MetroPCS Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL OTA Errors - General Questions and Answers

I am trying to update my MetroPCS Fierce XL in order to finish the sim unlock for the device (metro unlocked it but I can't get my end to go through until I am updated to current on the device) and I keep getting the following error message when attempting to install the dang update, please help!!!!
E:erasing fota.status failed errno=2
Finding update package...

Verifying update package...
Installing update...
Verifying current system...
"/system/app/TctWeather/TctWeather.apk" has unexpected contents.
E:Error in @/cache/recovery/block.map
(Status 7)
EDIT: I probably should have included that i am running stock rom, have never changed that and while my phone was rooted until recently I got it fully unrooted (the update program was blocking my updates and now it isn't so I know i did it right) and am running android 5.1.1 on the device.

I found some expanded info for my phone thanks to some things I learned here in the forum, y'all are scary good at this kind of stuff. This is the new info I was able to learn about my phone.
cu:5054N-2AE4US1
current version: 8D6UUPU0
device rooted: false
update file path:/data/data/com.tcl.fota/.fotadownload/update.zip
I have the update I need to install on the phone currently I just cannot access the folder it is in to copy it to try to find another method of installing it as I am unrooted. ANY help would be very appreciated as I am sort of on a time crunch to get this solved so I can finish my device unlock. Thank you all for your sharing of your knowledge and I hope to hear back soon, have a great day y'all.

I'm begging you all...
Someone please give me a little bit to work on to fix this issue, it is beyond my scope. I have been in contact with Metro PCS and Alcatel and got bupkis. I have been searching here and just about everywhere else I could think of and am no closer to being able to have a working phone again let alone hope to recover my lost documents and pictures. If I was smarter I wouldn't have to beg but I really am begging here please

[Q] HTC Desire Z Won't Update New Software

So I noticed the other day that there was a software update. So I downloaded the update and when it reboots to install the update I get an error message. I have rooted my phone with visionary. I first did temproot then did permroot. I assume that my phone is rooted correctly and I used visionary to unroot my phone and still have the same issue. When I go to terminal emulator and type su it seems fine. I have also tried unrooting my phone and also tried doing a factory reset in the settings menu. Nothing seems to work. I purchased my HTC Desire Z from a local cell phone shop so it is a legitimate phone. I love my phone but I really want to upgrade to Android 2.3 eventually and if a software update won't work I don't know how I will update to 2.3
I get the red triangle then I get
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...

Copying fotaboot to /data/system for customize reload...
Verifying current system...

Installation abborted
Then I reboot and everything is fine. Now I should say that tis phone is unlocked and not on Bell Mobility but on Telus. Also I should say that after rooting the phone I uninstalled a few applications such as facebook. Thanks for any help at all. If I need to I can restore my phone to before I messed with it but I don't know how since a factory reset doesn't put facebook back on

[Completed] S4 UPDATE , FLASHING AND UNLOCKING ISSUES- read me.

Hi, good day and thank you for reading.
I'm stressed out. I need any help I can get, what's happening is that I bought two phones in attempt to refurbish it and it came with errors. Whenever I try to update it I get " Status 7 ; installation aborted ) along with many other stuff. Additionally, the device I bought was supposed to be unlocked but guess what. It isn't . ( also not sure if rooted but i assume its not )Please help in anyway possible.
I'm not a phone tech but I know my way around. It's two devices, both from sprint.
Device 1: SPRINT sph l720 )- this is unlocked. Only need to probably flash my device and put lollipop on it. It's currently 4.4.2 kit kat but when I download and go through with the update, status 7 installation aborted. This brings me to my next issue. My baseband number is different from the lollipop rom that I'm finding online. Should this be an issu? baseband number- L720VPUAMDC.(will flashing make the phone locked to sprint again?)
Device 2: SPRINT sph l720T.(Baseband : l720TVPUBOA3)- This is locked and won't update. Same error as mentioned above. (Sprint spark)
It would be nice if someone could carry me through the steps I'd need to fix this (flashing to lollipop and unlock or any other method to be honest. I'd just like to overcome this issue as soon as possible to sell these devices)
And thank you thank you thank you in advance for the assistance. I really needed it.

[Completed] [Req] Calling talented devs to help with Tmo Nougat beta update.zip flashing issue

Hey there guys,
I am hoping to reach out to someone with more skill and knowledge than myself to help figure out the "invalid footer" error we are seeing when a S7 Edge tmo user attempts to flash the tmo update to their phones.
In case you are not familiar, Samsung has been pushing out updates to the major carrier phones that allow people that registered for a beta to use nougat. First off was Verizon, who has an update.zip nougat file that allows them to flash to any phone as long as it has a VZ bootloader. If you take a Tmo phone and then flash the VZ bootloader, you can flash the VZ update.zip and your phone will have nougat no problem (but be set up like a VZ phone).
Next, they released the Tmo update zip, but when pulled from people's phone, it seems to get corrupted or something. It wont copy to a SD Card and it wont flash, with a footer error that you can see below. The same seems to be happening with Sprint people too. "E: footer is wrong" followed by "E: signature verification failed"
I have tried to help accumulate as much data as I can here, so we can get to the bottom of this.
Things I have noticed:
The Tmo update, the boot.img shows as 0 bytes
Tmo is also missing the CERT.RSA, CERT.SF, MANIFEST.MF files.
Link to the TMO Update.Zip
Alternate Tmo Update Zip
Error Log from flashing the zip
VZ Update Zip
Recovery Image when flashing

I hope this is in the right place. If it isnt, can we please push this in the right direction? Can we please have some expert Samsung devs to help us figure this out? This seems that it is going to continue to be an issue with the Samsung flagships.

[Completed] Can't update Samsung SCH-I415 - Status 7 error

Hi all,
I have problem updating my generally new Samsung SCH-I415 Stratosphere 2. I got an update package ZIP, that has been downloaded by Phone form Verizon directly. I took it to my SD card and tried to flash from stock recovery, but it has status 7 error. Phone was probably rooted before and now, on welcome screen, it shows unlocked padlock above Custom notification. I have managed to make system status to normal, but it didn't changed much - still got status 7 error. Is there any option to flash/install this update.zip on that phone? There is no firmware available for this model, no custom ROM or recovery. Please help :/
PS is there any modification to do in update.zip that I could make, to run it propely? I have found that in update-script I should remove some assert line, but when I have done that, it says ZIP signature failed.
Ok, I finally got it - it's really hard to find Odin flashable firmware to this device. Here it is: http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?q=sch-i415&exact=1
Damn. I have downloaded updates from verizon and tried to flash again that firmware. Now I got "firmware upgrade encountered an error". Is there any chance to fix it/or get into recovery to factory reset?
Hi !
Thus thread isn`t for your device but it looks like it`s a workaround
