Wifi problems with oneplus 6? - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

Hi,
at the Moment i have the oneplus 3 but i have some wifi problems. Sometimes the wifi disconnect when the screen is off or it isn't auto connect when i'm at home. I have found other threads from users reporting the same problems. Some reported this is because of the poor wifi chipset build in the op3.
Has the oneplus 6 the same problems? I want to use it with LineageOS.

Might not be related, but I had a weird issue with an Asus router. My OnePlus 6 would force the router to reboot once in a while when connecting . You can find people asking questions on reddit as well. The solution was to go to LAN -> Switch Control and set Nat Acceleration to Disable. Not sure if it is a OnePlus 6 problem or Asus router problem.
Other than that - smooth sailing, had no issues.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium WiFi issue

Is anyone here also experiencing the same problem with me?
I found that from time to time, my XZ Premium losses WiFi connection and can't find any hotspot until I turn on then turn off airplane mode, or just restart.
Here are the screenshots form my S7 edge (SM-G935F) and XZ Premium, they were next to each other and very close to the router.
Please help me, thank you.

are you using 5G? if you are, you need to update the wifi channel and band through your router settings. that's what i did with mine and now i don't have that intermittent wifi connection anymore.

Sure, thanks, I will give a try, and can you please tell me which channel and band should I use?
Anyone found a solution for this?
Wifi was spotty before the Android 8 update but now it's almost unusable. Every now and again it will just stop showing wifi connections, toggling wifi on and off might show a connection or 2 but it will either disappear or just say "Disabled" when trying to connect to it. Reboot solves it for a little while.
Usually use 2.4Ghz wifi with a variety of router brands.

Happens here on Android 8 as well, quite annoying to be honest. Sometimes drops the connection for no reason, and then when I click on WiFi settings, it doesn't show any connections till I turn WiFi on and off and even then it'll only show 1 SSID, turning it off for a while longer and then turning it back on brings back the rest of them and then it'll connect, but it's stupid how I have to keep doing this every few hours.
I set my 2.4 and 5 GHz bands to different names and join only the 5 GHz, and I don't get drops. On Oreo rooted.
i have xperia xz premium with Oreo 8.0 I encounter the same problems when I'm connected to my wifi, suddenly the data connection is blocked, and when this happens I have to turn off and on the wifi symbol to restore the connection. I do not understand why this happens. My phone is updated to the 47.1.A.5.51 system with November google patches. My modem is Billion Bipac 7800N
So it seems to be a common issue, anyone know if Sony is aware of it?
Where can we complain? It's their damn top of the range phone and it's most basic function isn't working right.

Knock yourself out. I've had more than one device with the Snapdragon 835 behave in this way, so I think it's a chipset issue.

Do a Google search for WiFi and Oreo and you will see that this is affecting multiple cell phones.
Do they all have the 835 chip in them???
I think it is an Oreo issue.
I have no such problems and I have Oreo and the 835.
Try disabling IPv6 on your router.
This is still OS/firmware issue but this temporally fix the issue

I found the solution:
My network works with two devices:
1 ZTE Router (2.4GHz)
1 D-LINK Repeater (2.4GHz)
In the router my XZ Premium works nicely, in the repeater happen exactly what you said, Connect apperars "no internet" after 1 second and wifi on Smartphone is automatically disabled or wifi stay enabled, but says "disabled" on network.
So.. I checked the wlan settings of the two devices in my network exhaustively item by item and I changed the devices settings about 20 times, I and I found that none of the settings matters (wpa or wep, 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz, Bandwidth 20Mhz or 40Mhz, type of network b / g / n, nor channel 1 to 13) just ignore this.
What REALLY MATTERS is a option in the advanced wlan settings, called "Fragment Threshold" this value was at 500, I changed it to the maximum (2346) and my XZ Premium started the connection instantly. Explaining: increasing this value defined that the packet can be up to 2346 bytes before being fragmented, so we deactivate packet fragmentation, reducing overhead and ensuring the best transmission rate possible, so this option determines the size of the frame.
Put simply: Go to advanced Wlan settings, locate "Fragment Threshold" and change to the highest possible value. That worked for me =)
worked for me
1- turn off wifi in being wifi settings ie where you view your wifi networks
2- select "scanning settings". it will show once you have turned your wifi off
3- turn off wifi and bluetooth scanning
4- go back turn wifi back on and enjoy

It did not work for me, unfortunately.
I know I am reactivating this thread after nearly 3 years of the last post but did anyone find any effective solution to the Wifi issue?

Honor6X (GR5 2017) wifi problem

Hi,
I bought 2 months ago a Bll-l22 (BLN-AL30) build BLL-L22C636B384 and everything went fine... until I use wifi sharing (I use it all day long in my work). Back to my house, I experienced a really slow wifi connection, in download only : about 0,9Mbps in download max vs 10Mbps in upload (about 100Mbps up/down with my surface pro on the 5GHz channel). I can't even stream a low-res video from my NAS to my phone in these conditions.
The seller sent me another BLL-LL22 (BLN-TL10) but I experienced the same problem. Since it doesn't to be a problem from my wifi router (no pb with others wifi devices) nor a hardware (same pb on 2 differents devices), I wondered if it's a software bug : I resetted my 2 phones to factory settings and both recovered a full working wifi... until I use wifi sharing with them.
Does somebody experienced the same problem, and if it exists, is there a custom rom with full working stuffs for this phone ?
Thanks !
Same wifi problem here

Question Problem with Video Calling using Bluetooth Earbuds on Front Camera on 2.4 GHz Wifi

I am facing a strange problem with S22 Ultra Indian Model. I am on the latest available update.
Whenever I am connected to 2.4GHz Wifi and Bluetooth earbuds (Tried one from RealMe and Sony), and try to make a video call using any app (Tried with Whatsapp, Instagram, and Zoom), after 10 or 15 seconds, the Internet would stop working.
It works fine on 5 GHz wifi. Also, it works fine when using Back Camera. It also works fine on a Phone Speaker without earbuds.
I have tried changing the channel and width of the wifi router, doesn't solve the problem.
It is not due to Frequency overlap between wifi 2.4 and Bluetooth, because the back camera works completely fine with the same settings.
It is not any particular application bug, as the internet of the whole device goes to limited connection.
Can anyone please try to replicate the same issue?
Also, it would be really helpful if someone can suggest a solution.
Thank you in advance!
Anyone facing the same issue ??
I tried to replicate this, but don't get the same issue. I used my samsung buds pro....I did notice that when I'm on 5ghz and move away from the coverage of 5ghz and the phone goes to 2.4ghz, them I loose temporary connection....It reconnects without any issues, but it takes +- 10 seconds...there is no smooth transition between the frequencies....Also if I'm on 2.4ghz and move into 5ghz area it doesn't jump to the 5ghz, it will stay on 2.4ghz
I tested for you..

Question WIFI connection lag

Anyone encounter the wifi lag when connected to the wifi? Mine is worst. Sometimes it got disconnected but when its not the speed is super slow. It's not my wifi problem as all my other devices are working correctly.
I already reset the network settings on the mobile, reset the wifi connection, forget the wifi then connect it again but still the same problem persists.
yes, same here on my huawei P50 Pro ( Snapdragon ) .... I will go to Huawei Customer Service as soon as possible because its not acceptable problem !! also there is a heating issue while normal usage !

Question I need to enable 5ghz hotspot in google pixel 7 pro

Hello. I'm switching from an iPhone, on which I was able to share my 5G mobile connection to my laptop at 5ghz, which gave me 350mbps, however my new Pixel 7 pro is only offering 2.4ghz band, despite disabling "extend compatibility", I've read that this "feature" is new since Android 13.
How can I "fix" this "feature"? The hotspot is my only way to get internet, and 90mbps is not good.
Thanks
5G for Hotspot works just fine on T-Mobile. Connects to my Laptop and have highs in 270-290 Mbps in house on the 5Ghz band. Im using a Macbook Pro.
make sure "ensure maximum compatibility" is turned off on the hotspot settings (thought there was a different way to do this before)
i never had "maximun compatibility" enabled, i also tried disabling 2.4ghz on my laptop device manager, but then the phone doesn't show on the wifi list, how can i fix this?

maybe the laptop only support 2.4ghz to android phones might need to update the drivers or firmware for your laptop wifi to support 5G with pixel 7
with my iphone 13 i get 5ghz hotspot (and my computer gets 350mbps from 5G)

Hi, hotspots on pixels work "smart". The hotspot is 5GHz, but as you move your phone further away from the connected device, it drops to 2.4GHz.... so try sticking your phone next to the computer/laptop, then turn on the hotspot. Should be 5GHz.
thanks for the advice @iplux , but i keep the phone a few milimeters from my computer all the time, so that's not the issue
