Hi everyone!
I'm considering this model because of 512gb option.
I noticed that xda has not rom alternative for this model. Can someone tell me if there is the possibility to have moded ROM in the future for this model?
I will be happy to hear any answer. Thanks in advance!

If a member with the knowledge/experience buys the device and it has stock source code available to the public, maybe, but there is no way to know if/when one of these people can/will but it or support it with custom development.
If one of these people doesn't buy it or if the stock source code is not available, no, it will not receive custom development.
You will just have to wait and see, but, you could always try learning to do it yourself instead of waiting.

Hi I was wondering if it's possible to get a stock ROM of Nexus 6P working on the Mate 8? Or a slightly modified version of the stock 6P?
um....no
two completely different devices with completely different hardware. ull basically need to rewrite the whole rom in order to port it, not exactly an easy untertaking...

No, but we will likely eventually get cyanogenmod, which is very similar, just with more options.

I think it dont work like that, we have to be ourself involved to cm devellopement to make it possible.
So our only chance is to get some of us(Mate8 owner) with enough skill to start to work on it.
we need roms like oppo rom
love it
That is the one down side to these phones as they aren't as popular as phones such as the LG G series, Samsung's, HTC's, Nexus series. They are great phones hopefully more developers get on board.
As well as many other i'm used to see on other devices, why is that? Perhaps i've missed something..
Samsung haven't released the source code / drivers or something yet afaik
It's so for lot of other phones, yet you get custom roms inclueing cm13..! So there are only TouchWiz based roms for now, that's it?

No Source = No CM.
As said, if it happens on other phones, why not GS7!

Other phones don't use samsungs exynos chip, plus samsung locked the snapdragon's bootloader, so we're double ****ed.
In the end, what's the best and lightest rom to use on this phone today?

In order to support the Galaxy S8/S8+ on XDA with the LIGHT PATCH we need to have a Thread/Device Maintainer before! If You would like to know more take a look right here:

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the updated link, but I have unfortunate news. SD S8/S8+ do not have unlockable bootloaders, so no TWRP or root available.

The Snapdragon Version? That means Samsung forces European customers to buy the Exynos Variant which is unlockable while the US gets the Snapdragon which is locked?
What kind of slaving is this? Looks like Samsung don't wants us to use AOSP so we have to buya new Device every Year to get the latest Android!?
I would really like to support the Users of the Samsung Devices but i'm sad to hear that it will not happen yet :/ What about the S7? Has anyone cracked it?

S7/S7edge do indeed have root by way of Engineer Boot kernels flashed through Odin. They also have locked bootloaders though so no TWRP.

As long as root is available and the System R/W it will work. Cross My Fingers for the S8 Snapdragons! It is really a great Device on the Hardware Side...
I've experienced the same locked Bootloader Story with the LG G5 which means for Me less Users all over XDA. Really a bummer! Looks like i go back to Sony which are Worldwide unlockable (except for some strange Carriers in the far East). They are also very open to XDA and the custom Szene around Android which is unique somehow. I've to support them...
Thanks for the Infos Mate!

No worries but if we get some progress for S8 SD, I'll shoot you a PM. Your project would be very much welcomed here.

Hey guys,
Anyone knows wherr to get the Version B or C of the phone?
Thr LTE bands in these versions are essential for use in Canada.
I looked and asked on Aliexpress, and they only have the Version A.
Any input is appreciated.
Thanks!

Yes, that's correct. They can't make two forums based on region.

Not fully true, there's a thread in this forum where someone got a copy from ASUS USA (review/preview device?) and based off the manual appeared to be a version C.
