My htc u11 is still running Android 8.0, my software number is 2.33.163.9 ( from sfr France), someone has an idea about the date of deployment of android pie 9.0 ?
Wow no update yet? If you havent got it by now probably you will never get it. Dont worry you are not missing much. I downgraded to oreo cause pie its not worth it. Half ass update.
Yeah. Too many bugs so is better not to update.

I had installed Nougat as soon as it was available for my S7 and never really liked the battery life. Maybe I could have tried to fix it but instead I downgraded back to 6.0.1 through Odin.
So far every thing is fine. But the first and only update that I received is the 7.0 upgrade again. Ofcourse I didn't install it this time. But it looks like I'm not getting any other updates or patches now.
When I look at the Security patch level, that is from Dec. 2016.
I think I don't get any updates for 6.0.1 now because the is an upgrade waiting to be downloaded and installed.
Is that how it works or am I missing something.
Thanks.

Install the last (newest) 6.0.1 ROM, and that is the last update you will get for it, it's not like Windows
If you want to stay up to date with security updates you MUST be running the latest available ROM, which is 7.0
Thanks.
I have the latest rom I could find. And was hoping I would get at least the latest security updates for 6.0.1.
Looks like I will have an other look at 7.0 again soon.

Nope, mobile OS's are discontinued once a new major OS version is released
iOS/WP/Android all the same
Hi,
I bought this htc u11 last month when i was in India. It's an unlocked version. However, i see that htc has already rolled out the os update and November patch through ota. Now, I'm in Ireland. I'm checking for system updates but unable to get one and the news state that os has started to roll out for sprint htc u11. Does country change affect the updates? I was using vodafone in india and now I'm using lyca. Also, i initially bought google pixel 2 xl but there were loads of glitches. I did love the device but due to hardware issues, more time requirement to sort and since i did not have much time had to have it returned. However, it was returned and bought u11. I'm putting this up since i have read that google release out android updates. So would be some kind of avengers or something? I'm eagerly waiting for the update since i have seen it unlocks lots more functions on the device.
Awaiting your response. And apologies for such a ling convo.
Updates are for the phone not the carrier. You should be able to get the update via WiFi if its available.
If the phone has been rooted then you'll have to reset it back to stock before the update will show.
I just updated to Android 8 ( stock rom) and it became sluggish... It was way more fluid with Android 7... Don't update yet!!!
BTW any suggestions??
I don't think I can downgrade back to Android 7 being no root ???
Is anyone else disappointed that the security patch updates are taking so long to be released. . We're 3 months behind now.

I just got a system update notice an hour ago. Gonna install it tonight.
I've got a HK U11 plus. What region is your phone from?
Cheers
No update for CID 060 yet
Got a new update today, Taiwan version
Software number 1.24.709.7
Android security patch still Dec.1 2017
Didn't specify what is new in patch note
Has anyone tried to contact HTC? I'm very disappointed with the security updates. I thought that HTC was going to be better than LG
I updated to Pie and I hate it. I want to go back to the latest updated version of Oreo just before the Pie upgrade. I'm with Telstra in Australia and can only find the Oreo version form Telstra from September 2017. Is it possible to install that version and apply updates right up just before Pie?
Are you concerned that factory images that do not list a specific carrier or region are not suitable for installation on a Telestra device? For example, 8.1.0 (OPM2.171026.006.G1, Jul 2018) does not call out a region or carrier. The initial Pixel 2 factory image and several later images do not list a carrier or region.
Perhaps you can back up your current install, try the November 2018, and see you like it better. If not, attempt to downgrade to 8.1.0 (OPM2.171026.006.G1, Jul 2018). If the downgrade fails, reinstall your 9.0 backup.
For what it's worth, I have not done this and recommend searching the forum for people who have tried to downgrade: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-2/help/to-downgrade-android-9-0-t3850398
Hope this helps somewhat.

Pie was released in October. The September update would be the most recent image for Oreo. You can install it but if you do, you won't be able to update your phone again. All future updates will be Pie. What I'm saying is you won't be able to install future updates without installing the Pie update first. There is no more Oreo after September.
Yeah I'm not interested in upgrading any further than the last Oreo version. So many features of pie are just not to my liking. I can't back up my current install because I haven't unlocked my bootloader or rooted yet. Mainly because Oreo was so good there was no real reason for me to bother. Now I'm forced to, to get rid of this terrible version of android.

What I think @robocuff means is that you will not receive any security patches going forward. All subsequent patches will be for Pie only.

Yeah I understand that. That's why I wanted to get the latest Oreo before pie so I was as up to date as possible. I don't care about updating any further. I just want a decent ROM, which in my opinion, Pie is far from.
Thanks for the input guys.
I've a TA-1055 in the UK and haven't had an update since the August security patch 8.1.
I know others have the Android 9 update but I'm still waiting for the OTA to arrive. There are some features I like in the latest version but there are plenty of posts on here about problems and how to rollback to 8.1.
Like with every version if updates go smoothly and all working fine then yes updating is always recommended but Pie still seems buggy over all.
Is it worth upgrading yet?

Don't know if it is worth upgrading. I am also in UK on TA-1055 Oreo 8.1 but Oct security patch which came OTA. Still no sign of OTA update to 9 and HMD support is useless regarding info about UK versions getting it. They keep saying it takes time to roll out.

No real issues on mine, very happy with Pie.
But as this forum shows, YMMV.
No issues whatsoever on Pie, here. The only problem I have with the phone right now is that the brightness doesn't go below 16%, which isn't related to the Pie update, according to reddit.

I have an issue with camera... When taking a photo and trying to view it from within the app... the camera app just stop responding...
I did not have this issue on Oreo.

not have this problem with 3.39b on ta-1046
Not worth it if you like being a maybe semi newbie super user with this, because after it you'll become an iSheep.
As with any new phone I always disable most of the stock Google apps from the start. Just thought I'd re-enable the main Google app and reboot into safe mode.
Bosh! Now I get the update notification for Android 9 and ran the install plus received all the latest security updates.
Main instant issue on Pie is the search bar that cannot be removed without using a new launcher or rooting..Bugger
OTA Pie arrived on my UK TA-1055
Just to note that I got the OTA Pie update here in the UK on a TA-1055 last night. I was on 8.1.0 August before that.
It came through with the November security update, the December update came through straight after.
All seems to be working fine with no factory reset or out like that.
No issues with mine, but nothing to write home about either. Android 9.0 is meh in general. Don't stress so much about it.
I upgraded from Oreo w/ Oct SP to Pie w/ Dec SP. Is it worth the upgrade? I'll let the Pie battery stats speak for itself ? (n.b. I fully wiped /data by factory reset from recovery then restored from Google cloud backup).
