Backspace on virtual keyboard is missing touch register, Am I alone? - Xiaomi Poco X2 Questions & Answers

As the question says my Poco X2 which I got yesterday is having touch issues on the backspace of virtual keyboard. For every 5 to 10 clicks, it feels like it is missing a touch response. Does anyone else have this?
I am using google keyboard and gestures are on. Please answer quickly so that I can RMA this if necessary.
Edit: I also tried Swift keyboard and same. Also, there is a discernable lag between the screen touch and touch register by the keyboard. This is only happening with the backspace.
for diagnosis try repeatedly pressing backspace and compare it with any other key on the keyboard.
Edit 2: I just tested with "Multi Touch Test" app from playstore and tapping at any of the corners is not that responsive compared to tapping at other parts of the screen, I have to tap and hold to register the touch at the corner.
I am beginning to wonder if this is a software issue. Thats why I need you guys who have poco X2 to test it on your phone.

@tinted You should go to service centre and ask them. I've never experienced any touch issue. Touch response is perfect for me.

thanks for the reply, also the service centre is a nice idea, I did not think of that. Will go to the nearest service centre tomorrow and ask them about this and if it is an issue then I will get a replacement.
One thing I have to try is to reset the phone and see if it makes any changes.
By the way, can you double-check the backspace button compared to other keys on the keyboard

Good luck.
I tried it with 3 keyboard apps :Gboard, swift and Moakey (korean gesture based keyboard), there's no issue at all.
And I checked all sides of the screen, no issue too.

Raphael Issues List:

Right, I can't see an Issues list for this device yet so I'll start one:
1. A couple of times now, I've left my phone to charge overnight and woke up to an unresponsive device. Power button does nothing, screen is off and only way to get it device back up and running is to poke the soft-reset button OR remove and reinsert the battery.
2. Unresponsive buttons: every now and then the "right" button of the D-Pad does nothing, then suddenly it will start working again, same with the "Back" button though much more infrequent/noticable than the D-Pad issue I've experienced.
I did not expierence the first problem with the charging issue.
To close and app you can use the (arrow pointing left) key but sometimes i have to push it like 3 or 4 times before it respond.
Same with the touchscreen but i fixed that by increasing the touchpad sensitivity with a regedit.
My device has reset a few times while I been reading email or texts.

Guys. The whole phone besides the keyboard is touch sensitive. So the whole front keys and touchscreen. Increase sensitivity and it should work fine.

Erm, I'm sorry but that's not right is it. The D-Pad, Send, End, Home and Back buttons are actual buttons as opposed to touch sensitive.
The zoom wheel is obviously a "touch" area too. The issue I am descriping seems to suggest that the switches might be a bit flakey rather than anything else.
no he is right all the buttons are PRESSURE (he said touch) sensitive..when they unvieled the diamond the ceo of htc demonstrated that the keys are pressure sensitie and even the cameria button can SENSE when your finger is approaching to ready the zoom ..here is the youtube vid

Sorry my bad. WM phones used to be called touch sensitve but in reality they're pressure sensitive. The only touch sensitive phones out currently are the iPhones and the Omni I would say.

If the were actual buttons they would be capable of being pushed in which it's not possible to do
Issues:
HTC task man doesnt work properly.
Poor reception
Too many startup apps/services put on by htc to provide touch interface (which i hate)
why on eart you use operaloder on phones stratup just to get 2-3 more seconds fast load time for opera.
i think htc just over done this touch crap.
could anoyone access setupfiles on rom so i can use plain wm6.1

Hang on, you clearly don't own either Touch Pro or a Diamond, the D-Pad, Call, End, Home and Back buttons CAN BE PUSHED IN. They are actual buttons.

No. I'm sure of it. I have demoed both a touch pro and a diamond. I meant that they CANNOT be pushed in as you can on the kaiser. I know this for a fact and on every video you will see that it is mentioned as a pressure sensitive all around except for the keyboard. I'm sure of that. They are not real buttons. I guess you could push it in if it's just a piece of glass and paper underneath the actual pressure sensitive touchpad, but it wouldn't make it real buttons. I know what I'm talking about Unless HTC suddenly decided to make them real buttons which would kill their profits so I'm assuming that they wouldn't do that either. I demoed it about 2-3 weeks ago.

1 - Not had that problem - hopefully that'll go after your next hard reset or ROM update - these damn things always have, and always will behave differently for different people, it seems!
2 - My Back button missed my press once or twice, but I think it's more of a hardware issue than a software issue though (or possibly user error!). I'll tell you now though, hitting the "Right" button on my Diamond was next to impossible. It was extremely stiff, and would eventually register as a press on the "Hang Up" button. Drove me absolutely mental! But I think I was the only Diamond user who had that problem, and my Raphael is fine.
having got one in my hand - they are tactile push bottons - i.e you push them until it clicks before an action happens.

Then I must be crazy. Since all I have to do is touch the button and a action happens. But my pressure threshold is very high.

I'm not going to get into an argument over this but the 9 buttons (Home, Back, Call, End, Up, Down, Left, Right and the centre of the D-Pad) on the face of the Diamond and the Touch Pro are buttons which have a tactile feedback, a press will not register until you "feel" the button pressed. The only thing in that area that is a "touch sensitive" thing is the zoom wheel.
Just because the area looks flush does not mean they are not buttons. There's a single piece of material that covers that area but I can assure you there are individual switches under there that provide a tactile feedback. You HAVE to feel that feedback for the button to do anything, simply touching it will have no effect unless you are using the zoom wheel functionality.
If you believe anything else you are wrong.

Anyway, so you're saying that device you have in your hand right now has no tactile feedback on the front face buttons?

EDIT: Okay. Maybe I'm mistaken. It's only the d-pad that's pressure sensitive. The buttons are tactile even though they feel as if they are pressure sensitive because I don't push into it like I did with the front face buttons on my kaiser.
ah, you've seen the light. The button DOES push in but the panel is one solid "sheet" that covers all the buttons.
The "wheel" is the only touch sensitive bit. The 5 navigation functions of the d-pad (up down left right select) are all tactile buttons that work off little switches.

ATT Fuze has one extra button

Wow, I guess I did not realize that. When I looked at the dummy version of the ATT Fuze at an ATT store yesterday, I noticed a PTT button below the volume controls on the left side. So ATT had HTC add that to the original TouchPro. Hopefully, we will be able to hack that to use for other applications.

AT&T's Official 6.1 ROM for the Tilt had native support for remapping the PTT button, so it would not surprise me if they allow it on the Fuze also.
I'm hoping to remap it to Voice Command, because you could then say "Start Camera", "Start Opera", etc...

My Fuze did not have integrated remapping for the PTT button, however I did manage to remap it eventually with some registry editing. I posted a "how to" on here, and for some reason I think my post was deleted, ask moderation about that one. I had it set to voice command, as that's where I found it most useful.

Nonono, trust me, the touch and press capture on the Fuze works like a dream. The center button is not only a button, it's touch sensitive. When you barely rest your thumb on it, using its touch sensitivity, it auto-focuses... Then you press it in and it captures. One of the most impressive things about the phone IMO, I thought it worked better than any other phone camera trigger I've used.

Really? Even better than the Tilt's? That has a button just like normal digital cameras.
I like having a button I can press whenever to bring up the camera. I am really going to miss all my buttons!
I have internet, messaging, camera, and PTT remapped to be gmail (in java) and if press and hold it opens the comm manager.
From those 4 buttons we now only have 1
Not to mention there no longer is start/OK buttons. No softkey buttons I am fine with as the screen is flush.

How sensitive is the auto-focus? I don't want to rest my thumb on the action button to focus and mistakenly take a snapshot. I hope there's a large enough threshold between pressures so that this isn't an issue.

The buttons on the touch pro are capacitive AND have a physical button. When you touch but don't click, it will focus. When you click, it will take the picture.
Remapping PTT button to start menu
I am new here so I would like to say that it is great to see others with the same interest in the Fuze as well. I just came from a Tilt which I was tremendously happy with.
I already edited the registry so the stupid ptt button does not function. However, I am trying to use it to pull down the start menu and no one is interested so I have no idea what file to rename.
By the way I have gotten the internet sharing to work but I had to get my cousin involved b/c the total commander registry editor did not do it. we had to download PHM RegEdit to get the job done. It was quite easy once that was figured out.

home button not working??

hey guys, i noticed today that sometimes when i press the home button to wake the phone it doesnt react...when i press it again it works normally....this happened to me two times....did anyone see this?
That sounds like a hardware issue. The home button synthesize sensor must not be recognizing the pressure you are applying to the button. Did this happen after a software update?
I'm having the same issue with the home button being super spotty and straight not registering when I push the home button. This is super irritating. I constantly have to press the button and sit like an idiot while it does nothing, then press again.

Hmm that could be a number of things. It could be the hardware. It could be the update that you've installed that is causing wake lock on the device. Since your phone is covered by the one year limited warranty, I think you should contact Samsung and request an exchange/replacement. You can, however, try a factory reset to see if the wake lock problem goes away.
Ok I've been able to replicate the problem 100% if I choose. It is most definitely a hardware problem. If the home button is pressed on the left corner of the button it fully depresses and even clicks. But it doesn't register as so.
Definitely a hardware issue.
My phone had this issue as well where it wouldnt register soft clicks or off center taps and I would regularly get missed presses when using the phone (unless I pressed the button hard). I had verizon send me a replacement. The new phone just showed up, and the home button works almost perfectly. I can still get it to not register if I try really hard to push extremely lightly, on the very edge of the button with my finger nail, but its easily 100x better than the previous one.
The new button is also almost silent while the old one made kind of a cheap plastic click sound like it rattled slightly. It also feels like it requires a tad less force to press than the old button. The old button I could easily recreate the issue 100% of the time by just pressing lightly or pressing off center and it would regularly bother me while using the phone.

Here is a "solution" that has worked for me. My S6 is the Verizon variant, but I think these steps will work on any Service Provider.
Settings > Accessibility > Dexterity and interaction > Assistant menu
From here, toggle the switch to "ON". This will create a hovering circle with a window with four panes inside it. If you interactive with the hovering circle it will open a new window in which you have access to the back and recent apps buttons via an onscreen button.
Not sure what has disabled the hardware buttons, but this should give you access via onscreen software.
I know it's not a true fix, but a work around.
If someone finds a true fix, please post it! But in the meantime ...
I hope this helps!
Hello,
I had a S6 and after 4 days I noticed loose home button: it made noise the tap on it (not press). And also didn't registered clicks on the left side.
I exchange it for another and this one is almost perfect. I notice the left side of the butto to be a bit pressed. Anyway, I suspect a harware issue.
Lollipop 5.1.1

My home button stopped working all together right after an update. How can I remove this issue? Every thing else works perfectly. Please help!
I have issues with my home button as well, it's "loose" and rattling. It has always been a bit loose but the last few months it has gotten worse and worse, it started to require more and more pressure to register the press (way beyond the pressure needed for it to *click*). As of now it does not even work at all, no matter how hard I try pressing it.
I've tried the assistant menu that's mentioned here in the thread but I just find the menu annoying. Instead I have learned to live with it for the time being, I just multitask to instagram or facebook and then spam the back button until I'm back at home.
100% hardware issue.
Apparently it's possible to replace the home button, and there are replacement home button to buy from ebay, but the replacement procedure is ridiculuos. The home button is basically the last thing you will demount from the phone when disassembling it.
I found a temporary fix by dabbing the home button with Isopropyl, this made it like new again. But two days later it's back to as it was before, or maybe even worse.
Annoying as hell, especially since this is a result of poor quality control from Samsung.
Update: Found a nice little app on play store called "button remapper" which lets me rebind the default system buttons without requiring root, i have rebinded the "recent apps" button to act as a home button instead, and a long press opens the regular "recent apps". Seems to be an alright workaround.
Just go to samsung shop, let them see,if no exchange or replace or fix, take their demo phones like s8 (2017) throw on to the floor and then take any phone u want, leave the s6 phone alone (make sure it is factory reseted).Ran away and shout #ALLAHUAKBAR!

Question LE2115_11_F.20: Home button sometimes not working

Hi everyone,
For the past few weeks now, the Home button on my navigation bar has become less responsive, or I should say, sometimes it just doesn't work in some applications, but not always the same applications. Same for the button with the three horizontal bars (I can't remember what it's called, sorry).
The only button that works consistently is the Back button, thankfully, otherwise I'd be stuck on the same app until I turn to dust...
Is it an issue others here have experienced, and if so, how did you solve it if you did?
I seem to remember a setting that would make the touchscreen more or less receptive to inputs, but I can't find it anymore.

I've tried that in the past, on this phone and on others, but I don't like it. Maybe I'm too clumsy, I don't know, but for me it's hit-or-miss more often than not, so I stick to using my three buttons.
Do you know where I can find this setting on touchscreen sensitivity?
Maybe my problem comes from Microsoft Launcher after all, because I've reverted to the system launcher and so far, no worries.
