Android 10 to be locked to play store? - Android Stick & Console Computers General

From what ive been reading and also experienceing from using android 10 on my google pixel is that they are trying to lock Android, to play store use only! This does not sit well with me as a android tv box enthusiast, its getting more difficult to customize boxes, ive been fiñding with android pie boxes, magisk will not install to the boot file, meaning less customization as far as sound enhancements and so on, i greatly enjoyed the s905x2 with android 8.1 as i could still customize with magisk.
On my pixel with android 10 es file explorer does not link installs to the apk installer anymore.
Since amlogic source code is not released to the public to build our own google free firmware im wondering what the coming releases hold in store for us.
Ps if anyone has figured out installing magisk to s905x2 pie and s905x3 pie please help a fella out, no bootloader on these boxes to boot to to use adb, haven't had much luck with adb over network...

Quad core android based projector, Ruishida T16P

I got this "smart" projector , a T16P , recently and it's a pretty great device running KitKat I think. I'm not too in love with the ROM however and would love to root it and put some better firmware on if it's available. Kodi runs beautifully on it.
What would I need to do to achieve this? I've no idea how to get it into download mode, or how to backup the existing ROM, extract some hardware drivers ?
It would be such a fun device to run alternative OS images on, or maybe even an ARM linux. It's such capable hardware, it pains me to not have more control over it's software.
I do not recommend to do this.
I had the same feeling so I tried to update to lollipop... and since then I can't boot the projector anymore

Android Pie (9) Launch Devices & New Rooting Methods

I'm trying to find which devices launched with Android Pie as I'm interested to look into what the progress of rooting is, having to use the new system-as-root process.
So far, I've only been able to find two devices that have launched with Pie which are,
Samsung Galaxy 10/10+
Huawei P30/P30 Pro
So far, the S10 does have a root solution, but it is extremely unique in that it requires using the recovery partition to house Magisk, and as for the P30 there doesn't seem to by any root solution as of yet available.
If anyone else knows of any other devices that have launched with Android Pie then add it as a reply and I will add it to my post.
Tecno KB7j, please could you find a root solution for this model
Does anyone have suitable su binaries for android 9 and 10, I have some su binaries that do not work on anything over android 8. Then things can be tried with emulators first.

[UPDATE] Hiliti PD-C Laser measuring device

Hello Guys,
I have a Hilti Laser PD-C device that runs:
android: 4.1.2
build: sparky_silver_2.3.15
I want to note that all apps should be arm not x86 but Im not sure of the DPI.
This runs a special modified Hilti rom. I would love to be able to get a custom rom and add more apps. I am willing to toss some donations for this. Has anyone done anything with this device before?
**** Update: ****
I was able to get root access via PC version "KING_ROOT"
http://king.myapp.com/myapp/Kingroot/kingroot_pc/KingRoot_pc_en.exe
1. I downloaded the most current sdk for ADB
2. I also downloaded the Hilti update app.
www.hilti.com/updatepdc
3. I was able to use King_Root even while the app didnt see the device and it recognized the device after I clicked connect.
4. The main ROM is very difficult to get around. You cant just click an app you side-loaded. Download a launcher that matches the android version. I used smart launcher, no reason, just the first I found. Use ADB to sideload on to the device.
(adb install "app name") https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/smart...1-build-054-android-apk-download/#description
5. From here I got full control to the apps I sideloaded. I am still having issues with connecting to BT on my note9 for the internet.
It is what it is... But thanks for the help. I hope anyone else looking finds this.

Help needed updating Mediawave MW22-A32 from 4.4.4 to OS6.0+

Hi all! Android noob looking for suggestions.
Manufacturer: Mediawave PC (now Techland PC)
Hardware Model: MW22-A32
Current OS: 4.4.4
Chipset: Rockchip RK3288 (supposedly capable of Android 8.1)
Rooted with SuperSU
Purchased this 22" touch display off eBay and wanted to load an app that requires Android 6 or higher. The manufacturer does not offer an update package for this device and indicated what I have was a special build for a single project that is now likely being refreshed and hardware liquidated. Tech Support indicated I needed to simply buy a NEW device that already has the OS updated.
I would like to think we can update to a newer version of OS, but I have no idea where to start. I checked a few online videos, but they seemed to point to pre-packaged OS bundles from tech enthusiasts for specific mass market tablet models.
Is an upgrade like this possible without having device specific files/firmware? If so, can you point me to a guide or walkthrough for how to do this as an Android novice? Thank you!
In order to upgrade existing Android OS as 1st thing of all things you need to find a
1. Custom Recovery
2. Custom ROM
both suitable to the mentioned device.

Using the 'Official TWRP App', I created a copy of both the boot and recovery image.
For the next step, if the device manufacturer will not supply an updated ROM, can you use the hardware profile help find a close custom rom that may work here? if so, do you have any suggestions on next steps? I installed the 'Droid Info' app to view hardware info, but it was not as detailed as I had hoped.
Can't answer your questions because I never compiled TWRP at my own.
Were you ever able to update this device? I have one that i want to update as well.
I also bought one of these off of ebay and would like to know if you figure out how to upgrade to Android 8.1.

I purchased one of these recently and the OS is Android 4.4.4
Do you know where I can download the ROM, Recovery image file?
I believe that I saw that your website stated the OS to be Android 7.1.
Is it supposedly capable of Android 8.1?
<and thank you very much>
Yet another question...
The unit I purchased seems to have only 1GB DRAM?!?
Any way to increase this? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I did not attempt. TechlandPC did respond and said that this model maxed out at 4.4.4. I was not convinced that the updated firmware will work with this device and could not find anyone specifically doing it to this device - and did not want to brick it. I was able to delete some large system apps and free up some space with OAndBackupX (Andorid 4+)- https://f-droid.org/en/packages/dk.jens.backup/
Interested in this aswell.
I know the topic is a few months old but I’m currently looking at possibly purchasing the 22” or 15” in models and wanted to see if there were any further updates? What is everyone using them for? I hope to use them with home assistant and fully kiosk…anyone know if it’s possible? Seems like there is enough interest, maybe we can get this tablet upgraded?

I purchased the 22" for my 83yr mother. I created a desktop stand for her to use it to view her gmail, facebook, etc. Its fairly limited because of the small space on the device, So I found a way to move many of the apps to an external usb. It also does not have a camera - which would have been nice for her to be able to use to make videochats, but I could not get an external usb camera to work (tried 4 different makes/models). I never did attempt to flash and upgrade it.
Oh wow Don…good on you for getting your grandmother up and going with it. I’m a little scared to take the plunge not knowing if it can run what I need…how good is the browser (is the system sluggish?) They two I’m looking at say they have built in cameras (I too was hoping to use it) but I bet it will be a no go :/

If it says in the description that it comes with a camera - you may be ok. Mine clearly stated that it did not have a camera.
It is responsive and works well. I did do something to make it sluggish but I do not remember specifically... it may have been that I came very close to maxing out the storage which caused the issue.
The other thing that I was really disappointed in is that it does not have an HDMI in. So I could not push video to it. It does have an HDMI port, but I havent tested if it does push video to another device since I didnt have a need to do that.
It’s good to hear it’s responsive (or was lol) maybe I should just bite the bullet and get it…if I can just get it to run Home assistant it will be golden…if you think of anything else or figure anything out let me know!

Question You can't install the app on your device [SOLVED]

I'm attempting to side load Teams downloaded from Google Play running in an emulator onto my Pixel Pro 7. I get the error in the subject after I tap "Install" link from the "Do you want to install this app?" dialog after executing the .apk that I extracted using APK Extractor from the emulator
The emulator is running a Pixel 4 with Android API 34 x86_64 UpsideDownCake image. I tried an Arm image thinking I had the wrong OS architecture but that isn't the problem. Could it be related to the Pixel 7 Pro (and Pixel 7) needing 64 bit apps and Teams isn't 64 bit? I can't find anywhere that says what architecture the Teams app is and I'm not sure what the problem is. Any ideas on how to get Teams installed? I need it for work but it isn't work adding a google account to my phone although I still need Teams badly lol.
Try the ARM64v8A file from here - https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/micro...icrosoft-teams-1416-1-0-0-2023063101-release/
Install it directly on the phone.
