Hello everybody.
Had been dealing with camera faulty error message. Did 200 picture a day ago, and in the morning, my camera did not want to focus on a far object but did focus on the close ones.
The selfie camera worked OK.
After a day of unknown. the back main camera stop working fully. Just a black screen and saying faulty error. After the day it just stops working and always says the camera had closed want to send an error report.
After that, even the selfie camera had stopped working, so I got no camera, Tried everything, even went from 8.1 to Android P. But nothing.
Talk to Google, and they said that it is known issue and will replace my phone, But due to not having one single paper for the phone. (long story) Can not get the warranty.
So my only solution is to fix it my self. I bought the new camera for PIXEL 2. and Today I got it.
I removed the screen, when via JerryRIGEverythning. And did the change.
But my luck, the replacement camera is malfunctioning and it is just going left and right. So I'm stuck until I get a new one. The company already sent me a new one.
But now my selfie is working again, but my main camera is working bearly.
For the guys that have the same issue, It appears that all we need is a new camera. The phone then works.

-adhesive for waterproof LCD 5 eur

some days ago I got my Mix 2s (Global Stable 9.5.4.0. , yesterdays OTA 9.5.19.0). Everthing seems to be fine, except the front camera: When I select the front camera only the second rear camera always appears. The Same in Google Duo for example. I don´t know if it is a Hardware or a Software Problem. Although the entry for the front camera is displayed in the CTI, the test can not be performed because the device is not responding. What can I do to fix it? The OTA update to 9.5.19.0 did not change anything.

Exact same problem. Got the phone June 11. Updated immediately to 9.5.19.0. Front camera displaying same problem.

Exact same for me as well. Worked on the first 2 days (out of the box). But now it's gone.
If I click to switch to the front camera, it stays on the rear camera (slightly zoomed in).
Same issue here after updating to latest version 9.5.19.0. Now I have to wait 15 days to be able to unlock the bootloader to flash another rom.. :crying:
Unless there is a way to flash the old version of miui with a locked bootloader?
Works fine on 9.5.19.0

Hi - think I've got the same restriction. Was trying to unlock my Mix 2S last night, but couldn't get anywhere - as the Mi Unlocker software wouldn't recognise my phone (when connected via USB). I didn't know you had to wait 15 days - is this standard?
I was planning to install Android P - to see if this would bring the front camera back.

Yes, front camera still doesn't work. I hope for Android P Update.
Same issue here. Got the phone end of june. Front camera stopped working after a couple days.
Not sure if it's a Software or a Hardware issue though ..
I have the chinese 6/64 version of mi mix 2s.
Today I flashed the latest global miui 10, but the camera still doesn't work.
I'm not sure whether it happened after an update or maybe after it fell to the ground...

Exactly same issue here on my Mix2s. Has anybody contacted Xiaomi and got a response or what have you guys done to resolve? Have you bought a replacement front camera module and installed and has that fixed it?
This is the second hardware issue for me, I've already had to replace the screen as that failed, now the front camera? CIT shows and entry for front camera, front camera aux is empty. When trying to use the front camera it just hangs and keeps a blurred image on the screen from the previous rear camera picture.
I don't know if I'd buy Xiaomi hardware again if it's as flaky as this. Very poor Xiaomi.

Hey Guys !
I bought a galaxy note 8 back in feb this year. Everything was working like a charm however after android 9 update my front camera keeps crashing whenever i switch to it. Back camera is good. I thought this was a bug and would be resolved after an update. Which it did. But only for a day. The next day it went same. Kept crashing. Even third party camera apps wont work for front.
I factory reset it. Resolved the issue for like 15 days then it came back to its crashing behavior. Factory reset it again but to no avail The point is whenever an update arives. Or phone factory resets. It works sometimes for a couple of days but goes back to the fault. I tried almost all steps mentioned on internet for camera related issues .
I even re-flashed the phone from sammobile firmware but didnt resolve the issue. I bought it from another country so i cannot claim it under warranty. Please advise if anyone faced such issues or just me. Also some tips would be appreciated. Thanks

In my hands now OP7 PRO which has been regulary updated and after recent update both cameras stopped working, youtube too !
So, had it downgraded to 9.5.3. and back camera and youtube back again but front camera not (so not even motor poping out)
Tried clean flash with fastboot rom but all the same
Done camera test through *#808# with no success, tried camera motor test, calibration too and no joy.
So before I order any parts just wonder whats the logic behind motorised cameras:
will motor pop out if camera is dead or other way round if motor is dead will that cause software block to launch camera (when you want to switch from back to front camera you getting nothing). ! Ready to order camera or motor but not sure whats actually gone !

Done few tests so far, prove that motor/actuator is working and it must be the camera. Orderd camera yesterday and with a luck should get it in 30 days.
Funny thing about it that once I had Oneplus 5 with exact same issue, ordered new back camera, installed it and all back working than was curious and returned old one and the old one back working too
Conclusion ? No explanation by now.
Update: new camera arrived, installed and all back working !!

Facing this after the December update
For me the December stable update brought more bugs. My device would completely freeze while using for example meet and Roblox with screen sharing on meet, I would have to hold the power and volumen to force reboot cause the device would just completely freeze. Before it was fine. Was on stable and beta builds and no issues. Went back to the beta and using the latest beta build fixed some of my issues.

I'm now on the beta, works way more fluid then the stable release...
For me as well, I've rolled back several December app updates and even temporary switched to an external dialer app as I find both the November and December versions so bad they're unusable.
In case anyone still has frame drops, uninstalling the android system intelligence updates seems to solve the frame drops, at least for me
