I currently have android 4.1.2(jelly bean) on my sony xperia j st26i. I want to root the phone and install cyanogenmod 10. But different sources in internet say that sony xperia j officially does not support cyanogenmod 10. Does this mean it will brick the phone if i try to flash the stock ROM with cyanogenmod 10? Also I want to know whether i will get improved perfomance if cyanogenmod 10 is installed. Any help is appreciated.
Kernel version 3.4.0
Build number 11.2.A.0.31

Why not.. But have patience..not even a official build is out.. just dev preview..
After official cm will be out..n some1 MST port it
Official? Of course not, Jellybean 4.2.2 is the last and final update that Sony released for our device.
Unofficial? It's a possibility, but only time will tell. Considering 5.0 isn't even released yet, I'd say we still have to wait some more to see if custom Lollipop roms will be available for Xperia L
I'd say there's a high chance of about 95+%that Xperia L would get Android L but I'm not sure if all the bugs would be addressed.
The device tree for Xperia L is complete by varun.chitre15 and all you'd need to do as a developer would be merge sources once it is out. I'm not sure about blobs but I think everything should work just fine !
Sony Mobile is committed to supporting the open developer community, and one way to show this is by publishing parts of our code as well as selected tools developed by our internal developers.
For some of the Xperia™ devices, we provide Android™ Open Source Project (AOSP) device configurations on GitHub. This means that the software will be open for you as a developer to use and contribute to. This is a way for us to support the open Android community, and it is also a tool for us to facilitate and verify contributions to AOSP.
If you want to build AOSP for your unlocked Xperia device, you find all the resources you need in the sections below.

@up Becouse AOSP never'd be published into zip package.
@2up Wait for Sony. When they'll publish camera drivers for AOSP, then it'll be working.
They already did.

Be aware that this are alpha builds mainly for bugfiying.
Daily driver ready stuff should be there until OEMv5.

A bird did twitter November
But Android 10 has bugs which needs to get fixed.
Don't know if the QM of Sony will allow a too early release.
Hi. I have recently rooted my Sony Xperia XZ(F8331) successfully on Android Oreo build 41.3.A.2.157.
What I would like to know is if I update the software to the latest build for example to 41.3.A.2.171 will my phone 'brick' or will the 'root' be removed?
Thank you
will remove
