Hi. I have recently rooted my Sony Xperia XZ(F8331) successfully on Android Oreo build 41.3.A.2.157.
What I would like to know is if I update the software to the latest build for example to 41.3.A.2.171 will my phone 'brick' or will the 'root' be removed?
Thank you
will remove

Hey there!
Yesterday I rooted my SE Xperia Pro MK16i according to the tutorial mentioned here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1865796
Now I have a root access but my kernel/rom doesn't support overclocking. Some data of my phone:
Android Version: 4.0.4
Baseband-Version: 8x55A-AAAABQOAZM-203028G-77
Kernel-Version: 2.6.32.9-perf
Build: 4.1.B.0.587
Is it possible to install a custom ROM like Cyanogen Mod 9 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445819 on my phone? What do I have to pay attention for?`
Thanks for your replies
How did you manage to root?

This is not an answer to your question. (Sorry about that) In fact, I wanted to ask you a question. I have the same mobile with the same kernel build but I couldn't manage to root. I get stuck when I have to root using DoomLord's method. I am able to flash the 562 kernel but, my phone doesn't display anything after that. (The instructions say its normal as there is a kernel mismatch) but the batch file is not able to root as after flashing the "USB debugging" and "Unknown sources" is turned off by default. And I can't turn it on as my screen won't display anything. Any suggestions?

It is possible, you have to upgrade to ICS first, or if you like GB you can install Cyanogen Mod 7.

I currently have android 4.1.2(jelly bean) on my sony xperia j st26i. I want to root the phone and install cyanogenmod 10. But different sources in internet say that sony xperia j officially does not support cyanogenmod 10. Does this mean it will brick the phone if i try to flash the stock ROM with cyanogenmod 10? Also I want to know whether i will get improved perfomance if cyanogenmod 10 is installed. Any help is appreciated.
Kernel version 3.4.0
Build number 11.2.A.0.31

Up to which version of Android operating system can the Xperia Z3 be updated, currently with Marshmallow 6.0.1 unrooted, keeping it running at 100% and without having problems of any sort?
And where can I find a good 'guide' to follow in order to be able to make this update?

There is a ROM with Android 8.1
It's quite stable, lacking video recording
Hold on to marshmallow currently until the creation of a stable rom (fully functional)
