If you are looking to mod the software in any way yes don't get the s8 u. You'll want a F model. But still not as good imo as others
Very kind and helpful and yes I do prefer mod , root and if at all posible custom recovery. Living in the U.S. and locked bootloaders of couse as you know prevents TWRP and as you mentioned the F version I understand why. Being a Sprint customer on CDMA , well you know. .. Anyway, as much as I flash, mod ,port and use xposed TWRP is a must. Thanks for the advice, peace.

I'm not a pro, but my experience with the combination file is that you extract the .tar file and put it into Odin AP section....that's all you need.

I did that and it works but then it takes me to the Factory Binary screen and then the settings window. When I restart it, it loops back to the Settings window. If I had the other files mentioned above, I think that's what its missing.

You factory reset within that binary. Once rebooted again after factory reset from settings not android recovery. You can flash any bit 7 firmware u u1 or w
You need to download a firmware for it from updato or Sam mobile are any other filer place of your choice for firmwares.
We can't use this combination firmware until we have the bit 7 edl files, correct?

My rooted Samsung Galaxy On5 (sm-g550t) is stuck on the black and white SAMSUNG logo boot screen, up at the top left in red is the message : "Custom binary blocked by FRP lock".
I cannot boot into recovery at all, but I CAN boot into download mode, and when connect it to a PC where Odin can "see" it. So that's good I guess.
Things I have tried so far:
1. Reflashing TWRP - FAIL IN ODIN (it worked before!)
2. Downloading new recovery from here and flashing in ODIN. FAIL IN ODIN (https://idlekernel.com/flash-tools/firmware/on5ltetmo_SM-G550T/G550TUVU1APF1/)
3. Recovery in KIES (does not accept my s/n and model combo)
This happened after I tried to partition the drive for use with the Marshmallow "adoptable storage" using directions from this web page.
http://www.modaco.com/news/android/...e-adoptable-storage-on-your-s7-s7-edge-r1632/
I DID do an nandroid backup before all of this happened, but without recovery mode it won't do me much good.
1. Any suggestions. 2. does anyone have the stock firmware tar that I can flash in odin to see if it works? Sammobile does not have firmware for the SM-G550t, sadly.
I really need your help. I can't find anything anywhere that has worked.

Hi Friends,
Can you share the SM-G550T firmware link to me.
Thx
Yo, I got you. Watch my youtube tutorial on how to fix this:

I also included all necessary files (yes, including the firmware files that aren't available yet in sammobile)
There aren't any files linked, the link is dead and it seems to be a spam shortening service.

Usually the stock .tar firmwares are uploaded as a .zip to make the file smaller, extract it and you should have a .tar.md5 or a .tar, if it's .tar then you may have to extract that also to get to the .tar.md5.
Yes, typically the region matters due to differences in networks in each region.

Here is a zip file of the current stock tmobile rom. TMB_G935TTMB4APK1
The zip contains 4 files:
1. BL
2. AP
3. CP
4. CSC
This way you can choose what you want to flash.
Here it is >>>>>> TMB_G935TTMB4APK1
Here is just the modem >>>>>>>>APK1 MODEM
Make sure when using odin you put the files in the correct slots..
BL = BL (bootloader and/or kernel)
AP = AP ( main software with all stock apps)
CP = CP ( modems)
CSC = CSC ( customer service version, Sales code data, Pit File)
easy. Now remeber that if you flash the BL (bootloader) you might not be able to revert back to a previous version. Use at you own risk. I am not responsible if you mess your phone up or destory the world.
This is here to help out.. I might be new to this S7 EDGE forum, but iam not new to the Samsung Galaxy family of phones and other forums on here..
can u please provide google drive link for it????

This is not a modified stock rom. This is bone stock, just broken down into 5 parts so you can choose what you want to install onto your phone. Most dev use just the ap and modified it. This lets you just update the ap, cp without loading the latest bl so you dont lose root.
As with any latest update from T-Mobile, be careful what you update as you might lose root and not be able to downgrade to a previous rom.. This is mainly due to the update to the BL file..

There is HOME CSC and CSC. If he used the wrong one originally, it will wipe the data and will not give the standard T-Mobile data service symbol.

Thanks OP, your CP file worked beautifully.
What is the difference between some of the OTA having TMB vs TUVU in their versions? Is it some sort of region identifier? My original OTA update was the TUVU version and I'm wondering if it makes a difference in using the CP file from the TMB variant, etc.
Thanks in advance guys!
Hey all. I didn't know you can't root the APK1 firmware. I updated my phone for 3 to there be firmware but didn't like battery performance so I flash back to the TMB G935U API3 firmware, that battery performance is much better than T-Mobile firmware. I like the white page and less bloatware.

I will upload it later today after work. You might be better off downloading the whole file. It is good to have it in case you need it. Its a small file.
Where could I find the stock boot.img for this phone? I had rooted it via the modified boot.img(That annoyingly makes the Governor Performance by default, otherwise I'd have no issue keeping this but I can't) and I want the stock boot.img just in case I want to go back to stock to sell this phone or something other then that.
I tried looking for it but I did not find it. I'm sorry if it was simple and I just was blind and didn't where to download it
Model: G930T
Baseband Version: G930TUVU4APK1
Build Number: MMB29M.G930TUVU4APK1
As stated in root method
You need to download trickster mod in app store set the governor to interactive and check mark set kernel on boot
That's the most necessary fix and boom works golden .
Other wise down load the stock Odin tar file and extract it to folder and only flash the stock boot image you'll have to extract it from the whole firmware download .

That wasn't an issue. I know how to do this. My phone is completely functional and normal. However if I were to sell my s7 I would need to have it back to stock because an average person wouldn't know how to do this and shouldn't if not necessary.
But anyway, thank you for the stock image.

THIS METHOD UNROOTS AND GOES BACK TO COMPLETE STOCK. Go to http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model and search up SM-G930T. Download all the files then extract the zip files. Put your phone in download mode and open up Odin on your computer. The folder should have an AP, CP, BL, CSC and HOMECSC file. In Odin, press the corresponding buttons and select the file for that button (ex: AP button, and select the AP file. Flash ALL the files. For the CSC I think the HOMECSC is the T-Mobile CSC which I think affects mobile networks. I just use the regular CSC. Flash and wait for your phone to reboot. It should show the lock with the (Custom) but that should disappear after a reboot or just go to dev options and disable OEM unlock. Just ask if you need assistance.

Somewhat, yes. I had some S7 boot/recovery files that were laying around (Unidentified but they worked for me) that I obtained from a S7 FRP Unlocking tool (My friend works at a phone shop, so that's how I originally obtained this)
Here are the downloads for the s7 files I used (Boot.img)
Although* My s7 is experiencing issues however the issues started before flashing this boot.img , so it may not be related. But if you do have any issues then it quite obviously is related.

EDIT: I believe that it(the boot.img) is from G930TUVE2APD7

Ah so unfortunate. I'm pretty sure they have it since I have used it recently whenever bricking my phone. I also have a T-Mobile S7. Last I checked they had up to the December security update. Idk glad to help anyways.

Please, don't overshare! Leave some of the magic to be discovered
So how do I turn this into root access on my g892u?
Is this file for flashing in Odin? Please elaborate for those of us who lack expertise.
Thanks a million to anybody who is working on a root for this amazing phone!!
Anyone try this yet? And I assume this is the engineering BL. Based off the title, so wouldn't we still need someone like chainfire to release root for the device? Also I wonder if this is for 892A or 892U.
To many unanswered questions.
I flashed this and it did work for the T-Mobile 892U variant. However all it appears to be is the unlocked/engineering bl and nothing more. It does seem to be a step in the right direction. I was successfully able to flash back to stock afterward so we do at least have that small comfort that the stock images are out. I tested flashing the s8 and s8 plus images and there's no compatibility between this and them. If anyone can find anything more I'll use my phone as the guinea pig for it.
If someone has the 892a like myself and we are on bootloader 2, we don't currently have Odin files to return to stock. The only files available are BL1. I assume the u fw is still on the same BL as the released Odin files.
It is. Have you tried flashing this and then following up with the fw for the u to see if it can put the a on the u fw? And last I looked you do have Odin files for the a. Let me find the link.

Those are ota zips posted, the a Odin files are still BL1, so we can't use them anymore. And I have not tried flashing u for that exact reason. The inability to get back.
And a locked bootloader...

The bootloader doesn't need to be unlocked to reflash fw w Odin. That's the point of having the Odin files.
How does that work, having multiple bootloaders? I've never had to deal with that before.
You don't have multiple bootloaders.s, you would flash the engineering BL in place of our current. But again there is no way to revert right now.
So I have the a active I understand I cannot revert back but will this achieve root?

Theoretically it could but we would need a way to implement SU you can try this and then install SuperSU but I have a feeling that we need a binary built for this phone.
If what you are asking is if only flashing this file and Odin will give you root the answer is no however it is the first step to root assuming that the Eng bootloader allows root. I won't test this or go any further until there are Odin files released for bootloader 2
Had a feeling that would be the case, I didn't want to try anything until I knew for sure. If we're on BL2 wouldn't this never technically work since it's BL1?

Infyrno was able to flash it to his 892u per his post, I'm not sure what BL he was on, or what BL the 892u is at perhaps T-Mobile is still on BL1
Help me please?
I'm looking to root my phone, and got here with all my looking. Can someone point me in the right direction from here? It's my understanding that this isn't all I need, or is it?

You are correct this is only the Eng bootloader. We do not have full root confirmed yet.
This isn't even an "engineering" bootloader, it's just the one from the factory firmware called "combination" on the various sites online. It's the active version of the same one used to root the s8 s8+ and n8
The real engineering bootloader and boot won't boot on our phones, as somehow the engineers devices are marked for it
I can't find much info about this phone, is it possible to root it in a similar manner to the other J7 variants?
Please someone help!
I know that most of you genius cell phone programming people have the nicest newest phones but some of us need to purchase the lower-end ones because its all we can afford. And because I can only afford this phone with its tiny little 16 gig bull stuff I really really would appreciate it tremendously if you guys could take the time out of your day to find out a way to root my device. Please someone one I'm begging you.
Really interested in rooting J7 Crown
I'm also interested in rooting my J7 crown. I bought 2 more for my kids as well. Going to be using them with google fi so I don't want all the samsung/tracphone/straight talk software, just a clean install of basic android.

Did some digging around trying to figure out the specs on this phone:
Chipset: Exynos 7884
CPU: 1.5GHz Octa-core
GPU: Mali G71
RAM: 2GB
Internal Storage: 16GB
(source: mobitabspecs.com)
I also found this about the Exynos 7884:
The Exynos 7884, meanwhile, has the same setup as the Exynos 7885. Two Cortex-A72 cores are accompanied by six Cortex-A53 cores, but with a lower clock speed.

Look around online I think you can use adb

I obtained an inoperable device from a friend. He tried rooting, tried flashing, even tried to flash a factory binary thinking he could circumvent Straight Talk's ridiculous bootloader unlock policy, but in the end, he pretty much bricked it. It wouldn't boot into recovery, it wouldn't boot into download mode, and it was stuck in some sort of device test mode. I was able to find out that in that factory binary mode, Odin was able to recognize the device and connect to it. I flashed the BL, AP, CP, and CSC files in Odin 3.13 I think was the version. Now it's back to stock. On the plus side, doing so removed the Google account associated with the phone. I am trying to pull the 'boot.img' file so you can patch it.

Hey Trip do you have the firmware you flashed for the j7 crown? I sure could use it? pm me if you can
Not being able to root this thing is terrible. There are firmware files for it out on the Internet now, but I have not been able to make any progress with working on this thing.
