Side-Touch LR buttons - Huawei Mate 30 Pro Questions & Answers

Does who have the Mate 30 pro, how is the usage of the Side-Touch LR buttons with a screen protector attached? Does it work?

Works fine. I have Huawei fitted protector that curls around and have no problems left or right.

I also had one fitted at the Huawei store from which I bought the phone, and had no problems....except it cracked. I replaced it with another protector and it also worked fine...except it also cracked, oddly in exactly the same place, about 2cm below the top right corner. I wonder if it is because of some way I store it, or perhaps the gap between the screen protector and the case, which I also have fitted, it too narrow, so that when the case hits something slightly, it bends the screen.....just a guess. Anyway, the cracks weren't major and I'm leaving this one until it grows too big. My 2nd screen came in a pack of two, so I have another one ready
I have to wonder, though, if it is all worth it...

Screen protector on phone in box? Can we remove it?

Hi,
Just got this phone and I can't be 100% if it has a screen protector fitted to it already or it is one of the normal in box protectors just a bit thicker.
I don't really like it to be honest - I normally don't use screen protectors so wonder if someone removed it from theirs and how it is.
Thanks

It's a factory installed screen protector.. If I'm not mistaken, most honor phones come with one installed.. Like the 7x as well.. Up to you if you want to remove it..

Cheers, that's what I suspected..
The screen feels too resistant and a bit like an old tactile touch screen instead of a smooth 2018 screen with it on.
. I'll try it for a few days before I decide to take it off or not.

If you're on the latest 130 firmware version, touch sensitivity has gone down from the factory 100 version. It might not be the SP fault for low sensitivity..

I have removed it. It feels poly film type and not confident that it will provide any protection. Instead I bought teslar 3D screen guard and it worked well

Without the poly film screen is better. In fact with poly film the touches were sometimes not working and was not that smooth. For better experience you should remove it and use the phone or use any screen protector. Honor can ship something better in future.
The back cover is fine though and looks good with phone
On my phone the screen protector is not applied properly. It is at a slight angle so there is a small gap on the top half between the protector and the edge of the screen. That makes a sliver of brighter screen; it looks a bit weird.
I've just noticed how dirty this screen protector gets. It seems to catch fingerprints into a dull grey film and it doesn't wipe easily. I will have to remove the thing.

I removed mine and i tell u the screen is much better without it. The original screen does not keep finger prints, it gradually fades away.

OnePlus 6 tempered glass screen protector problems

I have had my screen protector from OnePlus on since I received the phone in May. As of right now, there is a crack spanning the entire screen, top to bottom and a half a ring shaped crack in the bottom of the screen protector. I have not dropped the device nor have I had anything impact the device. It has simply cracked under the pressure of my own pocket. I strongly urge against buying one. I have reached out to OnePlus and their response was that it was already installed, so they refused to do anything, even after providing many pictures and a video proving there was not a single scratch on the phone or screen protector. It is a total price of garbage. Do not buy!
So no crack in your phone screen? Thats all that matters tho. I mean maybe you didnt notice when you bumped into something because i doubt it can crack in your pocket only.
If i was you i would buy the moloco full adhesive screen protector from aliexpress for 3.99 dollar because it looks the same as the orig one.

Yea thats the one bro! And full adhesive is the way to go because matrix dot or edge only protectors are terrible.
Also if you really need a good protector then you can try to glue it on with LOCA 2500 glue. Videos are on youtube.

When it's in my pocket, I always have the screen to my leg. Also has a case. I'll dig through the pictures I sent OnePlus and post them later after work. Not a single scratch on anything, even the screen protector.
Anyone notice the sensitivity of the screen has lessened since using the OnePlus 6 tempered glass screen protector? Takes more effort to double tap, sometimes around the edges of the screen touch is iffy, I'm considering taking it off but would prefer to keep it on for obvious reasons..

I notice it a bit, but not enough to impact anything. I have big hands and they are strong from playing guitar so I usually press slightly harder anyway. It is a little on the thick side. Going to try a plastic as a replacement for my damaged one. I'll report how well it works after the weekend.

Removed My Whitestone Protector

I finally had enough. I removed the first one and reapplied using the new instructions and I was still having issues with the fingerprint sensor. I have to say that with it removed, it works so much better. I installed a film protector and it still works great. I'm done with Whitestone as it was a total waste of money. I emailed them and they told me that I would have to uninstall it without breaking the screen protector in order to get a refund. Good luck with that.
I have no issues with mine. Sure, the fingerprint sensor doesn't work as well but it's damn-near close.
Quick question for you though:
Do you remember where the 4 nipples (dots) were located on your glass?
The reason I'm asking is because I originally got the single pack and the glass had 4 little dots (2 on the top and 2 on the bottom) that I assume were used as spacers.
My second box was a two pack (because I effed up my first attempt) and the dots were now located on the left and right sides. I think they changed how the design of the protector and how it lifts itself up for the adhesive to improve fingerprint recognition. The 1st box had the "4 full"printed on the front while the 2nd box only said "3 full" (didn't have the "full-filling" listed).
Maybe you have what I would consider 1st Gen and I'm using 2nd Gen?
I did have issues shortly after install, but about every 6 hours I added new fingerprints and removed the old, each time was improving more and more. I did this for a day or so and now that I flashed the ASD3 firmware it's about as good as the stock Samsung film that was installed.
My theory is that the glue is still curing. As it cures, your fingerprints appear different, making the registered fingerprints look different than what it sees after more cure time.
I wouldn't give up just yet, in my opinion.

I'm using a generic brand UV cured protector ($10 off eBay) and it works great after re-registering my fingerprint a week after application.
I think you're absolutely right about the glue continuing to cure after the initial cure process using the lamp..

I probably had the 1st generation because I received them before I even got the phones. I have already given up as I am done dealing with this company. I have used them before and over time, stuff always seems to get up around the edges. I already went through both protectors so I'm done at this point. The fingerprint sensor works so much better without it anyhow. Now I barely have to press for it to work where as before I had to push down pretty hard.
I'm getting ready to remove mine as well. It's incredibly soft. I literally took a chunk out of it with my fingernail trying to scrape off what I thought was a piece of dirt on it.

That's not good at all. Was it ever dropped? Maybe it was later facedown on something hard that cussed a small crack.

Anything that cures with a UV lamp will work.. they all come out of the same factory anyway.
Just need a little patience and ensure its cured before registering your fingerprint.

Yeah, from maybe 2 feet off the couch arm onto a plastic vinyl flooring. Which if this protector can't survive that than it's definitely not work it. But now there's a crack going straight across it that just appeared today. I'm hoping it's a fluke with this particular protector and that these just aren't that flimsy.

Don't worry about it as I've tried both versions (side and bottom dot) with the latest instructions and cured with a much more expensive uv lamp, and neither worked.
I too gave up on the Whitestone, that was with ASBA. Maybe the new firmware could make it work, but I have no idea as I already returned both of mine.
I got a 2-pack, would not work no matter what I do, followed the instructions and videos to the dot. Got a replacement and still doesn't work, I give up on Whitestone Dome, got full refund. Clearly they are not trying to address the issue so I'm not going to support them until they do something about their false advertising.
I've also bought the whitestone screen protector.. Cost me $52 Sing dollars.. The shop install it for me and it look perfect.. I've went back home after a few hours and tried registering my fingerprints.. It was then I discovered that I could not even register my prints.. I tried very hard for many times and it was a terrible feeling I have for such a expensive screen protector.. With little luck I was to frustrated and remove it.. In the removal process it was another heartbreaking experience where the glass protector shatter into smaller pieces and I literally had to use a small pocket knife to scrap off the broken pieces...
Before the whitestone protector I had a similar protection which I broke it. I can tell you some conclusions: do not hurry with registering fingerprints. It seems the glue needs some days (maybe a week) to reach the final and stable composition. For me it takes two weeks to register fingerprints properly because I noticed the behaviour changes slightly from day to day. Also I mention here the registering the same finger in two different positions.
The first glass become usable after about two weeks. The unlock rate was about 4 of 5 and also it needs a little more pressure which also became smaller in time. For me it was ok. When I reached this point the phone falls down and I broke it. I wanted to order another but the store was out of stock so I bought whitestone dome glass. I replaced the glass and the new one did not need another adjusments, also it seems to be little more sensitive that the first one. The only thing that starts to bother me is the dust and dirt that gathers in the front camera hole.

Going to let you know, this is false. The glue is an AWFUL quality LOCA, a few redditors did some research on it (who use real LOCA daily). I pulled the Whitestone off my S9+ after a year, and it was still slightly tacky. That's not "needing to reach stability", that's just **** quality.
My Note 9 had the same issue, but I only had it on for a few months. Whitestone is just poor quality.

What is the best screen protector for s10 fingerprint work

A 1 week later i bought a tempered glass fingerprint work from ebay and is not good.it has already slipped off the edges and the imprint goes very rarely and hard.do you use some protective foil or glass that goes the imprint and can you recommend it to me?
Hi,
For me no protection is far better than all other solution (also dom glass)
The general expérience is far better (touch feeling, colour, reflectance,...)
But you need to be more careful with your phone (avoid keys or sands contact and clean it every day with soft Cloth ). For me after 1 month like this I have no scratch or other things.

Yes. I believe you. but I am not very careful I drop them a lot on foot. i think cornimg gorilla glass 6 is very ok and does not break so fast or scratch but yet ..
the biggest problem is that i don't find what global firmware to put because it is taken from amercia the snapdragon version and i don't have the language of my region because it is taken from verizon. could you help me?
Sorry but no.
Buy armfim screen protector
Better than white dome and finger print actually working.
Hi,
The better I've tested since now is LK screen protector.
No change in colour and touch feeling and also seem to be more protective than OEM one (auto repair scratch).
I try this for 2 days now with an OEM leather case and so far so good the feeling is pretty good in hand (better than hell classical TPU case....) and descent protection .

I m looking and i don t found...
I am using Invisible Shield Ultra Clear and it works great.
I replaced my broken Whitestone with the Mocolo UV nanoptics. It costs about the 1/4 of the Whitestone and it works and feels exactly the same. That means that the fingerprint reader works at about its 85-90% of its original cabability.
Any new cheap glass protectors on the market? I'm looking for something full adhesive edge to edge. FPS compatibility is not too critical but if it works without applying UV glue that would be great.
I ended up avoiding fingerprint unlock because it never works on the first try with my screen protector. That's the only thing I don't like about this device
Been using the apiker film for a week or so, 4 for $10 or whatever. Had an alignement jig, i wasn't super careful about cleaning, should've installed in the bathroom. Works really well, no problem with finger print. There's two spots on each side where it has popped up a little from taking my case on and off a feew times.
Just ordered the johncase tempered from Amazon, has the little uv light, pack of two for $15. See what happens.
My fps works correctly at least 9 times out of 10. I just registered my most frequently used finger, the right thumb, two times. One when it was completely dry and one more time when it was wet. Now I rarely loose a scanning.

Question How is your Ultra holding up? Scratches etc

My ultra is now 3 months old. I have the burgundy version. Even though I’ve been particular about cleaning it there is a tiny paint chip on the camera
https://imgur.com/Yb9IkHY
small permanent case markings that look like dust particles.
https://imgur.com/hSyYaMo
tried using one of lens wipes to clean it but it didn’t come off.
I’m curious how phones are holding up for you guys.
Still pretty much same condition as when I took it out of the box, already had the case & screen protector waiting so I didn't waste any time when it was delivered.

I was actually surprised how easy the screen has gotten a ton of small little scratches, suppose its my fault for hating screen protectors and cases, finally started using Whitestonedome screen protectors and currently using the latercase.
Surprisingly the back of my phone still looks brand new
Mine is good so far. It comes out of the case every other day and it and the case get a wipe down with a damp cloth. Then dried with a microfiber cloth before going back in the case.
If you leave the phone in the case for long periods of time, abrasive particles will get in between the phone and case and the damage begins.
Mine is doing great. I treat it like my car; I use it as designed, clean it occasionally, and do a little maintenance every so often.

I would say no. If you think of this single spot on top, it was most likely a one dust particle.

They actually look like dust particles on mine too. They might seem less pronounced given your colour though. Mine wont wipe off completely.
I have the Black one and no scratches toll now (using without case) but camera has small Spot... The white one with no paint on the shell from my friend ist perfekt till now... Think next time i go for white
Put an Otterbox on the device right away but not a screen protector. The screen is extremely prone to micro scratches which can only be seen when screen is off, or with very low backlight and dark image (I've had the device a month an already some prominent micro scratches) . Awaiting screen protectors in the mail. This is a bummer as previous versions of gorilla glass stood up better to micro scratches (never had nearly the micro scratches on my S20 which I ran for 2 years without screen protection) . Pay off I guess for having better shatter protection.
Iv been running case with a naked screen ever since I realized that every protector ive tried affects either swipe typing and more so Spen responsiveness. Thank God tmobile allows you to add insurance to phones they offer regardless if it's bought from them or 3rd parties. The phone is just way to smooth for any obstructions for me.
no scratches
