Android Pie (9) Launch Devices & New Rooting Methods - Android General

I'm trying to find which devices launched with Android Pie as I'm interested to look into what the progress of rooting is, having to use the new system-as-root process.
So far, I've only been able to find two devices that have launched with Pie which are,
Samsung Galaxy 10/10+
Huawei P30/P30 Pro
So far, the S10 does have a root solution, but it is extremely unique in that it requires using the recovery partition to house Magisk, and as for the P30 there doesn't seem to by any root solution as of yet available.
If anyone else knows of any other devices that have launched with Android Pie then add it as a reply and I will add it to my post.

Tecno KB7j, please could you find a root solution for this model

Does anyone have suitable su binaries for android 9 and 10, I have some su binaries that do not work on anything over android 8. Then things can be tried with emulators first.

[Q] Andriod rooting query

Hi there,
I am a newbie in Android development. I was wondering if there is any generic way to temporarily root any android devices? Or does rooting depends upon manufacturer\Android version? I was able to root(via zergRush exploit) a Samsung handset which runs on Android 2.2, however it failed on other devices running on different version of Android. I am working on Windows 7 32 bit machine.
Please suggest.
I yout have compatible phone, you can use Farmaroot, it's one click apk, no need to use computer or cable.
see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130276
According to the links given, it seems that the exploits(rooting) are processor\manufacturer dependent. I am into forensics, so installation of apk on the devices is not an option. Is there any published list of exploits for various Android devices? Please suggest.
You can root any device because you can upload and execute a blob but it's only possible to do this in /data/local/tmp folder. You can upload the exploit and make it executable and then let it crack android. Then you can upload su and install it permanently. Most likely the system is read-only so need elevated privilege.

Manual root of Allwinner tablet

Hello,
Due to the issue with KingRoot that has been brought to the attention of everyone is there a way to root an Allwinner A83T tablet device manually not using an app.
ADB in linux would be my preferred method if possible. I have found many of the guides for rooting Lollipop devices are either obsolete or just do not work. It is even more difficult if one is trying with Marshmallow. Many of the windows scripts or programs downloadable here are either out of date or just do not work. for one reason or another. I updated the devices in question to Marshmallow but had to move back to Lollipop, after losing access to the internal sdcard. This was when I found out about KingRoot being suspect. Google seem to be making modding Android devices ever more difficult. I hope someone has a solution for this problem.
Thanks.

Android 10 to be locked to play store?

From what ive been reading and also experienceing from using android 10 on my google pixel is that they are trying to lock Android, to play store use only! This does not sit well with me as a android tv box enthusiast, its getting more difficult to customize boxes, ive been fiñding with android pie boxes, magisk will not install to the boot file, meaning less customization as far as sound enhancements and so on, i greatly enjoyed the s905x2 with android 8.1 as i could still customize with magisk.
On my pixel with android 10 es file explorer does not link installs to the apk installer anymore.
Since amlogic source code is not released to the public to build our own google free firmware im wondering what the coming releases hold in store for us.
Ps if anyone has figured out installing magisk to s905x2 pie and s905x3 pie please help a fella out, no bootloader on these boxes to boot to to use adb, haven't had much luck with adb over network...

Change audio input device (optional root)

To get right to the point,
I was wondering, if it is possible to choose the microphone/ input device on an android 11+ device with or without root.
On the web certain apps have been recommended but these were not compatible with the latest android versions including android 11.
Maby there is a way to achieve this with root access to the system.
I am using the OnePlus 8 Pro on Android 11 with systemless root (magisk)
I am also searching for same, did you find solution anywhere?

How to install a pre-rooted Android emulator on a PC?

Hello. I need to use some Android root functions but I don’t want to damage my Samsung S20 FE in any way or, as I found out, even erase its memory when installing some kind of bootloader.
As you probably notice, I am new to the advanced use of Android and I would like to know what are the ways to use Android root on a PC emulator. What programs are there and which ways are the most recent and safest?
If you're on Windows 11 then simply install WSA with Magisk
