Hi all
I’ve recently bought a BMW E38 and it came with an android head unit. I’ve tried to connect to my iPhone to use it as a hotspot and it connects but only for a few seconds. Radios not working either but I think it’s not been fitted correctly.
I’ve tried researching online but can’t see any solutions. Really appreciate any help.
The details:
Model- PX5 (1024x600)
Android 8
MCU- MTCE_GS_V2.78_3
CPU- 8 core 64bit CPU coretex a53 @ 1.5g
What did the reseller suggest and has that been tried with anything else?
I had similar issue where HU's wifi turns off automatically after few seconds. Is your HU doing the same?
WiFi problems
I also have the same issue WiFi will either connect and disconnect repeatedly, or will just not find my network at all?? Either 4g dongle or tethered to iPhone. Although my phone will find the single and connect so I know they work so it must be something to do with the HU it’s nearly new running android 8.1. So far I’m stumped with finding a solution.
mine turned out to be the antenna problem. If I take off the small wifi antenna then wifi stays connected. this has reduced the wifi range considerably. I know it sucks but only thing that has worked for me so far.

Yeah I’ve had the same issues with my unit, I find sometimes it stays connected if I power up the iPhone hotspot a few seconds before powering up the head unit. If I forget and the head unit powers on first usually it refuses to obtain an IP from the phone.

Hi there,
I just got this phone a week back and am having a lot of issues, making me question the purchase of this phone.
1st off there are a lot of issues with bluetooth, I was using a redmi note 3 before and there were absolutely no issues with connecting to paired bluetooth devices. On honor 6x, connecting - reconnecting a bluetooth device is very inconsistent. Sometimes I have to turn off and turn on bluetooth to pair the device back, also turning on bluetooth after turning it off is slow. Sometimes even this doesnt help and then I have to unpair the bluetooth device and re-pair it to make it work. On the redmi note 3 there was never an issue.
2nd problem is very slow wifi, I have a dual band router (TPLink WDR3600) and the wifi is terribly slow only on the honor 6x, I have a couple of more devices on 2.5ghz band and the speed is good no slowness at all.
I am really at my wits end with this phone, I would be really grateful if you guys could suggest any possible solutions to these problems.

Never had these problems you mentioned and i use bluetoooth all the time connected to my fitbit and wireless earphones
No issues here as well. In fact, I tested the Honor 6X with a Redmi 4 (which supports dual band) and found that Redmi 4 had a comparatively much poor performance than Honor 6X. I was getting almost 1.5x better and consistent speed in Honor 6X.
Never had to use bluetooth with this device though.
Thanks people, I had used google nearby when setting up the Honor 6x and had got all settings transferred from the Redmi Note 3. Looking at all your replies I feel this could be the culprit, I will do a factory reset of the phone and report back, I had already tried clearing cache but no solution.
me too facing WiFi slow issue..

Just change your phone, warranty will cover you!
I have tested bluetooth on multiple devices and no issues, about the wifi, it is the best wifi on a phone that i ever had.
Copy data from wifi as fast as my laptops.
So, it must go to warranty, try maybe a reset before.

Hi all,
I've recently upgraded my joying mtcd rk3188 to px5 with a new motherboard from AliExpress. Everything works perfectly, except for wifi. Before, with my old motherboard, I could get max speeds from my phones (4g/lte) wifi Hotspot, or my home wifi router. After upgrading to px5 however, I get at most 20KB/s download speed. Putting my old px3 mobo back resolves the issue. The 2 wifi antennas are not touched in this process...
Relevant info: mcu version kgl 2.85 (latest), Rom Android 8.0 may 2018 (latest from dasaita thread). The wifi chip is a, rtl8188eu.
Does anyone have any idea?

I have the same unit and the exact same WiFi speed issue, did you ever find a solution?
no I eventually returned it for a Xtrons unit but getting the same problems after updating android and MCU, do you have tmobile? I'm thinking it may be a throttling issue with them. I am also getting wifi authentication errors sometimes when I start up my car and it tries to connect to my phones hotspot.
all KGL units have this problem.. dosconnect the bluetooth and wifi will work fine.. you can not use both at the same time..
my advice, return the unit and get another type except kgl
this problem also exists on my MTCD GS unit even when there is no bluetooth device connected, so just buying a different one is unlikely to solve the problem. Someone needs to confirm that their wifi connection (also the device that opened the hotspot) worked stable over at least a few weeks otherwise i wouldnt buy a new one
I recently updated and wiped the android and mcu provided by Xtrons, its reconnecting successfully finally after sleep. However, I am getting speed issues still, after a couple of minutes of driving it slows down to .2 to .4 mbps.

I'm on Verizon, I ended up just returning the unit for a refund after reading about all of the others who are having similar issues.
Such a shame really, these units have all of the features and functionality that I would ever need and will fit perfectly in the dash of my Silverado but all of the different brands seem to be marred with similar quality issues.
Hi,
i own a Xtrons PX3 with Android 7.1.2.
A couple months ago i noticed connection failures on my wifi. Over the following weeks the problem got worse. Today the device is completly unable to even find access points. Bluetooth is working perfectly.
I tried the following steps:
- multiple switching off and on again of wife: "activating wifi" taked about a minute. No access points. Wifi disables itself and turns on without finding networks.
- activating the access point: no effect
- replaced the antenna: no effect
- reseted network settings:
The wifi worked for one time 3 minutes. I was able to connect to my mobile phones access point. But after about 3 minutes the same error again. No networks. No connection at all.
- upgraded the MCU from MTCD_GS_V2.56_3 to MTCD_GS_2.94: no effect
- installed Malaysk 5.0 from https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...nt/rom-malaysk-roms-mtcd-mtce-device-t3693509 without data wipe: no effect
- installed Malaysk 5.0 WITH complete data wipe:
Again the wifi worked one time for 3 minutes. But now no wifi whatsoever.
I dont think it is a hardware issue. Otherwise it shouldnt have worked for some minuted after the complete data wipe.
Please help me. The Head Unit is more or less worthless without an internet connection.
Kind Regards
Hagen von Tronje
Hi there. I can assure you that it’s a hardware issue. I had this before and I replaced the WiFi and Bluetooth board and all was good after that.
The symptoms are exactly the same. Works for a moment but not always and for a very short time. This can happen because the chip gets quite hot and the soldering or the chip itself gets damaged.
My advice is to get a compatible board from China, they are very cheap - 2-3$ and replace it. I’ve done this twice now and both Bluetooth and WiFi are working well. I know how it behaves before failing.

Well, thanks. I thought if Bluetooth is working then it should Not be a Hardware issue. Because both things are handeled by the same Module.
Do you have a link or something for me where I can buy such a replacement part? I tried Google and eBay. No success.
Thx.
Kind regards
Hagen
Try AliExpress. I don’t know what kind of chip you have now to be able to advise.
The Bluetooth and WiFi can be on the same chip but the connections are different pins.
It might be a good idea before ordering and waiting to try and repeat the soldering points to the board.

Hello all!
I have a S10e, running stock Android 10. The wifi at my house constantly disconnects and reconnects, rendering my phone as virtually useless, as it switches between my mobile network and wifi. I have tried all of the trouble shooting I've found online, just short of a full backup/master reset. I'm trying to avoid that.
Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this? Better yet, how can I fix it? I'm rather annoyed, as I've had several Samsung Galaxy phones that have had minor issues, but nothing as annoying as this. I'm about to buy another model phone.
Thanks in advance

Hi, I have the S10e G970F_MMI - Singapore Snapdragon. Similar issues with wifi and bluetooth turning off immediately after update. Got one message from Wi-Fi control history that said Google Play services turned off wi-fi. I tried disconnecting Play services but that did not help however I am suspicious that it might also have something to do with Bixby Routines. Tried Samsung but no help as my phone is only 13 months old and 1 month out of warranty and I am not in Singapore but stuck in UK. Like you, I am a long time Samsung client with phones, tablets and TV's but I have now lost confidence in them. I tried factory reset and reflashing the custom ROM but no luck. I do hope that you can resolve your wi-fi issue and have a wonderful New Year.
Apparently, Samsung admitted the S10 series suffers from this issue. I noticed it on mine, just in the last month or two, disconnecting intermittently roughly every 30 minutes. I thought it might have been my router, but I realized it's definitely my phone (S10e US snapdragon).
Nothing I tried fixed it. I did disable "wi-fi power saving mode" and wifi auto connect (I have tasker auto re-connect wifi when it disconnects).
I do have "wi-fi san throttling" enabled in developer options, which shouldn't have anything to do with this. HOWEVER, you might try "wi-fi safe mode" under developer options and see if that helps keep it more persistent.
One other suggestion, though it shouldn't matter, is to try assigning a specific IP address to your phone (do this from your router settings, not your phone). And you can search for other solutions online to cut down on radio interference on your home network. Other devices and neighbors might be disrupting the router signal strength, possibly dropping it below a level that causes your phone to drop wifi.
I got the same problem before, used an Asus router. I changed to a Qualcomm chip router and its fixed. Try a different router?

Unfortunately I cannot, as the router I have is from my internet provider. I would have to run that to another router and at that point it's just a waste of money. Thank you for the info though! If I get annoyed enough I may buy a cheap router to see if it fixes the problem.

My Exynos stopped disconnecting after installing OpenWrt on my Qualcomm router
Hi, I got NC2 earbuds, when I make Whatsapp video calls the communication is cut, it appears the message "poor connection" and the Wifi on the phone is taken down, and sometimes also in the whole house. I have to reset the router to restore the Wifi. The Internet speed is around 90 Mbps.
The earbuds are paired to my phone with SBC. I suspect there is something related to Android 11, because I tried this scenario in another phone with Android 8 and all was good. My phone is Xiaomi Mi Note 10 with Android 11. Any idea guys?
Thats really strange does it happens when using the earbuds in other apps?
How far away are you from the router when this happens?
Does it happens with other phones?
I mean other phones with android 10+ os version
This is quite strange. I'm about 2 or 3 meters away from the router, I start a Whatsapp video-call by using these earbuds and everybody loses Wifi at home and I have to reset the router. I can't figure out until now how this can be possible.
Taking a Wild guess I would assume that the frequency is causing an interference with your router.
Heres more information.
