WhatsApp Aero - General Topics

Rather unique looking WhatsApp mod and with YoWhatsapp shutting down, maybe it's best to try something new.
I haven't given it a go yet but it's available here on the official website (at least from the looks of it, it's the official site).
This mod is not made by me and I have no idea as to its safety.
Any thoughts?

Hm very bizarre, the developer is established on Google Play but also mentions an app that facilitates Spyware, here's his website

Mods WhatsAppp
The main and best whatsapp mods as I see them are yowhatsapp, whatsapp aero, fm whatsapp, and whatsapp gb
Os principais e melhores mods do whatsapp ao meu ver é yowhatsapp, whatsapp aero, fm whatsapp, e whatsapp gb

[POLL]Blackberry Messenger Style Messaging App

Hello XDAders, Sup!
First, Sorry for my english its not perfect *BEWARE*
Second, the theme of this post its about an App that allows Messaging Between Phones of Different OS(Android, WM, Symbian[OPTIONAL], BlackberryOS, iOS[OPTIONAL], OtherSmartPhoneOS's[OPTIONAL]) with the appearance and functions of the Rim Messaging Platform, Blackberry Messenger.
The options that i found where:
Whatsapp
Pingchat
Cnectd
pMessenger
Which of those will accomplish the task better???
The things that i think the messaging app must have:
*Push Notifications
*Always Be On, meaning even if you close the app u will receive messages from your contacts(like Blackberry Messenger)
*Be able to send text, Voice Notes(not more than 2 minutes), Photos and Any type of files[OPTIONAL]
*An Check mark That indicates if message its sent, delivered and readed(like Blackberry Messenger)[OPTIONAL]
NOTE: If you know any other apps that accomplish those requirements, say it! Will be thank'ed
pingchat is the closest to a blackberry messenger clone. None of them are very good at group chat, but they're all "working on it"
I have tried pingchat and whatsapp and I am voting for pingchat!
I even heard somewhere that whatsapp will be free for a year only, then paid.
i have been using kakaotalk, its similar to whatsapp but this is in korean. English version is coming out some time this week though.
Like the simple and nice ui. Never had problems with it so far.

Kik Messenger could work
It's a new app so not perfect yet, but I think this could be the one you're looking for.
Since I'm not allowed to post outside links on the forum you can search for "kik messenger" to get a description

(Request) Gtalk for android capable of send photos, videos, and archives

i think that the Gtalk is popular mostly in the USA, but for example here in Mexico its like 1 of each 10 or even 1 of each 20 that use Gtalk.. Why?
well because google doesnt mention it much, or google doesnt pay the attention to it as google should...
Gtalk is a great app, and it is the native, built-in "Blackberry Messenger" for Android, but as Google doesnt support Gtalk, not much people use it (atleast here in mexico where all people use "live messenger")
i think if we "the android users" make a request to google to make them see that google talk is a great instant message app like whatsapp, BMM, iMesagge, ChatOn, etc... they could work on it and make it much better, with those things i suggested above (send photos, videos, make groups to chat, archives, etc...)
i know this may be a noob thread but i know more than 1 think the same as me
so what do you think guys? is my request possible?
This is sorely needed. I'm surprised it didn't come with ICS.

This set of Apps will allow you to receive notifications on your secondary devices such as:
- The tablet
- The small mobile that you use for sports leaving at home your expensive mobile.
- Your new Smartwatch with native Android*
Installation
Once installed and configured M2D Notifications Sender on your main phone, this App forwards notifications to your secondary device so you can read them (if they have internet access) and in many cases will leave you answer them.
On your tablet, or mobile accessory or even watch android, you must install M2D App Notifications Receiver and once configured, you can receive and reply notifications.
* Now you can use Bluetooth as well
Configuration
In order the devices can look each others, you need to enter in the App M2D Sender the Receiver code. This code is shown on the display settings of the M2D Receiver App once it is installed on your secondary device.
In the Receiver M2D App you must enter the IMEI of the main device. This imei is shown on screen settings of the M2D Sender App once installed in your primary device.
There are other security parameters to avoid that anyone can send messages to your device.
Replying
In addition to receiving notifications, in many cases, action buttons will appear with different options, including reply ones.
You can reply with predefined options and also with the keyboard as usual.
Every time you send an action, we will receive a message with the status of such action, for example if the message was sent or not.
To avoid synchronization issues, notifications viewed on the main device are not automatically removed and vice versa.
Sending whatsapp
The M2D Receiver App has a button that can send messages to contacts we have previously received whatsapp messages.
Privacy
The server never stores the message that it receives, it only makes like a proxy for shipment and is very light.

This app sounds awesome in concept and pretty nice in implementation. It even addresses the security concerns. But I still have this uneasy feeling about all my notifications going through a 3rd party server.....

Yes, I can do nothing about that! But if you sniff your data through internet you will see that is encrypted with your own key.
The server doesn't record anything.
Hi friends,
have you tried the service? if so, please, give me feedback.
Enjoy!
M2D Sender Version 1.0.1 released!
Memory consumption reduced
M2D Receiver version 1.0.1 released.
- Date added in notifications messages
- If a action failed, it is shown as a new notification
Enjoy!
Having installed a new rom (KK Ironman) on my TS, I was looking around for a notification solution before installing Swapp link again. (you know, exploring all options).
I have to say that the setup was really easy and quick, receiving all notifications now. The quick reply functionality works and would be nice if it could work for more services (like hangouts). Launching google maps with navigation from a google now notification is really nice .
Some UI tweaks could be made. Like notification headers that have cut off text right now. Screen on when receiving a notification would be nice. And maybe just showing a received notification instead of an overview.
All in all a nice solution :good:. Will play around with this app some more. Curious about battery life.
Will test soon but:
-will bluetooth be there in the future? since i always carry my phone in my pocket and work on my tablet bluetooth would be enough. (also a bit scared of my notifications going through the dev's server)? My tablet gets internet over bluetooth from my phone by the way.
-Are all notifications forwarded? If so: can some kind of blacklist be implemented. Some apps are installed on my phone and my tablet (hangouts, telegram...) so those notifications don't have to be forwarded.
-what about devices without an imei? can they use this? my tablet is a wifi only device.
A new mate for this project

Now a receiver for your Car.
Try it.
Hello,
Can you make an enhancement to send/receive notification over Bluetooth between 2 Android gadgets?
Thanks,
Pokizo

This App is in Beta State.
This set of Apps will allow you to receive notifications on your secondary devices such as:
- The tablet you use away from the phone.
- The small mobile that you use for sports and leave your house phablet in safekeeping.
Installation
Once installed and configured M2D Notifications Sender on your main phone (which usually use), this forward notifications to your (max 3) secondary devices so you can read them while away from your main phone (if they have internet access) and in many cases will leave you answer them.
On your tablet, or mobile accessory or even watch android, you must install M2D App Notifications Receiver and once configured, you can receive and reply notifications.
Configuration
For devices can look them eatch others, you need to enter in the App M2D Sender the Receivers codes.
On the M2D Sender App you must enter your own key and in the M2D Receiver App the same key that must match since otherwise the messages will be discarded. This key allows the Sender to send messages and that the Receiver will accept. By default Apps already have this code included, but you better change them.

This key allows the Sender to send messages and that the Receiver will accept. By default Apps already have this code included, but you better change them.
Additionally, messages are encrypted so that only the recipient can read them. For this an encryption key is used in the settings. By default Apps already have this codebook including, but you better change them.

Sending whatsapp
The M2D Receiver App has a button that can send messages to contacts we have previously received whatsapp messages. This depends on if there are unread messages in whatapp when a new notification arrives, but the app will always be learning and allows you to write to more contacts.
How does it work
- Notifications are encrypted and send with the key configured on the server Apps.
- The server checks the sender and receiver data to see if they are registered and if so sends the message to Google using GCM (What's this?)
- When the Receiver has internet, Google shall forward the notification to Receiver
- The receiver decrypts the message and checks that the keys to Sender and Receiver match
- The receiver displays a notification to the user
In the case of the answers is similar, but completely upside down.
What Can Go Wrong
This program is in Beta and further development of faults that can happen:
- The server that sends notifications is down.
- Google GCM Service stops working
Privacy
The server never stores the message that it receives, it only makes like a proxy for shipment and is very light.
Further messages are encrypted with the encryption key (change those default)
Free
For now it's free and only the M2D Receiver App has Ads, but could change in the future or not ...

Hola Paco!
Gracias
Hi Paco, in D5\k8\etc community all people are trying your app due to it solves notifications needs.
The only feature that doesn't work (at least in my case) are calls. I also have some problems with some notis because it duplicates and triplicates some notis.
Thanks

Thanks for setting up this Forum, @pacosal. I participate heavily in forms dedicated to smart watches and I run a YouTube channel, http://youtube.com/smartwatchticks about smart watches.
Several users of Android based smart watches have been looking for a solution to better tethering between the watch platform and an Android phone or iPhone. Many are talking about your M2d app solution. One of the most desired features is being able to answer and place phone calls from the watch. At lease one of your app users, @soniasophie9697 has been able to use your app for phone calls. It doesn't seem to be consistent, however.
I am interested in doing a YouTube video about your app as a possible solution for smart phone tethering. Do you have a version (even in beta) that could work for phone calls that I could demonstrate on camera? The SmartWatchTicks channel has over 3000 subscribers and in excess of 600,000 views by a dedicated and interested audience, so I'm hoping a review of your app could help several people get connected the way they want with smartwatches. Thank you for your time.
M2D notifications not runs OK with 3g connection (watch)
Hey guys,
I have read a similar problem in a message. The notifications not arrive smartwatch if has activated data connection through 3g. Works fine if the watch has attached Internet by WIFI.
Anyone knows the tip or solution?
Thanks,

Best messenger apps for Android

Studies have shown that smartphone users message each other back and forth much more than they make calls. Users need a good messenger app. It's a big choice, so here are two of our favorites.
WhatsApp
WhatsApp, the ubiquitous chat app, has been installed on over one billion smartphones. And it's always improving user experience, adding new features and becoming more secure. What makes it number one? Everyone uses it, simple as that. If you already use
WhatsApp, then you should check out our favorite WhatsApp tips and tricks.
Telegram
No messaging app comes close to the number of users WhatsApp has, but there are some great alternatives out there. Telegram is one of them. The free app has end-to-end encryption, does group chats and is a pioneer of chatbots. Unlike some other messengers, you can use it on multiple devices. Read our full review of Telegram
