Hello to all,
I released my first free Android App on Play Store.
My concern is that it'll may be removed because of fake/invalid reviews or similar.
The following reviews are considered valid or they can cause its removal or an account ban form the Play Store?
- I rate my own App with the same account used as developer
- My wife/colleagues/kindred rate my App with their personal Google account using the same IP I use to login in the Play Console
- My colleagues rate my App with their personal Google account using the same IP I use to login in any Google service (e.g. Gmail, Drive, ...)
- Rate from users set as App tester in the previous version of the App inside a close group (alpha), independently of the IP used
I already searched for an official information on the Web, without success.
(Please tell me If I posted in the wrong/inappropriate forum or directly move this question to the right place for me)
Thanks a lot!

Let the community of users that download the app make their own legitimate reviews. Let your work speak for itself, don't try to cheat. If your app is worth its salt, you won't need to pad your app's description with false reviews on its Playstore page.

You completely misunderstood my question.
I have that concern in order to avoid any Google policy violation, not to violate them!
I'll never try to cheat.
So, please post a new answer.
Thanks

Sorry, I guess I don't see the reason for your concern. If you are aware of the things that are considered violations and if you don't do those things, what is the problem?

The problem may occurs when till I operates following the Google policies, others (e.g. a colleague) post a review to my App using the same IP I use to login to the Play Console (even if I asked them to don't do it).
In this case, Google may think that there is a link between my account and his (due to the same IP), so Google may think that I created a second account for that purpose.
The same problem occurs if you click on an Adv from the same IP used by the developer: in this case you can also incur a suspension of the account!
I hope I have been clearer.

I get it, but, what are you really wanting to ask/know? We can't do anything to prevent your colleagues, friends and family from posting reviews from your IP so what are you asking for? What do you really need from us?

i'm sorry if this is against any of xda rules, or shouldn't be posted here. but i'm an android developper having a top app in my country (1 million + downloads on play store) and the thing is every time my app seems to be top app, google removes it and sends me a warning + they suspend my account. i'm pretty sure the app is virus free, and does not contain any privacy violation. in fact there are several other apps offering the same features ( or at least trying to ) and i cant contact google from a 3rd world country.
i'm not sure if a competitor is running a script on the report page , or google removes it by mistake. could any of you guys help me try to figure this out?
PM me for further info
thanks

I'm pretty sure that if you are able to create an app and publish it "from a 3rd world country" then you are more than able to contact Google and resolve this yourself.
Sir that is a strong title, Please take it up with Google.
Thank you & Thread closed.
Today I released new app WebScrapbook. This app helps to quote some part of web site easily.
Main target of this app is Twitter and Tumblr user but I welcome any feedback.
[APK]
ver1.0: View attachment WebScrapbook.apk
[Google Play]
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=su.im.octoberapps.webscrapbook
[Youtube video]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmCflEBjNu0
[Explanation]
While you are browsing website, have you ever wanted to quote and post a piece of the web page to Twitter, Tumblr or other apps?
In order to do so, you have to save screen shot to local storage, crop image using some app, make a note of original URL and finally post them together. But we think it is too many steps.
This app simplifies this task a lot.
WebScrapbook trims web page and send the cropped image to other apps like SNS or Email.
When you post contents from other source, it is necessary to clarify the source of quotation.
So WebScrapbook automatically copies the web page's URL to clipboard.
You can paste it as source of quotation of the cropped image.
One more significant feature is that WebScrapbook can pick up and introduce your Twitter, Tumblr posts made with this app.
If you have Twitter or Tumblr account, please input your account name in this app.
We don't require password nor authentification process. By just setting your account name,
WebScrapbook will find your posts and show them to other WebScrapbook users.
With WebScrapbook, let's make more posts and get more exposure!
By downloading WebScrapbook, you agree the following Terms of Use.
Please read them carefully before downloading WebScrapbook.
[Terms of Use]
- It is prohibited to use WebScrapbook to post contents which threaten public order and morals.
- It is prohibited to use WebScrapbook against web site which prohibits quotation.
- It is prohibited to copy whole website and post it using WebScrapbook.
WebScrapbook can be used only to quote a part of web site.
- You shall be solely responsible for the consequences of using WebScrapbook.
The developer of WebScrapbook does not have any responsibility to the consequences of using WebScrapbook,
It is a fine app, but it gets funding by ads.
I will pay $1, $2 or more for an app but I hate getting ads.

Hello AstroDigital,
Thank you for your comment. We thought ads in this app was modest and there was not much demand for the version without ads. But we will respect your opinion and consider releasing $1 version without ads.
I got report that this app does not work on MotoX. It seems that crop area selection/resizing does not work.
I am struggling to debug this issue as I don't have MotoX device.
If someone could tried this app with MotoX and let me know the behavior, I really appreciate it.
I would like to know
-If user touch corner point of square area, line color should change from red to blue. Does this work? Or line color keeps red?
*Currently, MotoX is excluded from supported list on google play but apk is attached on this thread.
The following is the latest apk:

Unfortunately it still not working, I downloaded the new APK that you posted. And it still the same problem as before, is not allowing us Moto X users to manipulate the handles for the cropped area. It stays the color red and does not change color.

Thank you for your information. I really appreciate it.
Based on the information, I guess my issue is same as the following one:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/...cationinwindow-getlocationonscreen-gethitrect
I noticed that Motorola website has information about SDK including emulator for their device. However, SDK itself is not on website now....
http://www.motorola.com/sites/motodev/SDK_Addons/installation.html
I'll try to find a way to debug this.
By the way, if someone has a device which has the same issue (cropping area cannot be adjusted), I appreciate information about the device name and Android version.
Nice idea.
I hope you find a solution

Hey all I have created a new GPS spoofing app called "Fake GPS Controller" available on Google Play. (can't post link due to new xda account registration, you'll have to search for it)
It has a built in floating joystick which allows you to directly control where you want to move (simulates walking or running). Also, it does NOT require "Mock Locations" to be activated in developer options if you are rooted and install it as a system app to the /system/priv-app folder.
Hopefully this doesn't run afoul of the forum rules, yes I'd like to get some attention for my app, but also some feedback, and discuss improvements.
I have 100 codes available for free download, I will post some below, and can post more or do some sort of BETA if there's interest. Lastly, please if you download it and you like, please rate the app favorably. Thanks!
Oh, one more thing, the app has issues with rubber banding location on some? newer phones (I think it's an Android Marshmallow issue). From my research I don't think this problem is specific to my app, it sounds like all the spoofing apps are having this problem. I'm actively looking for solutions to this problem and would love to fix this in my app. I've read posts suggesting disabling Fused Location provider but would like to find a more simple approach if there exists one that I can incorporate directly into the app..

There are extensive possibilities to edit an XDA account. Your can specify and fiddle with almost everything. But:
The essential option 'delete account' is missing!
This should have been implemented directly after the 'register account' functionality. Actually even before that!
Please fix this! (In fact, this is not a 'feature request' but a bug report.)
Regards.

This may not be something that is clearly pointed out for many but, it's available.
If you go to the following link...
https://www.xda-developers.com/contact/
... You'll see various options available to you like the "Change username or cancel an account."
If that preferred method doesn't work out for you, you can also contact an administrator like @MikeChannon via PM or email and he'll be more than happy to help you out with account management/support.
Good Luck!

Unless asked to do so, PLEASE don't PM me regarding support. Sent using The ClaRetoX Forum App on my Apple Macintosh.

Sorry, it's NOT available. What you tell me to do, is to fill out the contact form. That's not what is widely considered as a web interface.
Or would you say, the 'register new user' functionality was complete by saying: "Well, just send an email to the administrator and beg for an account."
I suppose not. I'm disappointed by that answer.

Yeah, that's better than nothing. But:
I can edit my user profile and settings just like that, while I am logged in. I don't have to type in my user name and email again and again. How does that work? Well: because I am logged in already!
But the said deletion process totally ignores that I am logged in. I have to enter my details again and then have a verification... yaaawn.
Why do sites like XDA put up so many artificial obstacles for people to get away.
The easier a process is, the more likely people will follow it. So, if the process was just one or two clicks away, your could boost the number of canceled accounts. Wouldn't that be something?

Well small sites and sites that moderate content before it shows in open forums may allow user controlled account deletion. However, many larger sites and sites that permit user content to show instantly, generally do not allow users/members to delete their own accounts. Why? well because it opens the door to assive amounts of abuse. A user could post all kinds of bad stuff and then delete the account thus making the culprit uncatchable, unstoppable. You see an account deletion that is compliant with GDPR meansno trace is left of the account. That means remaining posts cannot be tracked and cannot even be found since the user database no longer recognises the account. So we would have no idea where the user had posted or how many times... important if it is abusive or spam content.
In addition user controlled account deletion would render anning users effectively useless because the user wouldb still need access to the sites account deletion system even if banned. It would allow them to delete their account and simply create another one immediately.
We have multiple thousands of users online at a time, 60000 posts per day and because we cannot monitor all that in real time we have to have some control over what the "bad" users are doing. Changing user names and creating / deleting accounts every other day are things we would be 100% guaranteed to suffer from if we handed over direct control. We have massive numbers of users and inevitably we are constantly challenged by hackers, DDOS attackers, spammers and other abusers and the ability to create and delete accounts with ease is not a good idea for us or the "good" users who would suffer the ill effects if we changed things.
Mike
Thanks for the clarification.
Does anyone have a phone locator app from the play store?
Hello and good day, @MRC_MR . Welcome to XDA! I hope you'll always get the support you require.
However, prior to your next posting, if you are posting a Question Thread, please post it in the Q&A forum. If it is a question within a device forum, using the prefix "Question" is comparable if the option is available.
I've moved your thread to General Q&A.
Thanks for your cooperation!

If you are using an Android device, Google's Find My Device (although I'm pretty sure finding it on https://www.google.com/android/find doesn't require having the app) and I know friends that have Lookout that offer the same functions...
misunderstood the question -- I thought in the context of if it is lost...
Google Maps; You can either share your literal GPS location (latitude & longitude) or share location using a link for a limited or unlimited amount of time....It's what I do/use when needed....
I've heard of Life360 which is very family oriented, but everyone has to be using the app for it to work I imagine....

huh? I'm sorry, I don't understand. Are you asking "And, for example, how are you supposed to do it in [theory] if you were in a forest?"
I've never used Life360, so I can't say, but in Google Maps, you hold any non-street/road location (has to not be a street or road; learned this stupid caveat the hard way that confused me for like 20 minutes figuring out), and either click "share" button or go into the details (raise frame on the bottom), and your GPS location in latitude & longitude will show up in one of the entry details -- even "in the forest" or for any location (I imagine)...
That's how I imagine I would go about it in that circumstance....
