Does anyone know of a good, standalone application that can download and parse XMLTV data? I'd like to grab the listings from RadioTimes.co.uk and have the software tell me when things I like are on (based on a keyword list I suppose).
I have already found PocketTV but this doesn't seem able to grab the XMLTV by itself.
Thanks
did you ever get any further with this?
not sure if its any help at all but I'm currently looking through a help forum about enabling xmltv for pocket tv - have a nosey
There is a version of XMLTVview for Windows Mobile in the works, which is a very nice app, but still no news of a port of anything which can download the data itself.
Good Day Everyone,
I have been searching the forums for a few days and installed a number of apk's all of which don't seem to work.
There seems to be so many posts on Chinese tablets and getting Android Market to work. And a number of work arounds that I have tried have so far been unsuccessful. Many of us have bought the WM8650 models (VIA8650,High-performance 800MHZ CPU+300MHZ).
So my question is can't we collaborate as a group who own these tablets to donate an amount (say $10 or $20 each) to the developer that ports an Android version which runs all the Google apps and Market?
That way we won't have to look for workarounds, and those who purchase after us will have a much easier upgrade path.

I have the wm8650 and can't access to the android market, even though there is an icon for it. I get an error that says, "Authentication error. Please check your account/password". Have you figured out the problem yet?

Hi guytimes.
The Android Market apk that I loaded won't open, however it seems the pre-loaded Market app on the device only shows applications from China(did not return any results when I searched for Angry Birds). The icons look similar but I'm not sure if the pre-loaded app goes to the Official Android Market place.(If someone knows, please could you correct me?).
In the interim, to at least to get some apps loaded, I managed to get the application from Slideme ( an Android application website) which works well. It does not have all the apps on the official Market but it will let you download and install. I am still trying to find a way to get the Google apps and Market place working or to Port a different ROM to this type of device.

Wow, that stinks. I had no idea the marketplace was blocked on these devices. Please let me know if you find a real work around and I'll do the same.
Hi everyone,
I too opt-in for a possible collaboration.
I'm still waiting my baby to arrive.
Thanks
Thank you boshkop,
Let's hope we can get enough people to agree. And then a technical person to port Android for us.
By the way I found another nice app market at Androidpit
What do you mean by "porting the Android"?! The device already runs Android 2.2!! Am I missing something here?

As far as I understood, he meant that Android market doesn't work and no apps can be installed even via .APK files, am I correct?
I just found a possible solution for the AndroidMarket (using the application Applanet).
Check here (the last post):
androidpit.com/en/android/forum/thread/420722/Table-7-wm8650-VIA-926-REVIEW
I have this tablet and I can tell you, it run 90% of the apk aplications
No need to have an android market. You can install the applanet market and get all free without registration and any complicated steps.
Now the only thing I'm searching is to know how to root the tablet.
I can access all the system files directly and edit any archive but need some special permisions.
Hopefully soon we can find soemthing for this awesome tablet.
rom
Hi everyone, I will have a ROM posted for the Eken m009s with the via 8650 cpu within the next few days, so far I removed the chinese apk's, a different lockscreen (froyo default), and launcher pro as the default home screen, also, Slide Me marketplace works perfectly on this, and Applanet does as well, the market I tried also fails to open.

Unfortunately there are at least 3-4 models with same tech specs.
The only difference is their LED color or if they vibrate on startup or not...
So far, the only way with the custom ROMs for these tablets is trial-and-error.
I tried on last night and it is stuck on a loading screen tried the install again and nothing... mine has green led and does vibrate on startup

Hi XDA people..
I need some help regarding developing Android ICS exynos or x86 based Kiosk. The first thing is I want to check with if there some way to get a Kiosk mode on ICS, like block user from using the bottom notification bar and buttons.. OR hide the notification bar and run my custom application in fullscreen. also I want timer based awake and sleep mode. And when the device wakes up. It should automatically load a custom app. I saw a custom user login app in xperia tablet s which has similar properties.
This was for software part. And now about the hardware part.
I am ordering a odroid exynos quad core cpu. Since it will have ICS preloaded. I would need to learn to customize roms for odroid.
1 solution found
I found this app called Surelock which does allmost everything i want from Kiosk mode.

You updated your own post/question with a solution!
You are a very good person.
Dear all,
I was just going through my apps list to see what I could disable and came across an app (only visible in the "ALL" tab in app manager) called Adam, it's 52 kb, cannot be disabled and has permissions to do just about whatever it wants.
Its version is 4.4.2-31. I recently updated to 4.4.2 (by manually installing the OTA), so I'm thinking it's something built in, but I cannot find anything explaining it. The closest "hit" on Google search was a paper on: "ADAM: An Automatic and Extensible Platform to Stress Test Android Anti-Virus Systems" but this sounds more like an analysis tool than built-in virus protection. I also searched this forum directly and didn't find anything.
Can anyone verify what this is? I doubt it's malicious but I'm curious about how Android is handling security these days.
BTW this is on a Moto X GSM DE version (XT1053), oddly enough I haven't felt the need to root it...
Cheers!
[Edit] I was able to display a little more info in Avast!'s app manager and its name is com.motorola.adamsvc, so it's something from motorola. Still not sure what it is though...

Same story! Had a Moto G though. Still unable to find out what it is. But since bootloader is locked tampering the ota is impossible as that would change the signature too! So rest assured it shouldn't be a malware.
hi guys.. i also have adam app in my moto g.. its system app cannot remove.. is it a virus/malware ??? cant find anything on internet related to it.. how to get rid of it ???
A buddy at work came across this on Facebook and asked me about it. Personally I find it goofy and nothing out of the ordinary, however it got me wondering what is this guy exactly running? Just a themed version of Kodi with quick links? Is there anyone out there preloading apk packages with all this stuff built in?

Seems to be android tv box named as diversion. Like xiaomi has it own. It used Kodi, it is clearly said at website.
Not sure if it has android os and then just kodi app, that is not mentioned. But i guess it is like that
But there is similar tx boxes available at market. Actually diversionbox seems rather expensive and has ****ty hardware .
I was not questioning whether or not it was in fact Kodi, I was more curious as to how Kodi is packaged on the device. I'm assuming he's preloading it with repos/addons, adding a theme, and possibly installing a third party app that auto launches Kodi at boot. I'm just trying figure out how he has quick access pop-ups on the main menu and wondering it there are people out there sharing similar packaged builds of Kodi without charging an arm and a leg.
