Hi guys! Up till Android 9 I was perfectly able to disable "direct share" in my system. Or at least how to remove PEOPLE (contacts) from there. They are always on top and annoying. In Android 9 I used a XML-file to get rid of those but this doesn't seem to work in Android 10. Any ideas how to do it?
Small bump, sorry. No one here that ever wondered about this.
Same here. Hate it and can't disable it since upgrading to 10. xml file just crashes.

Hello all,
I am currently trying to build an Xposed Module to disable the location consent dialog at least for just my phone.
I have a rooted VZW LG G4 on Lollipop 5.1 - VS98613B
It is an annoyance to have to agree every time I turn on location or network data.
There is an Xposed Module that disables the location consent dialog, but this module is for the "Google Analytics" agreement, that Google will automatically collect anonymous data. It can be found here:
Code:
repo.xposed.info/module/com.mohammadag.disablelocationconsent
PLEASE NOTE: What I am trying to disable is a similar dialog, BUT IS NOT THE SAME. I have tried this module, along with a LL compatible "Deny Location Consent" module, and neither are targeted for the dialog I get.
I am not able to post links or pictures, but if you go to "i67.tinypic.com/2zzkenq.png" you can see the dialog.
I would like help trying to find the method that calls this dialog to appear, so that I can hook it and replace it with a (I'm assuming a 'return true;') method of my own. I have scoured GrepCode for the right Java class, but don't have much experience on where to look or even what really to look for. The closest I think I have gotten is in com.android.systemui.statusbar.policy.LocationControllerImpl at the link:
Code:
grepcode.com/file/repository.grepcode.com/java/ext/com.google.android/android/5.1.0_r1/com/android/systemui/statusbar/policy/LocationController.java#LocationController.setLocationEnabled%28boolean%29
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!
TL;DR: I need help finding the method that calls the Location Consent dialog (not for Google) so that I can create an Xposed Module to bypass it.
Did you ever figure this out? I've been looking around for a fix for this on my Galaxy s7 for a while now to no avail.

Unfortunately, no. I had to give up because of frustration and school. I've had to get the habit of automatically just agreeing. Good luck to you though, please reply here if you find anything out.
Hi all,
This is my first post so if I'm doing it wrong, please bear with me.
I love my X2 but the only thing is unless rooted, it doesn't offer split screen or multitasking options, which is a shame considering its real estate.
Does the new Android update 6.0, beta or non-beta now include this split screen option stock?
If so, I am very willing to attempt the B211 upgrade first time...
Thanks guys.
Hi mclmc -- I've got the stock OTA update to Android 6.0 and EMUI 4.0 (B202) on the 702L. I haven't found any split-screen option but there is a type of "multitasking" similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 I used to have: if you hit the lower right soft button on the X2's screen you can then flip horizontally through all the running app windows and click on the one you want (or close those you don't need anymore to save RAM space). Not sure if this is what you mean, and I don't know if this is different from Android 5.x because I did the OTA update to 6.0 before even using the phone.
Dear Jasmithers,
Sincerely thank you for your response. I was hoping that there would be an option to run two or more apps simultaneously on the same screen... Somehow I feel restricted if I'm not able to eye running programs at a glance, but that's just me.
Cheers and much appreciated for clearing this out.
No problem. I'm a neophyte on this device so don't take my word as gospel. Do a search in the top Mediapad X2 forum and you'll find people showing how multiwindow can be done if you're willing/able to root the device (although they may not be talking about 6.0/4.0 build). For example, check out:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mediapad-x2/general/emui-3-1-apps-multiscreen-t3193389
Yes, Android 6.0 has split-screen!!
I stumbled on this by accident, but Android 6.0 on my completely-stock Mediapad X2 GEM-702L (Build number GEM-702LC158B202/EMUI 4.0/Android 6.0) does indeed have split-screen capability. This is how it works:
1) Touch the screen to get the row/column of soft buttons to appear (you know the ones -- triangle=back, circle=home, square=multitask).
2) Press and HOLD the square (multitask) button. After a second or so the currently-open application will be shunted to a half-screen window, leaving the other half open for a second app.
NOTE: Not all apps are compatible with split-screen. For example, I've had Google Maps and Waze sharing the screen in split-screen mode -- very cool -- but my default music app (Poweramp) does not support split-screen.
With Lenovo's new smart display having been released, it got me thinking as to if there were any apps currently out or in development that would mimick the features and functionality on an Android device? I have a Note 5 I would like to convert into an always on, "smart display". Thanks in advance!
It'd be great if the "visual assistant" app got ported to regular android, but I'd even be happy with the original Android Things app since a RPi3 can run Things. I'm kind of surprised there isn't more demand for this from the DIY crowd.
Anyone able to find this apk?
Seconded on the APK. Has anyone had any luck trying to pull a system dump on these devices?

I am looking for this as well. I would like to flash an Android OS to the Smart Display to convert to a table top tablet device. Has anyone been able to root the device?
I've been tinkering with something along these lines. It's not a full-fledged app (yet), but it does aspire to be a "smart display app". For now it's just a webpage - would love thoughts or feedback! checkout h0mrr on twitter, or app dot homrr dot co
Hi !
I am ex-owner of Nokia 7 Plus and new owner of 8.1. After a few days with this phone, i have noticed, that there's something wrong with multitasking and background services, that are supposed to receive push notifications such as Messenger. Multitasking is a nightmare as compared to Nokia 7 Plus or Zenfone 2. Phone closes running apps and cleans RAM too quickly/ too aggresively. The same thing happens to push enabled apps such as Messenger, Facebook etc. Notifications appear with big delay (up to 5 minutes). I have made a discovery and i have noticed, that Adaptive Battery keeps turning back on itself + according to https://dontkillmyapp.com the problem is that one nasty system APK called "Battery Saving" (com.evenwell.powersaving.g3). I can tell this APK is a troublemaker, because once force closed, problem is gone until next reboot. It can't be disabled permanently. It's frustrating.
The faster Nokia gets rid of this APK or fixes it, the better.
I haven't encountered any delays with respect to the delivery of my notifications. But I do agree that some apps are killed way too early whereas they should be kept in memory. Maybe they are just trying to find a balance between users who want more battery backup and those who need constantly running apps in the background. I do not mind closed apps, but all I want is a whitelist which ensures me that these few apps will never be touched by the battery optimizer.
I don't face any notification delays or anything like that, and apps over a period of time are and should be removed from background ,that aggressive power saving is from Google itslef not from Nokia ,if someone still wants to make it run all the time then select don't optimise from power options it should help
My kids have a 6.1 but don't appear to have this program in their apps listing, so I'm wondering if maybe it's been removed in a monthly patch at some point? If people are still having this problem, have you tried following the instructions on the linked site (dontkillmyapp) to remove it with ADB?
i dont face notification delay... all good
Supposedly Nokia removed the culprit (evenwell) from their devices, so I take it that all is good now? (I will be receiving the 8.1 today, so wanting to make sure I do my homework).

Well, I am glad I returned the device without taking it out of the box because bootloader can't be opened. Got a OnePlus 5T now, so a custom operating system can be installed.
Ok, thanks good for you.

There is no such apk called com.evenwell.powersaving.g3 on my Nokia 8.1
It is easy to uninstall those aplications, i have a 7 plus and have uninstalled all evenwell cancer of the phone. Check on Nokia 7 plus forums, you need a pc and copy past a command and that's it.

Maybe because you have already upgraded to Android 10, which got rid of this package.
Hello all. I'm running a Pixel 5a, Android 13 and the Sept security update. After installing the Sept security update (I specifically know this caused it), I can no longer click the "x" for the "Reward Granted" button on any ads in apps/games. When I do click it, you can hear the click sound like 20 times really quick, but no matter what I have tried, it wont actually click it. The only way to get out of the ad is to either backswipe (which then doesn't accept the fact you watched the ad), or kill the app. Anyone have any ideas on what to try? It happens in multiple games (they all use the same ad backend I assume), so its not a specific one.
go back to android 12 ? beside pixels most phones are still on android 12. given this, makes sense lots of devs did not made or changed their apps with android 13 in mind.
