As well as many other i'm used to see on other devices, why is that? Perhaps i've missed something..
Samsung haven't released the source code / drivers or something yet afaik
It's so for lot of other phones, yet you get custom roms inclueing cm13..! So there are only TouchWiz based roms for now, that's it?

No Source = No CM.
As said, if it happens on other phones, why not GS7!

Other phones don't use samsungs exynos chip, plus samsung locked the snapdragon's bootloader, so we're double ****ed.
In the end, what's the best and lightest rom to use on this phone today?

Hi All, here's the use case: I use my phone for work quite a lot, so I need a stable, fully configured version running during working hours (this is, my curent rooted-stock 4.1.2, but also I want to play with other ROMS and possibly in the future migrate from my main stock ROM to a custom one.
I've read that it was possible to dual-boot on CM9 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774795) and that for other S3 (I9300 and I9305) there's a kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709686) that allows multi-boot pretty easy.
Now I want to know, is it possible and is there a good totorial to dual boot in an updated Verizon S3 (I535VRBMF1)?
Thanks

No as none of the kernels has a dual boot option.
As mentioned it's not possible. Next best option is to nandroid and restore as needed

The way these S3's are... it just isn't possible to dual boot.
I wish it was an option.

Is it really impossible? Back before the bootloader was unlocked we were using kexec to theoretically do the same thing.

No isn't possible with this phone since we no longer use kexec and pretty much all of the custom kernels don't have any dual boot option.

I'm positive. The best and closest thing we can do is backup ROMs and flash back and forth between them... but actually dual booting won't happen. It has something to do with how our phones boot up... I've read the explanation somewhere.

Hmm, I'll have to look for that explanation. It would seem to me that someone could build a kernel with kexec again and multiboot kind of like Tasssadar did for the Nexus 7. I realize it's different hardware than the N7, but seems it would be doable since something similar was already done once-upon-a-time on this device.

There were certain kernels that could dual boot for an S3, but from my understanding, not for the VZW S3 (I could be wrong here, or just wrong entirely). I really don't know much about kernels and hardware, but maybe it has something to do with the lack of hardware that a VZW S3 has compared to the others. Quite possibly the processors since the VZW is actually only a dual core? Not sure if that would have anything to do with it. Lol.

Dual Boot has definitely been achieved on the Verizon Galaxy S3 via kexec. It was how we were able to get around the locked bootloader. Once it was unlocked however we no longer needed it so it was dropped. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28809516
I for one would definitely donate to any dev that was able to come up with a working solution (like Tasssadar's http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2011403)

The S3 mini is getting it. Maybe there is something good still for the novathor platform.
If proper sources are released.

no shieet use cm 11 better then every samsung rom ever
I know the reason why these b*stards don't give any 4.3+ update for us.
Samsung has done only one good think in his phones. He sells it with unlocked bootloader.
Sent from my GT-I9070P using xda app-developers app
s3mini on novathor is not getting kitkat also. Only US version of s3mini(almost completely diffrent device) on qualcomm is getting an update.
And what's the moral of it? Never believe in rumours, and NEVER EVER BELIEVE Sammy. Oh wait I forgot... they kept their promise, they gave us JB... Yeah, right... Fck sammy.
---------- Post added at 11:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:06 PM ----------
Hahaha I just remembered that Sammy sait that they will provide many mid range devices with Kitkat, coz it's lighter than JB ! ROFL
Maclaw said, that, the US version of the s3 mini, and from what i learned, the "US" version is the AT&T variant, i seriously don't think that Sammsung is goin to invest in the few hundreads(?) of AT&T S3 Mini version (i think it has express name or something), when they can invest in the vastly international version sold in USA and almost all the american continent (the GT-i8790L).
Anyway time will tell maybe later this month Sammobile is going to have STE Novathor firmwares of S3 Mini.
Even then we have more than amazing dev's and we are in the golden age for our device, also i think that by years end most of us will be having new cellphones.
I think if wolft will came back witch android 4.4 costom rom witch touchwizz we will feel the same feeling as official kitkat for our devices.

We will.
It's better...with 4.1.2 samsung hasn't working well
Yeah we wouldn't get a decent OS anyway
I don't think the rom is itself would be good. I don't like the touchwiz experience that much. But it would mean newer kernel sources, and newer binary blobs, such as OMX components, Mali libs, etc... All those could improve the current state of Team Canjica's CM11 (which I'm currently happily using).
Given all the 4.4.2 ROMs floating around, it wouldn't be much of a hassle for Samsung to make an upgrade (not taking Touchwiz into account).

I don't know much about the "hu", but if your device hasn't been rooted by anyone yet & a custom recovery hasn't been developed for it, then there will be no roms made. :/

Hi I was wondering if it's possible to get a stock ROM of Nexus 6P working on the Mate 8? Or a slightly modified version of the stock 6P?
um....no
two completely different devices with completely different hardware. ull basically need to rewrite the whole rom in order to port it, not exactly an easy untertaking...

No, but we will likely eventually get cyanogenmod, which is very similar, just with more options.

I think it dont work like that, we have to be ourself involved to cm devellopement to make it possible.
So our only chance is to get some of us(Mate8 owner) with enough skill to start to work on it.
we need roms like oppo rom
love it
That is the one down side to these phones as they aren't as popular as phones such as the LG G series, Samsung's, HTC's, Nexus series. They are great phones hopefully more developers get on board.
Hello so I have the g920w8 with virgin mobile Canada I was wondering if there is any working roms for it yet? I have been looking at the forums and can't seem to find a single rom for my model have I been left in the dust? any rom suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

As am I. You could always install latest stock, and debloat as you see fit. Lots of threads & tools for that.

The problem is I hate stock rom though not just because the bloatware but because I prefer custom roms and the features they bring that Samsung could never put on the table. But thanks anyways.

Um. All S6 ROMs are based on some stock ROM. XtreStoLite is based on an S6 stock ROM. This is due to the chipset in use.
