Hi,
The battery life of my Nexus 5 has taken a dramatic hit since the 4.4.2 update. I think the culprit is Android System but the GSAM battery graph seems to suggest that the culprit is Android OS kernel. My Nexus 5 is on 4.4.2, unrooted, stock ROM and the build no. is KOT49H.
In short, my phone does not seem to have a wakelock issue but I can't verify because 4.4 does not allow wakelock access without root. It sleeps fine at night and in daytime when it is not in use. I only lose around 5% or less overnight with 2x battery turning off the data connection and only turning on data connection once every night. The problem is the Android System which drains at least 17% (sometimes 25%) of battery everyday and routinely sits on top my of battery usage chart with or without me actually using the phone. My usage per charge is typically around 6-7 hours with around 1 hour 45 minutes screen on time. I had extraordinary battery life before the update to 4.4.2 (lasting more than 1 day with over 3 or 4 hours screen on time). Now my battery life is completely shot. The battery graphs attached already represent one of the better days. Some days the Android system will drain at 25% or more. You will note my phone relatively slept fine without draining at night in the first 7 or 8 hours and then the battery drain started to take a nose dive after I woke up. I feel that whenever I start using the phone (with the screen being turned on), the battery drain will occur. My observations are as follows:
1. I use LTE but the reception at my home and work for LTE is not good so the radio jumps between LTE and H+ from time to time however I do not think the radio jumping contributes that much to the drain. The drain stays the same even when I am at a place with good LTE reception. I use wifi at home but i cannot connect to wifi at work (which sadly is another issue). The wifi is always off unless i use it at home. I do NOT have wifi scanning in the settings. I have wifi battery optimization on. I never use bluetooth.
2. My google now is off. My location setting is completely off with no location reporting etc..
3. My Google + auto back up is off. I do not use Facebook, Facebook messenger, Instagram, snapchat etc. I mostly use Feedly, Whatsapp, Gmails and look at stock quotes every day. I seldom take pictures, videos or listen to music.
4. I only have one widget dashclock widget. I have removed feedly and stock quote widgets from the home screen but they don't seem to affect my battery usage that much.
5. I use Automateit but only have a few rules such as setting vibrate on weekdays etc.. I do not have any profiles which are related to GPS or location which i understand would drain battery. I also use Dynamic Notification, Light Flow, Lux, Nova Launcher, Notification Toggle and the memory in general is always below 65% in the background. I also use 2x battery to save battery which is set at switching off data after I turn off the screen and it will only turn data in the background every 10 minutes.
6. I have tried safe mode and 9 out of 10 times the Android system drain remains the same. The only way to lower the Android system drain (albeit temporary) is when I turn off the phone and plug it in for a charge, then turn it on when it is full and still plugged in. After I unplug it, the Android System drain will lower to say 7 or 8 % but it will slowly creep back up to 20% within an hour or so.
7. The CPU usage overlay routinely has 9 + readings on the top when the screen is turned on (but with no app running). I think it means very high CPU usage.
8. I do not think Feedly is causing any problems. I deleted the app and the drain remains. I also do not think GSAM is that useful as pointed out by another member here. It points to one app. You delete that app and then the drain remains it will point to something else.
9. I have been using Greenify (non-root) but it does not seem to help with my battery drain as the drain might be caused by system apps or processes within the OS.
I don't know what else to do and this problem has been troubling me for more than 1 month now. Please help !
Update on 24/2/2014:
I have given up and factory reset my phone. After I reset my phone, the apps were installed via Google Play automatically. I also switched to ART. It was fine initially for at least one day. The apps were there but I did not use or enable most of them as I wanted to transfer all my data and tweaked the settings in one goal. I mostly just used Feedly, Whatsapp and Maps for navigation. Even with Maps and high accuracy GPS on, the Android System would go below 10% even though it would temporarily increase to say above 20% during navigation. This morning, I thought the battery seemed ok so I enabled Lux, Dynamic Notifications, Lightflow, Automateit, Nova Launcher and restore the settings to most of the apps.
The Android System drain came back within 2 hours and hit 25% of the total battery drain. My phone's battery dropped from 100% to 40 % in less than 5 hours and the screen on time was only around 1 hour! I never did any battery intensive actions. The most was turning on the phone to check my battery and whatsapped less than 10 messages back and forth ! Since the drain re-appeared, I have turned off completely the location setting, Google Now, sync for Google Plus, auto-backup for Google Plus. I have removed all widgets and disabled Dynamic Notifications, Nova Launcher, Light Flow, Lux. The drain still remains the same at 23% or more.
This is driving me absolutely crazy and I am sick and tired of spending so much time and energy on sorting out the cause for drain (and to no avail!) I spent a lot more time on trying to fix the phone than really utilizing the phone for my benefit !! I just sent an email to the Google tech support and hope they will help instead of sending me generic self-help sheet. Thanks all for listening and trying to help. I am just really disappointed with Google this time.
Use bbs to get wakelock info.
Feedly has got to go too

Thanks for your reply. My N5 is not rooted so I do not have access to wakelock stats anymore.
I have removed Feedly but the android system drain persists.
Not a lot that can be done without knowing the cause. Consider factory reset?

I am hoping I don have to resort to factory reset and can wait for the 4.4.3 update but I guess my patience is running out.
Thanks for your help.
My missus' LG-P880 has exactly the same problem. Just started happening one day. It seems to be wakelock locator alarms according to bbs but there doesn't appear to be any reason for it. Its been driving me mad too. Luckily tho she's rooted so using app opps i disabled Google services location and it's kinda helped

Did you try another kernel ? When I changed to franco kernel, my battery life is better.
having weak LTE signal kills the battery but it should not be this bad.
Maybe you should try a factory reset and see if the problem still persist, if not then you have an rogue app somewhere.
You can use the process of elimination.
Start with disabling Dynamic notifications and Light flow as those have high potential for battery drain.

Restart your phone in safe mode, and see the battery drainage...maybe it can help you.
It seems good for me

I had this same problem the other night. Get app ops starter from the play store. In there turn location off in Google play services and android system. Note, this may impact other apps. I don't use any that I need location for so it works for me.
Sent from my Nexus 5
I had a similar issue as well. For me I turned off a couple things and it really helped:
1. Turned off Cerberus, I believe checking location too often or incorrectly or something.
2. Turned off Account sync for Play Newstand. Noticed when a sync would occur, it would hang on Newstand for much too long which I think was waking device and keeping device awake during it's long syncs. Everything else would only take a min or two total.
3. Set G+ photo sync to only sync when on wifi and charging.
4. Removed Yahoo Weather app. Noticed yahoo weather app staying alive a lot too.
5. Removed Whatsapp. Probably unnecessary really, but any of those messaging/weather/location apps that I don't use often (if ever) I removed to make sure they weren't checking location in the background.
So far, I'm at 78% battery today when I would have been at around 30-40% usually, so that combo has made a huge difference.
It's going to be different for everyone I think, but basically just make sure you don't have any excess apps checking location in the background. And at least for me there seems to be something wrong with Play Newsstand sync hanging for long periods of time.
Yea... Even i had the same issues... Latest version killes ma deep sleep mode nd also some of a rules disappeared....
I was having similar issues and was able to narrow it down to syncing Google Services...
I found that often times Google Drive would get hung up when syncing in the background and chew up my battery.
What Google Services do you have set to auto-sync? I would narrow it down to the ones you only really need to have synced in the background and have the others sync up for you when you open them.
Also, in regards to your LTE/H+ signal, have you tried to flash another radio to see if there is any improvement? A poor signal can have a pretty significant impact on battery life as well.
Lastly, as mentioned by another user, Better Battery Stats, though requiring root, will make it a lot easier to track down the culprit of the issue if it indeed a rogue app somewhere.
Try different keyboard. I've a suspicion that latest Google Keyboard is the culprit.
I was having some unexplainable with BBS (no locks, etc.) battery drain. Which can only be resolved (though temporarily) with reboot.
So, I installed alternative keyboard (Swype in my case) and using it. So far, second day I don't have battery drain.
Update
Please refer to the OP for update. Thanks all.
battery after reset
After a second factory reset, I did not install a lot of the apps which I suspect have something to do with my drain - including Swype, Dynamic Notifications, Nova Launcher, LightFlow, Task Manager, 2x battery, Lux, Notification Toggle, Dash Clock, Automateit. I have also set my location to device only with no location history and history. I have also disabled Google Now. I have not restored my photos, music and videos to the phone yet. I have disabled sync for Google Plus, Google Drive etc.. I have also disabled auto back up for Google Plus. I am on ART.
The battery life (with around 25 % left) was around 6 hours 30 minutes or a bit more but with close to 2 hours 40 minutes screen on time. The screen was the biggest draw. Android system comes in second with around 13%. This is obviously better than before where I managed to squeeze maybe a hour or 30 minutes more but with 2x battery turned on in the background. I mostly used the phone for battery checking, whatsapp, Feedly, web surfing. I played games for around 20 minutes. I was not on wifi most of the time. Is this battery performance normal?
Thanks in advance.

I have reset the phone three times. After the third attempt, the battery drain for Android System would go back up to 20% plus. By the test of elimination, I thought I narrowed down the possible culprit to Light Flow and Dynamic Notifications. I uninstalled both of them but the battery drain remained 20% plus.
Google was willing to replace my device. I asked them whether the battery drain is likely a hardware or a software issue or a combination of both. They said (to my surprise) it is hardware issue. It seems they have come across quite a number of similar cases. I always thought it was a bug within 4.4.2 or in the google apps such as Google Play Services etc. and could be fixed by a patch or something. The phone also means a lot to me as it was a gift from my gf. I just don't want to go through the hassle of replacing the device if it is a software problem but I guess I am running out of choices unless I decide to wait for the update. What do you guys think?
It's definitely not a hardware issue. If you Google it there's threads all over the place with all different makes and models of phones having the same problem and no one can figure out why, apart from it definitely seems something to do with Google services (GmsCore.apk)
Your best option is to root your phone and use app ops and turn location access off for every app that doesn't need it. (pretty much everything apart from maps and weather apps)

Alright so I think I'm ready to comment on my Verizon s7 edge's battery life, as well as post a little guide that hopefully helps improve other Verizon users battery life.
For starters when I first got my phone and let it settle in (after the two updates) I had consistent 4 hours SOT with pretty heavy idle drain. I started scouring the forums to try and find out how to help the battery life.
There were a couple of things that I found on the forums that did help: install greenify app and turn on aggressive doze option, put all the normal battery sucking apps that I use into greenify (ESPN, CBS, Play Music), set location to GPS only, turn off ALL scanning options that are literally hidden multiple places throughout the phone (bluetooth and wifi), turn off google location reporting, turn off samsung security report collection and transmitting function, turn off fast charging (especially since I only charge up at night while I'm sleeping), and a few other things that I'm probably forgetting. After all of this I was getting around 5 hours SOT with medium idle drain.
Like most people who have paid for Package Disabler Pro, I had originally tried freezing all the bloat right away and discovered worse idle drain than not freezing bloat apps. Therefore for most of my testing I had left everything unfrozen. After I had implemented all the other stuff listed above, I dived back into investigating the app freezing situation. I seem to have made a discovery after some extensive testing.
From what I can tell many of the bloat apps are attached to a process that continues to try and function once the app is frozen. Most of us long time android users at this point would say "duh" lol. What I figured out however was that I could reset the process by clearing the system data for each app right before freezing it. For good measure I also cleared the data for the app after I froze it. I tried to account for each app that I considered to be bloat or was simply samsung battery sucking, and every process that was connected to that app that made it work. Although I have probably not accounted for all of them, I have definitely created enough of a dent in them to account for really good minimum idle battery drain. My testing has shown that this data clearing method works, and I will provide the battery pics to prove it.
Before I I go any further, I want to make it clear that all battery tests differ according to the users activities. I always am on 4G, never on WIFI (I have unlimited data). I always use auto brightness. My activities include Camera usage, ESPN app, Youtube app, Bible app, lots of web surfing (tech sites), Amazon shopping app, Zillow app, Realtor app, and things along these lines. I do not play any games, or do heavy task orientated benchmarks, or use facebook or social media apps. Also I have not disabled anything that effects HD calling, Samsung Pay, or apps edge (i use these things). I have disabled AOD since I don't use it, as well as all wifi calling processes, and certain edge apps that I don't use.
NOTE 1: You should review the list of apps I have disabled BEFORE you disable them, to ensure you are not losing any functions that you use (aka always on display)
NOTE 2: The focus here is killing background battery drainage, with the screen on or off. I have found great results FOR MY USAGE. Your usage will be different. But the hope is that by killing some of that background drain you can achieve longer overall battery life.
Alright so lets jump into the proof pics

As you can see, for my usage I was able to go 2 days with 6 hours SOT. All I can say is this is for real, and it cant hurt to try out what I did and see if you get similar results. I was on 4G data all the time (no wifi) and I was indoors a lot (not a lot of direct sunlight). These things helped the battery some, but the idle drain is nearly non existent right now. I left my phone unplugged overnight last night and had NO BATTERY DROP in the course of 6 hours. Not a single percent.
So besides all the tips listed at the top of this post, here is what I did with Package Disabler Pro.
1. Go into Package Disabler Pro and find each one of these apps (picture of apps below and attached to the post is the xml import document)
2. For each app BEFORE disabling it hit the CLEAR DATA button. Then quickly hit the DISABLE button. I say do it quickly because some of the apps will try and re-initiate its data a second after you clear it. Whether or not this is an important detail or not I am not sure, just trying to be thorough in my explanation.
3. Verify that the app now shows no data or cache, and that it is disabled (all this info is available right there in the Package Disabler app).
4. After disabling all the apps restart your phone.
After feedback from users in this thread, I have discovered EZ Package Disabler Pro, which does the same thing as Package Disabler Pro but has better layout and features. Here are the steps to complete the process using EZ Package Disabler Pro:
1. Go into EZ Package Disabler Pro and find each one of these apps (picture of apps below and attached to the post is the xml import document)
2. For each app BEFORE disabling it hit the CLEAR DATA button (you can find the clear data function under the "more" section of each app). Then press the DISABLE button.
3. Verify that the app now shows no data or cache, and that it is disabled (all this info is available right there in EZ Package Disabler Pro).
4. After disabling all the apps restart your phone.
And that's it. That is all I did. Most of these apps that are disabled I spent much time researching and figuring out what they did and whether to disable. I have lost no functions of my phone's normal use.
I hope this is helpful to someone else. I am definitely enjoying this phone a lot more now that I have great battery life. Still not as good as the international version (exynos) but its close enough for me.
Cheers!
That's interesting - When I get some time I'll give it a shot. I just did a factory reset on my phone, and this time did not install Package Disabler Pro, and instead just disabled some annoying bloatware like NFL, some Verizon crap, Amazon, etc., none of the processes that I had disabled before. It's early on, but I actually see the performance of the phone to be much more responsive than before, and it actually looks like doze is working. I think there is definitely something to be said for blindly disabling a bunch of services thinking it's only for the better.

Absolutely agree. I definitely spent way too much time trying to figure out exactly what apps I should disable lol. But in the end it has definitely been worth it.
If you try it let me know your results. I will be attempting this on my dad's s7 edge when I see him next so I can try and verify it on my end as well. My dad lives 4 hours away so I don't see him very often.

It SHOULD go into doze mode automatically. Sometimes it does and sometimes it gets hung up and takes forever to go into doze. Basically Greenify has an option to try and put it into doze mode really quickly, thereby giving you much better standby time. Here is an article on it to better inform you on it.

Does package disabler pro really get rid of the stuff? Or is it just hiding it?
I know on rooted devices with Titanium, when something was frozen, it was as good as gone.
This doesn't seem to be the case here at all.

In my experience when I clear the app data and force disable it through package disabler pro, it is the same as freezing things through titanium. However titanium will always have better success rate because it has root and can break any processes that are attached to the app forcibly. Package disabler does work but it is still just a workaround for us folks stuck without root forever.
I'm just glad we have something lol

Ok so I factory reset my phone and noticed package disabler pro (Samsung) had a price next to it. Weird as I purchased it last fall (for my Note 5). I found another that's rated better and I thought if I have to pay (again) why not try something else? I bought EZ Package Disabler from the Play Store, installed it and manually disabled everything I don't want. Did not worry about clearing cache for each app as well. Kind of in a hurry to get my phone back LOL.
Restored all my apps from Play Store and took my phone off the wireless charger.
Got to my office this AM and noticed a first, battery at 100%.
Currently now off the charger for over 5 hours and 50 minutes, 25min of screen time and battery now is 93%. That's a first for this device LOL.
Can see in the battery discharge graph the nearly flat lines when the device is sleeping/dozing as it should be!
It may be fixed, finally!
Android system is 19 percent for now. Let's see after 2 or 3 days

So I went and paid for EZ Package Disabler Pro to give it a shot and I absolutely agree that it has a much better system in place to understand applications and processes. Also the feature that lets you see everything that is currently running is AWESOME! Good find.

Absoluetly agree about EZ Package Disabler. I prefer its layout and features. However I think some of the processes need to be reset before they are disabled. The only way I can reset them is to clear their data. EZ Package Disabler does not let you clear data from within the app. So I am using both EZ Package Disabler and Package Disabler lol

My almost 3 year old Samsung Note Edge keeps freezing 2-3 minutes after turning on, even without launching any app. Same behaviour happens even on Safe Mode. It just freezes, pressing on/off button doesn't trigger anything and the only way to turn it back on again is to physically remove the battery from the unit and replacing it back in, then powering the device on.
Each time this happens I notice the unit and battery gets hot.
The only time you can keep the phone on is if you enable ultra power savings mode within 2-3 minutes before it freezes. At that state it can actually last the entire day and can I use it to call, text, connect to Wi-Fi or Mobile Data and surf using the default browser and even launch twitter.
Not sure if this is a battery issue as I got new PowerBear batteries and as stated above, the phone is useable for the entire day as long as I can get it to Ultra Power Savings mode before it freezes.
Appreciate any help or suggestions. My phone is not rooted. Thank in advance.

To me it sounds like you've got something running in the background that shouldn't be.
Any suggestions how to isolate whatever that is? Or a way to at least to recover data whilst the phone is on ultra power savings mode? I tried installing Samsung Kies but it needs the phone to be on normal boot.

I would try turning off things like location trackers, auto updates (if you haven't), disabling Playstore, etc.
Do you have any add on apps that could cause this?
I tried Video Lan media player and had a heck of a time.
Got rid of it and all was well.
I love it on my PC though.
Short of that, maybe a full restore is in order?

I was trying to retrieve some photos this week and noticed a Samsung Cloud folder in my Gallery. which I havent seen there before. I remember signing on Samsung Cloud before my phone malfunctioned because I wanted to use it to backup my files (I'm due for phone replacement this year anyway). Is there some kind of correlation to this?
No I dont have the video lan media player installed.
I disabled ultra battery savings mode because I had to check the Gallery and now it wont even get past the Samsung Note Edge boot screen and either restarts or just freezes. It's at a point I just want to throw it.
Really disappointed, before switching to Samsung I was an apple fanboy, last one was an iPhone 4. Which I'm now using as a temp phone, it still works despite being in dead in the drawer for over 3 years.
I was looking to get the Note 8 but after this bruhaha, Google's Pixel 2 looks more appealing... they own the Android platform anyway so Im hoping their software updates go through more rigorous testing before it's released out.
Oh well. Good bye Samsung.
Greets lads,
For "TL/DR"s: Not gaining any battery improvements with root/xposed capable tools (Greenify/Amplify); losing important features like on-time notifications; need help on Greenify settings or alternatives for them.
I am facing an issue, in fact, i always did, when trying to follow battery tips people go for when they root their phones.
I've just recently rooted my Note 8 (Exynos), nevertheless, i always go for a self-controlled system on my phone rather than very modified Custom ROMs, either i modify my stock rom, or find a minimally touched one in the custom rom threads.
Usually, if i achieved massive battery improvements, i ended up with a lot of sacrifices. In previous phones (Note 3, Galaxy A3 2014, HTC M8), i managed to get twice the screen time and battery life when i set-up the usual procedures to , which are: De-bloat (what i dont need and is safe to get rid off), Xposed because of Greenify and Amplify (PowerNap too).
The issues that i would get at these times were delayed notifications i.e from messaging apps, delayed waking up from sleeps (my sleeping, not phone ones) cause the alarm would never make it on time. Now all these apps were white-listed from all the apps that are supposed to limit them.
Now with Samsung Oreo, things look way to weird. My alarm app (Timely) works flawlessly and wakes me up as supposed to, it's untouched by the Samsung Device Maintenance, it is not on the Greenify list, and on Amplify it's not even taken in to consideration as i use the only two features that it allows you in the non-donated version, to limit the wake-ups of Play Services.
However, many messaging apps (obviously white-listed), turned very strange. Many times im in front of my computer, talking on the same platforms already existent on my phone, and 20 minutes later, i open my phone, and i am bombarded by all the incoming communication that i already witnessed on the desktop. This doesnt make any sense.
First, i have already acknowledged them, i was texted on them, i replied, on the desktop. The fact that they show up on my phone means they probably make it in time on my phone, but my phone decides not to wake up. Sometimes it does this without opening the phone up, maybe after 20 to 30 minutes after.
My set-up is: Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (Exynos, SM-N950F), TWRP, rooted with Magisk v16.6, Xposed (Modules: Amplify, Greenify, MinMinGuard), Greenify is Donated version, Amplify is not (would love to, but impossible in my region due to racist google), and root permissive apps such as AdGuard (which is terrible), FX File Explorer (for obvious reasons), Trimmer fstab (not sure if i actually need it), Termux for root shell.
My questions is, WTH am i doing wrong.
BetterBatteryStats shows the usual output on root too, nothing major draining it, but no whatsoever gains of battery life compared to the unrooted past, i mean, 2h screen time with 24h battery life, pathetic, that was the default on my previous 4/5 year old phones, and when i set-up the usual rooted procedures, i would get 4/5h screen time in 48h of battery life.
Any tips on Greenify settings? Any tips for alternative/substitution apps for the ones i already use? (WakeBlock i.e never worked or made my phones unbootable)
Thanks in advance.
Totally feel you and I'm searching for an answer to this, too. I had Greenify installed via the discontinued Magisk module and Xposed, and it started getting REALLY wonky, freezing up and ****. After reading that a lot of people here don't think it's even necessary beginning with Oreo, I uninstalled it and now the lag on my OP3 is pretty horrible, even after freezing the bulk of my apps with TB.
I too would appreciate any advice that can be given... have a OP3 on OxygenOS Oreo 8.0, rooted with Magisk, have Xposed, have debloated everything I have found safe, and using Nova Launcher.
First off, I love the phone and I'll keep it, but ever since I got the phone I've been wondering why it's draining so much in standby. It's my first Samsung phone since 2011, so naturally I assume it's Samsung apps/services that drain? Especially since I don't use any new apps than on my other phones and in the battery stats it doesn't really show any user apps that use a lot.
Anyone has way to measure what system/user apps drain during standby? Or even better, any dev that could do a deeper dive into this?
For example, I just lost 32% battery while sleeping for about 8h, it has never been this much on any other of my previous phones (OnePlus Nord/Pixel 3a/Pixel 3/Pixel 2).
In fact, my OnePlus Nord with 815mAh more than the Flip3 is currently on last charge 3 days ago (it doesn't show me hours anymore) and 2h35m SOT and 25% battery left. On the Flip I just now got 17h with 1h30m SOT and 5% left. Settings all similar besides location accuracy turned off for the Flip as that was a massive drain.
Something must be unintentionally draining the battery during standby and I really hope one of you smart guys can find it. Or Samsung fixes it with an update..
I disabled AOD and any unnecessary account sync processes. It's only drained about 2% in standby the last 5 hours, but there are still some things to finish configuring.

The first step in improving the battery is to remember that this isn't any other phone. You may want to explore what options are available and what all you have enabled. By default, almost everything is on to show off all the cool new features that make this a Flip 3, not a OnePlus Nord.

Not true. Samsung has a bunch of features still in use.
Settings -> Advanced features -> Motions and gestures has a whole collection of things that are still running when the screen is off (and most aren't useful to the Flip, but came from "another phone").
Settings -> Cover screen allows you to disable turning on the screen when notifications arrive, if that is not something you need.
Also, unless you are using the app to lower the refresh rate, you may be running a bit high when idle.

Yes I'm using that app and have it set to 48-96Hz
Appreciate the help, I believe there must be something that's unintentionally draining and while I went through every single setting in the beginning, I'm still very new to OneUI (and also impressed how far it came from the TouchWiz ****show)
One thing I always forget is that a lot of those features are running services and polling when they're enabled. Even though I'm not touching the screen with the tap to wake enabled, it's constantly waiting for that tap when it's asleep. Any one isn't a big impact, but Samsung has so many "convenience" features that I end up wasting battery to never use.
The calibration period is also horrible. Android 11 is slow to calibrate the battery and Samsung is worse. You can get a good idea of what is draining battery by going to Settings -> Battery and device care -> Battery. That may help find out if it's a renegade app.
One thing Asus does that I wish Samsung would embrace is Auto-start management. Some apps aren't efficient at polling for notifications and more than once have been the cause of major drain.
Another one even Samsung admits to be a source of drain is the edge panels. If you don't use them, it's best to kill the entire feature.

I just assumed it's not a big impact as OnePlus has those as well, for example draw a "V" on screen for flashlight or ">" to skip song besides the regular double tap to wake and it never appeared to be a battery issue for me before.

OnePlus also optimizes them better than brand new Samsung firmware. I had a lot of stuff enabled on the Note 20 Ultra that I won't be using for a month or two now.
Some apps are excluded, but it will let you know if it's something not included with the phone.
Another good idea is to uninstall, disable, or "adb uninstall" any bloat you don't use. Besides clearing up space in the app drawer, it kills off services you don't use. A lot of the apps will run services even before you sign in, even though they aren't actually handling any data.

If you have the unlocked version, they allowed uninstall for a lot of apps that were previously locked. A lot can also be downloaded later from Google Play or the Galaxy Store if you change your mind.
I use Firefox, so I uninstall Samsung Internet and Chrome. Members and Health are two big ones that like to run those "please enable us" services. It's a lot of deciding what you might use versus what you can live without.

So far I don't have much hope sadly. Whole day currently at home and not using the phone much and it's looking like in the screenshot (screen off, loosing almost 2.7% per hour, as comparison my OnePlus is at 0.9% per hour)

HOLY **** I would love to have this battery life. I'm literally not doing anything with the phone and just loosing so much. I'm pretty much the opposite of a power user, so my phone is in standby most of the time and loosing so much is pretty frustrating.
EDIT: I might have an idea why it's so bad for me, I don't really have reception in my apartment (as you can see on my screenshots), so I assume it's constantly trying to get better receptions, I see 2 bars sometimes, but most of the time 0. I'll keep my phone at the window where I have reception for the rest of the day and see if it makes a difference. (Although the OnePlus has also bad reception, but does have a different carriers SIM card)

Dependencies, dependencies, dependencies... some of those apks just sit there unless needed.
Do not disable apks/services unless you know what they do and what, if any, their dependencies are. Go too far and you'll end up in a boot loop.
What works for others probably isn't ideal for you.
Package Disabler is a better option as you easily toggle apks on/off as needed.
Screen off the serial offenders tend to be Google backup Transport, Framework and any cloud apps.
Try disabling Google play Services at night and see if that helps. You may need to disable Find my Device first as System Administrator if disable is greyed out.
Disabling play services also kills Gmaps and Playstore which are know hogs. Gmail as well to a lesser extent.
Google Firebase, do you need it? If not disable.
Carrier, Google, Samsung and app feedback, disable.
Using power management can cause erratic behavior and not solve the problem. Treat each power hog on a case by case basis instead. It takes a lot longer but yields a cleaner, more stable setup.
Play with it, go through -all- the settings. It's actually quit fun to explore and almost impossible to crash and burn.
