Need help with unlocking - Moto G7 Power Questions & Answers

I have a Straight Talk Moto G7 Optimo Maxx (which is apparently the same as the G7 Power) that I would like to unlock. I've tried putting a Sprint sim and a Metro sim but it doesn't ask for an unlock code. It just says carrier locked sim. Is there a way I can force it to ask for the unlock code?

did you ever figure this out? i have a straight talk optimo maxx i would like to use on visible but it won't prompt for an unlock code either, just says something like non compatible sim

[Q] Switch to Straight Talk?

Is it possible to switch either of these phones
http://www.amazon.com/Moto-Boost-Mobile-Prepaid-Phone/dp/B00HPP3VW2
http://www.amazon.com/Moto-Verizon-Prepaid-Phone-Only/dp/B00HPP3QD6
to Straight Talk Wireless? I know switching them to Republic or a few other CDMA-based networks won't work, but since Straight Talk has a Bring-Your-Own-Phone option, is there any way to switch it over to them? Rooting/flashing custom stuff is fine, as I will likely flash either CM or AOSP soon after I get it.
Thank you so much!

I read somewhere that flashing to straight talk is illegal and im the one who tested the republic wirless firmware .
use neither
I have Boost and called them yesterday about getting a carrier unlock code for the Moto G and they acted like they had no clue what so ever about what a carrier unlock code is and since motorola told me the phone is locked to boost then using it on ST will probably not happen. Verizon is probably just as bad about locking the phone to their network and refusing to give out the code. Now you may be able to get a unlock key from some one online which was what Motorola also was one of my options. Now with that being said ST does have a GSM version of the Moto G and you may just want to check into that.

Verizon currently has all devices esn on their network kind of blacklisted. If you attempt to flash to page plus you will receive an error saying esn isnt clean. After 6 months of service verizon releases you form the black list, so i guess after 6 months the moto g can be flashed to companies that accept BYOP.

[Q] How to unlocking sim card?

I wanna know how i can do this and im not sure if its unlocking or not
I want to use this phone on straight talk but the phone is meant for Boost Mobile. Is there any way of making it so that I can make it work for straight talk?
Motorola MOTO G XT1031
What im really asking is Do i have to unlock the sim card or unlock the phone itself?
You have to unlock the phone.
You can ask Boost Mobile support for the unlock code. If you say you need it to be unlocked so that you can use a different carrier's sim when you travel outside the country, carriers usually give the code to you as long as you have owned the phone for more than six months. Otherwise, you can google for sites where you can buy the unlock code. Once you have the code, you have to follow instructions specific to your Motorola Moto G to enter it in. I googled and found this:
How to enter the unlock code:
1. Power on your phone with a non-accepted SIM card. A non-accepted SIM card is a SIM from another network provider, other than the network you originally bought your phone from.
2. Wait for your phone to read: “Enter unlock/ subsidy code” or “SIM Network Unlock PIN”.
3. Enter the unlock code
4. Your phone will read: “Unlock Successful”.
Once unlocked, you will be able to use any sim with this phone.
Also, this is not the same as unlocking your bootloader so do not get confused while Googling
i thought the unlock was applied to the Sim card?
No the unlock is applied to a phone.
For example, if you take this sim card and use it with any unlocked phone it will still work. So the sim is not locked, the phone is.

Moto G 2015 (XT 1527) networ sim unlock?

Does anyone know how to do this? have tested other stock version and lineage OS, yet ask me for the pin code.
This is for Argentina Movistar company.
The XT1527 is a Moto E 2nd Generation, but in this case it shouldn't matter...
If your device is carrier locked, meaning you insert a different carrier's SIM and it requests an unlock PIN, it must be unlocked either by paying a service for code (look online) or by the original carrier.
If you mean when you stick the correct SIM in it has a SIM PIN for security, you need to enter the PIN you setup for the SIM or go to your carrier and get the SIM replaced if you don't have it.

USB Sim unlock tutorial

I purchased a Cricket Stylo 6.
Obviously its sim locked to cricket. There is no "Metro" or "T-mobile" unlock app.
Cricket requests a sim unlock code when a foreign sim is placed into it.
There are services online which unlock the sim via USB
Are there any tutorials online for how to do this?
It appears to require a firmware flash of somekind
any thoughts?

Question Moto G Stylus 2021 2115DL (Tracfone) on Metro-by Tmobile

Bought a Moto G Stylus 2021 2115DL Tracfone. I couple people said VoLTE "may not" work on metro-by Tmobile after it is unlocked due to the bootloader being locked. The plan is to have the phone unlocked by Tracfone after the 60 service period then use it on metro. I chatted with Tracfone and they said VoLTE will work on all carriers after being unlocked.
Will this phone work on metro after being unlocked?
Update; Just received the phone and entered the IMEI number on Tmobiile.com which stated the device is fully compatible and not blocked on Tmobile network. That does not mean the device is unlocked for a non Tracfone simm. I have to wait 60 days to get it unlocked.
Hey did you get your tracfone moto unlocked I'm having a hard time with them plus mine has no factory mode and there wanting like $60 to unlock

It unlocked first try following instructions on internet. And it works on metro. Have not played with VoLTE so dont know if that works.
