I've got a p40 pro (ELS-NX9) dual sim. I bought it off ebay reseller as sim unlocked and have used it on EE for over a year.
I am changing to the 3 network and their sim doesnt work - the phone asks for a sim unlock code. I rang EE and asked for a code to sim unlock, they said it would take a couple of days.
Today I got a message from them saying it is sim unlocked already.
Any ideas why the 3 sim doesnt work? Is there a way I can check?
I have both sims in the phone and tried them in opposite sides of the sim holder. The sim settings are fine. I have put google on it - would this make a difference? I dont want to go through the hassle of backing up everything again!!

”The SIM card unlock code, is the PIN number that came by default on your SIM card or the SIM card PIN that you set yourself. The purpose of having a SIM PIN is if someone found your SIM card they would not be able to make a call or access the info on it without first entering your SIM card PIN number”
Should be written on the SIM- big sim holder Card. ( default could be 1234 or 0000)

So why does my original EE sim work with no pin? The 3 sim is brand new and has no service, it arrived pre activated by 3, all I had to do is put it in the phone. I guess I should say network unlock instead of sim unlock?

A brand new sim come with the PIN written as on image, by default. You can remove it, change it, but first of all you need to provide the PIN code on the first connection to have access on it. It doesn't care if it has service or not.
It is better to try that SIM card in other phone. Maybe this other phone will provide you the same request.
Also you can ask a SIM (3 network) from a friend that for sure has the PIN inactive to see if it works on your phone.

Not in this case, the sim is pre-activated. It is a carrier code that is needed
I understand. It can be unlocked. I think it is not for free, but you will find solutions on-line or in service (not Huawei service).

According to EE the phone is unlocked, according to 3 it isn't blacklisted, waiting for a new sim now to try again.
Ifr it is locked, it will be the first P40 Pro locked that I have ever heard.
I've had a reply from Huawei, It was sold to EE locked to their network. According to EE it is unlocked lol! Back to EE I go I guess

hey guys.. i brought my att skyrocket to seoul so i could use a prepaid sim card. my assistant got a sk telecom prepaid sim card for my phone and inserted in my phone and upon booting up, it's asking for the sim network pin code. the card that the sim card came with has a pin code and a puk code on it which none of it works. i've already chatted with at&t and they told me the code has nothing to do with at&t and the pin code is for the prepaid card ive put in. anyone know what i'm doing wrong? is it be possible that it's because its a weekend and that monday might start working?
thanks in advance

Go to that thread, can be unlocked for free.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727
Ok so I am currently staying in Russia. And do recently I bought an Hox+ from eBay and it was shipped here. Now the guy never had a problem with it because it is newly bought. So it was shipped to me in the condition he sent it. Now I bought a factory unlock key and it is in my email.
So I went and cut my normal SIM card into a micro SIM card and put it in the phone but even when I restart the phone it just says No SIM Card. Not as an error I suppose.
I tried using a very old ATT SIM I had (converted to Micro SIM) but the phone didn't read it either. So I don't know what the problem is. My old phone reads my newly cut micro SIM but my phone doesn't. And I am thinking maybe because the att SIM is so many years old the phone won't see it, and maybe the phone won't see the Russian SIM card either, so my last option I suppose it to get a proper micro SIM from MTS.
What are your ideas? Also can I make the SIM unlock code show up on the screen using a secret code? You know like when people do that global phone code or *#06# code? My phone was also bootloader unlocked, relocked and os was restored too.

You're in the wrong forum my friend, this is the One XL forum.
I wanna know how i can do this and im not sure if its unlocking or not
I want to use this phone on straight talk but the phone is meant for Boost Mobile. Is there any way of making it so that I can make it work for straight talk?
Motorola MOTO G XT1031
What im really asking is Do i have to unlock the sim card or unlock the phone itself?
You have to unlock the phone.
You can ask Boost Mobile support for the unlock code. If you say you need it to be unlocked so that you can use a different carrier's sim when you travel outside the country, carriers usually give the code to you as long as you have owned the phone for more than six months. Otherwise, you can google for sites where you can buy the unlock code. Once you have the code, you have to follow instructions specific to your Motorola Moto G to enter it in. I googled and found this:
How to enter the unlock code:
1. Power on your phone with a non-accepted SIM card. A non-accepted SIM card is a SIM from another network provider, other than the network you originally bought your phone from.
2. Wait for your phone to read: “Enter unlock/ subsidy code” or “SIM Network Unlock PIN”.
3. Enter the unlock code
4. Your phone will read: “Unlock Successful”.
Once unlocked, you will be able to use any sim with this phone.
Also, this is not the same as unlocking your bootloader so do not get confused while Googling
i thought the unlock was applied to the Sim card?
No the unlock is applied to a phone.
For example, if you take this sim card and use it with any unlocked phone it will still work. So the sim is not locked, the phone is.

Hello everyone,
This is my first post I am stumped and need your help. I have a Samsung s6 (t-mobile 920t), my phone came with the t-mobile loaded app which allows the phone to be unlocked via t-mobile.
I know under the factory rom ( I have marshmallow 6.0.1) a sim unlock code is no good as there is no prompt for the code to be entered.... So, I rooted and installed 2 different roms: (carHDrom v.25-4dpJ2 and also XtreStoLite-ROM-3.3.1-DPDP) both roms rune beautifully. I AM PROMPTED the sim unlock screen, however I in put the sim unlock code which I bought yesterday via ebay and I get a error message saying " sim network unlock request unsuccessful". I bought this phone used it works fine on t-mobile. I am putting my At&t sim card in it, my sim card works perfectly in my rooted s5 from t-mobile however that phone gave me the option to put in a sim unlock code. The only thing is my at&t sim card was cut by me asit was a larger sim card to fit my s5, upon entering it into the s6 it is a bit smaller but still the phone detects a sim card is inside.
I have been racking my brain trying to figure out what the issue, is and I dont know what to do, I am reaching out to everyone for help.

Did you ever figure your problem out
Hi everyone
I’m kinda puzzled with this note 8 and need some advice. Recently got a note 8 from AT&T and since I was traveling I had it unlocked to use by a third party company ( since att doesn’t unlock until Device payment is complete)
I got the code, unlocked the phone successfully. Before I left USA I put a working T-Mobile sim to test if connectivity, no luck, it doesn’t work, I tried a Verizon sim, nothing works....
Note... this T-Mobile sim and Verizon sim if I put it on a different device it will work...
any reason why this is happening

The phone is not unlocked. Seems like an error happened when you got the unlock code. I'd try again.
Did you use this device on the att network? I mean, do you have it activated?
If you unlocked it by codes and the message after inserting the code is something like "unlock successfull" then your device must accept other GSM SIM cards.
Also, I would recommend you place a 5 min call with your device, with the att sim card and then insert again the tmob card.
What is the message when you insert the tmobile card in this device?
I did the same thing by using a Tmobile SIM during the unlocking process, and it worked on TMobile right after I unlocked it. It sounded like you did not unlock it using a different network SIM but using some other method. I am not sure if that mattered or not.
I then traveled to Asia, and I bought and used a local SIM card with zero issues. The 4G LTE was faster in that country than AT&T... LOL
