LG G Stylo (LS770) carrier unlock? I have MSL. - General Questions and Answers

My phone is broken and all I have is this Boost Mobile LG G Stylo (LS770). I poured through the logs from ADB and eventually got the MSL. I know it works because it lets me access menus now that previously prompted me for a code. Problem is when I put another carriers SIM in it it just says 'Invalid SIM'. I can't figure out for the life of me where to enter the MSL for carrier unlocking. Everything I've read says you need the MSL for unlocking. I was messing around with this Kyocera Kona flip-phone and I got the MSL for that too, but with that phone you can do ##THEMSLCODE# and it will let you edit MDN / MSID. Both the Kyocera and the LG are locked to Boost Mobile and I don't have Boost Mobile anymore. If anyone could point me in the right direction of what carrier unlocking consists of I'd be really appreciative. I am not 100% clear on exactly how mobile networks authenticate or how you tell them to try to communicate with one carrier's network over another.
Any help would be awesome because if I can't get either of these to work in the next week or so I am going to lose my service.
Also, what exactly does DIAG mode do?

Need help making my phone work with MetroPCS [RESOLVED]

I paid a non-corporate MetroPCS store to flash 4 Sprint CDMA Hero's to MetroPCS and add the ESN's into the system, I walked out with 4 working phones.
After having the phones for a while, I was playing around with one of them as I was learning how to install ROM's and such and in the process the phone somehow got set back to its like new state.. as in original phone number, all Metro info was gone, including MMS and Internet. If I tried to place a call I got the standard Sprint "your account can not be validated" recording.
After playing around for a couple of days I can place a call to 611 (Metro CS) and it recognizes my phone and my account, however that's the only number I can call. If I try to call a regular number I get a strange recording asking me if I want to place a collect call.
I know in order to get my phone working I need the following information:
SID/NID pair I have the correct information entered into the phone
MDN/MIN pair <------ I suspect this is where my problem is.
I called Metro to get my MIN, its not the same as my phone number and its not the original phone number. I cannot figure out the correct place to enter this information.
I have tried in CDMA workshop, QPST tools and DFS CDMA tools. These programs can be very confusing with MIN's and True MIN's, the list goes on.
I have flashed my phone to and old stock Sprint 2.1 ROM (NFX) so that I could enter the programming codes and such. Link to the ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849024
I am only concerned with getting voice working for now, I might be able to do the rest on my own.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Edited to add that I do have a MetroPCS prl file installed.
Edit 2 to add that this cant be done. When the phone was originally flashed the guy didnt use my phones MEID for whatever reason.. therefore the phone is not in the MetroPCS system. I tried to get the info from MetroPCS but no dice.
I will not go back to the same place to get it fixed.

[Q] LG Spectrum verizone vs920 unlock ???

I have Lg spectrum verizone i want to unlock or Register on Reliance Cdma IN INDIA ,, please help me :crying::crying:
To unlock CDMA phones you'll need to use a software to do so. Unlocking companies like ourselves that operate online can't do it, so you'll need to take the phone to a local unlocking store who would be able to help.
Alternatively, someone more advanced with their rooting knowledge may have a method that works.
Any other way to activate my phone on other Network ?????
Like Meid registration ??
Mafter dailing *228 phone goes on activation program mode.. after that they said " your phone could not be activated"
How do you even unlock this phone? I've been searching the internet for weeks and can't even find a way to enter an unlock code. You can't dial anything (codes or otherwise) without it saying "emergency calls only." Is there a service menu or a hidden menu where one can enter an unlock code? Is there a utility that can do this? Please help thanks!

It is because you have AT&T provider ROM. These bastards remove and disable many stuff. You just dont have your new mobile operator settings on phone. But unlock without these you can this way:
- Please insert an accepted simcard
-Enter the following sequence on dialpad: 2945#*850# or 2945#*855#. <- 850 or 855 is your phone model number
-A hidden menu should appear
- In the network part please input the NCK code provided by our website.
-The phone is unlocked
Now go to Settings -> (More ...) -> Mobile networks -> Access point names
On right top corner click to three dots and click New APN
Insert needed settings for your operator and again click to right top corner to three dots -> Save
Reboot and you online
This phone is from Verizon usa
Boss when I put the code you said to prompt me for unlock code tried alot but doesn't ask when I insert Verizon sim saying your phone is activating wait and after some time getting message we r sorry we r unable to activate your phone I brought it from usa lately I'm in uk

How do I get my MSL without calling Sprint?

I finally purchased a used Sprint S5 recently. My plan is to put the phone on the Boost Mobile Network. Boost Mobile stores are able to unlock my phone to Boost network, HOWEVER the MSL is needed. Well I'm sure you already know, Sprint is giving me a difficult time. A Sprint CS says the phone's ESN is clear to activate on Sprint, however due to "the way it was purchased" they could not unlock the phone (or give me the MSL) for other carriers. What do I do?

On way is to activate it on someone elses account for just 5 minutes or so. Will give you chance to make sure it works. Then reactive their own phone and you're done. Now have your friend check his email and they will have an email from sprint thanking them for activating the new phone. Look at the email.. It will show some of the device specifics like model number, phone number and also an activation code. The activation code is actually your msl. It's a standard email from Sprint whenever you activate or reactivate a phone from your PC.
So find a friend with a Sprint phone and make sure the account is in his (or her) name. Have them log into their Sprint account on a PC and once they're logged in, scroll down to the "About My Devices" section. In this section you will see is a dropdown box that says "manage my devices". Click the down arrow in the box and choose, "activate new phone". It will take to you to a very straight forward wizard to guide you thru it. Choose no to all the options that they offer and when you get to the part of the activation about resetting the phone prior to activation, don't worry about it. Just click thru the steps of demo window that pops up then close that window after the demo is done. Once you finish the demo and close the pop up window you can continue. Follow the prompts until you click the activate button and turn off the phones as per the message that pops up. When you turn on your phone it will be activated with a voice and data signal. The whole process takes less than 5 minutes. Now check your friends email for your msl and you're done. Then do the same thing again but choose your friends phone to activate (as the new phone). Also note you will need the id numbers under the battery or have them ahead of time.

Thank you for the response I appreciate it. I will definitely consider. Is there any other method besides one mentioned above? I was thinking more along the lines of an apk like "Get MSL" to acquire the lock code. I've been utilizing the search function on both XDA and Google, but it seems that any method using an APK or program is defunct due to the new Software upgrade. Does anyone know of any other way?
Google GTv3.1.5.apk and GTUpdate2_v3.1.8.apk by idone.apps . The "GT" stands for Galaxy Tools; It will internationally unlock you sim as well as give you your MSL, enable hotspot etc... I beleive it was taken off google play, just google the 2 apk files and you'll find them.

XT1548 Can't change SIM

I have a Moto G XT1548 that I want to use with Mint Sim. When I insert the Mint Sim card, I'm not prompted to enter an unlock code - I received a CDMA unlock code from an online service.
I did a lot of searching, but nothing seems to be working for me. I can't even seem to get the msl/spc code for this phone so I can unlock the ##DATA# menu.
Any advice?
I had no problems unlocking the bootloader and installing lineage os 7.1.x. I'm currently back to running the stock osprey sprint 6.0.1.
Thanks.
Anyone?
No advice from anyone here?
I'm currently trying to brute force the ##MSL#. At max, it would take ~30 days.
There currently is no way to unlock a Sprint device without a Sprint SIM unlock code.
Getting your Master Subsidy Unlock code doesn't help on this device, you can't unlock it from there either. In Sprint devices since February 2015, DSU and MSU are two distinctly different things.
Most (not all) online unlock code providers are just scams, avoid them if possible unless they offer guaranteed refunds.
My understanding is that I need the msl so I can set a nv param which will enable the sim card unlock so I can use the code that I bought.
Does this make sense?
If not, what can I do with the phone?

I am not familiar with what your trying to do... but there should be no need to do any "pre-unlocking" in order to use a DSU (Domestic SIM Unlock) code on a Sprint device, but I am not the expert in Sprint either, but @MotoJunkie01 is kind of our resident Sprint guru (well, he is pretty good with all things Sprint anyway) might have some insight here.
I would advise 4 possibilities, and the first depends on a number of factors I have no idea about.
1) Get a friend who has a Sprint post paid service, and has for over a year continuously, to put their SIM in the device and use it for a couple days... then request an official unlock code. This requires that you have a friend you trust with Sprint service and that Sprint will unlock for it's customer's like AT&T (I can unlock any AT&T device with a simple web page submission since I have been a customer for some time). Then it will be GSM unlocked in the US.
2) Sell/give/trade it to someone who has Sprint service
3) Switch your service to Sprint or one of it's MVNO's
4) Use it as a WiFi only media device

I agree 100% with @acejavelin's analysis of your options. There is no known user-end mod or hack with which to perform a Domestic SIM Unlock of the xt1548. So the options he outlined are your only viable choices.
There are some Chinese hackers who have claims of being able to perform a DSU on the xt1548. However, their method has never been proven, nor have their claims been substantively backed up.
If I were to call up Sprint and ask for the MSL, they would give me a 6 digit number, right? ##MSL#?

Yes. I have MSL/SPN numbers on all 3 of my xt1548 devices. Trust me, you can edit all you want with the MSL and you still won't SIM Unlock it. These devices are network locked via encryption in the partition index (/hob, /dhob, /pds). As of now, nobody has figured out a way to decrypt these network restrictions.
The menu used to edit with the MSL on the xt1548 is ##DATA#. You can edit a lot of parameters on this device with the MSL, but unfortunately DSU isn't an option. There are MSL mods to stop data throttling on plans with limited high speed data, for example.

Is your xt1548 Sprint, or one of its MVNOs like Virgin, Boost, FreedomPop, etc? If you have Virgin or Boost, their respective websites will give you the MSL numbers via the activation page. Once you enter your IMEI (MEID Hex), and prompt for activation, you can select "Pay Later with a Refill Card." Your device will be tentatively activated, a phone number assigned, and the MSL code will also be displayed under the "Activation Status" heading. I'm not certain if the same holds true for Sprint prepaid on their website, but it's a possibility.

Yes. This worked. I now have the MSL code.

You can pull some nice mods with the MSL, like hard coding APN settings, network configs, reverse tunneling toggle, bypassing data throttling, etc. Unfortunately, however, due to the encrypted network restrictions, no MSL mods will enable the device to recognize a GSM SIM card.
