect the radio when I know I'm going to leave the car off for big periods of time...

Your car needs to be started al least on 3 days interval, 12 days is to much even if you do not have installer an audio system like this.
There are things that are draining your batter also like de security sistem on your car.

Problem with charging

Hello all
I don't know if its a problem with the TP or the Igo.
I'm using Igo v8.3.2.93112 (Jun 8 2009), and the charging somehow stops after about minutes and doesn't resume even when i exit the program to home screen.
I manage to start charging again only after a soft reset.
Help please..
I have been having this problem too. I have left my pro charging overnight at 60% to wake up to a dead device several times. It seems i have to babysit and check the power screen every 10 mintutes to make sure the pro is still charging. I can not listen to music or use the wifi and charge at the same time. I often have to do seval soft resets to get to charge again and it often takes six plus hours to charge up to 30% or more. I noitice when the tp heats up like an oven, the phone stops chargeing. I often have to remove the battery to cool the device before plugging it back in. This device really runs hotter than the tilt. I could use it to cook a steak or BBQ a meal. The manual says this is normal but sooner or later it would cook itself.
Is there any other ways beside not using the tp for a day to deal with the charging problems?

could be a bad battery, if I'm not mistaken, they have some circuitry in them to make sure the battery charges properly.
charging problem
Hi Folks,
I also know this prob. It happend while kind of "power using" the radio unit. That means, using the GPS prog TrackMe, updating positions very often and uploading them via WLAN to my server. Same time bluetooth was active(headset). It felt like the power supply (max.1 A) was not powerful enough to supply the TP properly.
So long, -ULISSES-

[Q] Nexus 5 charging only when it is turned off

Hey there!
My Nexus 5, after updating it to 4.4.3, is having a issue: the device is charging only when it is turned off. When I turn the phone on, while charging, it will remain charging. But if I connect the charger, when the phone is already turned on, it will not charge.
I have tested 2 different cables, same issue.
Is anyone else having the same problem? How to fix it?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Just for clarification: I'm using Kit Kat 4.4.3, rooted, Xposed.
what are you charging from? ac or pc?
AC!

Another question, are you using the stock wall wart? Some aftermarket chargers don't put out enough amperage. Another possibility is that you've got some rogue processes keeping your phone awake so it's using battery as quickly (or quicker) than it can take in a charge.
I'm using the AC charger that came with my Nexus 5.
Updated to 4.4.4. Problem not solved.
I think it might be a hardware issue. I have the same problem with my pebble. I have tried multiple cables/chargers and it only charges when it's off. When it's on I get the charging notification but it doesn't actually charge
Nothing. The devide is still charging only when it is turned off.
Having the same issue since update 2 weeks ago. Already wiped phone and problem still exist. Start to think it's hardware but tried 2 different charger same issue.
So guys I am almost the same problem since this morning. I went on a 3 day trip to the Netherlands on Friday and charged my phone in the car for the last time on friday. I died on me this morning. While I was on the way back today and my N5 was in it's last percents of battery I noticed it wouldnt charge anymore. I thought fastcharging might have killed my car radio. Now back home I tried to charge it. For some reason the charging while off screen reapeared as soon as it turned off. Whenn I turned it on again it stopped charging. Tried rebooting multiple times. My phone now only charges while being in Fastboot or Recovery mode. Anybody having any ideas what might have caused this an how to fix this? Cleaning the charger didn't help me.

Hi. Also had this problem a few days now. Alot of headscraching is done
N5 won`t charge when on. Tried my N10 charger, but still the same. With my wireless charger it register the phone when off, but cannot charge it at all. I've also done a factory reset, and even changed the battery. Still no solution. Wondering if the charging port is damaged somehow. It doesn't cost much so maybe I`ll order a new and replace it to. I remember draining the battery more than usual right before this issue acurred. I was hiking, and din`t bring my portable charger. Also it could be some kind of water damage. Had the phone in my pocket all the time, it was not raining, but I got pretty sweaty:-9 Never had any issue with my stock Nexus 5 up till now. Don`t think this i a common problem, when this is the only place I've found others with this issue I`ll order the charging port, keep on searching on forums, and take it from there.
Good luck
I'm having the same problem on my Nexus 5 now as well. When on, it won't charge via micro-usb (via original charger or USB-to-PC), nor will it charge wirelessly. When turned completely off, it charges, but at GREATLY GREATLY reduced speed. It seems to be stuck in a loop as it it's just been plugged in. It cycles continuously through the lightning-bolt battery image, followed by the charge percentage graphic. The screen blinks, then it starts again. I suspect that it only charges for a moment or two before each reset. For example, it only charged about 20% over the span of six hours last night.
I've tried four chargers and four USB cables, and of course both wireless and wired charging. It's something with the hardware I suspect.
Anyone have any suggestions? It looks the the factory wipe upthread didn't help...
Charging spare part
I am having same problem too. I'm guessing it's because of water damage. Where did you find the charging part? I'm thinking of ordering one for myself to see if the problem is fixed!

GPS and compass Inaccurate when plugged in

I have searched on forums and other places and i can not find a solution. When i have the phone plugged in, the GPS and compass are just not accurate. but when i disconnect it, it fixes itself within 10 seconds.
i tried using the gps status and toolbox app, and it should a good signal when plugged in or not. it just seems odd that 1 app works fine, and the others freak the hell out.
any help would be appreciated.
I tried turning on just GPS only. turning izat off, and nothing seems to work.

Your compass can act up while charging because of the electricity coming through creating an electromagnetic field. Nothing you can do there. Now for your gps, use google maps for awhile. Thats gonna be the most accuarate and compatible app. Try it for a while. If it doenst even work properly, then you may have a broken antenna or faulty OS

What phone do you have and what android version are you running?
ATT LG V10 (hence the sub form)
android 6.0.0
i did a bit more testing and it seems to get worse with quick charge running (got one for my car charger) regular charge is not as bad, but when not charging its perfect.
I still find it hard to believe that the charging is giving off that much interference.
also tested gps toolbox, and it worked great standing still in any state, but once i start moving, the GPS satellites just drop like flies with any kind of charging.
Pokemon go when charging never puts me in the right place and when moving dosnt register the move for at least 100 yards, and sometimes never until i either unplug or reload the location toggle off and on.

will try next weekend. i will not have a chance until then. i'll report back when i try it.
I'm experiencing the same issues with my V10. I'm currently on a road trip and I cant use my GPS for Google maps while the phone is plugged in. As soon as I plug the phone in to the charger the GPS loses signal after about 30 seconds. I have to unplug the phone for about 10 seconds before the GPS starts working again. I know for a fact that my phone didn't do this when I first bought it. It is frustrating to say the least. I'm wondering if the upgrade to Android 6.0 may have broke something. I did read on another site multiple users having the exact same issue.

How to completely turn the HU off

Is it possible to turn the Android head unit (px3 my mtce, malaysk 5.2 ROM) completely off so I can turn it on manually only? I have this problem that my car even when it's off, sends periodical signals to canbus and my radio turns on due to that input, it stays on for 15-20 seconds, sometimes more, sometimes less. But over a few days, if I don't turn my car on, it has a massive impact on my car battery, even to the point that sometimes I can't turn the car on (especially in this winter temperatures when it takes more power to turn it on).
I'd like to have the ability to turn device off (if I know I won't be driving for a few days) and to know it will stay off till I get to my car again.

Head unit power on is exclusively controlled by voltage on the ACC wire. If your car periodically activates ACC, then the only possibility might be to put a manual switch on the ACC wire.
It might be possible the your ACC signal doesn't come directly from the car ignition switch but from another source (canbus?) which might be periodically powered on by the car control unit.
So another possibility to stop the problem could be to check the ACC wire source and possibly set up a direct wiring from the car ignition switch.

That's also what I was thinking about. It does go through canbus. I made a physical button switch on the acc wire. I hope that's it. If battery drain continues then it's something else, although there's nothing it could be except the radio.
Some years ago in a previous car (an old model) I derived the ACC signal directly from one of the lights in the dashboard that lightens and remains so all the time when the car was on.
The ACC wire doesn't actually provide current to the head unit, it's only a test signal the head unit checks to know when powering on and off.

Still inconclusive. I left my car off for a few days but I forgot to turn the switch off So I charged the battery again and I'll monitor battery voltage level over the next few days.
The switch I made is between canbus and the HU, now I'm thinking I should of had made it before the canbus module (in case canbus is responsible for the drain).

I also did that. But I connected it to a fuse that I know it gets no power when the car is OFF so it (supposedly) cuts power to the canbus when the car is off.
Unfortunately, I still have power drain issues... The HU disconnects instantly when I turn the ignition OFF (before it would show a "Shutting down" screen for 2 or 3 seconds), but there seems to be something still draining power.
If it works for you, let me know. And if possible, post some pictures (I'm not really sure I cut the right wire.......)

ACC wire triggers radio on/off, B+ wire is a constant 12V from car battery.
So, SITREP: Yesterday I had 12.7V on battery when I left the car. Today it's 11.8V. Something is still draining the battery.
I changed the auto sleep settings to 1h and I'll check tomorrow if that makes any difference.
If that doesn't help I'll try disconnecting the radio completely just to make sure (even if I'm quite positive) it's the real reason of battery drain.

Only if there's some fault on the HU. Even then, the camera would feel warm to the touch and it doesn't.
I'm beginning to think this thing might not be caused by radio. If that's the case, it will be damn hard to determine what the cause really is

Yes....
So... I disconnected the radio from constant 12V and the drain is gone. Now I made a switch on the B+ wire so I can disconnect it when I leave my car off for a few days. I know it's not the fix but it will allow me not to have to charge the battery every few days. I'm still perplexed with what could be causing the drain within the radio itself though...

Samsung T295 shuts off unexpectedly - Battery mod

Hi all,
I have modified my T295 to run directly off of the 12V in my car.
Basically I got a Buck LM2596 3A Step Down converter and dialed it in to exactly 4.0V to mimic a almost fully charged Li-Ion battery and hooked it up directly to the battery terminals, skipping the tiny board that comes with the battery. In other words, straight to the mainboard.
The tablet works perfectly as a car stereo connected to the Bluetooth Amp and doesn't have any problem, but once every 3 days or so it suddenly shuts off. Sometimes I enter in my car and it's already off and sometimes I'm driving, it suddenly gets a completely black screen and then shuts off. I can turn it on immediately after, but sometimes I need 2-3 tries.
Maybe it's kernel related and triggers some sort of brownout? But this doesn't make sense to me, since I can stress it and it doesn't turn off.
It's Android 9, rooted, debloated and decrypted in case this helps
Thanks for any advice!
