Hey there everyone,
I have a Samsung Galaxy SM J727P (Boost Mobile) - I am not quite sure what happened; however I sometimes power my phone off by pulling the battery. This time... at the very wrong time or the right time. I am guessing it was doing a system update; however I didn't select that and didn't get a notification.
When I powered it back up, it gave me an error and wouldn't boot.
I since then accidentally pressed some buttons and the screen loaded Android Recovery screen. I would flash it with ODIN however I don't want to lose any data. My SIM Card has my contacts I believe for the most part. I would like to save as much as possible.
Does anyone have any ideas what this error could mean for my data situation? I never once rooted this phone or changed stock ROM.
Here it is: (Also has cracked screen from running it over with my car):

peter couniaz,
Would you agree that "J727PVPU6BSF2" would be the next version to flash it to correctly from the existing J727PVPU4BRK4 version of firmware?
I found the following direct links to the above mentioned firmware:

Thank you again peter,
I was able to solve this by doing as you said and using the following firmware:
samfrew dot com/download/Galaxy__J7__Perx__/tadn/BST/J727PVPU4BRK4/J727PSPT4BRK4/
NOTE: If you are using Boost Mobile and an American like myself; Don't hesitate using Regional Firmware: (BST). It's the Boost Mobile Branding that's the true differential.
I flashed with ODIN revision Current.13 and it worked wonderfully!

Guys looking for updating their GT-P1000 from Froyo to GingerBread:
Just go download "Mobile Odin Pro" from some blackmarket link.
Get the firmware for Gingerbread 2.3.3 you want to install. Upload it to you tab's disk (not the external sd card).
Start Mobile Odin Pro. It will ask you to update some software extensions based on your mobiles version and then all you need to do is to search the firmware file on you phone and select it automatically.
and then flash it. That's pretty much it.
Cons: this Mobile Odin Pro currently only works for few (3/4) Samsung mobiles. GT-P1000 happens to be one of them
Remember: Try to open the zip file on you computer and make sure to update all the required files after extracting the zip file. You can always create a new zip or rar to upload to you cell.
In case of any questions feel free to contact me. ([email protected]) or PM me if they don't ban me
P.S: i am working on finding a solution to update GT-P1000 to icecreamsandwich custom. If i have the updates i will gladly share them with you. Thank you
just so you know, i have tried various gingerbread 2.3.3 updates and they have all come with few bugs.
If any one finds a perfect one, please let us know.
Various Firmware issues:
Unable to use USB to connect with PC or to be used as a charger
Text Messages not recognized
Taking too much RAM
App force close issues. (Have to install each app again)
Froyo available maps and navigation tools not available
and few other issues not at the top of my mind right now. However as i keep looking for the prefect Gingerbread update i will update accordingly. Thank you
USB Connection Issue Resolved
It turned out a hint in this post on USB connection trouble fixed my problem... "somehow" the device's USB port was set to 'modem mode' and I had to type *#7284# on the phone keypad to re-set it!
In my case UART was on modem so i set it to PDA and voila!! windows 7 had some driver updates and i had USB connection.
However i still have to resolve the USB Charging issue. Any help/ suggestion will be welcome. thank you.

how do i upload pics from my PC? cant seem to find a link
Can any one provide me a "free" download link for:
CSC: P1000OJPJJ1
Phone: P1000JXJJ1
Actually these are part of the official "Froyo 2.2" GT-P1000 in Pakistan (Carrier: Mobilink). I was having signal problems with other Gingerbread 2.3.3 roms i updated.
I want to downgrade to Froyo with "P1000JPJJ1" rom (which i have), however cant seem to find the exact CSC and Modem file.
I will also appreciate if some one can advice me on how to get the modem settings saved from an official tab and transferred to my tab.
Please correct me if i am wrong.. i order to get my signals working, i have to have the correct modem file? right combination will be:
Base Band: P1000JXJJ1
Kernal: 2.3.32.9 [email protected]#1
Build No: Froyo.JPJJ1
*#1234# would then show:
PDA: P1000JPJJ1
Phone: P1000JXJJ1 (Required)
CSC: P1000OJPJJ1 (Required)

Problem:
Latest Version of LG Mobile Update prevents uses from updating firmware from kdz files.
Info:
As LG Tools relay on lg webserver to provide application updates and firmware updates it's not possible to just use the old version as it force fully update it self.
Solution:
I used network sniffer(Wireshark) to sniff all the traffic between application and LG Webserver i tracked the important urls and the data coming from LG Webserver. I created all the files with same names and with data from LG Webserver. I changes the LG Mobile Application from 1.5.4.9 to 1.5.4.8. Rest of the files has same data as LG.

1) Download http://smallsrv.com/

This kind of things happen..I am not that expert but can advise on the basis of what i gained from xda website.
If you can go in recovery and download means not much serious thing.
FIRST TRY TO RESTORE YOUR SYSTEM FROM RECOVERY BY USING YOUR OLD BACKED UP .
if not then follow steps below:
1. I would recommend you to download fresh odin3V1.85
2. Download steady honeycomb version of your region from
3. From recovery clear delvic cache/factory reset/ and all stuff.
4. Enter download mode and do all the flashing once again. Make sure your power to usb post is ok. I have observed old laptops or pcs just disconnect for a second or so and again reconnect. If this happens while flashing then you come to this stage.
Hope it will solve your problem.
If not other experts are still out there on XDA developers website.......
Don;t panic.
Enjoy with XDA developer's website.

Hi niceashwin79,
thank you very much for your short tutorial.
!NICE! Ashwin
But I already sent it to Samsungsupport. ( BTW. Couldnt wipe anyway, it always stucked, also tried to flash serial roms)
It was returned yesterday, with 3.2 Open Austria and AUT (Swizz) CSC.
So I flashed 4.0.4 Open Austria and became XEO CSC.
But the return to ATO (Austria, the right CSC) was with CSC Selecter for SG1 SG2 and Note from the Market quite easy.
The third party Samsung support company exchanged the motherboard.
However my UMTS/3G-module is not working anymore. I didnt test it with the 3.2, but I guess, it didnt work, too.
The Tab does not recognize the SIM, no message, nothing.
Besides that I have a full nandroidbackup of 4.0.4 with AUT CSC BEFORE the brick.
(Loading this backup after changing CSC from AUT to ATO probably bricked my Tab.
I would be very pleased and thankfull if anywone is able to help me,
thanks in advance
EDIT: I have a small update for you.
If you go to the tab "security" you can deactivate/change the SIM's password. Both actions register my device in the network. Every reboot is the same, so the problem is not fixed yet but kind of sloved.
Still looking for a perfect solution,
greetings Lipi

Not right now. Moar Rom is based on OI6 and there aren't enough significant changes to warrant a rewrite. I'm holding off for Marshmallow/Android 6.0 I think.
Thank you sir. Good to have this file stashed away if something bad happens. Like zombies, plague, ect.

Are you sure this firmware is for your exact phone?
What is advantages of flashing this build
My current situation:
- When no battery remaining and plugged in, grey battery icon shows but never updates or sleeps.
- Press power button to boot phone: opens the device booting splash screen, looks like this. Completely unresponsive and will not change until battery runs out:
{

}
- Pressing power, home and down while booting will fail and reboot
- Pressing power, home and up will boot the TWRP recovery I installed. Seems fine while in there, can move files in and out of filesystem.
How I think this happened:
1) Started on stock ROM
2) Installed TWRP via Odin
3) Tried installing [Unofficial] Lineage 16, this resulted in a failed boot (showed startup animation for over 2 hours), restarting resulted in boot failing and phone automatically rebooting to recovery
4) Tried to restore backup made immediately before installation, did not fix issue, just failed to boot and automatically rebooted to recovery.
5) Tried to install [Unofficial] Lineage 15.1, did not fix issue
6) Tried to restore backup made from my old Lineage 14.1 made on another phone (also a G620I, but shows up as G620F on PC ? ), this appears to have caused the current situation
Steps taken to try and fix:
I have tried installing the stock ROM via TWRP, no change.
I am not very experienced with fixing mobile devices but I am willing to try, so all help is appreciated.
I assume that your device is SM-G920F.
Download and run this;
https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3803841&d=1467715462
When you open the program, type the values given here;
Model: SM-G920F
Region: XSG
Auto: Selected
Manual: Unselected
Binary Nature: Selected
Check CRC32: Selected
Decrypt automatically: Selected
When you write and select options given above, press "Check Update" and then press "Download" to download factory firmware for your device.
Once the download has been finished, extract the zip file that you've downloaded via SamFirm.
After unzip it, download and run this Odin (even if you have another one);
https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3804544&d=1467772303
When you open it, press BL and select file which starts with BL from downloaded (from Samfirm) and extacted zip folder.
Do the same thing for AP, CP, CSC.
When you set 4 files to Odin, connect your phone in download mode.
After that, press Start. When Odin done the installation, phone will restart. When it is restarted, disconnect the cable.
After 1-2 minutes, phone should boot up as completely refreshed device.

I had a look at some reference threads and I am in a different region to United Arab Emirates (XSG).
However I have heard the region does not change anything as long as my phone is not locked to a carrier. Is this true?
Thank you very much for the fast help!

It is SM-G920I, does this mean I do the same technique, only change the model to "SM-G920F"? (I just want to be certain before flashing firmware!)

Yes.
And also you need to change the CSC to NPL (because G920I doesn't have XSG firmware).
