[Q] How to unlocking sim card? - General Questions and Answers

I wanna know how i can do this and im not sure if its unlocking or not
I want to use this phone on straight talk but the phone is meant for Boost Mobile. Is there any way of making it so that I can make it work for straight talk?
Motorola MOTO G XT1031
What im really asking is Do i have to unlock the sim card or unlock the phone itself?

You have to unlock the phone.
You can ask Boost Mobile support for the unlock code. If you say you need it to be unlocked so that you can use a different carrier's sim when you travel outside the country, carriers usually give the code to you as long as you have owned the phone for more than six months. Otherwise, you can google for sites where you can buy the unlock code. Once you have the code, you have to follow instructions specific to your Motorola Moto G to enter it in. I googled and found this:
How to enter the unlock code:
1. Power on your phone with a non-accepted SIM card. A non-accepted SIM card is a SIM from another network provider, other than the network you originally bought your phone from.
2. Wait for your phone to read: “Enter unlock/ subsidy code” or “SIM Network Unlock PIN”.
3. Enter the unlock code
4. Your phone will read: “Unlock Successful”.
Once unlocked, you will be able to use any sim with this phone.
Also, this is not the same as unlocking your bootloader so do not get confused while Googling

i thought the unlock was applied to the Sim card?

No the unlock is applied to a phone.
For example, if you take this sim card and use it with any unlocked phone it will still work. So the sim is not locked, the phone is.

AT&T Subsidy Unlock directions

I bought the unlock code for my Fuze online. I do not have a non-AT&T sim and do not want to remove and re-insert my SIM.
Does anyone who's previously received an unlock code from AT&T provide me their instructions on how to apply the unlock code?
In my previous devices AT&T provide me a string of numbers/symbols plus the subsidy unlock code.
Thanks for the help.
the first step is to get the unlock code, easiest is to call them and tell them that you are travelling overseas and will need to use a local provider. you'll also need a sim card from another GSM provider, i don't think there is a way around this. you turn off the phone, then insert the other sim card, then start it, the phone will ask you to provide the unlock code.

I got my Fuze from AT&T before they made the mandatory 'data plan on ALL smartphones' went into effect. I bought my unlock code from eBay. I want to enter the code without having to use a non-AT&T sim card. From various boards it seems like taking the sim out, using a different sim, and then going back to the original sim would somehow tag the smartphone as needing the data plan. So bottom line is that I want to avoid AT&T's bullsh*t data requirements/policies.
On my Nokias I would enter a string of symbols with the unlock code on the dialpad and the phone is unlocked.
I wanted to get the instructions from Fuze users who called into AT&T and got the unlock code. What were the AT&T instructions? Would AT&T tell users to insert a non-AT&T sim just to unlock?
This board has been extremely helpful and I appreciate all the help.

AFAIK, the only reason you can need the unlock code, is to use such phone with another carrier, e.g. t-mobile, or overseas. don't see the relationship between the unlock code and att's new policy
anyway, i think you still have to find a sim card from another carrier to apply the unlock code.
Maybe there's a way to unlock the phone with the unlock code without using another sim card, but I've never heard of it. And what's the point, anyway? If you want to unlock the phone, you clearly want to use another sim card (and presumably have/will have one). I really doubt that unlocking that way is going to alert ATT that you don't have a data plan (how will they know when their sim isn't even in the phone??). You're going to put the other sim card in there sooner or later. This sounds like the type of crap that an ATT rep would say.
The only other way to unlock the phone is with Olipro's unlocker. That does not require another sim card, but it does flash/hack the phone.
Yes. I agree that the line you gave would be AT&T-ish. I'm on the fence right now about switching away from AT&T but have a decent deal via a family plan. I wanted to unlock my Fuze just in case that day came.
Just find someone who's on t-mobile, borrow their card, and get it over with. I unlocked my fuze (non-contract variety) the day I got it and have used it on t-mobile (cheapo pre-paid card) ever since. I also have an Orange UK card that I've used a couple times. ATT hasn't called me yet to tell me I need a data plan, lol.

Other carrier SIM with rooted D850?

Is it possible to use other carrier SIM cards with an unlocked D850? I am currently traveling and don't want to pay the usury ATT rates on international data and voice. Bought a SIM from a local carrier but am getting asked for SIM network unlock code. I am assuming that until the bootloader is unlocked there is nothing that can be done about this.
Bootloader lock has nothing to do with sim lock or network lock. In order to sim unlock your device you could go ebay and search after lg g3 unlock code, follow the instructions provided and then you could use any sim, any network you want with your device.
Yup, unlocked for use on other networks and an unlocked bootloader are two completely separate things.
If you need an unlock code, I don't have personal experience, but I have friends who have reported success with imei-unlocker.com

Help: Can not unlock SIMLOCK TMobile Z3

I have TMobile Z3 with SIMLOCK. But when insert international sim, the phone did not pop up table to insert the code.

Need a t-mobile sim to permanently sim unlock it. Did you pay full price for phone? Or are you on contract still?
First of all please hide your IMEI Number from Picture by paint on it
It easy that some people can use this IMEI for their own benefits. which is not good

Already test with TMobile sim but it dod not work. I bought phone and unlock cofe separately.
You can't, it needs to be done over the air, for me they unlocked it when I called, as the app did not work. They will only unlock it if you are a customer. That too after 40 days of service using the device. Only option for you is to give it to a TMO customer for use temporarily.
After searching on google, I found instruction as below:
- unlock bootloader
- root it
- push simunlockapp.apk to internal memory and restart, it will pop up table for unlock code.
But now I stuck at bootloader...

Unlocking my ZTE MF920W+

I have ZTE MF920W+ LTE Ufi modem, I had been trying to unlock it but all effort was futile, I tried all forums but haven't met anything similar at all. Without unlocking it, I'm unable to change from 4G, 3G nor Edge but all on automatic. I tried using the unlock code but realized it accepts 16 codes and not 12, a friend tried buying the code for me but none of the codes worked. Please help ASAP.

Hello, I am currently connected to the web using a AT&T ZTE MF923 that I bought brand new from Best Buy. The device was considered GoPhone which is a prepay. I did not ever activate the device with AT&T, I immediately requested the unlock code. The response I got was *we cannot provide you with the unlock code for this device because it has been flagged as fraudulent. I assumed that the reason this happened was that the device came in a box IMEI id printed next to the product barcode on the outside of the package for anyone to see. AT&T does not want people to but these things then unlock them without opening the package and then sell them online as "unlocked device." So I went to unlockbase.com and paid 5 dollars for them to send me a code. I paid right before bed and woke up and plugged the code in before I had to leave for work. Now my ZTE MF923 Hotspot device works on Project Fi with a Data-only Sim I had ordered from project fi.
How to unlock:
You cannot unlock the device it's self using it's touch screen interface. You must do 2 things to get unlocking to work.
1. You must have a working SIM card from another Carrier. You can't activate the SIM on this device AS you try to unlock. Ask a friend to borrow their SIM card. This device uses Micro SIM so I had to have a Nano-SIM to Micro-SIM adapter. As long as the SIM you insert is activated on a completely different carrier from the one the device is locked to (mine was ATT so I put my Project Fi phone-plan SIM into it). Insert your SIM.
2. Once you have inserted your sim you need to connect to a computer with a USB cable. Allow any drivers to install automatically.
3. Open your web browser and visit 192.168.1.1
When you plug in via USB it should kick you offline from whatever other internet you have set up. When you visit this page, this is the device setup page AND the router settings page. Once you access the HotSpot settings page WITH a SIM from a different carrier..... You get promoet to type in your unlock code. Mine unlocked on the first try and now works well!!!!!

Sorry for the delayed response.
To receive the unlock code for this device, I first tried requesting it dro. ATT and technically they were supposed to give it to me but they did not. There is some type of rule they have that states that if you buy a prepaid device for AT&T you must have the device in service for a minimum of 12 months before they will let you have an unlock code. But they're supposed to be a loophole in that if you never actually activated the device with AT&T, they're supposed to let you have the unlock code. However they did not. I actually purchased this device with the intention of unlocking it. I never did activate it......so
I went to one of those large carrier unlock websites who will sell you the code for about $5. This does work. There are quite a few of those companies out there who do that so I can't even remember who it was that I went through. just make sure that you research the company you're buying from and you'll have success.
I have successfully unlocked this device for unlock contact me my fb id

Sim unlocked or not?

I've got a p40 pro (ELS-NX9) dual sim. I bought it off ebay reseller as sim unlocked and have used it on EE for over a year.
I am changing to the 3 network and their sim doesnt work - the phone asks for a sim unlock code. I rang EE and asked for a code to sim unlock, they said it would take a couple of days.
Today I got a message from them saying it is sim unlocked already.
Any ideas why the 3 sim doesnt work? Is there a way I can check?
I have both sims in the phone and tried them in opposite sides of the sim holder. The sim settings are fine. I have put google on it - would this make a difference? I dont want to go through the hassle of backing up everything again!!

”The SIM card unlock code, is the PIN number that came by default on your SIM card or the SIM card PIN that you set yourself. The purpose of having a SIM PIN is if someone found your SIM card they would not be able to make a call or access the info on it without first entering your SIM card PIN number”
Should be written on the SIM- big sim holder Card. ( default could be 1234 or 0000)

So why does my original EE sim work with no pin? The 3 sim is brand new and has no service, it arrived pre activated by 3, all I had to do is put it in the phone. I guess I should say network unlock instead of sim unlock?

A brand new sim come with the PIN written as on image, by default. You can remove it, change it, but first of all you need to provide the PIN code on the first connection to have access on it. It doesn't care if it has service or not.
It is better to try that SIM card in other phone. Maybe this other phone will provide you the same request.
Also you can ask a SIM (3 network) from a friend that for sure has the PIN inactive to see if it works on your phone.

Not in this case, the sim is pre-activated. It is a carrier code that is needed
I understand. It can be unlocked. I think it is not for free, but you will find solutions on-line or in service (not Huawei service).

According to EE the phone is unlocked, according to 3 it isn't blacklisted, waiting for a new sim now to try again.
Ifr it is locked, it will be the first P40 Pro locked that I have ever heard.
I've had a reply from Huawei, It was sold to EE locked to their network. According to EE it is unlocked lol! Back to EE I go I guess
